I'm poking an Oracle POV, because she's a really interesting insider outsider POV-- she's the all-knowing Oracle, but she's not really family, and also she's watching Jim Gordon throughout all of this. She's... she's not doing great! I think she's doing better than the Robins, but that's a low bar. (I do want to read more of her comics before I commit to writing something longer from her perspective-- I know the Batman comics haven't done her as much justice as they should.)

Oh, Steph. The whole faking her own death thing takes on a much different tone in this 'verse. Her and Cass are probably the next story to tell-- watching all of this go down from Hong Kong must be wild.

I think perhaps Cass and Jason are the only ones who still have a bat on their suits. Batgirl stands for what Batman was supposed to, after all.

another question about between bloody teeth verse- what’s Cass up to? Was she still close to Bruce in this verse or did she keep her distance because she noticed something Off. Cass arrives before Damian and before Jason’s return so would she even have an opportunity to notice something Off before she was already entangled with Bruce? Canonically Cass starts out naive to things of “romantic” (really strong air quotes around “romantic” in this case) and sexual nature so would she even know what she looking at if she saw something Off about Bruce and Jason or Bruce and Damian?

You know, I'm not entirely sure. And I definitely should've thought about Cass more. (Perhaps I didn't because her ability to read people really complicates things.)

I was thinking that she saw Jason and Bruce interact and saw something so Off she took Stephanie and left Gotham. Maybe she didn't know what was happening, just that she was uncomfortable with it. Or maybe she convinced herself she was wrong. (Or maybe Bruce convinced her she was wrong.)

The fathers and sons vs. fathers and daughters differences in bbt deserve examining.

I just discovered your fics; last night at 2am I read through between bloody teeth and then today read emergency line and a handful of others, and every single one has left me feeling absolute shrimp emotions. bbt especially left me with chills or without breath so many times.

I noticed I was reading about twice as slow as I usually do, because you manage to weave in subtextual information, these between-the-lines inferences and double meanings, and I didnt want to miss a single crumb. I kept going back to reread paragraphs, needing the extra time to soak in the latest gut punch of a line, but simultaneously being so excited about what was coming next I was vibrating with it.

you're somehow both succinct and descriptive in such a way that I could have sworn each fic was twice the word count it actually is, for all the impact that they'd serve. I think bbt is going to stick with me for a long time- thank you for the late night adrenaline and awe

bbt is a series I'm particularly proud of, and it makes me so happy to know that my writing has had such an impact.

Can I just say, I love your writing style! (Also that so much of your fic is Jason whump 😊.) Your writing is...not sparse, but succinct? So every line packs a wallop. oh, and, im not the askee anon, but you got me curious, so this might be a stupid question, but what's the difference between the windstorm or dc versions of Midnighter and Apollo? i'm only familiar with the latter i think??

Not at all! And the Wildstorm run of those characters was roughly 24 to 14 years ago (although there's more wildstorm-based stuff coming out later this year, yay) so it's definitely not as recent. I'm super into those comics but that's bc I read one issue of The Authority on a whim and my brain went, "blorbos acquired".

Basically, Apollo and Midnighter in the main Wildstorm universe are much more codependent, violent, and just overall worse (affectionate). They were both engineered by Henry Bendix after volunteering as adults (or so they were told, anyway) and after he betrayed their team they were the only survivors; they went on the run together for the next five years. They're on The Authority, they have a daughter, and they've been married since 1999. (They're an old married couple who bickers while decapitating people, basically. I love them so much.)

In general, their DC versions-- especially Apollo's-- are watered down. (Steve Orlando did well with writing Mid, imo, but Apollo has been turned into Mid's moral compass in general in DC which... no.) Mid was kidnapped as a kid and created by Bendix and the Gardener; Apollo was abducted and experimented on by aliens (?). They're also having a relationship trajectory that, considering the characters, is reasonably paced. No daughter or marriage (yet). (I love them as well but Apollo isn't nearly enough of a jerk.)

For fic purposes, I'm wondering if that person has a preference because the timelines and circumstances of Mid and Apollo meeting are very different. It'll either be "single dad Mid is overwhelmed" or "Mid and Apollo are overwhelmed".

The third chapter of Cracked Headstones is coming along slowly, mostly because plot is not my forte, but I'm excited for it. (Tim and Dr. Villain are not going to get along.)

So the Earth Three-type thing is a collection of sometimes conflicting ideas where Slade ends up killing Owlman!Bruce on Dick's behalf. This results in Slade accidentally acquiring Talon!Jason as an apprentice and being very, very out of his depth. There will probably be one version where Dick is raised by Slade after Bruce kills the Flying Graysons and one where Dick escapes Bruce (to a certain extent) when he's older. (Now that I'm typing this out, this might be a good choice for SladeRobin week. Hmm.) A world where Slade is a better man than Bruce is is very interesting to me. (Also, Skalidra's Earth Three fics gave me Ideas.)

