So, for those of you who aren't aware, a substantial section of eastern Australia is either currently on fire or only a spark away from being on fire.
These are not the "usual" bushfires - a combination of drought, unusually high winds and scorching temperatures has lead to extremely dangerous conditions.
And things are about to get worse.
Tomorrow the weather is expected to put fire danger for much of NSW and QLD at "Catastrophic"
This is the same rating as the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009, which killed 180 people and devastated much of VIC.
To all my Aussie followers:
Please Stay Safe
If you are in a fire warning zone keep your tv/radio on at all times and make sure you have a plan to leave. Know where the nearest evacuation centres are, and how you can get there if roads are cut.
Do not assume the suburbs will be fine: high winds have resulted in embers travelling up to 30km from the fire front. If you live ANYWHERE near bushland, no matter how urban, prepare a go bag with bare essentials in case you need to evacuate.
Even if you are not immediately at risk, be aware of the danger resulting from smoke: air quality in Brisbane today was worse than Beijing. If you have asthma or other respiratory conditions make sure you have sufficient medication and consider wearing a mask. Even healthy individuals are advised to avoid exercising outside and stay indoors as much as possible.
Most of all
Look out for each other
This is going to be a long haul. If you can help in any way, please do. If it's volunteering or donating or even just offering somewhere for friends and family to stay it all adds up. When the fires are gone there's going to be a lot to put back together the only way we're going to get through this is by working together.
May the Force be with us all.

4 Charged Over Blaze That Devastated Australia’s Fraser Island MELBOURNE, Australia — 4 individuals have been charged with unlawfully lighting a campfire that the authorities mentioned sparked big blazes on Fraser Island off the northeastern coast of Australia in October, finally razing greater than 210,000 acres of the favored trip spot. A joint investigation between the native police and park rangers discovered that the lads, aged between 21 and 24, lit an unlawful fireplace at a campsite on Oct. 14. The authorities mentioned that the hearth then unfold in a northwesterly path, ravaging native vegetation and blackening greater than half of the island, a lot of which is a nationwide park often called Ok’gari that’s famend for its seashores, rainforest, and immense biodiversity. The conflagration was finally managed earlier this month after heavy rains helped firefighters include the blaze. Residents mentioned they have been traumatized by the smoke and speedy evacuations, however no accidents or deaths have been reported. Native officers mentioned that the lads have been cooperating with the authorities and felt deeply remorseful. A fifth male, 17, was additionally current, however as a minor has not been charged. “They’re shocked and devastated,” David Harbison, a police official at Maryborough Station, close to the island, mentioned at a information convention on Tuesday. “They have been careless, however they by no means supposed this to occur,” he added. “They didn’t intentionally set a hearth to set fireplace to the island.” The blaze was the primary vital bushfire to this point in Australia’s annual fireplace season, the ferocity of which scientists say is turning into more and more tough to foretell. Over the last fireplace season, bushfires throughout Australia’s southeast coast killed 33 individuals, destroyed 1000’s of properties and greater than a billion native animals. The world’s consideration was captured by scenes of holidaymakers trapped on seashores, the place the morning sky turned pitch black and birds fell lifeless from the sky. On the time, conservative Australian politicians and media shops promulgated the parable that arsonists have been largely accountable for the ferocity of the flames, in what critics mentioned was an try to shift consideration away from local weather change, which they mentioned was the true offender. Officers mentioned lightning strikes have been most probably accountable for a majority of the fires throughout that season. Although the Fraser Island fires have been sparked by individuals, scientists mentioned it was essential to do not forget that hotter and drier circumstances are finally accountable for the velocity with which the fires unfold and the size of their destruction. “Local weather change is making landscapes much more receptive to fireside, due to longer fireplace seasons and drier gas,” mentioned David Bowman, a professor of pyrogeography and fireplace science on the College of Tasmania. “The danger of unintentional fires is escalating,” he added. However, Professor Bowman mentioned, the atmosphere stays vulnerable to fireside even with tighter controls over human exercise. “We will’t prosecute nature, however we are able to regulate people,” he mentioned. Many nationwide and state parks in Australia, the place summer time temperatures ceaselessly exceed 100 levels Fahrenheit, have seasonal or complete bans on lighting campfires due to the danger they pose to the atmosphere. Campfires are largely banned year-round on Fraser Island, which is the world’s largest sand island, and is listed by the United Nations as a heritage website due to its distinctive ecosystem. Native rangers mentioned that witnesses had filmed the lads and made be aware of their autos, which helped the authorities convey the costs. The rangers went to the lads’s campsite, in keeping with investigators, however by that time flames had already been sparked in close by vegetation. A nine-week wrestle to extinguish the flames ensued. Firefighters, battling sandy terrain, waterbombed the area extensively. Within the meantime, the employees and friends of one of many resorts on the western facet of the island have been evacuated. The close by neighborhood of Glad Valley, with a inhabitants of about 770, narrowly escaped destruction. The 4 males — a 21-year-old, a 23-year-old and two 24-year olds from south of Brisbane, Queensland’s capital — will seem on the native magistrates courtroom in Hervey Bay on Jan. 21. The 17-year-old male can be handled individually underneath Australia’s Youth Justice Act. Underneath Australian legislation, their names haven’t been launched. Professor Bowman, the hearth professional, mentioned that for almost all of Australians, who stay in city areas, it could be obscure simply how out of hand a small fireplace might develop into. “It’s a bit unimaginable for them {that a} fireplace might escalate,” he mentioned, “and burn half a world heritage space.” Supply hyperlink #Australias #blaze #charged #devastated #Fraser #Island

