Is this a Smash Bros thing?
One of my favorite crossover character dynamics to use despite there being no real bearing for it is to give Samus Aran and Ash Ketchum a similar relationship to Eda and Luz from The Owl House. Just, morally grey Magic Crime Bird Lady with a supremely horrible backstory, fucked up DNA and a good sense of humor meets literal sunshine child(who is secretly very sad and socially awkward) and they sort of accidentally kidnap each other and imprint on each other immediately but take forever to actually address it because they’re both emotionally constipated in subtly different ways.
Bonus dynamics include the smol animal sibling with an overblown sense of self-importance(Pikachu/King) and the somewhat annoying voice in the walls who’s very protective and just trying to help(Adam/Hooty).
