You know you're a (Canadian) archivist when you have RAD on the bookmarks toolbars of every single one of your browsers.
#the valley is posting#extremely niche posts#that's the rules for archival description baybeeeeeeee#sure it's old and bloated and you only really use it for file-level description and below since it's too much detail for anything higher#but; and this is important; only canadian archivists are allowed to talk shit about it#the moment anyone else starts asking why you don't just use isad(g) for everything and have done with it#we all become its staunchest defenders#it gives you guidance when you do have the opportunity to describe at such a granular level! sure; it could do with an update#but so could every single other archival standard out there#every canadian archivist i know has a copy of rad. even the ones who don't like it have a copy of rad.#they inject it into our bloodstream like a tracker when we start the mas and it stays there forever#so i may be a little tipsy and apparently i get into an archivist state of mind when i'm tipsy