A Brief Run Down Of Low Back Pain According 2020
Back pain is just about the most frequently treated traumas that physiotherapy center‘s see, approximately 80% of people reporting lower back pain throughout their lifetime. The good news is that almost all LBP resolves within two months. Between 10 to 20 percent of lumbar problems, however, do not clear up themselves and will involve the skills of a physiotherapist. Any local physiotherapist can assist in a number of ways. For recent lumbar pain, evidence recently surfaced to suggest that there’s a number of affected individuals that react well to treatment in an effort to increase the pace of healing from lumbar pain. These types of affected individuals can be identified by a physiotherapist at the examination, and react adequately to treatment, particularly when accompanied by a home exercise program to enhance flexibility and sturdiness.
For long term lower back pain it is important to understand much more about the forces that individuals put through their spine in the course of a day to day activities. Low Back Pain This can be done at the original examination simply by watching the way you move and experiencing the way in which your own backbone moves to identify any areas of rigidity that may be moved to ‘free up (like oiling a corroded gate) or any kind of spots which are very mobile. Through comprehending the biomechanics of motion we can help you to realize that through indistinctly altering the way you move it is possible to reduce the stress upon distressing cells (which will result in a very obvious reduction in your suffering) and allows them to repair.
In recent years massage therapy has lost favor with numerous physio Brisbane. There is good evidence, on the other hand, to suggest that massage therapy performed by a trained physician at your local physiotherapy center is extremely efficient at minimizing suffering and raising overall flexibility in individuals with a recent and long term lower back pain. Often when examining affected individuals with lower back pain it is possible to feel spasm and ‘ropey’ muscle tissues which are remarkably distressing to touch, with suitable therapy most of these areas become a lot less painful. The more time the anguish is existing the greater areas of muscle spasm are present. This treatment needs to be accompanied by an exercise program to improve overall flexibility and improve control within the area.
Core stability. Research regarding the activity of the backside and stomach muscles signifies that following lower back pain the deep muscle tissues are usually disadvantaged. This means that they are just a little slow to start during certain activities. There’s been a focus lately for the teaching of these muscles in order to re-educate all of them to work more quickly in order to protect the backbone. This system can be extremely efficient when utilized in conjunction with other forms of treatment as identified previously and recent research suggests a certain group of affected individuals reacts particularly well to this particular procedure. These individuals can be identified at an examination.
There are many important things to consider when suffering from a recent occurrence of lumbar pain which could help before physiotherapy. You must not have bed relaxation for almost any more than 1-2 days and really should make an effort to stay energetic. Bed relaxation for more than 2 days slows down your healing. It is important not to stay in one position for too much time and to increase the probability of improvement in the very first 7 days you must take NSAIDs. If you are off work, attempting to return to work as soon as possible will help to keep you moving and energetic. You should consult your physiotherapy center immediately right now if you experience; numbness or altered discomfort in the area between your legs (the saddle region), changed function inside your bladder and bowel (e.g. a loss of command, or even right after urination a sense of incomplete evacuation or having to and being unable to) or any kind of loss of sexual function (loss of erectile function in males and loss of sensation in women.

