Bad Things That Happened to New Believers Are Satan’s Temptations

I welcomed the Lord’s return.

Since I was little, I had followed my mom in her belief in the Lord Jesus and had enjoyed bounteous grace from Him. After I grew up, blessed by the Lord, I was successful in my career and my family was happy. I was so grateful for everything the Lord had bestowed upon me that I actively attended gatherings and ardently pursued.

At a gathering in the summer of 2003, two brothers testified about Almighty God’s kingdom gospel to me. They fellowshiped with me about various aspects of the truth, such as the purpose of God’s six-thousand-year management plan, the three stages of God’s work, and the significance of God’s name. When they fellowshiped about the scripture: “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24–25), I realized that the Lord Jesus has become flesh once again and expressed the truth in the image of the Son of man, doing the work of judgment beginning with God’s family; He is condemned and rejected by the pastors and elders in the religious world. This reminded me that the pastor and elders told us to guard against Eastern Lightning at every gathering, stopping brothers and sisters from investigating Almighty God’s work of the last days. It was just like how the Roman government and the Pharisees condemned and rejected the Lord Jesus when He came to carry out His work. This exactly fulfills the words: “But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.” At that time, I felt brightened within and confirmed from my heart that Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus. At the end of the gathering, the brother gave me a copy of The Scroll Opened by the Lamb and told me that this book is the personal utterances of the Christ of the last days and that I should read God’s words more in my spare time. On my way home, I was very happy, thinking, “In my lifetime, I am able to welcome the Lord’s return. This is truly my blessing and special favor! I will properly follow Almighty God.”

Afterward, I eagerly read God’s words whenever I had time, feeling these words were so good. Through reading Almighty God’s words, I understood many mysteries in the Bible I didn’t understand in the past, my heart becoming more and more brightened. Just when I was enjoying the bountiful supply of God’s words, Satan’s temptations suddenly befell me.

Temptations befell me.

One morning, just after my husband got up, his waist suddenly hurt so badly that he couldn’t stand straight. Unable to work, he could only lie in bed. Seeing his pained expression, I felt distressed and bewildered, “He was fine yesterday. How could he become like this today?” Then I called my parents-in-law, asking them to take my husband to the hospital. Only a few days later, my daughter, who was always very healthy, got a cough and had a high fever all of a sudden. I iced her forehead constantly and gave her cough medicine, but neither worked. She was still running a high temperature and had a sore throat. I had to take her to the hospital to get an infusion. Seeing that my little daughter kept crying when the doctor gave her the injection, I got saddened but couldn’t do anything to help her.

Misfortunes never come single. The brisk business in my clothing store suddenly went south and the daily profit wasn’t enough to cover the rent. I couldn’t help worrying, “My business has been bothering me, and after getting back home, I have to look after my sick husband and daughter. What if things go on like this?” Pained and weak, I thought, “Why have I encountered so many unfortunate things? Why did God not protect me? Could it be that I put my faith in the wrong place? Before I accepted God’s new work, everything in my life went smoothly: My family was at peace; the business in my store was brisk and whatever I stocked sold well. How come things are like this now?” I was loaded down with these problems. Unable to quiet my heart, I read God’s words perfunctorily. Then, I prayed to God silently in my heart, “Oh Almighty God! Since I accepted Your new work, why do I still encounter these calamities? My husband and daughter both are ill, and my business is bad. I can’t feel Your grace and blessings. Oh God! What’s going on? I don’t understand Your will. Please lead me.”

God’s words resolved my confusion.

