New Years Ficlets Dice Camera Action
Note: ocs included
You had snuck away from the raging party, needing some air and quiet. That’s when you saw someone you didn’t expect to see.
Paultin:
Paultin. You stood by him, a little worried.
“Hey, you okay?” you asked and he gave you a shrug.
“Fine. What about you?” he asked before taking a heft drink from his wineskin.
“Just needed some air and some quiet.” you answered and Paultin nodded.
You two took a seat in the cool grass in comfortable silence, you head resting on his shoulder. You could hear the muffled cheers of the countdown. Paultin gently moved your head so he could kiss you.
Diath:
Diath. You went and stood by him. He looked over and you gave him a smile,
“You needed air too huh?”
“Yeah” you confirmed, “dragged here by Paultin?”
“And Mavriel, I bet”
“You can say that again.”
The two of you shared a laugh before sitting together in the grass. You noticed how cool and soft it felt. You looked at the stars and heard the muffled countdown. You made your choice. At the countdown’s conclusion you pulled Diath into a kiss
Keelee:
Keelee. The poor kenku must have been dragged to the party by his mentor Mavriel.
“Hey Keelee.”
He squawked in surprise before turning to see you. He relaxed once he knew it was you.
“Oh, hey (Y/N).” he responded warmly.
You two sat in a comfortable silence, not needing to say anything. The muffled countdown broke this though and at its end you kissed the side of his beak.
Strix:
Strix. The poor gal must have been dragged to the party by the others. You went and sat by her, sitting in comfortable silence with her. You heard the countdown and at its end you kissed her cheek.
Evelyn:
Evelyn. She must have been dragged here by her bard friends. You took a seat next to her. “hey Evelyn”
“Oh, hey (Y/N)! What are you doin’ out here? Shouldn’t you be inside?”
“I just wanted some air. What about you?”
“The same really.”
You two chatted before hearing the countdown, muffled as it came from inside. At the end, you gave Evelyn a quick kiss.
Mavriel:
Mavriel. Usually she’d be inside drinking and dancing with some attractive person. What was she doing out here alone? You went and sat by her. She looked over and gave you a smile before looking back up at the stars.
“Whatcha doin’ out here all alone?” you asked her
“Thinking” she shrugged. Ah, there it was. Thinking meant she was in a negative thought loop.
“About? And be honest”
“Home and myself” she answered vaguely but honestly.
“Hey, look at me, everything’s gonna be okay. We’ll figure everything out. Together. We’ll help you. Okay?” Mavriel managed a more authentic smile at that and nodded.
“Yeah, okay”
She wrapped an arm around you and seemed in better spirits. The countdown, muffled slightly from location, could be heard and you saw Mavriel’s smile turn impish. At the end of the countdown she kissed you quickly before getting up and hurrying off with a “come catch me” and you chuckled. At least she was back to herself.

Together forever
Part 1
Six months earlier
It had been about a week since the wafflecrew had set out from the lodge, leaving all sense of direction behind them. Zog the stump legged dwarf had a general idea of where citadel Advar was, but navigating the arctic like tundras was nearly impossible for the inexperienced. Diath honestly wondered how the dwarf was expected to make the journey alone, but to his credit the dwarf held his own against the giants when he wasn’t outnumbered.
It was now late evening and the group was beginning to tire. Strix struggled to keep her owlbear moving seeing as the beast wanted nothing more than to flop to the ground and sleep till morning. Unfortunately Paultin seemed to be of a similar mind and Evelyn was now leading him by his cloak, her winged boots helping her to drift a few inches above the surface of the deep snow. Taking note of the groups exhaustion Diath sprinted forward a few paces to the top of the nearest snow drift to look for a place to camp and thaw out their clothes.
“There’s a clearing over there we can camp in for the night. It seems sheltered so we should be pretty well hidden.” Diath somewhat shouted over the wind. “Yeah, that sounds good” Paultin replied, rubbing the snow from his eyes as Evelyn began dragging him down the hill towards where Diath had been pointing. “Come on Strix!, it’s time for another waffle hut!”
Diath stood for a moment ensuring that Zog had caught up and that Hootie the owlbear was headed in the right direction before following himself. Diath walked slowly, remaining observant trying to spot any discernible landmarks. Seeing only a small forest a few hills over he turned back to the group only to see the jester construct, or murderbot as he preferred, waddling through the snow attempting to walk in Paultin’s footsteps. Rolling his eyes, Diath joined the group to set up camp for the night.
Strix sighed as the small flames she produced caught on to what little firewood they had left. She scooted backwards from the fire in the center of the magical hut and settled for resting against the pile of bags in the corner that Evelyn was rummaging through. Diath was sitting near the fire absentmindedly playing with one of his daggers, flipping it around in his left hand as his other rested on his raised knee. Paultin had already thrown himself down onto his bedroll near the fire and was now laying with one arm draped over his head, with the construct sitting cross legged next to his torso.