Queensland faces flooding rain after fires
Parts of Queensland which have endured nearly a fortnight of bushfires are now having to deal with flooding rains, as residents return to find out whether their homes made it through the blazes.
On Tuesday afternoon severe storms were dumping heavy rain and large hail on many parts of central Queensland.
It’s hoped the rain will help douse many of the fires still lingering around the affected areas, however authorities issued a warning on Tuesday for potential flash flooding, in an ironic turnaround to the last few days of scorching conditions.
More rain and storms are forecast for Wednesday in many areas. Despite the wet weather, fire crews are still battling more than 100 fires across the state, but conditions have eased enough to allow them to get the upper hand and allow residents back into the area south of Gladstone.
Those who fled Deepwater, Rules Beach, Oyster Creek and Baffle Creek were allowed to go home from midday on Tuesday.
Authorities continue to monitor several of the most serious fires including one on North Stradbroke Island, off the coast of Brisbane, and another at Lowmead in central Queensland.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Commissioner Mark Roche warned the danger wasn’t yet over and asked evacuees to be patient.

Speed limit signs confusing drivers
Angry drivers have accused police of deliberately trying to confuse motorists with different speed limit signs just so they can be fined.
Canberra motorists were left baffled after three different speed limit signs were put up near each other on Flemington Rd.
A picture was posted to Reddit showing speed limits of 40km/h, 60km/h and 70km/h just a few metres apart.
One user argued the speed limit would be 70km/h because that sign was further back than the other two.
“I would argue 70km. It is the last visible speed sign and the construction bollards have been removed from that point onwards,” they wrote.
“The conflicting 40km and 60km is an issue though. Which dumbarse put those two signs out.”
Another user claimed the signs were there to deliberately confuse drivers.
“Given the conflicting road rules and signage it’s almost like they are deliberately confusing drivers to fine them.”
But it turns out 40km/h is the correct speed limit, with a spokesperson for the Australian Federal Police telling the Daily Mail that the different signs were a result of the lightrail construction.
If you are caught going 70km/h in a 40km/h zone you will cop a $420 fine and three demerit points.
Is it 40km/h, 60km/h or 70km/h?Source:Reddit

Man criticised for stupid train stunt
Shocked onlookers watched on in horror as a man was almost dragged under a Sydney train, all because he didn’t want to wait a few minutes for the next one.
Disturbing CCTV footage, released by 7 News, shows a man sticking his hand between the closing doors of a train in Seven Hills in an attempt to get inside.
But the doors didn’t reopen as he had hoped, instead they clamped down on his hand and started to drag him along the platform.
Luckily he was able to break free just seconds before being dragged onto the tracks.
NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance warned impatient passengers that ignoring the doors closing announcement could have tragic consequences.
“It’s just unnecessary. I mean this person could have lost their life, lost a limb, all because they were rushing to a train,” he told 7 News.
“People just don’t think. They think they’re invincible.”
Social media users were quick to criticise the man, calling him “stupid” and “idiotic” for his actions.

