Did the best moment of your life happen at summer camp? >> You ever get to that point where you just resign yourself to taking surveys you’ve already taken? Because I’m pretty sure I’ve taken 75% of the surveys I run into but it’s not like there’s a great influx of new surveys to take, so what’s a motherfucker to do but just make repeat performances... Anyway, some really great moments have happened to me at summer camp; I’m pretty nostalgic about the camps I’ve gone to at Easton Mountain. They were great experiences, even with the bullshit that sometimes happened.
Do you get tired of fakebook? lol >> I’m just tired of facebook in general -- how ubiquitous it is, how much data it collects and what it does with said data, everything about Mark Zuckerberg, etc. How random people behave on facebook is of much less concern to me than the above.
Are you a poser on facebook or are you real? >> I don’t really use facebook. I have one for the purposes of establishing lines of contact, and that’s it.
Are you a people pleaser? >> I wouldn’t say that.
Do you get irritated a lot? >> Not a lot, no. Irritation is a pretty obvious red flag for me -- if I feel irritated it’s probably because I’ve let some important need of mine go unfulfilled, like hunger or sleep or emotional processing. Or I’ve fallen into a depressive episode.
What's something you've realized about yourself lately? >> Eh, nothing really stands out as particularly revelatory.
Do you know a lot of idiots? >> I don’t know any idiots.
Do you want a puppy or a kitty? >> No.
Do you hate that some people are stuck-up? >> No, because that’s not really been my experience with people.
Would you rather be poor and humble or rich and snooty? >> See, the thing about this is... I’ve only been poor. And for one, I don’t think being poor means I’m automatically humble, I think it means that I have to look at life and at other people in a different way than I would if I wasn’t in this position. It means I have to acknowledge my socioeconomic dependence, which means treating people like objects or means to an end is significantly more disadvantageous to me than it would be to a rich person. It means I have to budget my indulgences, and can’t just be capricious and lavish with my spending, and I can’t just throw money at a problem to make it go away. I don’t know what it would be like to be rich -- I don’t know how having those advantages would change me as a person, and I don’t know what unseen disadvantages would arise. I know who I am now, and despite the hardships of being below the poverty line as an individual (and only a little less so as a member of a household), I more-or-less like how I am. I see no reason to complicate things.
Do you know any humble rich people? >> I don’t know any actually rich people at all. I know upper middle class folks because Sparrow is related to them, but while they do seem to lack class consciousness a lot of the time, they still mostly live in a reality I can halfway comprehend.
Do you hate the millennial stereotype? >> Not really. It doesn’t affect me. But I don’t encourage people to spout that nonsense, either.
Do you think everyone should have a right to live, and by that I mean live a comfortable life? >> The problem with this is that, as a human being who is invested in lessening suffering for all living creatures, I feel as though people should have this right. Unfortunately, as a human being who is equipped with the ability to think about things critically and logically, I think that it makes no practical sense. What I do think is that social systems can absolutely stand to be more supportive to all peoples, and we should absolutely work towards that. We should always seek ways to ease suffering. But we should also expect that even our striving has the possibility of creating suffering, and weigh that against the good we believe we’re doing. It’s just a constant process, I think. Trying to be more conscientious and more humane humans than the humans that came before us.
Does your religion or spirituality teach you to love your enemies? >> I don’t have any of those things.
Do you love your enemies? >> I don’t have any enemies, and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t love them if I did. Otherwise, why would they be enemies in the first place then?
Do you struggle to love your enemies? >> ---
Are you bothered by things that have been done to you in the past? >> Yeah, that’s kind of what being post-traumatic is.
Do you hate bullying? >> I mean, I don’t think it’s great.
Do you get bullied frequently? >> No.
Do you often wish you could go to sleep and not wake up until something good happens? >> I’ve wished that before.
How many people do you know who are suicidal? >> I don’t know how many people I know are suicidal. I’m not really... keeping track, you dig. Also, not everyone who is suicidal talks about being suicidal.
Do you read advice columns? >> I read Ask Polly sometimes, I think she has a lot of thoughtful and compassionate and passionate things to say.
Have you ever used a dating site? >> Yeah.
Do you want a fairy godmother? >> No.
Do you enjoy watching talent shows? >> Not especially. America’s Got Talent has had a few episodes that interested me, but I don’t watch it regularly.
Which cartoon character would you want to play you in a movie? >> ---
What is something you do not understand? >> Oh, you know. Calculus and stuff.
Do you know anyone who is spoiled? >> I don’t think so.