At a gathering, I told my sisters about what happened to me. Hearing my words, a sister said to me, “The reason why we encounter these unfavorable matters is because of Satan’s disturbance. Satan is hostile to God and it is unwilling to see people return before God and obtain His eternal salvation. So, Satan uses various ways to interfere and prevent us from accepting the true way. Only when we see through Satan’s schemes can we not be deceived by it.” Then, the sister read one passage of God’s words to me: “In every step of work that God does within people, externally it appears to be interactions between people, as if born of human arrangements, or from human interference. But behind the scenes, every step of work, and everything that happens, is a wager made by Satan before God, and requires people to stand firm in their testimony to God.” After reading God’s words, the sister fellowshiped with me, saying, “Outwardly, your husband and kid suddenly get ill and your business goes south, but actually, it is a spiritual battle; it’s Satan’s wager with God. Today, God’s coming to do the work of judgment in the last days is to save us mankind from Satan’s dark influence, so that we can live under God’s care and blessing. However, Satan is unwilling to let us worship and obey God. So, when God saves us, it trails along behind Him and uses all kinds of methods to tempt and disturb us, doing its best to prevent us from returning before God. For example, Satan targets and attacks our weak points. It makes our family lose peace so that we would fall into its temptation and mistakenly think that we encounter these matters because we put our faith in the wrong place. Its purpose is to cause us to doubt God, deny God and finally refuse God’s salvation and miss the extremely rare chance to be saved. In fact, everything God does in us human is love and salvation; only Satan harms us like this. Yet these matters we encounter are sanctioned by God. God permitting Satan to do so is to make us recognize its evil essence and see clearly the ugliness of Satan that uses various methods to disturb us and stop us from coming before God and obtaining His salvation. Meanwhile, God uses Satan’s obstacle and disturbance to test whether or not we truly follow Him; if we truly believe in God, no matter how Satan disturbs us, we will stand witness for God relying on our faith.”

After listening to the sister’s fellowship, I suddenly realized: These calamities I am encountering are in fact Satan’s disturbance, and it wants to use these to prevent me from accepting the true way. Its motive is too vicious! At the same time, I also understood this: Everyone who accepts God’s new work has to experience the spiritual battle. God’s permitting Satan to tempt me is to make me see through its schemes and know its evil substance so that I can finally stand witness for Him. God’s wisdom is exercised based on Satan’s schemes. After coming back home, I prayed to God, “Oh Almighty God! It turns out that these unhappy situations I encounter are Satan’s disturbances. Oh God! Now I know it is Satan’s scheme. I’m willing to stand witness and won’t forsake You. May You guide me and give me faith.”

I saw through Satan’s schemes.

After my prayer, the emotions I had restrained for so long were a little released. However, after a period of time, the business in my store was still stagnant; sometimes the profit even couldn’t cover the rent. Therefore, I was very distressed, thinking, “Every month, besides our high daily expenses, we not only have to pay the rent but also have to repay the housing loan. We can barely live on my husband’s salary. What if this keeps up?” Unconsciously, I again fell into Satan’s trap. My confidence in God started to ebb away and I felt very weak in my spirit.Right as I was perplexed, I saw a passage of God’s words: “What you pursue is to be able to gain peace after believing in God—for your children to be free from illness, for your husband to have a good job, for your son to find a good wife, for your daughter to find a decent husband, for your oxen and horses to plough the land well, for a year of good weather for your crops. This is what you seek. Your pursuit is only to live in comfort, for no accidents to befall your family, for the winds to pass you by, for your face to be untouched by grit, for your family’s crops to not be flooded, for you to be unaffected by any disaster, to live in God’s embrace, to live in a cozy nest. A coward such as you, who always pursues the flesh—do you have a heart, do you have a spirit? Are you not a beast? I give you the true way without asking for anything in return, yet you do not pursue. Are you one of those who believe in God?”

Through the revelation of God’s words, I realized that my perspective of believing in God was wrong. I thought as long as I believed in God, He would give me peace and grace and I wouldn’t encounter any unhappy situation. When my family was not at peace and I couldn’t afford the rent, I complained against God and doubted His work. I regarded God as an object that I could make demands of. God is the Creator while I’m only a created being; worshiping and obeying God is the law of heaven for me. God became flesh twice to work to save us and has provided for us selflessly without claiming anything from us, while in my belief in God I blindly made demands of Him. I was so unreasonable. Was I at all like a true believer? In the past, I thought I believed in God sincerely, because since I was little I had believed in the Lord, and I also accepted God’s new work. However, today, faced with the fact, I had to admit that my belief in God was only to gain blessings and grace. I was really unworthy of God’s salvation! “Now Satan is taking advantage of my intention of gaining blessings to disturb me, and to make me shun and deny God, and thereby to cause me to betray God due to not gaining grace. Satan is too evil. If I’m weak and passive and complain against God, am I not falling for Satan’s scheme?” At this thought, I had the will to betray Satan and satisfy God. “No matter what environment I encounter, I am willing to rely on God to experience it and never complain against or doubt Him again.” I thought of God’s words, “Any and all things, living or dead, will shift, change, renew, and disappear according to God’s thoughts. This is how God rules over all things.” “Yeah, everything in the universe is determined by God, and changes according to His thoughts. No matter how savage Satan is, it is also under God’s feet. Whether or not I can afford the rent and whether or not my husband and daughter can recover are in God’s hands. I should look upon God and entrust these to God.” At that time, I was no more restrained by these matters.

