Forbidden Love | Enemies to Lovers| BL| Romance| AA
TW: This story will include triggering topics which include: Racism SA, Bulying, Homophobia,Abuse, Self H*rm, and Attempted S***ide. If you are triggered by any of these things close this and pick a new story to read. It's okay, nobody will be hurt take care of yourself and do what YOU need to do.
(18+ minors "dni") ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After getting this years schedule you make your way down the large hallways of Everleaf High feeling like a cliché Disney bi**h looking up and down as you count down the numbers on the doors.
"425..424..423..422..421.. and - "
Before you can finish your whispering
" last name "
You look up and see a younger white male with platinum bond hair and dark brown eyes and the most beautiful pink lips ( the face kind ya nasties) you count the wrinkles in his forehead as he waits for you answer with a smile.
" oh um my bad you reminded me of someone I saw on TikTok but (y/ln) "
The teacher sucks air through his teeth in a rhythmic pattern while he searches for your last name.. "ah found it luv."
The moment you hear the word luv seep from his lips your entire body melts and you get a slight bo*er. In that moment which was only a second you imagine all of the thing you would do and let that man do to you if he weren't your teacher.
You snap out of your fantasy and beging to walk in when he calls your name
"Hey y/n.. Danny ? "
"Huh" you say confused still high off pure lust
" the person I remind you of.. is it Danny"
"OH YEAH that's him" you burst into a chuckle which is very abruptly ended when you hear his voice. A voice that makes you shake to your core. A voice that makes EVERY SINGLE BONE IN YOUR BODY ache with pain.
" WHAT THE F**K IS SO FUNNY YOU F*G BAG "
" fuc***g Issac" you say to your self as you put your stuff down at the desk that the black girl with the locs called you to sit at.
" ISSAC,"you say with a sigh "How can someone who claims to hate me so bad be so fu***ng obsessed with me." As you say this you get closer and closer to him slowly changing your voice and posture from argumentative to seductive and sexy. " I mean I know that when ever I come into the room your little friend starts to.. jump .. In your pants but come oon if you want me all you have to do is say it. No need to put on this tough boy act in front of your little friends." You turn to his friend Jax on the right and wink at him before you turn around and walk back to your seat as the whole class including the teacher watches as Issac just sits in silence with a shadow of anger hidden embarrassment over his eyes.
" I KNEW I WAS RIGHT TO ASK YOU TO SIT NEXT TO ME" the girl from earlier says with the biggest smile on her face showing off all of her dimples. " Somali nice to meet you." She stands up and holds out both of her hands.
Pulling you into a hug " Y/N" say when you finally pulled away from the hug.
The rest of the period was pretty much just going over the syllabus, and what the class was going to be like.
Although having so much fun, talking to your new friend Somali, you can't help but feel the intensive gaze of his eyes.
Final Term Blog
The Entrepreneurial Mind Journey
The journey sometimes felt like a slow walk on silver pavements. Sometimes it felt like a breath-stealing sprint that never let me have a break to see how far I've gone. In simpler words, the whole experience in this subject felt like a whirlwind of good and nerve-wracking emotions.
The first day of our class for the Entrepreneurial Mind subject was a nostalgic experience. It was like returning to a home I used to live in, bringing both warm and melancholic feelings about my past and the future I never pursued. I didn't feel regretful of leaving the College of Business and Management. It made me realize how people can be happy in different places for different reasons. How flowers can flourish in different environments. The discussions and activities in the subject were both familiar and strange. Some of the discussions were topics I already learned in the past, but the performance tasks were completely out of what I was used to.
Pitching Experience
The final pitching was bombarded with unexpected occurrences. We all had designated tasks divided according to our skills and fortes. I was assigned to the financial planning, but two hours before the pitching, we had to change the presenter because the one originally chosen by the group fell ill and was rendered unable to present. My groupmates encouraged me to take up the challenge, and so, with less than an hour of practice, I had to brave my way through the experience and give my best for the group.
We brought the prototype of the product we created: crafting paper out of mahogany leaves. In the Philippines, where mahogany poses a threat to biodiversity as a non-native species, we saw an opportunity to turn a challenge into a triumph. By harnessing these overlooked leaves abundant on our university grounds, we unveil a marvel: crafting paper of unparalleled quality and conscience. With each sheet, we rewrite the narrative of paper production. Gone are the days of ecological compromise. In its place stands a sustainable alternative, born from the resilience of nature herself.
