How to remain productive with online classes:
A few tips from a broke neuro-divergent academic
Try and wake up early, and go to bed early too. I’m not saying get up at 5 (unless that’s you’re thing) but sleeping into noon is a productivity blackhole. I go for 8 or 8:30, generally, but that’s just what works for me.
Get dressed for the day. I’m not talking like, jeans and a business casual outfit, but a clean pair of sweatpants, fresh underwear, and a new shirt can really put you in the mood for a new morning.
Have a workspace. Whether it be the kitchen table, a desk, a spot on the floor with a lap desk, have a place that’s dedicated to your work. Have items that signify that workspace too, like your book, planner, laptop, lamp, whatever. It can help you get into the zone, being in that space.
Have a morning drink. I choose earl grey tea with honey and cream, but black coffee, herbal tea, lemon water, whatever works for you is awesome, as long as itll wake you up and start your day.
To do lists. To do lists and to do lists and more to do lists. I have three. One is a post it weekly planner deal (3.99 at a local grocery store). it’s a weekly spread already set up, and if you’re anything like me, its really hard to set up a weekly spread. Then I have an app called Ike. I have a daily to do list I write on that app, and then I have four more to-do lists of what I have to for each specific class.
Spread out your assignments. Don’t overwhelm yourself. If you’re professors are like mine, and have the due date for each module as Sunday at midnight. What I do is spread out all my assignments from Monday to Saturday, and I leave Sunday blank, so anything I didn’t do that week, I finish on Sunday. It works for me, it might work for you.
Have a folder for each class, and a notebook for each class. I hate spending money, I’m broke as hell, sono al verde as the Italians say, but a 0.99 cent folder and a 0.25 cent notebook can do wonders for motivating one to fill them up.
Study with a drink. Tea, water, coffee, whatever, but my go to is generally a warm drink. I cannot study if I’m cold, I get tired and groggy, so warm socks, a robe, and a hot drink really keep me going.
Take breaks. Make time for your hobbies, for something fun. Working without stopping absolutely destroys my motivation, and let me tell you, when I feel like that, an episode of Avatar and a snack gets me right back on the wagon.
Do self check ins. Does your back hurt? Are you sad? Stressed? Do you have to pee? Are you hungry? Never put your homework over your health. You won’t be able to get anything done well anyway if you’ve got those blocks.
Most importantly, get enough sleep. I beg of you. Sleep is so important, and it’s the game changer, at least to me. We as students have such an amazing opportunity to get more sleep than we ever have before during the year. Take advantage of that.

I know I’m back to uni tomorrow but I learned that it’s important to still have hobbies and personal projects I can turn to outside of academics. For sanity and self care’s sake.

Scientists have created a mutant enzyme that breaks down plastic drinks bottles – by accident. The breakthrough could help solve the global plastic pollution crisis by enabling for the first time the full recycling of bottles.
The new research was spurred by the discovery in 2016 of the first bacterium that had naturally evolved to eat plastic, at a waste dump in Japan. Scientists have now revealed the detailed structure of the crucial enzyme produced by the bug.
The international team then tweaked the enzyme to see how it had evolved, but tests showed they had inadvertently made the molecule even better at breaking down the PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic used for soft drink bottles. “What actually turned out was we improved the enzyme, which was a bit of a shock,” said Prof John McGeehan, at the University of Portsmouth, UK, who led the research. “It’s great and a real finding.”

