I was digging through old fic + friends got me thinking about it but eyrie and thancred could’ve had something ! there was Something There between them !
#it’s such a fun lil thing of eyrie getting swept up in the charming rogue personality of thancred#while also being the unmoveable island amongst Thancred’s sea of womanizing tendencies in ARR#hesitancy hidden beneath occasional banter—most of it being thancred with eyrie’s biting comments#the banter tipping into flirting but neither wanting to be self aware enough to acknowledge it as flirting#but then post ARR and HW happens and they are both very different people—there’s a divide#they don’t know how to connect anymore. neither of them are the people who banter like they used to#eyrie is grieving and burdened under the weight of their title and becoming The Hero#their duty being what keeps them afloat#while thancred is still drowning in the loss of Minfilia and his purpose—throwing himself into work to fill the void#adding in eyrie’s trepidation and guilt over feeling responsible for minfilia’s fate#ShB throws a lot that into light bc of mini-filia and they Struggle#even as friends ShB is a rough one for eyrie and thancred. they come to blows at one point over it all#it’s not until after ryne makes her choice + mt gulg where things take a turn for them#they really have the most fleshed out romance arc that got shelved HUH#oc: eyrie kisne