There was a BTHB request for Jason and dehumanization that linked in nicely to a vague idea I had where M and Apollo are Jason's adoptive parents. It's not too developed yet, mostly because I can't decide if I want to use more of the Wildstorm or DC world, but it's brewing in the back of my head like a pitcher of cold brew. Apollo and Midnighter are Superman and Batman's counterparts, at least a little bit, so Jason gets to be Wonder Woman's. And Midnighter and Apollo get a child who is going to cause problems on purpose.

The (other) reverse robins one... it's also not too fleshed out yet, because if I think about it too hard I feel shrimp emotions. Basically, Jason never met Bruce. He was killed by the Joker and the death of a civilian has weighed heavily on Bruce. Talia recognizes Jason after he climbs out of his coffin and decides to bring him back to life. Somehow Tim (or maybe Damian?) ends up bonding with Jason and slowly bringing him into the family.

DC:

- Bruce has, among other things, OCD. All of his kids eventually get used to him looming over them in the night to make sure they're still breathing.

- Every single League member (except maybe Diana) has PTSD. This leads to several very strange encounters. (Ollie is bizarrely good at grounding people having panic attacks.)

- Jason owns and manages an apartment building. None of the residents for sure know he's the Red Hood, but everyone knows to go to him if they're in trouble. (Everyone also knows to go to him if they need last-minute childcare.)

- The Earth-based Lanterns once got psychically linked and didn't notice for five days. No one is sure how, but the whole thing was definitely Hal Jordan's fault. (This one is just mine.)

- Jason and Roy get legally married on three planets, including Earth, before they actually start dating.

- The Bats are accidental deities (think American Gods). This is why Bruce can "I'm Batman" his way through things he physically shouldn't be able to.

- Diana is every Robin's favorite superhero, as she should be.

- Midnighter and Apollo have the healthiest relationship in the universe. It's somewhat of an open relationship, because occasionally they have different preferences. They communicate about this and everything. They have a group chat with Dick that Bruce pretends not to know about.

- The Justice League has a group chat with everyone but Bruce. It's dedicated to keeping track of whatever shitshow is going down in Gotham at the moment (and also dealing with the League of Assassins before the Bats do, because no one wants to deal with that again).

- John Stewart always, always, always has the brain cell.

SPN:

- Hail Mary is the only prayer Dean knows for non-hunting purposes.

- Dean sees Alastair in the corners of his vision for years. He never tells Sam.

- Cas undoes a little bit of chronic damage (knees, liver, etc.) every time he heals the Winchesters.

These aren't Daredevil-specific, but thepartyresponsible has some AMAZING Batman/Marvel crossovers. I love all of their stuff (seriously, I wanted to list about a dozen works here), but three of my favorites are: Shake the Devil out of Me (Phil Coulson/Jason Todd, which somehow works super well), the Do Every Stupid Thing series (Jason saves Maria Stark's life and falls for Tony and Bucky after), and the Give Me Mercy series (organized crime au with a gloriously fucked-up... everyone. The second fic is Jason Todd having bad decision sex with Frank Castle. It's written and executed so well it rearranged my brain.)

3.) Ooh, that's a tough one. Probably luminous. Writing Bruce's POV is always difficult for me and I like how it reads in this one. I also like what I did with the concept of alternate universes-- changes to Bruce changed a lot, but not the basic timeline, so I got to write identical events and give them emotional associations that vary wildly depending on their narrator.

Also, the question of how Bruce reconciles his grief for the son he lost with the son who comes back is endlessly, endlessly interesting to poke with sticks. (Do you ever really stop grieving someone who got resurrected?)

Honorary mentions: "dried bloodstains" for conversations that vary wildly depending on whose perspective you're reading them from; "5:44 pm" for a depiction of grief I did well.

9.) Midnighter/Apollo. They're ridiculously intertwined and deranged and I love them.

19.) Jayroy! I've got a few WIPs focused on them, including a mostly smutty one, that I'm excited to finish. I think I need to read more Roy outside of RHATO to do his character justice first, though.

28.) Metal Tables. I made two friends after I wrote it who very much want to shake me for that one (in a complimentary fashion. I asked). It was fun to subject M and Apollo-- who are functionally invulnerable-- to new forms of trauma. I liked writing M's absence of pain/overwhelming stress as painful in and of itself.

I love when the bodyswap trope is used for angst.

wow, really? that's brave - i hardly dare to read fics while at work haha xD taking a break from typing sounds smart, though. sprains are always a pain in the ass, esp when you have to type in order to be able to do your job. happens to me one too many times. lmao. besides that; a threesome? ooh is it a new idea, or one of the fics-in-progress you've mentioned already?
