From the ashes: I like to imagine that on certain nights near halloween, Mahariel visits Tamlen’s grave (the tree she planted for him) and can spend time with him, for a short time....whether its actually his spirit or a hallucination caused by her strong feelings and memories, we can’t be sure, but his smile is gentle and comforting.

It’s OC sharing day over at @thejbusition‘s blog so I decided I’d share my favorite character and reason I got into Dragon Age in the first place, Ethiri Mahariel.

She’s the Hero of Fereldan, Mistress to King Alistair (But is loved like the queen, and has a say in court decisions) Warden Commander,and a proud Dalish. Ethiri used to hate humans, because they caused the death of her parents and people, and she never interacted with them. Becoming a warden was terrifying, meeting humans was nerve wracking, and walking the streets of cities for the first time made her lonely and homesick. In the beginning she tries hiding her vallaslin and ears from the humans, hoping they wouldn’t look down on her but when she accepts her role as grey warden, she pushes her bangs out from her face and exposes her ears, holding her head high. Through the party members her opinion is swayed and she starts to think humans aren’t so bad, and becomes close to Oghren and Sten. “Shem” is still a word she has a hard time keeping out of her vocab though. She considers every member of the party her family, and would sacrifice anything for them. Despite her grumpy exterior, she’s kind hearted if you don’t do anything to cross her or her friends.
