Everest Base Camp Trek Cost

The above Everest Base Camp 12 day’s itinerary is a guide and a standard template of what we provide. Our trip can be customized at your request to include your specific requirements. Plus, we offer discounts for group members. See more on group booking discounts and available dates at the departure section.
Everest Base Camp Trek Difficulty
Every year, thousands of trekkers hike to Everest Base Camp. Taking at least 2 weeks to complete, the Everest Base Camp trek is referred to as challenging and difficult. Here are the major reasons why people find Everest Base Camp Trek difficult. The Everest Base Camp Trek distance is about 97 miles/156 km, commencing from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back, that includes hiking distance during acclimatization days in Namche and Dingboche. On average, you need to hike about 13-15 km each day for 11 days carrying your backpack.
The Everest trail is remote, rugged, and ascends upward and downward up to an elevation of 5,550m. This means, Everest Base Camp Trek is high-altitude trekking. Basically, with an increase in altitude, the oxygen level diminishes and can cause altitude sickness in some trekkers. Most participants will feel the effects of lower oxygen levels but a small percentage actually suffer from altitude sickness. The body needs time to develop a physiological mechanism in order to adapt to the decreased oxygen levels which is called acclimatization. Our itineraries allow time for acclimatization. For these reasons and more, the Everest Base Camp trek is difficult and challenging for the average trekker. Participants who regularly hike longer distances or have prior trekking experience at higher altitude will find Everest Base Camp Trek easier.
By following our Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary, the trekking guide instructions, and with some preparation through a fitness regimen, you will more easily accomplish the goal of reaching Everest Base Camp. To prepare for the Everest Base Camp trek, we recommend you do some regular bodyweight workouts, aerobic exercises such as running, cycling, or swimming activities in order to increase your endurance and stamina for the trek. If you are able to regularly exercise 3-4 times a week for about 2-3 months prior to the trek, it will likely be sufficient to prepare yourself.
Lukla Flight delay/cancellation: A must Read
Here are several factors you should know that is more likely to cause Lukla flight delay and cancellation: Tenzing Hillary Airport, also called Lukla airport is the only airstrip actively functioning in the Khumbu region. Increased airport congestion during peak season Narrow runway strip and position of Lukla airport. Unpredictable and changing weather of the mountain region Adverse climatic factors such as strong winds, low visibility, and low lying clouds during the monsoon and winter season.
Note: Every participant trekking to Everest Base Camp must consider the possible flight delay/cancellation and should plan ahead in advance. We suggest you to arrive 1 day before the Everest trek commences so that you have sufficient time to shop for any necessary trekking gear or to rest. We also recommend that you include another day after the scheduled trek to allow for potential delays into/out of the Khumbu region (if your itinerary does not already include this day), thus reducing the risk of missing your scheduled International flight. Altogether, we recommend you allow for a few extra days (2-3 days) for EBC trek.
When to visit Everest Base Camp?
You can trek to Everest Base Camp all year round. Each season or month has its own unique reasons for the trek. You can plan your trek accordingly to the time you prefer the most. The majority of trekkers prefer spring and autumn to do EBC Trek. Spring and fall will provide you with the best weather and the best mountain views. Spring falls in the month of March, April, and May. The vegetation starts to change during this time of the year. The clear blue sky can be seen, affording incredible views from every angle and many different species of flowers are visible in the lower altitude. Moreover, you will get a chance to meet climbers and mountaineers in the Everest Base Camp setting their tent and getting ready for the Everest expedition during spring season. Autumn falls in the month of September, October and November.
Like spring, this is the most favorable time for trekking that lets you enjoy the clear and spectacular views of the Himalayas. Winter comprises December, January, and February. Though this season is extremely cold compared to other seasons, you can still trek in winter. You will witness clear mountain views and fewer crowds during winter, but you need to be equipped with proper clothes to enjoy the trek. The monsoon season consists of June, July, and August. Usually, less people trek in this season due to the monsoon rainfall. Particularly, rain clouds and rainfalls in lower altitude region may hide the mountain views during this season. However, trekkers choose to trek in the monsoon, especially due to fewer crowds and spectacular views of waterfalls in the Everest region.

Here are several factors you should know that is more likely to cause Lukla flight delay and cancellation:Tenzing Hillary Airport, also called Lukla airport is the only airstrip actively functioning in the Khumbu region.Increased airport congestion during peak seasonNarrow runway strip and position of Lukla airport.Unpredictable and changing weather of the mountain regionAdverse climatic factors such as strong winds, low visibility, and low lying clouds during the monsoon and winter season.
Spring and fall will provide you with the best weather and the best mountain views.Spring falls in the month of March, April, and May.
