. . Next on the bench is @mathieusbrodenius 's #Eventide #H910 #Harmonizer . Complete restoration is on order for this unit which came from the great land of Sweden 😊 . . . Restoration of @motorbass 's @eventideaudio H910 (cont') . Last minor step before alignment: rebuilding the previously installed modification that allowed connecting audio signals directly on the front panel by means of three standard jack sockets . As the holes drilled for them into the thick, steel metal panel are of course permanent, I found it somewhat neatier just to replace the old school, open jack sockets (clearly designed for studio patchbays) with more modern, new "half-closed" chassis sockets that not only protrude much less than the old ones, but also look more elegant! 👌(decoration flat-head screws also had to be installed: even if the new jack sockets do not need them in order to be attached to the panel, the corresponding empty holes would have "destroyed" the elegance of the mod in this new version! 😉) . After finding a few dead op-amps in the D/A section, as well as the previously replaced 74C73 flip-flop on the digital board, it seems that the illness of this (1977) H910 has been mostly cured... 😊 . Seventh step has just started, and that will be a really long shot: installing the many replaced components on the HA920 ("analog") board . Presently beginning by rebuilding the block of four, ganged, "Pitch Mode Control" switches. Original block had actually already been replaced with more recent switches, but those were NOT interlocked, so the user could unintenionally choose TWO (or even more) pitch modes at the same time! which would have resulted in unpredictable behavior of the PLL section, and so of the harmonizing function of the H910... 😨 . Switch gang is ready. Sixth step (reinstalling the power supply section of the chassis) just completed: new Mains inlet fitted in (that ressembles the original one much more); solder joints on the inlet have been correctly sleeved for increased isolation and protection; old, aging +15V regulator has been replaced with a more modern and more precise MC7815ABTG (from ON Semi); and, last but not least, fresh-new thermal paste has been added underneath both +15V and +5V regulators... Presently crimping new contacts on the rebuilt Mains input cable: the correct #Molex tool for the job (crimping KK396 Series female contacts for cable housings) and you're done in less than a few minutes! .