Do you think cars are ugly? >> All cars??? Of course not. There are some styles that I do find unattractive, but there are also styles I find very attractive. ...This makes me sound like I’m attracted to cars. I will neither confirm nor deny that assessment. :p
What is your favorite musical? >> Phantom of the Opera.
Have you made a lot of huge mistakes? >> Oh, yeah, definitely.
Are you ok? >> I suppose you could say that.
Do you ever feel God's presence? >> Nope.
Do you believe in angels? >> I had an Inworlder when I was younger that I interpreted as angelic. There was also an angel I knew a few years ago, which was a complicated situation I’m not sure I’m equipped to explain right now. I miss Tobias, he wrote me such wonderful things... :’(
What is your favorite magazine? >> I don’t have one.
What color hair did your favorite Barbie doll have? >> ---
Who were you rooting for in the very first season of American Idol? >> ---
Do you believe in miracles? >> I don’t find the concept useful.
Have you ever been to a tea shop? >> I’ve been to Teavana.
If there were a tea shop in your city, would you go to it? >> Sure. I love tea.
Do you still have your Christmas decorations up? >> Nope.
How many pairs of jeggings do you own? >> Zero.
Do you have any memories that are painful? >> Of course.
Do you learn from your mistakes and move on, or do you do the same things over and over again? >> Sometimes the former, sometimes the latter.
Do you make a habit of taking risks and stepping outside of your comfort zone? >> No, I don’t make a habit of it. Then again, my comfort zone is really small. Like, really. So many activities involve me being outside my comfort zone by default, which means I have less mental energy for purposefully choosing to do things that are outside of my comfort zone. I think this kind of thing is more suited for people whose comfort zone is a lot larger than mine -- who don’t regard basic things like “using the phone” or “being in a crowd” as being outside of their comfort zone.
Is your life boring? >> It can be. But frankly, I prefer this to the alternative.
What is your favorite thing to follow on tumblr? >> I don’t know how to answer that.
What are your favorite Pinterest boards? >> I don’t use Pinterest.
Is your Pinterest profile cluttered? >> ---
Do you wish you owned more board games? >> No, I don’t play board games. Sparrow likes them, but we also have no one to play with. We have three board games and at least one of them is still in the packaging.
Do you wish you had visitors more often? >> Not at all. I’m perfectly happy not having other people milling around my apartment.
Do you hate the economy? >> No.
Do you hate our culture? >> No. These are way too vague to be answerable by me in any real capacity.
Do you live in the USA? >> Yes.
What accent do you like best? >> There is no accent I like best. I like most accents just because I love the many different ways people speak.
Is there a guy you wish you hadn't let slip away? >> No.
What are some things you would like to do this summer? >> Just... go somewhere. I would like to be able to go somewhere. That’s really it, the bar is so low these days.
What are some things you love about spring? >> I think I love everything about spring. The warmth, the increased sunshine, the way the air smells when it rains, the explosion of greenery and colour, the feeling of finally being able to breathe, the fact that the air doesn’t immediately suck all the moisture out of my skin...
Are you feeling optimistic today? >> No. Optimistic about what? Isn’t that something you feel about something specific, not just... randomly?
When was the last time you did something that made you feel stupid? >> I don’t remember.
Do you hate social classes and inequality? >> I mean, it’s not great to deal with.
Is they're anything that you're questioning if you're allergic to? >> No.
Do you believe everyone should be treated with respect when you first meet them? >> Sure. I at least try to treat people with basic respect until it becomes clear that they’re 100% not interested in giving the same in return.
Do you hate that nobody cares? >> Nobody cares about what?
What websites shut down that you miss? >> Xanga, certainly.
What were your favorite websites when you were a teenager? >> Xanga, various band websites, Chimerical Publications (an old David Duchovny fansite).
What was the best class you took in high school? >> ---
Are you happy? >> Mildly.
Would you ever enroll in a college class just for fun? >> I would if it were possible to do so. That always sounded like a fun thing to do -- just take a class to get all the lectures and materials, without having to take the tests and stuff.
Do you feel free to be yourself? >> Well, sure. It’d be real fucked up if I felt like I had to be a different person all the time.
Do you stand up for yourself when needed? >> Yes. Sometimes a little more than necessary, but I’m just so used to having to fight for my existence. Or at least feeling that way.

Have you ever hit yourself in the head with a cabinet door? I mean with how clumsy I am it must have already unsurprisingly happened several times.
