first kiss (resident evil men headcanons)
just some general headcanons with little blurbs, will write the one for the girls soon i promise. includes; albert wesker, leon kennedy, chris redfield, carlos oliveira, and ethan winters. not proofread
albert wesker:
wesker is a man with very deliberate actions
the decision to kiss you was one he had debated for a while
but for the first time in his life, he just went with the flow
total gentleman about it, not wanting to scare you
he lives for how you react to him and his touch
it's a cold chilly night as your boyfriend walks you to your car in the umbrella parking lot. albert wesker and you had only been dating for a few months. once you two had reached your car, he stood in front of you. his intense eyes hidden behind his glasses but his mouth was in a rare smile, one reserved just for you. as you finished up your small talk, albert's hand reached up, grabbing your chin.
"can i kiss you?" he asked softly. you looked up, face flushed at the question before mumbling out your response, "yes, please."
his lips pressed yours in a soft kiss before he pulled away. he mumbled his goodnight to you as he opened your car door and you swore he was blushing a little.
leon s kennedy:
he's a little mess during this
sure he's got corny one liners at the ready
in reality he's stumbling through his words whenever he tries to be smooth with you
it's cute and you love it so he doesn't let it get to him
he's extremely hesitant, you have to take the initiative
you and your rookie cop of a boyfriend were on the front step of your apartment building. the two of you had spent the night out just taking in the city, you could tell leon was nervous as he stuttered out his words. he was too cute, you reached up and pinched his cheek a little causing his face to flush.
"slow down leon, what's on your mind?" you asked him, giving him your full undivided attention as he began to ramble on again.
"i was just thinking that, maybe, if you're okay with it of course, that i could kiss you goodnight? if not that's totally okay and we can pretend this ne-" you cut him off as you pulled him in for a kiss. his entire body tensed up before he relaxed into it, his hands even finding his way to your waist.
chris redfield:
he takes the initiative
once you do kiss he gets all blushy as he tells you how nervous he was
when the actual kiss happens he doesnt quite know where to put his hands
they settle on cupping your face
he's smiling into it the entire time
the two of you are on the couch in chris's apartment. his arm is around your shoulder as the two of you watch a movie, chris laughs loudly at each joke no matter how unfunny they are. you're resting your head on his shoulder as the movie ends and the two of you are left in the dark room. a soft light barely lighting your features.
at this point the two of you are talking, sitting face to face. chris's hands are resting in his lap now and your faces are getting closer. when the two of you become aware of this closeness, he closes the gap. his lips find yours in a soft kiss. as you kiss him back you can feel him smile, his hands cupping your face ever so gently.
as you pull away, you know he's blushing, you can tell by how he's a little giggle. his voice is soft as he holds your hands in his.
"that was amazing," he says.
carlos oliveira:
he's flirting with you
you've had enough at this point and go for it
and you somehow manage to surprise him
although he's back to being a cocky asshole in no time
he'll tease you for this for the rest of time
you roll your eyes as carlos hits you with another cheesey remark. the man's broad stature walking next to you. you could've sworn he was getting you all worked up on purpose. the two of you get into an elevator, finding it completely empty.
fuck it
you pull him down, slamming your lips into yours. you smirk as you can feel his initial surprise and he's quick to push you back against the wall. he pulls away both of your faces flush.
"just needed to get more of me, huh sweetheart?" he says, smiling down at you.
ethan winters:
he's so nervous and awkward about this
he'd hate to make you uncomfortable so expect to have to initiate
ofc once you ask he is excited just filled with glee
he's extremely gentle, his hands are on your neck pulling you close
gives you a small smile afterwards
ethan and you were just hanging around your house, lounging about. it was a day off for the two of you. you hadn't been dating for more than a few months at this point and things moved slowly. the two of you were slowly leaning in without realizing it as you joked around both of you just enjoying the other's company
ethan was aware before you were, you noticed him stiff up. he had always been shy about initiating things and this was no different. you were confused before your brain processed your face's proximity to his. it felt like the right moment.