On the other side of the hut Zog was removing his stilts for the night. The owlbear was nestled next to Strix and was currently pawing at the ground making slight huffing noises. “Awww is Hootie hungry, ima get you a snack” Strix cooed at the beast, quickly joining Evelyn at the pile of luggage.
“Um, Strix not to be rude or anything, you know I love hootie just as much as the rest of us but I don’t think there’s enough food for everyone AND an owlbear” Evelyn quickly said as Strix was pulling out the last of the rations, about to hand them over to their new pet. “Yeah” Diath chimed in “There’s a forest not far from here, maybe hootie can go hunt something?” with a muttered “and maybe not come back” earning him a glare from Strix. It took a while to convey the message to the owlbear but between Strix and Evelyn the beast was sent trotting towards the forest with a “Good girl? Boy? Good owlbear! Go get food!”
By the time the owlbear returned dragging something in its beak, Zog had made everyone supper with what rations they had left. Then a watch was agreed everyone settled down for the night with Evelyn taking the first shift. Unnoticed by Evelyn the construct stood from Paultin’s side and trudged through the snow to meet the owlbear on its return from hunting. It was around twenty minutes later that Evelyn noticed his absence. “Umm, guys murderbot is missing” she said nudging Diath who was resting near her. “What do you mean?” Paultin mumbled sleepily sitting up. “I mean, the murderbot is missing! He must’ve wandered off” Slight panic evident in Evelyn’s voice as her boots lifted her higher to the roof of the dome shaped hut, in hopes of getting a better view, though not much was visible in the darkness. Diath’s reply was nothing more than “Good, that thing is dangerous”. This unfortunately woke Strix who sat up startled. “Where’s the evil robot!?” Evelyn turned to Strix while still in midair. “He is not evil! He just needs a little guidance and clear instructions”
“Um guys”
“Did you even check if it’s evil? It could be really evil! You can use your Devine sense!” Strix continued, flailing her arms in exaggeration. “Uh guys?” “Well, I can’t right now because he’s not here.” Evelyn replied spinning in midair in hopes of spotting the small jester. “You have got to be kidding me!” Paultin shouted drawing the attention of the rest of the wafflecrew. “Well that seemed uncalled for” Evelyn stated, but Paultin wasn’t referring to the group but the half frozen body that the owlbear and construct were trying and failing to drag into the waffle hut.

So yeah this is roughly based on the end of dca ep 53. Thanks to the awesome @tiny-yan-anon for the inspiration! I do plan on doing a couple chapters of this but I haven’t written anything in ages so it might take a little while. Also feel free to leave suggestions c:
Together forever
(Prologue)
You watched as Diath handed over a key to the arcanaloth who quickly moved back into the portal from which she came. It quickly sealed up leaving the cave in darkness once more. Glancing back out into the dwarven city hoping that your elven eyes could catch a glance of the genie that had just been released. Perhaps you could track it and make some sort of plan to get it back into the flask.
Your knowledge of magic was limited to a few simple Druidic spells as a ranger so you weren’t quite sure what to make of the fox lady that had just appeared. Strix would probably know something, so you left her and Diath to discuss and decided to keep watch at the cave entrance.
Your thoughts were interrupted however, when Strix and Diath began panicking. Whipping around you could no longer see the pair despite your darkvision. Maybe they had simply moved deeper into the cave, so you called out “Diath! Strix!?, where did you go?”. The fact that you received no reply put you on edge. Slowly you started walking forward with hands outstretched assuming that this was some kind of magical darkness.
You jerked your hands back as they collided with a hard surface. Instead of the rough, damp and jagged cave walls that you were expecting, your hands pressed against smooth varnished wood. You reached your left hand out to continue along the wall only to find that you could hardly extend your arm as a wooden panel blocked your path, with another on your right. You instinctively take a step back only to have your back press up against wood. Panic began building in your chest, why couldn’t you see? Why were you in a box? Where we’re the others, what happened to Strix and Diath?
That’s when you heard footsteps in the distance. But not the soft patter of boots on soft earth as you had been expecting but the harsh clicking of heels on polished stone. Your heart raced as the sound grew nearer, your hands gripping the hilts of your twin short swords not knowing what to expect. The front wooden panel was violently ripped away and a plume of dust filled the air. You immediately closed your eyes and began coughing lifting a hand to your face as the dry, stale air filled your lungs.
As you regained your composure and the dust cleared, you were face to face with a stranger. The young man was pale and finely dressed in purple with long blonde hair cascading down to his shoulders. The most striking thing about this man was his blood red eyes that bore into yours as he sneered, revealing a sharp fang.
“Pathetic. I truly don’t understand what he sees in you. But the master has spoken, and who am I to disobey?”