Are you currently talking to someone that you don’t like? Nah I’m just talking to this survey right now.
Your best friend gets arrested for shoplifting. Are you shocked? I’d be surprised and even panicky that she got arrested, but I might find it funny at first...the idea of Gabie, the most honest person alive, stealing is almost hilarious.
Last time you caught up with an old friend? No clue. This doesn’t count much, but I saw my old classmates from high school on my way to a class last Friday. I never see them around campus and it was a pleasant surprise, one that I needed because that day didn’t start out so well. When it comes to a real catching-up session, I guess it would be last September when Gabie and I made plans with Katreen.
Do you say things just to hear yourself talk? If I had to practice for a speech or report then yes, I have to hear the way I speak.
Does your printer have a USB port on it? We don’t have a printer. I have all my stuff printed at school instead.
Have you ever said you were going to go to bed early but never did? Yep but I don’t do it often. People get so easily caught nowadays because Facebook always displays if you’re online or not lol.
Have you ever seen an accident so horrific that it scarred you for life? I’m used to such scenarios because of all the awful shit they show in horror movies, so it takes a lot before there’s something that I actually cannot stomach. The worst would have to be seeing a car just completely plowing into an electrical post. Up to half the car was shattered and there was blood on the steering wheel’s airbag. Now that was pretty unusual since it happened in my own village.
Do you love to ‘rain on people’s parades’ (figuratively speaking)? No. Isn’t that shitty thing to do?
Does it annoy you when people don’t say ‘brb?’ Yeah but not enough to roll my eyes or even make a deal out of it. It just brings me back to the cringey Yahoo Messenger days which I just want to leave in the past hahahaha.
Does it annoy you when people don’t say bye before they leave? No, especially if the person is an introvert. I’ve had to escape a couple of times myself so the concept isn’t something I’m unfamiliar with.
Ever worn a top that was so tight that you could barely even breathe? Not tops, but I have dresses like that. When I was designing my prom dress I wanted it to look like something Audrey Hepburn would wear, so the end result was a dress that was the tightest around my waist. If you look up Audrey’s wedding dress in the movie Funny Face, it’s exactly what my prom dress looked like except in gold. Wasn’t so easy eating that night LOL.
Would you wear uncomfortable clothes just because they were stylish? Why or why not? Yes. Because I wanted to look nice for myself dude.
Have you ever made fun of someone’s name? Never, mainly because people make fun of my name all the goddamn time and I know how shitty it feels to be embarrassed by our own name.
Do you feel like watching a certain movie right now? If so, which movie would that be? I want to watch Toy Story but am just always too lazy to.
Last time you found a writing utensil on the ground? No clue. Not very often do I see a pen on the ground here.
How much money do you usually get from digging in the sofa cushions? No one ever leaves some in there so.
Have you said sorry and meant it, but denied that you apologized later on? No. Dunno why I’ll ever have to do that though?
Are you the peace destroyer or the peace maker? I hate confrontation and stirring up shit in general, so usually I’m the one who calls for a resolution. Do you truly believe that miracles exist (I do ^_^)? No.
Is apologizing one of the hardest things for you to do? Sometimes. It’s hardest when I know I could still defend myself.
Is revenge your specialty? Not really but being cold is.
What do you think of good descriptive writing? I think it’s a great skill. Not many people can create vivid images with words.
Is there someone you are trying to be friends with all over again? No. Once I’m done with someone I cut them out completely.
Do you often set yourself up for unintentional heartbreaks? Heartbreaks as in disappointments, yes.
Is heartbroken as bad as it sounds or worse than it sounds? Worse than it sounds, at least for me. I don’t know how everyone else is able to manage it until the end...I just feel helpless all the time.
Do you think it is sweet when an elderly woman kisses you on the cheek? I suppose it would be if the woman were actually warm and sweet and kind, but then I don’t know any elderly woman like that so I would find it weird, but not disgusting. I’d be more bothered if it were a man.
Are you kind of uneasy with letting people buy stuff for you? YES. I hate it so much. I tell my girlfriend off all the time when she does because it makes me very uncomfortable. I guess I just got used to the fact that I wasn’t spoiled at all growing up and got accustomed to mostly nothing. I never feel that I deserve it when my friends or their families treat me.
You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Do you agree? Yes, like a healthy throat or an unclogged nose.
Have you ever thought about how you were gonna kill someone? If so, why? What made you so angry? I don’t think so. I’ve thought of revenge, but I’ve never mapped out my plans to actually murder.
