Detective Conan - First Concept Note

(Full under cut)

Note: Texts in indented paragraphs are Aoyama Gosho's quotes/comments. The "Initial designs" parts are probably editor's comments I'm not sure. I'm not good at translating so feel free to correct or throw rocks at me if I get anything wrong.

Note 2: These are not scans. They're just pictures I took with my phone. The sketch itself is already messy tho (probably giving you the feel that you are viewing the raw sketch itself). I only edit it a bit so it doesn't look too dark or yellow compared to how it look irl.

Kudo Shinichi / Edogawa Conan

His bangs ended up being a centre parting. (lol)

Initial design: Shinichi's hairstyle was mostly finished. The balls are to indicate his soccer skill. Conan's glasses style was also decided. The handwriting texts are to indicate the character's tone.

Mori Ran

She haven't got the horn yet. (lol)

Initial design: Go to the next page to read the author's comment about Kogoro to know more about characters' surname (lol). This design really give the Karate Champion vibe. And here she supposed to call Kogoro "papa"?

Mori Kogoro

His surname was supposed to be Hattori. Later, it becomes Heiji's name. (lol)

Initial design: Slicked back hair and parted pencil mustache look also mostly finished. It giving the classic vibe of a sharp detective instead of the comedic feel. His hair stand up like a thorn when he just woke up? Not mentioning the surname, the name Kogoro probably wasn't decided back then either?

Agasa Hiroshi

His surname supposed to be Mori you know! I probably wanted to use this design for Ran's grandpa. (lol)

Initial design: The design are well rounded. From his smiling face to his "serious" face are all perfect. Not sure if he's a genius inventor, but the great thing about this design is it also give off the vibe of a mad scientist.

Gin

I literally sketch these in just 3 minutes (lol)! Back then, I haven't even give him a name yet.

Initial design: Black hat and long black coat. Along with the cold stare of a cold-blooded murderer. This mysterious and scary figure is definitely Gin!

Toyama Kazuha

The hair is still tidy! The brown is a little thick though. (lol)

Initial design: Her first appearance was "The Naniwa Serial Murder Case" from volume 19! There is a lot of great dialogue scattered around in that case.

Detective Conan: The Time-Bombed Skyscraper

This is the concept art for the movie "The Time-Bombed Skyscraper"! I already draw the scene "I might never get to say it again" (lol)

Illustration: This sketch were drawn in the meeting for the first movie - "Detective Conan: The Time-Bombed Skyscraper" first aired in 1997. The author Aoyama has put in the story he had always wanted to write from a long time ago! Beside, the author himself has take in the responsibility for the key frames of these scenes using these concept arts!!

May I have a match up please? Thanks! I'm 165 cm tall and have brown curly hair and brown eyes. I am quiet and shy around people, I want to talk to them and make friends but I don't know how to start conversation or what to talk about. Once you get to know me better I am friendly, kind and will laugh most of the time. I'm not the type of girl who likes to go out at night, I prefer staying at home and drawing, listening to music( usually rock or nightcore) or playing with my lazy cat. (1/2)

My ideal partner is someone who will love me for who I am. I want him to be there when I need him. I will do my best to make him happy and will be there to listen to him when he has problems. I will probably overthink things but will find best solution at the end. I am also a daydreamer and have my little button collection. Let’s face it, he totally ignored that fact that you didn't talk a lot and just started to talk to you non-stop. Sometimes he approached you to make a comment about the most random stuff, like that first year that really called him senpai. In the end he challenged himself to make you laugh at least once a day because he ADORED your smile.

After some pep-talk from the third years (Noya had been way too over-energetic during practice lately) he felt prepared enough to confess to you. Well, you could tell that something was off days before because he jumped around even more than usual. He was sooooo afraid of hearing your reply as he didn't want to destroy the relationship he already had with you. But he nearly fainted when you responded positively. 

Very soon he taught you one lesson: Never, I repeat, never let him close to your button collection. You had left the room for less than five minutes and found him sitting on your floor while he tried to pick up all the buttons again. The poor guy had been so overly excited to learn more about your hobbies that he had dropped everything. It took quite some time to find all of them again.