Hi everyone! I’m Saima, a newly enrolled psych studying undergrad in London!
I’ve been following the studyblr community for quite some time , ( I follow with my main account - @moodyamygdalae ) , and have been meaning to create a studyblr but have never got round to it.🙈🙊 I guess I really wanted to make sure I knew all the ins and outs of how to become a part of such a motivating community. Righto, here goes , and please feel free to inbox me at any time regarding absolutely anything!
So who the donkeys am I?
An 18 year old who has just started BSc Psychology at a London ( UK) university.
I studied Psychology, English Lit and History at A Level and Biology as an AS.
I’m from 🇵🇰 but have been born and brought up in England.
I can speak English, Urdu and Punjabi
I really want to learn French again (I can understand some)
Ravenclaw, Wampus and my wand is a Pine Wood with Unicorn Hair 10 ¾" and Supple Flexibility
Favourite colours are always hard to choose but I’d say blue and green shades
I really like photography especially landscapes and just aesthetic things!
I do a lot of extra reading around Psychology
I really really enjoy it
Not too sure what I want to persue in the future but 10000% it’s a branch of psychology, hence why my degree is a straight one.
I’m an INFJ-T, which I think runs true for me
I have lots of interests, but anything Harry potter related and I’m there!
I like cricket a lot( the sport that is!🙊🙈)
I like quotes so I think I’ll be reposting slash posting s lot of those to motivate and inspire.. hopefully!
I like memory and cognitive even though I find it really challenging. I’m not too sure what area of psychology I like … I just know I like it.😏
I am an introvert
I also run another side blog @shezadi which is an accumulation of a lot of things and interests really.
I also run a blog which can be found here ➡️ https://moodyamygdalae.wordpress.com
Tv shows and movies anything slightly romcomy, and action , fantasy
Always on the lookout for more shows and movies so please do reccommend
I also run a twitter account , the Twitter handle is the same as my main Tumblr account (moodyamygadale) so do add if you wish to
This is a side blog so I follow etc on @moodyamygdalae
The thinking behind the name is that the amygdala is responsible for emotion in the brain, and the singular?of that it amygdalae. Moody - because well emotions and moods
My tags are #SAIMASTUDIESPSYCHOLOGY and #saimastudiespsychology….. is that how it works?
Why did I finally decide to make a studyblr ?
Well my friends, (I do hope I become friends with you), I really don’t want to fall behind at uni. It’s already a heavy workload, and I don’t want to scumber to the evils of procastination(the Ted Talk on that really resonates with me). I want to be more motivated to study and work hard and inshallah, get a first(🙊🙈). Legitimately every time I log on to Tumblr, and scroll I feel the urge to stop and just study After looking at all your beautiful images and productivity sessions. That’s another thing I want to do to get started in to the world of academia, begin a 100 day productivity challenge.
Some of the many studyblrs I follow and admire that have helped me hustle harder
This is not an extensive list but here goes; IT ONLY LETS ME TAG 50 😭
@nerdastically @studydiaryofamedstudent @studytherin @thesmartstudies @lucystudiess @emmastudies @productivityatm @studentsandlattes @brai-nstem @samsstudygram @elrood @studyspiration-coffee @jasperstudies @psychologyandcriminology @psychblr @psychology-studyblr @psych-state-of-mind @earlgreypsychblr @thisgradschoollife @studyblrwithoutnameus @emmastvdies @pstudyblrycho @alleviating-minds @hiddlesblr @studyblrblackbird @stoodyblr @chandlerstudies @tiffanystudies @pilldiary @meganstudiespsych @trains-come-every2hours @psychology-diary @psycheduplj @zacstudycorner @el-gets-psyched @eintsein @obliviatestudies @constellationstudies @dungeonstudy @abbystudiestherapy @rainy-days-of-studying @universtudy @standardunistudent @mystudentid @theorganisedstudent-x , @studyign ,@obsidianstudy
But yes, am looking forward to starting this journey with such an amazing community!
Peace,
Saima

Hi everybody! I’ve gotten a couple of requests for this post, so I thought I’d finally put together my process for making a weekly spread!
Disclaimer: This is simply a system I find to be simple and doable for everyday life. By no means is this the only way or the best way to bullet journal! It’s just a way that I find to be realistic and aesthetically pleasing.
Before we start: most of my layout is based on @studypunked’s and the moodboard I used was made for me by @sapphiccstudies!
Supplies I used: Hardcover black Moleskine (grid paper); Green Mildliner; Pilot Hi-Tec-C 05 gel pen; Pony Brown stickers; Clear tape
Step 1: Decide on a color scheme! I always choose a monthly theme (for example, January’s was outer space and March’s was plants). Then, for each week I choose a subtheme! (ex. the first week of January was moon phases.) Then, I choose a Mildliner color that matches the theme. This week, I used a pink moodboard with green accents, so I used a green mildliner!
Step 2: Weekly planning
I list the week number at the top of the page, and underneath that I put the dates within the week. (This has no purpose other than making me feel organized.) Then, below that I like to make a little monthly calendar (because it’s surprisingly often that I need to know what day of the week a certain date is!) Finally, below that I have a weekly schedule. This is where I write the dates of any tests, quizzes, projects, holidays, birthdays, etc! Generally, these are transferred from my monthly event calendar.
Step 3: Weekly tasks
This step makes my job pretty easy throughout the week! It’s as simple as listing the date and then making check boxes next to any tasks for the week. (This way, I don’t have to worry about much on days when I’m busy.)
Step 4: Finding images
Finally, the weekend rolls around and I’m ready to get into the fun stuff! Usually, here’s where I scour Google Images (I like to use the keywords ‘tumblr’ and ‘aesthetic’ along with my chosen color and theme) for pictures, but this week was easy for me thanks to a moodboard :)
Step 5: Drawings
After choosing my images (usually three, but it’s summer and I don’t have many tasks so I used six) I draw some stuff that goes with the theme in anywhere there will be empty space. Sometimes I also look for quotes and get a little prwctice with typography!
Step 6: Arrange and paste images
I play around with the layout of the images until I find the arrangement I like best, then use little loops of scotch tape to paste them down (usually straight but sometimes crooked if I’m feeling artsy)
Bonus Step: Add Stickers!
I only sometimes do this, but the gist of this is “put them wherever you want, but not too many because stickers are expensive.”
And Voilà! Here’s the finished product:

My bullet journal spread for the week! This was inspired by a moodboard made for me by @sapphiccstudies (I still can’t believe how talented she is at making these tbh) Tomorrow I’ll post a behind-the-scenes of how I make my weekly spreads, so stay tuned!