Are you good at remaining neutral? Fuck no. Where I live, remaining neutral is the worst you can get.
Would you investigate the paranormal if you had the opportunity? Just out of curiosity, yes.
Do crop circles fascinate you? No. Although they did for like 1.25 seconds after I watched the movie Signs.
Are you familiar with the ‘Emo Kid Song?’ That sounds like an ancient YouTube thing, but nope not familiar.
Does the inside of your ear ever itch? Yes. Means it has to get some cleaning done haha.
Do you respect other people’s opinions? I have to, but if it’s a really stupid one I can’t.
If you don’t like someone’s opinion, do you make it known to them? No, unless it’s a really stupid one like I said. There are just really some dumb opinions out there that need calling out and my blunt ass is not here for them. If they lay it out with facts and in a respectable way, we can agree to disagree.
If you had to treat everyone the same, would that be hard? Yes. Unless everyone had to do the same thing then I think it would be less hard.
Ever met a baseball player? If so, did you get his autograph? My girlfriend played softball in high school teehee. Jk, no I haven’t.
Do you like to scare away the sales people? I’m the one who gets scared by them, that’s why I hate going to stores.
Have you joined a site just because your friend joined? That’s what happened to Moshi Monsters eight years ago, definitely.
Would you find being a secretary boring? No, I really enjoy working in internal affairs :(
Do you like to start conversations by saying something random? I’m getting better at starting conversations and enjoying, but I never start it that way. I usually start off with a question or a ‘how are you.’
Have you ever had so much wax build up in your ear that you couldn’t hear? Yikes no.
Is your computer mouse an optical one? I have a trackpad, not a mouse.
Have you tried to stay in contact with someone, but they ignored you? No, it’s more of we both got busy with our respective lives.
Would you rather be a psychic or a mind reader? What did you choose and why? Psychic, but just because there’s always the possibility of getting your feelings hurt if you’re able to read minds haha. If psychics existed, it’d be a relief knowing all about my future, when I’ll die, how my life would be like, etc. But they are all bullshit, so.
Do you remember saying ‘I hate you’ to someone when you were a kid? My grandmother taught me very early on that it was a strong word so I avoided using it for the most part, except when fighting with my siblings as kids.
When was the last time you had a meaningful conversation with someone? Tuesday, with Gab. We almost forgot we had to study because of how deep we got into the conversation.
Would you be afraid to sleep in your backyard? Not if I had a tent and was perfectly cozy in it. Sleeping on the ground would just be icky and cold.
Does the idea of camping just scare you for some reason? It doesn’t necessarily scare me, it just seems pretty exhausting. I like my luxuries. < This!!! It takes so much planning that the preparations alone would tire me out, and then I’d be too stressed on the day itself making sure everything goes as planned and I didn’t forget any equipment.
Have you ever seen a coyote in real life? No.
Does your display picture on messenger represent your mood? No, it’s just me smiling for a photoshoot :/
Have you ever heard footsteps on your roof in the middle of the night? We have a rooftop, and I’ve heard my dog digging on the ground before.
Is there a person you love more than life itself? Yes.
Do you have a possession (that isn’t a person) that you protect constantly? Well right now it’s gonna have to be my Paramore tickets. I lose stuff all the time so this one makes me so anxious because the concert isn’t going to be until February.
Do you have anything locked up in a vault? Nope. My parents only use vaults when staying in hotels...
Do you have a hard time controlling your temper? Or do you just not have a bad temper? Much better with it than before, but still needs some work.
If you had to choose one way to die, which would it be? In my sleep. <
Would you rather die saving someone or fighting for your own life? I can’t imagine trying to save my own life. I’d much rather do it for someone else, and I wouldn’t even think about it if it were for a loved one.
Have you ever gone into a public bathroom just to call someone? Nope.
If you could find the cure for any disease, which disease would it be? Cancer.

There are too many interesting things in the concert ask that I wanna answer so I’m doing them all. :^D
How many concerts have you been to? 28 so far.
Have you been to any festivals? Not any proper ones. I guess Paganfest was technically a festival, and same with Heavy Metal Heart, but they were small and indoors so idk.
Which artist/band have you seen the most live? Korpiklaani.
First concert you went to? My Chemical Romance.
Last concert you went to? Heavy Metal Heart 11 Day 2 (Winterthroned, Brymir, and Korpiklaani)
What is your next concert? Ensiferum.
