hiiii 🖤 alright you guys, i’m just gonna go ahead and say that i haven’t been in this fandom for long… like at all (five months give or take… she’s just a baby!) so i don’t have many works yet, but @jolapeno was kind enough to tag me in this amazing idea of hers, so i had to jump on it! it’s hard for me to compliment myself, and the imposter syndrome do be kicking my ass when i see/read all the beautiful fics that get written and posted (for free, mind you) on the daily—but i will say i haven’t had this much fun in fandom in so long, so for that, i thank all of you for making my experience so nice 🖤 on top of participating in this self lovin’ tootathon, i have also just hit a follower milestone that genuinely brings tears to my eyes! who would have thought that me thirsting over my favorite fictional man would bring so many readers, friends, and overall cool people my way? not me, that’s for sure! i’ve definitely grown as a writer in the small time that i’ve been here and have completely fallen in love with this hobby again, all thanks to the support from each and every single one of you. i appreciate you guys more than you know 🖤 (oh brother, she’s crying again. she being me) anywho, enough yapping, here’s a few of my faves from this year (these past 5 months) and why i love ‘em so much

i told sunset about you - first things first this probably doesn't even belong on this list because it is just on an entirely different level. it's a coming of age drama with incredible writing amazing actors and gorgeous cinematography. and I actually feel bad for not having watched it sooner but it was just so gut destroying to me personally so yeah highly highlyyyy recommend

not me - actually the first thai bl I ever saw and boy did it change the entire game for me. one of my ultimate faves. gun atthaphan is one of my fav actors and this is probably my favorite performance of his. action thriller romance. social commentary. twins. first kanaphan breakout role. putting each other in comas as a love language. it's great

bad buddy - there's a reason it's so popular ok it's that good. funny lighthearted but still the occasional punch in the gut. great performances. romance peaked. forced rivals secret lovers. whoever falls in love first loses. milklove debut. just trust me

my school president - soooo cute <3 i'm a sucker for geminifourth and they really shined in this one. funnyyy cute sweet romantic. mark pakin is there. i also really liked the boys' relationships with their parents. very pleasant. nothing too serious.

the eclipse - whew. damn where do i start. um firstkhao excellence. acting their asses out there without even a fucking boom mic to catch their sobs. um invented romance. you can be weak....at least with me. The Curse™. all-boys school mystery. gay repression. neo trai you will always be famous. truly enjoyed this one mostly for the romance but the plot was very interesting as well.

until we meet again - legally i have to rec this one. doomed lovers meet a tragic end but find each other again after being reincarnated. they have the chance to finally be happy together if they can beat the ghosts of their former lives. best bl of 2019. pharm the hydrogen bomb of bl protagonists. fluke natouch i love youuu. earth katsamonnat the ICON. i really just love this one

moonlight chicken is also very good. some other shows that i also enjoyed are triage (very cool plot), theory of love (offgun my beloveds), he's coming to me (boy x ghost also chimon <3 is there), and manner of death (i vaguely remember liking this one). if you want to have a laugh/like torturing yourself like i do i have an entire different list but pit babe is a show. that exists. and was fun to watch.

Ace

Ace is a jerk, yes, but he does show moments of kindness that are reserved only for his gang. He genuinely does care about them as they're the only family he's ever had. These moments only happen when they're alone, though, and that's because...

He's insistent on them keeping up the appearance of menacing troublemakers. That's what has gotten them by for so long, and he doesn't want anyone exploiting a weakness (especially after Aspirations)

On a brighter note, Ace thinks he knows all there is to flirting until he actually does it. In his head he's a suave smooth-talker, but in reality he comes off as an awkward dork at best (but in an endearing way, so it still kind of works lol)

He got into a lot of fights as a kid. It started out as self defense from bullies, then turned into him deliberately picking fights to discourage others from targeting him. Hurt them before they can hurt you and whatnot

Big Billy

He actually looked pretty normal as a baby, aside from his one eye and green skin. He began having growth spurts a few years later, and getting a lot stronger

As a child he had a habit of snacking in his sleep, as a result of the growth spurts he was going through. This is not good when your friends are trying to maintain a food supply. Luckily he has since curbed this habit, though it still happens every once in a while

Billy doesn't take well to being abandoned. He gets nervous when left alone or if someone he likes leaves without him, and gets visibly upset if they don't come back.