"ethan? can i kiss you?" you asked softly. he could feel your breath against his lips as he nodded. his breath hitched in his throat as your lips touched his. he let his hands slide up to rest on the sides of your neck. his lips pressing yours deeply. you pull away, your eyes fluttering open to find his gaze on you. he was completely smitten, his lips curled into a small smile as he laughed softly.

I still don’t understand the excuses people use to hate on Ethan: “he’s not badass” - he survived two horror game situation without training or proper equipment, all other RE games the MC is trained in some way or already starts with a gun, Ethan starts with his bare hands and sheer force of will; “he has one liners” - well Leon is full of one liners and people think he’s the coolest, not only that but the earlier games had pretty corny dialog (1/2)
“Ethan is not relatable” - excuse me? A regular person who is forced to go through many trials in order to help a loved one while surrounded with people that know more of what is going on and constantly belittle him for not knowing while refusing to explain things by purposefully being vague to the poor guy? Are you really saying that a secret agent, bare handed, regular human, punching a truck sized rock into an active volcano is more relatable than Ethan?
When you're a Resident Evil fan, you have no room to complain about Ethan being corny or cheesy. Your favourite game series started with a game with the line "You were almost a Jill sandwich" in it. Resident Evil's theme is to be cheesy, don't complain that they just embraced it with Ethan.
Like. People complaining about Ethan being the way he is... Just strikes me as those people wasting their time. Ethan is the way he is for a reason. RE7 itself was an effort to bring new life and a new path to the series. If they had simply made Chris Redfield 2.0 or Leon Kennedy 2.0, that effort would have failed because that's what the games' protagonists have been like since the first game, and it would just feel like a pointless repeat.
It's like... idk, it's like taking Romeo and Juliet and complain about the protagonists being two impulsive and horny teenagers, when them being that way is exactly what made the story.
Like. A character is interesting when their traits follow the theme and genre of their story, when they feel they belong in the story being told. We don't need a deep backstory from Ethan for him to fit in the theme of re7 and re8, and not every character needs a dramatic backstory to be interesting in the story they're in. I've watched all seasons of Once Upon a Time, where many many episodes included mundane flashbacks of the characters and let me tell you, there's always a balance as to how much backstory a character needs. Ethan's motivations are simple: first to save his wife, then to save his child. You don't need a complex backstory to understand that. You don't need a complex person for that.
And despite what many people will insist upon, the simpler the character, the easier it is to follow their story. You don't move on with them expecting to learn why and how they became who they are now; you focus on the current story, and how that story came to be. In re7, you get the hints of how Eveline appeared at the Baker house, until you get Mia's flashback. In re8, you get the hints of how the Lords came to be and Miranda's plan before you get Miranda's full backstory. Ethan's past is not a priority in those two games, and the simpler it is, the easier it is to piece together the entire story, because you don't waste time focusing on Ethan's past.
Ethan is an (almost) unwilling participant in the entire drama (meaning, Eveline controlled Mia to contact him and ask him to come; he came to get Mia back, but he didn't know about Eveline's plan to make him her dad. Miranda kidnapped Rose and gave her parts to each of the Lords, thus secretly manipulating Ethan into going through them; he willingly went to save Rose, but he didn't know he was Miranda's pawn from the beginning) and a backstory from him wouldn't add much to the narrative. He was a simple dude; Eveline wanted him because she had imprinted on Mia as her mother, and Ethan was her husband, so it fit that he could be her father. Miranda wanted Rose because of how Ethan's mold infection (that he knew nothing about) made Rose powerful enough to (possibly) be a good vessel for Eva. It all connects together and honestly I don't know what more people were expecting in regards to his backstory.
Some stories and characters are complex. Some stories and characters are simple. We need both of those and everything in between.