Which artists/bands would you love to see live? Bands I wanna see again: Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Ensiferum, Korpiklaani (always), ALESTORM, BILLY TALENT, Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Arkona. Bands/Musicians I wanna see, period: AC/DC, Lady Gaga, Blackpink, Dalriada, Marina and the Diamonds, Nicki Minaj, The Pretty Reckless, WARMEN, That Poppy. And as I’ve said, I would have loved to see Michael Jackson, 2NE1, My Chemical Romance, Norther with Petri, Enska with Jari, and Tokio Hotel in the Scream or Humanoid era. Actually even Zimmer 483 era woulda been awesome.
The farthest you’ve traveled to go to a concert? Ehh... idk whether Guelph to Toronto or my current home town to Helsinki is a longer trip. The former took longer, but that could be coz of the bus route. I’m too lazy to look it up. Point is, I haven’t traveled very far at all for a concert.
Best opening act you’ve seen? Winterthroned wasn’t technically an opening act but they’re the only ones who come to mind. Eluveitie was pretty good, I guess. I liked them better live than I do otherwise (they opened for Bodom the first time I saw them).
Worst opening act you’ve seen? Whatever bands opened for Billy Talent the first time I saw them. I’ve never been a screamo fan, my dudes, and those headache-enducers did not help that fact.
Have you met any bands/artists at a concert? Not AT the concert, but afterwards, I’ve met all of Korpiklaani, Chris from Alestorm, Olli and Tuomas from Turisas, Masha and Vladimir from Arkona, and, if we’re counting the listening party, Teemu and Jukka from Wintersun.
What’s one thing you have to bring to a concert? Money to buy merch.
What’s the most you’ve paid for a ticket? $78 (Canadian) for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. (Side note: I looked through my tickets for this question and I’m dying @ the prices I’ve paid for shows there holy fuck metal bands have spoiled me..........)
Best concert you’ve been to? Most concerts I’ve been to have been AWESOME, but my first show will always stand out because it was the first, and it was my favourite band, and it was at the height of my love for them, and I still refer to it as a spiritual experience coz, well, that’s what it felt like. I’ve never felt such a connection to a crowd since, I’ve never had music touch my heart that way since, I’ve never felt that passion and whirlwind of emotion and sheer awe since.
Worst concert you’ve been to? Honestly, probably the first time I saw Children of Bodom. Not because the band or set-up was bad or anything, but because I got pulled down into the pit, grabbed by assorted people, a drunk man put practically all his weight on me and tried to kiss me??? and I had to punch him to get away, I got separated from the people I was with, and I ended up having to spend the whole show near the back, not even able to see the band. And this is literally all I remember from the show!! What songs did they play? What antics did they get up to? HELL IF I KNOW!!
Have you been in a social media post an artist posted after a show? YEAH, since moving back to Finland and making sure to be in the front as often as possible I’ve found myself in loads of after-show pics on Facebook. :D Also, when I saw Ensiferum and Finntroll in Canada, I was mentioned in a Finnish newspaper in Toronto coz they could see my Finnish flag. B) Not social media, but still cool.
Funniest concert memory? The singer of Winterthroned asked if we wanted to hear a joke and we were like YEAH and he was like it’s a bad one and I yelled EVEN BETTER and he applauded me and told the joke: “What does it say at the bottom of a Swedish swimming pool? ... Smoking Prohibited.” ... which I found hilarious for some reason. And the whole thing was so random I was just like lolwat. There are probably funnier things I’ve seen but this is so recent it’s the first thing that came to mind.
Do you buy your tickets as soon as they go on sale, after, or the day of? As soon as possible if it’s a band I love, maybe later if I’m not sure whether I want to/can go, but I never the day of, I don’t wanna risk it being sold out.
Have you ever been noticed by an artist at a concert? Hahaa, yeah. The Finnish flag got me noticed at the Ensiferum and Finntroll show by almost everyone in both bands. I was also front-and-center the first time I saw Korpiklaani at a tiny club in Toronto, so it was kinda hard not to get noticed. I also kinda tugged on Jonne’s hair to get his attention, whoops. I apologized after the show, though. :^D And at Paganfest I was also front-and-center and when Alestorm was setting up I got a fist-bump from Chris!
