so like just fyi attaching genitalia to sexuality via gender does not work. like real talk, real big talk here, it makes no sociological sense

see. here’s the thing.

if genitalia @ gender was causation rather than periodic correlation, you could make the argument that someone’s sexuality being based around how junk looks is Reasonable

but the fact of the matter is they aren’t at all related!! big shocker, gender is a social construct that is only associated with genitalia based on our perception of it. and genitalia (you guessed it) is not just This or That!! it’s a spectrum

so. the Deal. about ppl saying that they can’t be w/ someone based on their genitalia (i.e. “i’m a gay guy, i can’t date a trans man” or “i’m a lesbian i can’t date a trans woman”) is that it validates the logic that bits = you

if someone really has an issue with genitalia and cannot deal w/ how certain genitalia looks (which, btw, where do you draw the line? bcuz all genitalia looks Fuckin Different, at what point do you say Nah Sorry Can’t It’s Gross) then they need to deal with that personally, figure out their demons, and be sure that the genitalia = gender mentality is definitely not a mentality they are harboring

i’m also going to be flat out, not all trans ppl want bottom surgery. their genitalia doesn’t change One Damn Thing about their gender, regardless of whatever weird spin your brain puts on it bcuz of biology binary indoctrination

trans ppl often struggle to come out to partners. they fear rejection, based on the fact that they transitioned. even those who have had bottom surgery worry that it won’t be enough

and what does this mean for intersex binary-gendered ppl? an intersex woman, an intersex man? how do you respond to them? are they a no-go as well since they may not fit some cookie cutter expectations of what you think a crotch should look like??

but honestly

do ppl have the right to not like certain genitalia? sure

but are those ppl valid in claiming that it’s part of their sexuality? haha, no

what we are seeing here is difficulty differentiating between an attraction to a GENDER (which is. literally. what sexuality is. full stop.) and a sort of androphilic/gynephilic biological preference

just because you prefer your partner to have this or that looking part doesn’t mean it has a n y t h i n g to do with your sexuality. claiming that it does serves no purpose but to invalidate the identities of trans ppl

i get it. no, i do. you want to be A Gold Star Gay™ or A True Straight™ and your personal perception of that involves genitalia

it can be hard unlearn that! even impossible

but here’s the thing. it takes zero effort on your part to not hide behind the binary and claim that your sexuality is why you don’t like those bits. bcuz even if it’s part of your perception of sexuality, it does not mean it’s how things Should be seen

and it certainly isn’t going to do anybody any good except for you defending yourself while throwing others to the wolves

admit you have your biases, don’t make it the trans person’s problem