And frankly, Ethan being the way he is is what got me into the game from the beginning. The first time I was watching a playthrough (without knowing anything about Resident Evil aside from the fact that it had zombies), Ethan mentioned "What happened in Louisiana" and I was like oof yet another Deep BackstoryTM I won't be able to follow because I don't know anything about it. But then he showed to be as clueless as I was. He was always asking what the fuck, and what is that, and what is happening, and I was like "Yeah exactly WHAT". And even though I had to pause watching because of all the horror stuff, I actually felt the need to learn more about the game because fuck, that guy was relatable. I found out Ethan had not much of a backstory pre-RE7 and at first I was disappointed, but then I realized it didn't matter; I didn't need it; I knew fuck all about him, but when he woke up next to the crashed truck in the beginning and said "What the hell happened here?" I was like "You stole that from my mouth". Because if he had an "interesting secret" about him, when Chris appeared and didn't explain shit before shooting "Mia" and taking him and Rose away, Ethan would've been like "That happened because I did this and that in the past" but instead, without any juicy past, Ethan is just left speechless - as are we! Why is Chris Redfield, the hero of these games, suddenly gunning down an unarmed civilian he was supposed to protect? What is happening??! And though I didn't realize it then, it just clicked for me. I cared for this dude I didn't know a single thing about. And when I finally mustered the courage to watch a full gameplay, I spent the entirety of it going like "We're in this together, Ethan". And I feel that this is exactly what the creators intended for us to feel for Ethan.
And I think a lot of people miss that, because they're used to "traditionally" badass protagonists who know exactly what to do and have lots and lots of interesting things about their life, and like... not every video game protagonist has to be like that. There isn't one correct formula. If Ethan doesn't work for them, that's okay, not everything works for everyone, but it's doesn't make him a bad character because the way he is, even simple as it it, shapes the game. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the game wouldn't be survival horror if Ethan had guns and lots of ammo from the start, it wouldn't be unexpectedly humorous if Ethan's quips were smart, the Beneviento house experience wouldn't be as terrifying if Ethan wasn't verbally showing his own terror, the "father's story" wouldn't hit so hard if Ethan's love for his daughter was one of the things he had going on instead of THE one thing. Like you feel sad for him dying because he was a simple dude. Because it could have been you. It's really as simple as that. And people thinking Ethan is a bad protagonist are missing the entire point, basically sabotaging themselves from enjoying the game's full potential.
TL DR, Ethan is a very simple character who doesn't need any extra juice and the way he is makes re7 and re8 especially the games that they are. Many people don't see it, because he's got a subtle "existence" and personality, but if he were any more complex those two games wouldn't be what they are (and considering many consider re7 the game that revived and saved the series... Ethan Winters my beloved <3)

au where Rosemary is Leon’s kid too after like a one time thing way earlier on, (the bakers happen earlier) but him and Ethan never see each other again bc they’re both busy. Anyway Rosemary happens and she and Ethan get on well all things considering. But Rosemary grows up and wants answers and goes running off against Ethan’s wishes and her little trail ends up in the village.
And like for the sake of this Leon is there too, but they end up working together. And Leon gets attached v quickly to this sarcastic and reckless teenager and he feels like a dad the whole time but he likes it. And Rosemary thinks Leon’s so lame, his corny one liners aren’t cool at all and she thinks he dresses like he’s having a midlife crisis but he’s also actually very nice and she likes him too. And then Ethan shows up having wrecked half the village to find her and he sees Leon like “how did you know/find your dad???” and Leon and rose are just sitting there bc “excuse me what?”
#ethans quickly backpedaling like#nvm young lady why did you do this#but she’s stubborn#meanwhile Leon’s having flashbacks#to one of the best one night stands of his life#but also processing the fact#that he might be a dad#and how crazy is that#trans Ethan#lethan

I love Ethan bc he's such a dramatic dork. Like all the cheesy one-liners and empty "threats" that no one will ever hear? It's like he's puffing out his chest and trying to act like some tough action hero he saw in a movie once, even though we all know that he already IS a hero without all the dramatics. It's so funny to me and it makes me love him so much. What an endearing lil nerd
I really truly love that part of him. He’s such a dork and it’s endearing as fuck. I just believe he’s cheesy all the time. He’s not exactly the most suave person and Mia is definitely more outgoing. But you know she’s had to endure more than her fair share of corny jokes and puns. He was cracking dad jokes before Rose was even born. Now he’s just insufferable.