God showed His deeds.

Thank God! When I was willing to obey, something miraculous happened. My daughter gradually recovered from her fever and cough, and my husband’s waist slowly got better after treatment; my business also picked up. I couldn’t help giving thanks to God in my heart. If it hadn’t been for God’s protection and the timely guidance of His words, I would have fallen for Satan’s schemes and thus have lost God’s salvation.

After experiencing the spiritual battle, I saw Satan’s meanness and evilness and turned around my wrong perspective of believing in God. Instead of seeking blessings and welfare of the flesh, we believers in God should seek truth and grasp God’s will from all people, events, and things we experience based on a belief that God holds sovereignty over everything; at the same time, we should get to know ourselves through the revelation of God’s words and finally achieve changes in our dispositions and live out the likeness of a real man. Only thus can we be said to believe in God. Just as God’s words say, “True faith in God means experiencing the words and work of God based on a belief that God holds sovereignty over all things. So you shall be freed of your corrupt disposition, shall fulfill the desire of God, and shall come to know God. Only through such a journey can you be said to believe in God.” Thank God! All the glory be to God!

The Truth About Dropshipping: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

No matter what other salespeople tell you, dropshipping is not a get-rich-quick scheme.

Sure, it seems like easy money — you sell other people’s goods and take a cut for yourself — but when you factor in all the drawbacks, obstacles, and day-to-day management, it’s far from easy.

However, if you approach it the right way, and use the proven strategies below, dropshipping can still help you build a successful business…just not as quickly as you’d hoped.

Let’s put it this way: if you’re only doing dropshipping, it’ll be difficult to get your business off the ground; but, if you’re already established in ecommerce, you can use dropshipping to complement your existing services and improve your business.

In this guide, we walk through all the problems with dropshipping that aren’t as publicized as its perks. But despite its flaws, dropshipping can still be a powerful tool for ecommerce brands, as long as it’s used properly.

5 Hard Truths about Dropshipping No One Talks About

Before you put all your savings into a new dropshipping business… don’t!

It’s difficult to maintain a business doing dropshipping alone, let alone start one from scratch.

Here’s why:

1. Low profit margins.

Sure, since you don’t have to manage or store your own inventory, the overhead is low — but so are the returns.

You put less money in, but you get less money out. That means you have to do a lot of business just to stay afloat, let alone turn a profit.

Think about it this way: every sale you make, most of that money goes to the supplier.

What you earn is basically skimmed off the top.

That’s hardly enough to cover your expenses for marketing/advertising, maintaining your site, managing sales orders, and covering your office hours.

According to Fit Small Business, you can predict your income using these variables (they’re averages, so they’ll change depending on your industry and situation):

20% margin.

2% conversion rate.

You can then calculate a working estimate using this equation:

(Traffic x 0.02) x (Avg order value x 0.2) = Profit

While this is fine for a quick starting estimate, there are a few problems you also have to consider:

Chances are, your discount on buying from manufacturers and wholesalers will be less than 20%.

This doesn’t account for any of the additional expenses mentioned above that you have to pay from your end. It’s not the final profit.

For most products, you’ll have to cut into your profits to keep your sales prices competitive. If you stubbornly hold on to your 20% margin, other companies will easily undercut you.

On top of that, you’ll notice that your profit is also largely determined by your traffic, so if you’re building an ecommerce brand from scratch, you’ll be struggling for a long time as you build a client base.

It’s much more reasonable to approach dropshipping when you already have a regular source of traffic.

2. Highly competitive.

There will always be overly optimistic entrepreneurs who focus solely on the “low overhead” part, ignoring the clear evidence above.

Because very little capital is required to start a dropshipping business, that low barrier to entry means a lot of competition, with the most popular markets suffering more than others.

Basically, the bigger a company is, the more they can reduce their markups to offer the lowest prices.

Reiterating what we said above, smaller businesses have to cut into their profits just to stay competitive with their prices, and at a certain point, it becomes unsustainable.

To make matters worse, chances are you don’t have an exclusive deal with your suppliers.

