songs/song lyrics that remind me of Maglor
Your Needs, My Needs- Noah Kahn, "You were a work of art that's the hardest part " any song is Maglor thinking about Maedhros if I try hard enough but it takes a special kind of sad song to make me think of him reflecting on the deaths of his entire family.
Passerine - The Oh Hellos, "My palms and fingers still reek of gasoline from throwing fuel to the fire of that Greco-Roman dream" I can't actually explain this one, but its very Maglor.
Kyoto- Phoebe Bridgers "I don't forgive you but please don't hold me to it, born under scorpio skies" I don't think Maglor ever quite forgave Fëanor for dying and dragging them all down with him so a song about not quite forgiving your father, despite all the pain of wanting to and wanting to know him felt fitting.
Fable- Gigi Perez, "when I lifted her urn, divinity says destiny can't be earned or returned" Ahhh desperately hoping you'll see your beloved sibling/s when you die, while being afraid you won't as a result of your actions... good stuff
Who we are - Hozier "you and I burned out our steam chasing someone else's dream" If you think about the use of the endearments in a familial sense you very much end up with late stage Maglor and Maedhros
This Will End- The Oh Hellos "so I will wait for this to end, the back and forth the battery, for you at last to comprehend, the kind of love of which I speak" Very late stage almost at the end, like El squared is actively being shipped off to Gil-Galad kidnap fam.
Ghost on the shore- Lord Huron "I'm just a man but I know that I'm damned all the dead seem to know where I am" The title alone screams Maglor, but the song itself is so lonely and sad and desperate that it very much reminds me of Maglor just wandering, fading into the ocean.
In Memoriam- The Oh Hellos, "Well it's a long way out to reach the sea, but I'm sure I'll find you waiting there for me, by the time I blink I'll see your wide arms swinging" last Oh Hellos song for Maglor BUT OH MY GOD again this whole song gives sad grieving Maglor (with some repentance thrown in I suppose)
Foreigners God- Hozier "screaming the name of a foreigner's god the purest expression of grief" calling the name of a god that you either don't believe in or that no longer belongs to you out of grief for a war torn land and your own loss is again very post WoW Maglor.
Grown Ocean- Fleet Foxes, "children grown on the edge of the ocean kept like jewelry kept with devotion" again kidnap fam