And ofc canon already showed us he then laughs at them. Omfg I love this man so much.
DLC where he just tells dad jokes to Rose for an hour.

Stayed up all night finishing Resi 8. Really good game. Highkey hated the bullet sponge slog of the factory at the end tho. But I guess it's ok to be a bullet sponge since it IS the last level. I guess. That being said I love all the characters. All of them. The plot was dope. The voice acting was dope. (Except Ethan. He did some corny one liners/dumb decisions but that was so charming in it's own silly right). I had a love hate relationship with the Beneviento house. I love the horror element being cranked up by making you feel helpless without your guns. And hated it because I'm personally a scaredy cat and WOW I needed a break after THAT jump scare (you know the one in the basement...) Needed my roommates to be in the same room as me to lend me strength for that. But also kinda hated how short it was (but was also relieved because, again, chicken shit scaredy baby). Really sad there wasn't much of any screen time for Angie and Donna. I love them. Donna is so pretty and god she deserved so much more screen time. She was so damn cool. I wish we had more info on her or at least a journal or something in her house! Honestly tho this is a Donna/Angie appreciation blog now. Poor girl had so much shit happen to her :( and she hardly even had any lines (iirc she only had 1 line right?) Moreau made me feel sad and he deserves love :( Karl is cool and his boss fight was fun, tho kinda wish they leaned him into a werewolf trope instead of a... Whatever that was LOL. But all in all great. And of course I feel scorned Dimitrescu came and went all too fast. My favorite section of the game hands down. Thirst aside, her castle is gorgeous and (mostly) fun to traverse. She and her daughters give me so much life I just can't. I love them and the Benevientos so much. The marketing team knew what they were doing when they went all in on that area. Hopefully we get some dope dlc and get more Dimitrescu or Beneviento stuff!

photo anon again! thanks for the screens! you can see parts of the text beneath the grime, so yeah it was written, it all got grimy and then got cleaned (i remember reading a post somewhere saying it was donna's message because rose was special to them, how they were manipulated victims and nothing they ever did was their fault... on twitter if you look up the message, 'donna wrote' appears a lot - as I didn't have the before/after I couldn't confirm, but given the whole uh dismemberment issue it was a weird take). Next time you play pls tell us what books there are in Ethan's house! are there romanian books? the architecture book from George Trevor (;_; Lisa Trevor's father) is one I remember along with the Kendo survival book. am living/exploring vicariously through you >:)
Yeah. I'd seen the "take" of Donna having been the one to write that message to Ethan, but... it seemed kinda weird, like, why write that when you're actively trying to stop him from saving his daughter? Like, that sounds like a huge victimization of Donna in ways that don't make sense. I mean, Donna is certainly a victim of Miranda. You don't need to make her someone who allows the main character to kill her while she secretly wishes him good luck, in order to make her interesting and tragic (sounds more like fridging a female character, if you ask me). Despite Ethan's corny one-liners, once you realize how much Miranda messed everyone up, you kinda get the feeling of re7 all over again, how you've been fighting victims all along, but you really had no choice since they were actively coming for your throat. So there's really no reason to try and make up stuff as canon to make the Lords more tragic than they already are.
I don't think there are any other books you can look up at Ethan's house, but I can certainly try and look around the entire place for everything. (Also, that's who that Trevor guy was. Oh man 😞) And since it's not a time where I need fast performance for action and shooting, I can put up the graphics so I can take better and clearer screenshots of stuff. I'm glad you're enjoying the liveblog! It's so much fun to do and I'm happy other people are enjoying it too. I'll certainly try to replay the game more times (for achievements and stuff) so if I notice more details or other stuff I like and wanna talk about, I'll keep making posts about it! ❤️