Have you met any internet friends at a concert? Not yet... :0c
Which concert that you’ve been to has had the best stage setup/production? Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s set-up was pretty boss. MCR’s was definitely impressive when they were touring for the Black Parade, too. I don’t usually pay that much attention to that, since it’s rarely a big deal at the shows I go to. :P
Have you ever caught a guitar pick, drumstick, got a setlist, etc.? I got Finntroll’s setlist when I saw them, and I’ve got picks from Korpiklaani, My Chemical Romance, and Wintersun. Also, when I saw Billy Talent in Finland, I CAUGHT AARON’S DRUMSTICK, but so did the 3 girls to my left, and since they were all there together, they won the tug-of-war. :(
Favorite concert venue? The Opera House in Toronto became a fast fave, and in Helsinki it’s Nosturi, followed by Virgin Oil Co., followed by The Circus.
Least favorite concert venue? The Sound Academy in Toronto annoys me for some reason. Also don’t really like Kaapelitehdas in Helsinki, but I’ve only been there once. I think it’s coz they’re both kinda inconveniently situated, and something about the layout, especially Kaapelitehdas.
Which do you prefer: indoor or outdoor concerts? Indoor.
Which do you prefer: clubs, theaters, arenas, or stadiums? Clubs.
Have you ever missed school or work to go to a concert? LMAO YES. Or, well, when I worked, I’d make sure to book that day or weekend off well in advance, but school? Lol, I was an excellent student, I can miss a day or an afternoon no problem.
Have you ever been surprised with tickets from someone? My mom got me a Billy Talent ticket for my 17th(?) birthday, but other than that, nope, I’m usually the one surprising others with tickets.
Who do you enjoy going to concerts with? Ehh, I’m used to going to concerts alone, so it kinda throws me off when I’ve gone with someone. It’s not bad, it’s just weird. Different. I haven’t gone to shows with anyone one person enough to answer this.
General admission or seated concerts? General admission.
Have you been to multiple dates for one tour? No. :(
Have you been to concerts 2 or more days in a row? No. :(
Have you ever received free tickets from a contest or an artist’s crew? Nope.
Have you been front row and/or back row for a concert? I always strive to be at the front, though sometimes (first time seeing Bodom, last time seeing MCR, only time seeing Stam1na) I started out in the front and either got forced to the back or had to shove my way there lest I have a panic attack and die or something.
Have you ever gotten sick, bruised, or broken a bone after a concert? I’ve probably caught a cold from waiting outside in below-zero temperatures wearing jeans, a tshirt, and a hoodie (ain’t nobody got time for coat check). And of course I’ve found mystery bruises. No broken bones, though.
Have you ever had surprise guests at a concert you attended? Jon Gallant from Billy Talent appeared on stage during the opening band’s set the last time I saw MCR. That was awesome. I knew the bands were friends, but I never saw that coming. :D
Did you start listening to an opening act after you saw them in concert? I really liked what little I heard of Valkeat, who opened for Wintersun. I also liked Winterthroned, though as I said, they weren’t technically an opening act. Both are on my “listen to more of” list.
What’s the latest you’ve got home from a concert? Whenever I went to concerts in Toronto, I’d have to crash at my dad’s place in Richmond Hill and then get home a.s.a.p. the next day if I had school or work, so... latest getting to my dad’s was probably 6:30 to 7:00 in the morning, and if we’re counting actually getting home then like... 11:00 to noon the next day? Haha.
When is the earliest you’ve arrived to a venue for a concert? 8 hours before doors.
Have you seen your favorite artist in concert? Yep, but I’d love to see them more!! Alas, I cannot, as they have broken up.
Longest you’ve waited in line for a concert? 8 hours. In rain and snow. Without a jacket or gloves. #YOLO
Have you ever attended a concert alone? Almost exclusively.
What’s the best part of a concert in your opinion?
Have you ever heard/seen an artist soundcheck before their show? Nope.
What’s the biggest venue you’ve been to a concert at? The Air Canada Center or the Molson Amphitheater. Not sure which one’s bigger.
What’s the smallest venue you’ve been to a concert at? Mod Club, the place in Toronto where I first saw Korpiklaani.
Have you ever had side stage seats? No.
Which venue have you been to the most concerts at? Nosturi, maybe?
Do you post a lot about a concert you’ve attended on social media or very little? I post pictures and might tell a story or two. :^D
Has a concert or tour you were planning on going to got cancelled? No.
Have you seen a band in concert before a member left the band / they broke up? My Chemical Romance for BOTH -- I saw them before Bob Bryar left and after, and obvs before they broke up altogether. Saw C.o.B twice before the Roope debacle, too. And I’m not sure about this, but is Aaron not touring with Billy Talent anymore? Oh, and I’ve seen Ensiferum before Emmi left. Well, other than that I’m not sure about line-up changes and whatnot.