That means any number of competitors could be selling your exact same products. And if you’re just starting out, your rivals with years of experience have the resources you don’t to undercut your prices.

That means customers can buy the exact same thing from someone else for cheaper — why would they buy from you?

3. No control over supply-chain.

In standard ecommerce, if customers complain about product quality, fulfillment speed, or return policies, you can address the problems yourself.

In dropshipping, you’re more or less at the mercy of your supplier — but you’re the one who still has to talk to your customers directly.

Dropshippers are essentially trapped, doing little more than hoping the supplier addresses the problems while simultaneously reassuring the customer about something that’s out of their control.

On top of that, there’s also a delay in communication as the dropshipper goes back-and-forth between the customer and the supplier. If one answers slowly, all communication grinds to a halt and the problems take longer to fix.

In ecommerce, customer service is paramount.

Even the slightest transgression — such as a delay in communication — pushes your customers right into the hands of your competitors.

And if they’re vocal about it, those bad reviews early on could end your business before it even starts.

4. Legal liability issues.

Although this isn’t a common problem for dropshippers, it’s worth mentioning. Some suppliers aren’t as legitimate as they claim, and you don’t always know where the merchandise comes from.

Even more deceptive is when suppliers illegally use a trademarked logo or another company’s intellectual property, which happens more than average.

Whatever illegal activities your suppliers are up to, as their vendor you’re automatically complicit.

This potential problem can be rectified with a solid Dropshipping Agreement Contract, but not every dropshipping upstart knows that.

It’s something you’ll want to keep in mind when choosing suppliers.

5. Difficult to build a brand.

Like ghostwriters or behind-the-scenes songwriters, dropshippers must understand that the credit for their work goes to someone else.

If whatever product you’re selling is so amazing, your customers are going to focus mostly on the product’s brand and forget about the shopping experience entirely.

After all, it’s not your logo on the box.

Branding is crucial in ecommerce, as shoppers tend to go to their favorite online stores first.

Without customer loyalty, you’ll never get the regular traffic needed to sustain an online business, especially a dropshipping one.

Again, that’s just another reason why dropshipping makes more sense for already-established brands than new ones.

Dropshipping makes a better sideshow than the main event. While its faults make it hard to support a business on its own, it still offers enough benefits to help ecommerce companies improve their business substantially.

Consider these four approaches to using dropshipping effectively.

1. Market research.

Dropshipping works better as a means to an end, not the end itself.

While a long-term commitment to dropshipping is unviable, using it for temporary projects can be extremely useful — particularly in market research.

Use dropshipping to mitigate the risk in trying out new products and used for market research.

Rather than raising your inventory costs by packing your warehouse with an unpredictable product, test it out with a trial period using dropshipping.

More than just discovering if it sells or not, you’ll also have a better estimate of how much it sells for, giving you a more accurate number of what quantity to buy for your initial stock.

This is doubly important for trying out new product types, which always carry inherent risk.

For example, maybe you’ve been quite successful at selling dog products. Would that translate well for cat products too?

That could be hit-or-miss, but you can always test the water by dropshipping a few products and see how it goes.

2. Protection from overselling.

Experienced ecommerce brands know that market fluctuations aren’t always predictable. Rather than raising inventory costs by overstocking to meet unlikely maximums, having a dropshipping supplier as a backup saves you money without losing those sales.

This is especially useful for seasonal overflow.

You can cut costs by stocking up on only the inventory you know will sell, and if an unexpected demand for sales comes in, you can satisfy them with dropshipping.

It’s a great safeguard against the uncertainties all retailers face.

Having dropshipping options in place also makes great insurance against extreme circumstances.

If something like a natural disaster happens to your warehouse, you can still fulfill pre-made orders by dropshipping the products from elsewhere.

The same holds true for side-stepping surprise shipping delays.

3. Strategic shipping systems.

One unfortunate consequence of expanding your business is shipping complications. The farther out you get from your warehouse or fulfillment centers, the more shipping fees you’ll incur.

Dropshipping can be the perfect solution for some problematic locations that fall outside your profitable regions.

Maybe shipping that far costs too much, or maybe storage prices are too high to justify setting up a new shipping center.

Maybe it’s an issue of taxes or extra fees, like when shipping out of the state or country. Relying on dropshipping for these select areas could be the determining factor in keeping you out of the red.