He had some struggles to understand why you preferred to stay at home instead of going on an adventure outside. By the time he got used to it and now totally enjoys chilling in your room with you. Sometimes you have your own dance parties with him by playing your favourite music on full volume when you are home alone. Definitely one of your favourite kind of dates!

As a compromise you promised to go on a more active date once a month. Therefore every third Saturday in a month is reserved for Noya’s ideas - You went to an amusement park, played laser tag, played volleyball in a park and several more things. His spontaneous nature helps you to stop overthinking decisions a little, while your overthinking avoids small catastrophes every once in a while.

The first time meeting your twin sister had an unexpected effect on him. Noya went silent, as in completely silent. Without saying a word he starred at the two of you with big eyes for a minute. You really thought that you broke him. Then he started screaming things like “THERE ARE TWO OF YOU?!”, “DID YOU CLONE YOURSELF?!”, “WHICH ONE OF YOU IS MINE?!” and “DID I DIE AND ASCEND TO HEAVEN?!”. The ball of energy completely lost it while you couldn't stop laughing.

Watching you draw something or play with your cat is the most relaxing thing on earth for him. Multiple times he fell asleep because he calmed down so much. But he is so excited whenever you have finished a drawing of yours! He would love to grab it and show it to everyone as he thinks that you are so overly talented - Like your personal cheerleader, which makes you feel extremely loved!

So I'm reading the bnha manga and I've reached where they're moving into the dorms and I'm so confused because did Bakugo just... mug Kaminari? So that he had money to make Kiri feel better? Or am I missing something? What happened behind the bush?

It was his own money! I mean, of course it was, it’s something he’s doing specifically to lift Kirishima’s mood, why would Kirishima be happy to see Kaminari being stolen from (and why would Bakugou steal even, it’s Bakugou we’re talking about, have more faith in his respect for the law anon haha) - somehow that scene has been confusing a lot of readers tho, enough that Horikoshi had to add a line in the volume version of the chapter in which Bakugou straight out says the money is his

I dunno what is it exactly that Bakugou did behind the bush to make Kaminari short circuit, but the point of it was to lift the general mood of the class making them laugh and (probably) to distract them from his giving the money to Kirishima to begin with, like, that was awkward enough without the whole class watching them lbr.

This probably makes more sense once you consider the fact that Bakugou feels responsible for the general (specifically Kirishima’s) low mood, actually. The money probably was also his very awkward way of saying thank you, so, again, why would he even use stolen money for it, that just makes no sense now does it

That’s what most people seem to like to think, and if that’s how you wanna see it then go for it! But for one, it’s not canon since it hasn’t been stated anywhere that Bakugou got the info from Kaminari, I’m not even 100% sure the translation in which he mentions he got the info from someone was correct since only one version of the translation has that line in it. There’s also how there’s no logical reason why Kaminari should know about the goggles to begin with, he didn’t even know Kirishima and the rest had gone to rescue Bakugou till Aizawa mentioned it. And to me this also makes little to no sense because it implies that Bakugou knew about the goggles already, but waited till he could get his hands on Kaminari to find out about how much money was spent on them? To be completely honest to me it makes more sense if he either heard about it from Deku/anyone in the rescue team (since they knew both about the goggles and how much they cost) or if he saw them in Kirishima’s hand and looked it up for himself. It’s just a supposition, though

Anyway, yeah if you want to think of it that way go for it! ‘s not canon, tho

This is honest to god one of the thoughts that keep me up at night. Considering how black that boy’s hair is, the dye he uses HAS to be semi-permanent pigment, permanent dye just doesn’t turn out that brilliant - pigment is gonna turn the water red so fast and fade even faster so the boy must be using it to fix the color more or less any shower he takes, how the hell has no one noticed he’s dyed yet???

This is actually what brought me to consider the possibility of dye jobs being done by people why color-altering quirks, actually. I’ve been entertaining the idea of one of Kiri’s parents having that sort of quirk, can you imagine? I’m still not doing anything with it because I like the black roots, tho haha