Favorite song you’ve heard live? Probably “Famous Last Words” and “It’s Not a Fashion Statement, It’s a Fucking Deathwish” by MCR.
Have you ever seen an artist/band play an album in full? My Chemical Romance played The Black Parade in full and came back and did a bunch of songs from the previous two albums.
Which artist would you refuse to see in concert? Uh. Anyone I don’t like?? Idk, there are some artists where I probably wouldn’t buy a ticket myself, but if someone wanted to take me, I’d go. It’s hard to think of specific bands/artists I would refuse to see. You couldn’t pay me enough to go to, like, a grindcore show or some screamo shit or techno/DM/whatever you call that nonsense my brother listens to. Oh, and obviously NSBM is completely out of the question.
What’s the craziest thing a fan has done at a concert you’ve been to? Crowd-surfing/stage-diving. I remember at Paganfest while Turisas was on security barely had to do anything, Warlord had that shit under control, he’d just toss bitches back into the crowd.
Which venue(s) would you love to go to for a concert? My favourites...? There aren’t really any special venues I’m dying to see, lmao.
Have you ever been to a concert at a venue that no longer exists? Not that I know of.
Have you ever lost something/got something stolen at a concert? I lost my bus ticket home at an MCR show which fucking sucked coz I was super low on money to begin with and I had to buy a new one using my Finland Fund. >.>
Have people made fun of you or laughed because of how you were acting at a concert? Ehh, one time I covered my nose coz someone behind me was smoking weed and the smell makes me nauseous and I kinda didn’t wanna throw up or pass out, and my boyfriend at the time got all huffy and annoyed and was like “grow up” and I said “you grow up” and rushed off and people laughed a bit, but more like in a “daaamn u fucked up” way imo.
Have you ever been kicked out of a concert? Nope.
Has an artist thrown or spit water on you? Nope.
Have you ever seen a security guard dance to a song at a concert? No.
Have you seen any acts you don’t like at a concert? Huntress and Ex Deo at Paganfest. -_-
Have you ever passed out or thrown up at a concert? No, thank the gods.
Have you seen any artists in concerts that you don’t like anymore? Nope!

On surround sound:
I had a topic that I probably could have focused on for this post today, but instead I wanted to draw attention to several things that happened and are happening around the world today and maybe more specifically in the United States. Like I mentioned in the last post there were nine rallies set for this weekend that were supposed to be focused on “free speech” for the alt-right, neo-nazis, white nationalists, etc. One of which was going to be held in Boston. There was a lot of backlash after the mayor agreed to allow a permit for them to rally in the first place. Many people didn’t know what was going to happen, but I’m sure many, like myself, expected the worst. Boston has been a historically racist city for centuries. Literally, centuries. Which, slightly off topic, I do find it interesting that so many of the most popular “Union” cities like New York, Philadelphia, Boston have earned reputations for intensely struggling with racism. Ironic that the states in the civil war that were a part of the union, the side against slavery, would struggle hundreds of years down the line with similar and debatably worse problems of oppression. Again, none of those three cities, has been more the negative spotlight for being racist than Boston. Like I also mentioned yesterday, a lot of people thought that it would be best not to show up because it could be seen as adding more fuel to the fire and giving the negativity more energy. I’m happy to say that people did come and they came in unbelievable numbers. In fact, the numbers were so high that the “free speech” rally had to stop. Strength in numbers, to say the least. I’m hoping this will set the standard for the following rallies. There is no place for hate speech and violence and droves of counter protesters is certainly a great way to prevent something terrible from happening. Then again, I had a thought. Essentially, if we shut up the white nationalists, neo-nazis, anti-semites, then we are muting them completely. That’s what we want, right? People shouldn’t be allowed to threaten others and say such terrible things. You would assume that if it continued to happen that this side might get discouraged enough to quiet, pack up, and hide. Over time the wounds of hate would heal and then everyone lives happily ever after. What it doesn’t solve is the existence of these ideals and the existence of these people, and their ability to mobilize. Ideas are not so easy to eliminate. Idealists on the counter-protesting side or the side of peace and equality for all would hope for a conversation to discuss why each side feels the way they do and hopefully the opportunity to come to an agreement or understanding that would benefit both sides. I’ll be honest, I have no desire to hear anyone say that we should rid the world of minorities, jews, etc. That’s the type of stuff to make me clench my fists and see red. I just wonder sometimes about the existence and contagiousness of ideas, in this case, for the worse. Influential figures, mothers and fathers, teachers, group leaders that are effective in their teachings can convince people to believe anything. In the South, scratch that, in our nation there are leaders that have been fundamentally preaching the wrong ideas and kids at a young age are susceptible to believe whatever their leaders tell them. You see where I’m going with this. I want the counter protesters to shut the shit down. Suppress the hate. I’m just not sure it’s getting things done in the long term, but like I said yesterday…how long can we wait?