Of the gang, he's the most open about his issues, but because he has such a childlike mind, it can be difficult to articulate his feelings

Grubber

Like Billy, he looked like a normal baby despite the green skin. The grotesque appearance that we're familiar with didn't start developing until a few years later

He never went to school because his parents were embarrassed about him, but he still managed to teach himself how to read and play several different instruments

He's naturally curious and likes to explore and experiment. He's usually the first to find a new place or object of interest

Grubber dresses in rags because good clothes are hard to come by without stealing, so he lets his friends have whatever they find. He's very insistent about it

Lil Arturo

Being practically raised by Ace, Arturo picked up a few habits from him. He puts the most effort into his appearance after Ace, and developed a more pragmatic demeanor, taking advantage of his small size to lower the guard of the gang's victims (Buttercrush and Bought and Scold being notable examples)

Despite this, he's actually pretty chill when they're just hanging out. He's really only malicious to those outside his gang, but it does rank him as second meanest

Arturo is a known prankster. As a child he was always teaming up with Grubber to mess with the others, which marked him as the annoying little brother. He clearly hasn't lost his touch, since he did win the pranking contest in that one comic :)

Random headcanon, but Arturo has at least a passing interest in history. My only evidence for this is in Buttercrush as he was the one who specified it was a Mesopotamian vase, and the way he said it seemed like he wasn't just reading off the label, like he knew exactly what it was

Snake

It's obvious that Snake looks up to Ace a lot and will do anything to impress him. I headcanon that he went as far as adopting Ace's bad boy demeanor growing up. Unlike Arturo, this was a conscious choice rather than influence, especially once Ace started praising him for it

On his own he's actually pretty quiet and nicer than most of the other members. He's also a smartass who likes to crack jokes, but since this get suppressed by Ace, it's only ever seen when he's left to his own devices

He's surprisingly self-sufficient and resourceful when the need arises. There were a lot of times as a kid where he had to take care of himself. Snake can manage on his own but doesn't like to be by himself for long periods of time. It makes him anxious, but he won't admit it

As a result he's the most knowledgeable in first aid. He's the one who patches up the gang if their injuries are bad enough

He also knows how to drive and operate heavy machinery (witnessed in Buttercrush and one or two comics). When he's bored, he'll find a vehicle in the dump to fiddle around with. Boy definitely knows how to hot-wire a car

hiii sana<3 hmm ok well idk about saddest but here is my sad dean thought of the day that i've been twirling around in mind since seeing kath @caskarass's very hilarious post abt sam and cas fighting over cas bringing up sam's embarrassing childhood prayers. so like, dean's there and he's watching all of this go down and at first he's doubled over laughing his ass off because he's always up for embarrassing his little bro and having CAS tease sammy too is just soo !! yeah that's his bestie, they're all family and cas gets a pass to tease the heck out of sam! but then. after they've all settled down again and they've all returned to their research or whatever they were doing before this, dean just sits there thinking about what cas said, that he and the other angels all heard sam's silly prayers. which means…which means they heard /dean's/ too. because yes, as a child, especially when he was very young, in those first few years after the fire, he prayed. he held on to the words his mom always used to tell him, "angels are watching over you." he was still young, still wanted to believe that good things could happen, that someone would come and save him, make everything better, help his dad stop being so sad and angry. hold sammy when he cries. bring his mom back. so little dean started praying sometimes. pastor jim taught them a few prayers like the hail mary and our father. but he also told them they could ask god for help too. so, sometimes, after a bad night or when he was sad or scared, he'd pray. but not to god, no, he'd pray specifically to the angels his mom said were watching over him. and he'd ask them to help him and sammy. he'd ask them for food or money. he'd ask them to make his dad happy. he'd ask them come and take him away and bring him to his mama in heaven. (more under the cut because i’m evil)

so dean thinks about all those little prayers, and realizes the angels all heard him. and did nothing. he's not mad at cas, doesn't blame him or anything because cas didn't even know him then, and even if cas wanted to intervene he knows the other angels wouldn't have let him. but it just hits him hard, and he slips away to his room and just lays there, his chest clenching painfully as it hits him again that his whole life really was just entertainment for an uncaring god and he was purposely made to suffer again and again for chuck's ~narrative~

he curls into himself and just remembers laying like this as a small child on motel room beds, silently pleading with the angels to please please come please please save him. and while no angels came then, one seeks him out now. cas feels his longing, his distress and goes looking for him, knocks softly on his door, asks, "Dean?"

And dean sits up, murmurs to come in, makes space for cas to sit beside him. Cas asks, "What's wrong?" and dean's instinct is to brush him off, say "Nothing. I'm fine." and move on. But. But this is Cas. His best friend. The love of his life. Dean /likes/ talking to Cas. Even when the stuff they talk about is bad or uncomfortable, he still finds he wants to talk to him about these things. So he tells him about the prayers he already knows Cas has heard. And Cas ends up holding him and telling him he wishes he could have done something then, wishes he could go back and protect dean's younger self. Dean cries a little, face burrowed against Cas's chest, overwhelmed by Cas's love and care. And he still mourns the suffering he went through as a kid, and he's still pissed as fuck at Chuck. But he's glad to be where he is now, to have this angel, to have someone who loves him as deeply and unconditionally as Cas does. It's something he never thought he'd have, something he never even dared pray for. But he has it now, he has it.