Moreover, just as dropshipping can be useful in market research, you can also use it to test new locales.

Why not use dropshipping for a trial period in a new location to see if it’s worth opening a new facility there?

4. High-maintenance products.

Some products cost more to stock and ship than others.

In certain circumstances, it may be more profitable for you to dropship them versus storing them yourself.

What do we mean by high-maintenance products?

Any products that necessitate extra fees for storing or shipping, such as:

Large products — Some products take up so much space, their sales don’t make up the costs of the excessive storage room.

Heavy products — If a product’s weight makes it cost too much to ship, try dropshipping from a manufacturer or wholesaler.

Fragile products — Fragile products require special care when shipping. In these cases, the supplier or manufacturer might be better equipped to meet these requirements than you.

Valuables — High-value items like fine jewelry, antiques, etc., require additional security that not all warehouses can offer. Rather than risking theft, you could leave the storage to someone who can adequately protect them.

Special conditions — Maybe you want to sell items that need to be kept frozen, or materials sensitive to light. If your inventory needs special conditions, you may be better off dropshipping than storing it yourself.

Unless your entire company specializes in these types of products, it doesn’t make sense to pay additional storage and shipping fees for a small subsection of your business.

But you can still keep your customers happy by offering these products through dropshipping.

Dark Horse Marine is a niche vendor — most people will never need to buy a stainless steel fortress anchor in their lifetime.

But Dark Horse uses that to its advantage rather than limiting themselves; they offer all sorts of rare products that only the kind of people who need anchors would be interested in.

They offer the “total boating solution,” everything from watersport equipment to boat-based entertainment systems to cartography tools. And their customers are thankful they can satisfy all their niche needs on one site.

Although Dark Horse sells on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and Jet, they’re most proud of their personal BigCommerce site.

Large and heavy items cost too much to store and ship. Just because it’s fit for the ocean doesn’t mean it’s fit for the warehouse. Anchors are the very definition of “heavy,” and a lot of their boat outfitting equipment is large or otherwise cumbersome. Dark Horse dropships the high-maintenance items to cut storage and shipping costs — and reinvests that money into marketing campaigns.

One of the early difficulties Dark Horse found with dropshipping was organizing the shipping logistics, but they’ve recently solved this problem by adopting Ecomdash order management software.

Matos further explained how one of the reasons dropshipping worked for his company is because he found excellent suppliers.

That means you must choose them with the utmost care.

Above all, you should always test samples of what your dropshipper provides.

For one thing, you want to make sure that the products are as advertised, but you should also see if their shipping meets your criteria.

Outside of the condition of the products, there’s still plenty of concerns about how your supplier conducts business.

Here’s a quick-reference checklist of questions to ask yourself before signing on to do business with someone:

How do they handle returns or damaged products?

How long does it take them to fulfill an order, from sale to delivery?

Do they insure orders?

What is dropshipping?

Dropshipping is when a vendor fulfills orders from a third party and has them ship directly to the customer.

In other words, the vendors passes on the sales order to the supplier, who then fulfills the order.

The vendor usually pays for the item at a discount by working directly with a manufacturer or wholesaler; their profit comes from the difference in the initial item cost and whatever price they sell it at.

The vendor does not store their own inventory or ship items directly. Instead, they focus mostly on marketing, advertising, and managing their online presence.

As we explain above, we only recommend dropshipping as a complement to a traditional ecommerce business model.

Research what products would fit well with your strategy, market, and customer base.

Research how your competitors are selling the product, namely pricing.

List and promote your new product. Be sure to specify any special conditions, such as changes in shipping times or locations.

Is dropshipping legal?

Yes, dropshipping is legal.

You may run into other legal issues depending on who your supplier is (as we discuss above), but dropshipping on its own is a perfectly legitimate method of order fulfillment.

Just remember to protect yourself with a Dropshipping Agreement Contract.

Is dropshipping allowed on eBay?

Yes, dropshipping is allowed on eBay.

According to the post in the eBay seller help section, dropshipping (which they sometimes refer to as “product sourcing”) is allowed, but the vendor is held accountable for a safe delivery in the time frame stated in the listing and for the customer’s satisfaction.

eBay even seems to encourage dropshipping. They say specifically that:

“you aren’t obliged to state in your listings that an item is coming directly from the supplier.”

Is dropshipping allowed on Amazon?