One of the highlights of my experience in this subject was the creation of our promotional video. I was able to take a breath from writing a mountain of papers for political science and was able to act as a Barbie with a purpose. I had fun acting in the video and at the same time raising awareness about mahogany leaves and environmental preservation.
Lecture Series
The culmination of our journey with the subject was the Entrepreneurial Mind Lecture Series Program 2024 which featured a stellar lineup of speakers with a wide range of expertise in related but distinct fields discussing an abundance of topics. With the lecture series, I now have a better understanding of startups and businesses. The topic of conversation included how businesses grow quickly at first and eventually settle into a fairly stable state. Furthermore, not everyone who begins to sell products is launching a new business. The start of an entrepreneurial endeavor is associated with the term startup. It goes hand in hand with presenting something fresh and inventive. One of the most intriguing things I also discovered is that you cannot sue someone for allegedly stealing their inventions.
Parting Words
As this chapter ends, one of its greatest impacts is that it strengthened my bond with my friends. We were able to work together to accomplish great things. We learned, we laughed, and we improved together. We enjoyed the journey, and are now ready to move forward.
My heartfelt thanks to our teacher, Mr. Reymark Menguito, for being a sympathetic person who understood how challenging college life could be and gave us the best considerations he can.
Blog #4
Failure in business does not make you a bad businessmen/businesswomen, there is always a room for improvement which is open to everyone.
I could still picture out in my mind how we started our class in entrepreneur and now, we are at the end of the semester. Oh, how time flies too fast. The moments that we found out about the pitching and everyone were scared, it was still fresh in my memory. I am so proud of my groupmates who happened to be my friends who were always dedicated to their work. We never thought that we could make it. At first, the Everleaf was just a requirement that we must do our best to have a good grade, but now, we learned to love that product. We learned about so many things. We learned that innovation is not an easy thing, it was a trial and error, but we still manage to make it through this far. The final pitching experience was a great challenge to me. Personally, I faced a lot of hindrances that time. Night before the final pitching, we experienced brownout in our community. That event wasted the time that I supposed to polish our BMC. In the morning, I was bombarded with my household chores and responsibilities as a child and I do not have a choice but to do it first before prioritizing my self. After that, I was finally able to start my part in BMC. I was supposed to travel from home at 11:30 AM because transportation is not that accessible in our vicinity at that period of time. However, as aforementioned, I had house responsibilities to fulfill. On 12:00 pm, went to the road to wait for busses to stop by, but sadly, I was able to ride at 12:36 pm. I really can't forget the time because I almost missed our final pitching and the final papers or the BMC was with me. Gladly, our Entrep adviser favored us and he decided to start at 1:20 so I was able to catch up. I thank the Almighty God for being with us that day and for the success of the Final Pitching of everleaf. Lastly, I would also like to thank the advisers of Entrepreneurial Mind course for pursuing the Lecture series. It opens up many opportunities for us students. It made me realize that innovation is not an easy thing and trial and error is part of the process, and we must not give up. Instead, heads up, and make those experiences, trials, and errors be one of our inspiration and motivation to aim higher and achieve the things we wanted.
It was a long journey, but we made it.
Photos were documentations from our first pitching experience, to midterm pitching, and final pitching.
Thank you, Sir Reymark for this wonderful opportunity for us to experience these activities.
Below is the video presentation of Everleaf.
A blog entry of a purple and pinky girly in her way to unravel the botheration and worriment of CMUans in their university journey.
HERE'S WHY
Second blog for final term
The journey of the entrepreneurial mind is marked with jubilant experiences. From the first day of the class with a creative introduction about ourselves, exercises that challenge our visual, analytical, and critical thinking, journey for our innovation and pitching, and to the lecture series that concludes our entrepreneurial mind journey.
The process of making a paper is challenging. We had to consider weather conditions, the availability of our time since we have classes everyday and academic papers to work, and organizations to attend to. However, we persevere because we dreamed of being part of the environmental solution. We dreamed of connecting creativity, innovation, and sustainability and we survived! We delivered! Because the art of imparting change lies in the heart of the 8 girlies who are environmentally conscious and protectors.
Hence, when we finally made a paper out of discarded mahogany leaves which is also an invasive leaf that needs to be eradicated, we were over the moon because we knew, we succeeded in making an effort for the environment.
