I'm still not certain I have an answer for this one yet (again, I've only played through part of Heavensward) - a "poor little meow meow" suggests to me someone who is actively pathetic that I would feel protective or affectionate toward anyway - while there are characters from other media who immediately invoke that concept for me (JOWAN), I haven't really met anyone in FFXIV who quite fits that.

The closest I can get is like, maybe Foulques? He's tragic and full of bad decisions and I think he absolutely deserves sympathy while doing atrocious things - but I'm also like, completely headcanoning away most of LNC 30 (I don't think he'd murder a gaggle of anonymous Wood Wailers and I think that was incredibly lazy on Squaresoft's part as a way to justify yeeting him off a cliff to resolve a plot when prior to this, at worst, he kidnapped a lancer for shenanigans).

Or like, idk, most of the Redbelly Wasps, who I still refuse to engage in combat if the game doesn't force me to do so.