Day 48, Quebec City, 24 th September
Woke up to an unbelievable day especially after the gray skies of yesterday. The sky was brilliant even though the temperature was cold. 0 degrees but I can handle that for some sunshine. I left the hotel really early to make the most of the good weather. The Ramparts of the city are the only remaining fortified city walls in North America north of Mexico. The British began refortifying the existing walls after they took control of Quebec City from the French in 1759.
The walls are in good condition and you can wall along the top of some of them.
Guard house.
Parliament building of Quebec. It was built between 1877 and 1886.
Outside of the walled part of the old city’s Quebec City is a modern city of close to 900,000. Most tourists only visit old Quebec City that has all the history and the quaint streets and buildings. You can go up to the top of the round tower to the viewing level.
The Saint Lawrence River, an important sea lane for Canada.
The Plains of Abraham. The battle that took place here in 1759 was a deciding moment in the conflict between France and Britain over the fate of New France which later influenced the creation of Canada. The Battle of Quebec which was the culmination of a 3 month siege lasted only an hour and in its wake the French evacuated the city. France ceded most of its possessions in eastern North America to Great Britain in the Treaty of Paris. The Quebec Act, passed in 1774, allowed 'les Canadiens' (today, also referred to as the Québécois) to have religious and linguistic freedoms, to openly practice their Catholicism and use their French. The Constitional Act of 1791 divided Canada into an "Upper", English-speaking colony, and a "Lower", French-speaking colony. Quebec City was made the capital of Lower Canada and enjoyed more self-rule following the passage of this act.
A surviving Martello, little fort, Tower under repair on the Plains of Abraham.
Old canons from WWI.
The Citadelle of Quebec is still an active Military instalment and is located on top of Cap Diamant. It has a commanding view of the area. A citadel of some type has been in this location for over 300 years. You can see Lévis across the river.
The walls of the Citadelle
The Governor’s Promenade is a giant boardwalk that connects the Plains of Abraham Park to the Dufferin Terrace.
Walking up the stairs from the Dufferin Terrace onto the Governors Promenade.
Dufferin Terrace was a Terrace that wraps around the Chateau Frontenac and overlooks the St Lawrebce River.
The beautiful sunny day certainly makes everything look good.
The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac dominates the skyline. It was opened in 1893 in the historic upper town. It was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway. I have now been to nine of these Fairmont Hotels across Canada. I haven’t been in any of the guest rooms but I think Ottawa’s Chateau Laurier is the classiest looking walking through all the common areas. I did have a good look at that one going into any room that wasn’t locked so I saw the Ballroom and other flash rooms. I did that in Toronto, as well, but it still didn’t compare. Lake Louise and Quebec City Fairmont had too many tourists wandering through them, including myself. I would be a bit annoyed if I was paying the huge money to stay there invading my space.
The lower Town and harbour,
Looking down into the Lower Town.
Petit Champlain was the oldest commercial district in North America. It was also supposed to be the narrowest shopping street in North America, as well. It contains lots of restaurants and interesting boutiques.
The old Quebec Furnicular was opened in 1879 and it connects the Dufferin Terrace with the Lower Town. You can get between the Upper and Lower town by stairs, as well.
Basse Ville where poorer people, workers and seamen lived.
Two cruise ships were in the harbour. I would image there could be more in the harbour during the summer months. You wouldn’t be able to walk easily in some areas of the city then.
The city from the far side of the river.
On the other side cliffs rose up and the village of Levis was above. I decided to climb the stairs for a look. These were only half the stairs as it was hard to get them all in. I kept thinking that this was good exercise and as I said before climbing stairs has got easier. I ended up for the day climbing 41 flights of stairs and 20,000 steps according to my monitor, more than I did in Montreal the other day when I climbed up to Parc Mont Royal.
Loved all the wooden painted houses with their towers and verandahs in Levis.
A mural was painted along a wall depicting the changes over time to the area starting with the fact that this area was first settled by Native tribes.
Big Catholic Church and school in Levis which had a very distinctive french look to its design.
Another nice looking church in Levis.
This cross looked across the river to Quebec City.
Nice looking house
On the ferry.
The Basse Ville with the Chateau above.
This building houses exhibits about the urban life of the early city. From 1663 to 1673 some 800 women were bought out to the colony to increase its population. Most were orphans and the government paid their passage and settling costs.
Restaurants all along the buildings of the Basse Ville, or lower town.
Bringht umbrellas.
Place Royale. This was one of the oldest areas of Quebec City and has World Heritage listing. This was where Samuel de Champion first started to build his settlement.
Interesting streets.

Tropical Cyclone Debbie
Tropical Cyclone Debbie has reached Category 2 strength and is forecast to further intensify to Category 4 strength, crossing the Queensland coast on Tuesday between Rollingstone and Proserpine.
Queensland Regional Director Bruce Gunn said this cyclone is very dangerous, and of a size not seen in Queensland since Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasi in 2011. ‘Communities between Lucinda and St Lawrence, including Townsville, Bowen and Mackay, may experience gales in the next 24 hours, with the Whitsundays and surrounding coastal islands among the first areas to be impacted,’ he said.
‘Storm surge is also risk factor, and if the cyclone crosses the coast around high tide this will enhance these effects. People living in coastal or low-lying areas prone to flooding should follow the advice of local emergency services and relocate while there is time.’ The Bureau is also warning for abnormally high tides (large waves, storm surge and rough to phenomenal seas.
‘Cyclone Debbie is likely to maintain cyclone strength for some distance inland towards Charters Towers, with damaging to destructive winds, delivering significant rainfall as it tracks to the west-southwest,’ Mr Gunn said.
A Category Four system is defined as one that has sustained winds in the range of 160-200kmh, with gusts up to 280kmh.
Although the strongest winds are near the core, damaging and very destructive winds can extend several hundred kilometres from the cyclone’s centre. Based on current forecasts Townsville may be impacted by Category Three strength winds, with gusts in excess of 165kmh.
Widespread daily rainfall of up to 200mm is expected with the passage of the cyclone, with isolated falls in excess of 400mm possible along the coastal fringe. A Flood Watch is current for coastal catchments between Cardwell and Gladstone extending inland to the eastern Gulf Rivers.
Localised flash flooding is likely, and the public is urged to stay tuned for warnings. Avoid travel when warnings are in effect, exercise caution if caught in a heavy downpour – and never walk, ride or drive through floodwaters.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are urging the public to:
• Stay tuned for the latest official forecasts and warnings from the Bureau, and follow the advice of local emergency services. • Discuss your plans for possible relocation with your loved ones so everyone knows where you are going and when you expect to be there. • Pack an evacuation kit containing clothing, valuables, important documents, medications and sleeping gear in case you need to relocate at short notice.