EverLeaf Paper
EverLeaf Product or Crafting Paper
When we had our pitching, we were happy that we did not get grilled in front like what happened during the midterm pitching (kidding haha). It was actually a successful pitching because we were uploaded and affirmed by the panel. Truly, the journey of making a paper out of discarded leaves is difficult and because of the comments of the panel, we feel reciprocated. Yes, it is true that if you advocate for a good cause, you should not wait for recognition, but getting affirmed and uploaded is everything. Hence our experience for the midterm pitching is a memorable one because of the ones making it possible and the panel who genuinely recognize our product.
Final term pitching
Lastly, during the lecture series I learned about the importance of learning about the start up and how we are being part of the start ecosystem because we are a part of the environment. Hence, by availing services and product of the start up, we constitute and make up the start up ecosystem. I also learned about TikTok and google that started as a start up and how they developed and this opened my mind that something new is actually a start up. Finally, I learned about the importance of patents. As someone studying political science, the law for intellectual property, however, I did not know that you have to patent your product or services internationally to gain ownership of it. Hence, the lecture series is very informative because it gives me new insight of the things that I need to know.
Lecture series picture
Overall, the Entrepreneurial Mind subject is not only informative and challenging since we have to generate or innovate a product or services but it is also fun and exciting. And I had fun the whole semester. It is a blasting experience.
BLOG #3 EVERLEAF REBRANDING
Business is never just about profit or innovating an income generating product that will persuade the target market and panel that your product is worth investing but it encompasses people, marketing, and coping strategies/mechanisms. I have come to realize that doing business is never for the faint-hearted. You have to come up with a lot of concept plan with a lot of options and strategies available for any situation—may be an expected or unexpected/unforeseen ones. Personality in terms of working with your group and intra personality in coping with difficulties, rejection, and success are important. One wrong move could falter the whole operations of the group hence, one must know how to carry one's self. As a leader, I must know how to handle inactive membership properly despite everyone's temper and impatience. Furthermore, I must also know how to carry the whole organization and make sure that it will not crumble due to minor and major setbacks. In other words, I must be dynamic with the changes that may surge whenever and wherever.
Therefore, the rebranding of EverLeaf is not just changing the concept — main product from printable paper into scrapbook paper but it is also the rebranding of techniques, attitudes, and mechanisms.
EXPERIENCE
MIDTERM PITCHING
Group Photos before Midterm Pitching
Before Midterm Pitching
Before the midterm pitching, I was really tense and stressed as one of the members of the group went Missing In Action (MIA) during the night of final revision of the BMC. As the leader, I have to bridge the shortcomings of our members by filling out her task. I extended my patience because I know, she's an irregular student but the frequency of her being inactive is really frequent and the majority of the members are already mad because instead of being apologetic, she ghosted us and left the group which is a really disrespectful move. Nonetheless, we managed to complete the BMC at 4 AM. In the morning, after our class, I contacted the food resto for the lunch delivery of the panel and worked with the Physics class for the token. We then gathered and talked about the possible questions to be thrown at. We dolled ourselves to ease the tension and waited for the pitching.
During Midterm Pitching
With the midterm pitching, I can say that it is a nerve wracking experience. I would re-evaluate myself a lot given that I carried the most volumed pressure in pitching the idea to the panels. It eventually relied on my communication skills to persuade the panel that our concept is innovative, original, and worth the investment. My hands were shaking during the pitching, I was almost out of breath due to the nervousness on the time, and I cannot hear anything on the audience but the thump on my heart kept on getting louder and louder that I felt like there's a rope on my neck, ready to snap anytime if I make a mistake. A sound of relief and a deep breath were exuded after my pitching but I am fully aware that my pitching skills were still not enough and so, I pledged on to myself that I will be better in the next pitching.
During Q and A, I have a lot to answer especially in terms of originality of concept. I can use Josh Mojica's Kangkong Chips as the baseline of our argument as to how, there were already an existing concept on other regions but due to his effective marketing, he was able to make the product as his trademark product. The fact that environmental friendly and sustainable products are needed as an alternative to the consumerism issues present in the university are badly needed by the administration, this means that our product itself is worth investing because it is relevant to the current status quo. However, I felt like I am tongue-tied during the Q and A as I was not able to open my mouth and be confident with our product despite it was my idea.