I will warn you, though; idk how you are with blood and stuff, but there is a part in the beginning where Arek talks about the final battle they just went through and how his beheading of the evil guy didn’t go exactly as planned, and it does get a bit gross. Like, I’m not really good with blood and gore, but I was able to get through it; there wasn’t really a point where I felt like I had to stop or skip over. I still wanted to warn you, though, so it wasn’t like me saying “oh, it’s fun little fairytale romcom!!” and then you get to chapter 1 and it’s just blood splattering everywhere 😅

I get why people moved on and I know it would’ve been inevitable regardless since it’s over but. I guess since one half of what I’m writing about is Zack, I’m too attached to give it up right now 😅 and I got super lucky with finding the best friends through HD, and even though I’m ultimately writing everything for the target audience of me, it’s just super cool and amazing that a lot of people still support and encourage me in all those little crack AUs of mine 💖

You aren’t crazy far behind then if you’re watching the anime :) The manga’s ahead of the anime, of course, but not by a bajillion arcs. So that’s pretty cool :) ISN’T IT SO FREAKING TOUCHING? This series is ridiculous. I have reread and rewatched it so many times and I still cry in places, or still burst out laughing other places. It’s just so freaking well done. And then the places where it isn’t 100% perfect it’s like, who cares because everything else is so amazing. Nothing will ever 100% be perfect, anyway, because everyone likes different things. 

I love the current arc in the manga…. I’m not sure if the anime is on that arc already or if it’s still in the arc just before it, but either way it all leads together into sort of telling the same story.

OMG NO KIDDING ON ACE T_T Did you get the Ace that everyone got around the Marineford thing a month or two ago? He’s the only Ace I have. I really wish I could get other Aces too T_T There’s one of him at a hot spring which I just think is fucking hilarious XD So I really want him XD

That’s one of the funny things about OPTC–it’s really fun getting the characters, but then the fact they have all these versions of the characters, and the things they say in some of their versions, or the way they look, is so funny.

My friend just got a Mihawk who cracks me up because he sounds like he’s coming onto Shanks XD He’s in this super sexy male model pose and he’s like– wait, let me just show you XD

lolll just kidding but seriously, it’s so hilarious. I know that’s just a line taken from the series, a pretty cool scene in fact that was relatively serious, but when you combine him saying that while specifically addressing Shanks and in his male model post plus also what is he doing with his right hand??? 

It’s just so funny XD Combined, it gives this really amusing totally unintentional other vibe than what the line was from the series XD

You are doing the right thing, even if you have money. You should definitely not spend money XD I mean, I’ve gotten some great characters from using gems I bought, but I also wasted a shit ton of gems. 

Like this latest sugofest, I had 50 gems I’d bought, and I thought at least I’d get some cool marines or something. I got the shittiest pulls!!!! wtf! I only got 2 legit actually good characters out of 11. My friend who started playing the game with me in January (he’s also obsessed with OP and he told me about the game), he’s had way better luck than I have on a lot of his pulls generally. Like he got Fujitora right away, and right away found a Blackbeard friend. I’ve been on the struggle bus for different parts lol But finally I’m getting cool, more powerful characters. Jinbe/Jimbei, Marco, and Namule with a Moby Dick ship are my fucking jam, and then I’ve been cycling the other 2 characters because some big bosses have immunity which renders my beloved Usopp Golden Pound useless, etc.

Anyway point being, this shit is random as fuck, so whether you spend the money or just diligently save up through the free play, you have the same chance for luck as anyone else.

BUT if you haven’t already checked out the optc subreddit and guidebooks, I did find them useful. I don’t really play as a AND SO I MUST BE BEST PLAYER EVER KEEPING ONLY TOP NOTCH CHARACTERS ALWAYS PERFECT TAP TIMING!!!?1/11 sort of person–I like collecting the characters because I love them from One Piece, and it amuses me to see different teams, etc, but I do also like being able to clear content without being annoyed. So I do tend to use my Jinbe/Jimbei team the most, because it works really well with Elephant Gun Luffy as my helper/friend captain. But anyway I don’t know what pirate level you are–if you’re a lower level than me and are trying to figure out if you should power up this or that character or evolve someone or whatever, if I happen to have heard anything about it I can let you know :)

btw that’s been my usual crew when I can afford it–EGLuffy, Jinbe, Marco, Namule, Usopp GP, and then I like to have Perona but my Jinbe costs 55 atm so I can’t afford her but HOLY SHIT DUDE I did Smoker + guard point Chopper instead of Usopp/Perona on the Garp isle yesterday, and I still had to spend gems because that fucker kills me so fucking fast, but it was super helpful to have that defense instead of offense on an immunity boss–idk why that hadn’t occurred to me before.

Oh oh oh I saw some pics I took of my figurines though, in looking through this, so I’ll do a separate post of that in a second because they’re cute XD I got the little tea guys (I wanted the whole crew T_T But I couldn’t get it to order from Japan T_T Crunchyroll told me I ordered it and then it canceled on me T_T) so anyway I only have 3 (Zoro, Nami, Chopper) but they’re really cute on my bigger figurines XD They’re supposed to hang out on a cup but they’re way cuter hanging out on these guys. I’ll do another post to show them!