My last thought for now on this matter is that I hope the counter protesters continue to show their strength, positivity, and fight to resist, and rebel against the president and his idealistic descendants. Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, Mountain View (?), New York, Pittsburgh, Seattle, D.C., my thoughts will be with you. Stay strong.

In New York, there was a rally in Brooklyn today for Colin Kaepernick with NYPD cops and a special guest, Frank Serpico. Serpico, of course, is the cop that Al Pacino popularized in a movie of the same name. During his time as a policeman Serpico struggled, but ultimately was successful in exposing the corruption in the NYPD police force. All of the cops were in agreement that the treatment Kaepernick has received since kneeling for the national anthem and speaking out against social issues, has been unjust and wrong. In a sign of solidarity they all wore “I stand with Kap” t-shirts and raised their fists at the end of their discussions. Serpico would later say, “I am here to support anyone who has the courage to stand up against injustice and oppression anywhere in this country and the world.” He is 81 years old now. I had forgotten that “Serpico” was a true story and I’m amazed that he is still out on the vanguard speaking his opinions. I wonder what his relationship with the NYPD is. Spoiled? Mending? I was having a discussion today about the word “whistleblower” and the word “snitch” and I wondered why I had a negative association with both of the words, not just “snitch.” What was the programming that made me think this way? Why does the act of exposing something illegal, illicit, and harmful garner a negative response? Why do so many people side with the “victim” in that situation instead of the “informer”?
…
I was walking towards the 1 train subway station today and was coming down the steps. I see three cops behind a table looking like they were ready to do some random inspection. I got a couple of steps from the bottom and they requested to see my backpack. I was pretty “meh” about the situation, but wasn’t confrontational, so I knew there wouldn’t be a problem. Correction: I didn’t think there would be a problem. While one dude is doing the strip thing on my backpack and checking the sample to see if would return any foreign substances, the officer in the middle was reading the words on my shirt. It was a shirt I had bought a year or so before with YG, Kamiayah, and Sad Boy in the car posing for “The Fuck Donald Trump Tour.” I see the officer reading slowly, “The-Fuck-Donald-Trump Tour” and he proceeded to chuckle and laugh a little bit. I’m over here thinking he vibes with it and agrees. Another officer hands me my bad and the one slow-reader says to me, “The best president we’ve had in a while” and chuckles again. I took a second to register what he said and then sarcastically gave him a thumbs up sign, hot in my head, and wanting to do so much more than be sarcastic.
And they wonder why…
…
I posted today on several Facebook forums because I was on the lookout for some new temporary places to live. In the past I had posted on these same forums and got some pretty good results, a fair amount of messages, and leads to get myself situated. I think it’s because I have no problem being myself on these posts. I’m sarcastic, stupid, dorky, and I make admirable attempts to be funny. Several of these forums are under the tag name “Gypsy Housing,” which in the past has gotten a lot of backlash because “gypsy” is a derogatory term. I was hoping to find a place for 750-900, which narrowed down my options immensely, but it’s what I could afford. Just a little context. So, I started off my post today with,
“Dear gypsies, minorities, allies, semites, alt-leftists, internationals, artists, fans of r&b, and other people I'd love to hang out with,
I thought it was a pretty all encompassing way to bring people in. I was naive in my thinking. After letting the posts breathe for some time and getting a couple responses I received one response that said,
“It's very weird and insulting to list minorities then offer to pay $800 for a fucking room. People like you are the reason our rent is so damn high now.”
I was a little shocked. My first response was to be defensive and then I wondered whether I should have been more sensitive before putting that first line there. However, with hindsight being 20/20, when you read that did you cringe or did you see nothing wrong? I like to know these things because I don’t want to make the same mistake in the future even though the defensive side of me wonders whether the woman overreacted. As a white male, I don’t want to play the “people are way too sensitive and need to chill out” card because, like I said, I’m a white male. I’m a part of the least oppressed people in the world.
Just wondering, really.
…
You can see the themes, though. Race. Race. Race. These are sensitive times we are living in and there is always a lot to talk about. No shortage of topics, I’ll tell you that.
…
Peace and love to all.