This led me to numerous realizations. I have come to my senses that to venture the business world, I must not let my what ifs and thoughts on what I could have done prevail for a long time. I must not let it stick upon me as it will hinder my steps toward growth and development. As it may help in devising strategies. What I should do is focus on the present and not overthink my mistakes because mistakes are still milestones towards success. It brought lessons and open new dimensions on what to look at. It widen narrow perspectives that are vital in improving personalities, concepts, and techniques.
After Midterm Pitching
After the midterm pitching, we had our Rejection Therapy which is a very embarrassing activity as we have to gather our courage to interview random students. It may be very humiliating but it was fun because I was able to step out from my comfort zone. It was a really tiring day. I had no sleep that night, went pitching then did our Rejection Therapy. It was nonetheless productive.
We then conducted an interview to consolidate our target market's perception.
INTERVIEW
Photos during Interview
Before Interview
We met at the Pateran at College Park for a short meeting with the agenda of: Timeline of Activities, Collection, Questions for the Interview, and the Final Product. We already plotted the necessary to-do list and we parted ways to do our interview.
During the Interview
It was really smooth because once we spread out, we were able to find our interviewees, both first year students and one outside the main gate. I can say, this was the smoothest interview activity we had so far because of the fast-paced interview.
After the Interview
We consolidated our reports for the creation of figures and revision of BMC.
FIGURES OF RESULTS
To completely rebrand EverLeaf, we have interviewed 10 students with regards to the 1) Marketability/Availability, (2) Price, and (3) Improvement.
Marketability/Availability
As for the question of "Would you buy our product if it is already available in the market?", 40 percent of the 10 interviewees answered depends on the price and quality since they are still skeptical if it is actually worth the price and if we can achieve our goal for the quality however, as long as the price justified the product quality, they said they will avail. 30 percent answered Yes while 20 percent on the possibly, and 20 percent on the seasonality of needs.
Yes - 3
Possibly - 1
As for the second question, "What are the justifiable prices for the following sizes of paper?"
The following are the results:
As for the question "What are the aspects that need to be leveled up by the innovators to be able to compete in the market?" The following are the results:
Uniqueness - 2
Product quality & price - 4
Special Question
During our Midterm Pitching, one of the questions being thrown at us was the "Dili ba ninyo mahurot ang leaves sa mga kahoy if ever mudako inyo scope and naa ba moy investors?" And so, we asked this as a bonus question towards our interviewees and they answered us with "NO". In fact, we could help save the environment more because we don't have to cut trees and wait for it to regrow for a lot of years to create paper.
REFLECTION
All in all, I can say that we are nearing the end of our entrepreneurial journey and it may be a new sphere of learning but through this subject, I was able to enter new borders of horizons for growth and learning especially in the corporate and business world. Through the dynamic and supportive guidance of our instructor, I was able to enhance my leadership, communication skills, and knowledge on business as I am also hinting an interest in making my own business in the future.
APPLICATION
In the real world, this entrepreneur experience is just the tip of an iceberg of how complex and stressful having a business especially, an innovation. You have to go through an up and down cycle of success and rejection and you need to have a solid, unwavering heart, and flaming passion for business. I was able to experience a glimpse of both rejection and success but it taught me to be strong and not doubt our capabilities. I have come to realize that you must believe in your creation first in order for you to persuade your buyers effectively. One lesson I also acquired is to seek support from people who truly believe in you.
Final Term 1st Blog: Beyond the Pitch
MIDTERM PITCH.
On Valentine's Day, while others celebrated with flowers and chocolates with their love ones, our section in 'The Entrepreneurial Mind' class was preparing for our midterm pitching session. Despite the romantic atmosphere around us, we were completely focused on the upcoming challenge as we were gearing up for our midterm pitching session.
This is us —preparing, rehearsing, and finalizing everything— hours before the pitching schedule. We were actually assigned to pitch first, which is why we're preparing not only our papers and tools for the session but, most importantly, our mental state.
Now, here comes the moment of truth—pitching time. Well, I wasn't actually the pitcher in our group, but that didn’t spare me the nerves. As we stood together at the front of the room, I could feel the tension amongst us. The room was packed with our group and the panelist together with our instructor, the stakes were high, and every pair of eyes seemed to scrutinize our every move and word.
