Intro/Summary: Vibrant, vivacious, sensuality, introspective, vulnerable, mature, lyrically inclined, identifiable, spiritual, forgiving, smooth, humerus, WEIRD is my friend Eva Rhymes. These words are exactly everything I noticed while listening to Eva's debut album "The Life and Times of Eva Rhymes". She's captured so many different emotions that dare I say it "I feel like I know more about her than I ever have". This album feels like a biography yet a private quarters conversation. Pillow talk if you will. From the identity driven "FindWeirdoz" to the introspective "InMyThoughts" she gives so much of herself and her artistry to the listener. She literally wants you to be drawn in by each song. She doesn't want you to just listen but to also grow with her through each song. What I liked: What I dig about this album is that Eva stayed true to her name and gave us some very well penned rhymes. Different cadences that fit the smooth 90s era feeling Hip-Hop beats. (which is something I really appreciate as an Emcee). The production is very clean and speaks to her ear as a artist who sought out the absolute best for her debut album. The beats alone speaks to her versatility and ability to pick the right beat for what she wishes to convey through rhyme. Making this one of my favorite Hip-Hop albums of 2017. What I didn't like: Disclaimer I am not saying to condemn but to just give insight of my listening to the album. I'm not really one for profanity but I can appreciate it being used in proper context and not sounding like the artist is just trying to sound gutter when they rap. So kudos to you Eva ya crazy bird lol. Closing Statement: This is an artist you all should definitely support and keep an eye on. I'm not gassing her at all. She's a Emcee in every since of the word but she's also a very progressive artist who embraces who she is throughout her artistry. Don't take my word for it though.