Even though the environment was high-pressure, we all shared a sense of camaraderie and a strong desire to succeed. It was strange to spend Valentine’s Day battling for grades instead of indulging in its festivities, but in that moment, our priorities were clear—we needed to nail this pitch. The session ended with a round of applause, a mix of relief and pride washing over us. As we finish the pitching and defended our product, it was evident that regardless of the outcome, we had supported each other and delivered our best under pressure. It was certainly a Valentine’s Day to remember, not for romantic reasons, but for the unforgettable experience, uniting to support our shared goals.
INTERVIEW.
—Before the interview. Our meeting at the Pateran in College Park centered around several important topics. Firstly, we set a Timeline of Activities; secondly, we planned on our collection procedures, thirdly, we crafted our interview questions; lastly, defining the scope of the Final Product. With our agenda mapped out, we headed off to conduct interviews.
—During the interview. Our interview initiative progressed seamlessly as we divided and conquered, promptly identifying our interviewees, comprising first-year students and one individual outside the main gate. On my part, I have quickly build a good rapport with my interviewee so I did not have difficulties communicating and interviewing her even though she's somehow camera-shy. I must conform that this is actually our smoothest and fastest interview so far.
INTERVIEW RESULTS.
In our efforts to rebrand EverLeaf comprehensively, we engaged in interviews with 10 students, focusing on: 1) Marketability/Availability, 2) Pricing Considerations, and 3) Suggestions for Improvement.
Marketability/Availability Regarding the query of whether they would purchase our product upon its market launch, responses from the 10 interviewees varied. Forty percent stated that their decision would depend on both the price and quality. They voiced reservations about the product's value proposition and our ability to deliver on quality benchmarks. Nevertheless, they indicated that they would be willing to buy if the price justified the perceived quality. Conversely, 30 percent responded positively, while 20 percent expressed potential interest, and another 20 percent cited the seasonal aspect of their purchasing decisions.
Pricing Consideration As for the second question, "What are the justifiable prices for the following sizes of paper?"
The following are the results:
Improvements.
As for the question "What are the aspects that need to be leveled up by the innovators to be able to compete in the market?" The following are the results:
Uniqueness - 2
Product quality & price - 4
Sustainability & Durability - 1
Packaging & marketing strategies - 3
Special Question.
During our Midterm Pitching presentation, a critical question was raised by the panels: "Won't you deplete the leaves from trees if your scope increases, and do you have investors?" As a follow-up, we presented this question to our interviewees as a bonus query, receiving a unanimous "NO" in response. They highlighted the potential of our approach to bolster environmental conservation efforts, as it removes the need to harvest trees and endure prolonged regeneration periods to produce paper.
REFLECTION.
Encapsulating, it appears we're drawing close to the culmination of our entrepreneurial journey, heralding a new phase of learning. This subject has propelled me towards new heights of growth and insight, particularly within corporate and business contexts. With the invaluable support and mentorship of our instructor, I've bolstered my leadership, communication, and business proficiency, sparking a keen interest in pursuing entrepreneurship down the road.
Non-Alcoholic Spirits Worth A Try
Am I the only one who drinks both non-alcoholic and alcoholic spirits?
Earlier this year I became intrigued by the options in the non-alcoholic beverages field. After some research I trekked to a Boisson shop to check out the scene and possibly grab a bottle or two. My first impression was that the bottles are gorgeous (for the most part) and the price is just about identical to regular alcoholic spirits (boo!). But I get it--they are mixing magic using herbs, flavors and heaven knows what else--to mimic the taste of regular alcohol without the buzz and blast.
After 10 months of trying a bunch of different options--mostly in the apertif arena--here are a few I loved and would definitely not hesitate to purchase again:
Pentire Coastal Spritz. Gorgeous bottle, smooth taste.
Everleaf Mountain. Cherry Blossommmmmmm...
Fleure Bitter. Pretty bottle, herby bev.
Ish Gin. Excellent gin substitute.
Roots Divino. This bottle says "I'm worth a try" and it is!
Wilfred's. My first love. It will be yours.
So load up on club soda and tonic water and grab some oranges, limes and grapefruit. I'm kind of a boring bartender so it's mix these with either club soda or tonic. The business is still in its infancy but in time I'm sure they'll figure out how to make all these beverages taste more like the "real thing." It's definitely an interesting field and I'm glad I took a dive into it.
