Bloodborne is seriously the most beautiful game of all time i think about this every single time i replay it but genuinely. Just exploring yharnam and staring in awe at how gorgeous everything is, its never about graphics, bloodborne has a noticeable stylization i think in a way even stronger than other fromsoft games, and the use of lighting and color palettes is just so good it makes me want to Be there. The game is already so stunning as it is ingame but i think having access to the map viewer on my own to the side made me appreciate it even more i love seeing the way everything is constructed and put together with just the flat textures before applying any engines and even as flat surfaces you can just feel the cohesion in the backgrounds, even textureless stripped of everything that makes it "beautiful" it still feels so unique and already gets the vibe across and that explains how the game feels the way it does visually, which is something i think a lot of current gen "high fidelity" games struggle with. Hard to explain what I mean but I feel it. Also i love the slight like chromatic aberration effect bb has on the edges of the screen it adds such a nice touch to the atmosphere honestly. Sighs dreamily

Love the phrasing of this because it absolutely does make me think of some hidden entrance in the side of a mountain leading to a cavern with an underground forge and dwarven workshop full of rare and possibly enchanted metalcraft.
#you climb deep into the Rocky mountains (the article says they're in colorado)#out past the parks populated with tourists and hiking trails and picnic tables#past where any trail at all will take you#there is a small vale deep in the shadow of the mountain#past a stream and over broken rock through wildgrown brush tucked between the boulders at the mountains base#there is a door.#it's gilt in brozen etched with delicate images and mysterious runes#you knock three times--as you were instructed-- and it swings smoothly in without a sound and without a hand to guide#you step inside and the door closes firmly behind you#you are wary but not afraid#the passageway you stand is carved into the mountain and it too is etched with markings#simpler but still beautiful#the passage is dimly lit by a few evenly placed small lamps ensconced in the walls#as you walk down the corridor the floor winds slightly downward#soon you see the glow of a stronger light ahead and begin to hear the rhythmic working of a hammer#you emerge into a large cavern aglow with warm light#it is the merging of the wonders of the mountain's natural features and craftwork of man#it is workshop and forge and home all in one#everywhere you look there is something to dazzle the eye#the walls are carved as if by the careful hands of centuries#the benches and worktables are simple but lovely dark wood worn smooth from ages of quiet workers hands upon them#fine tools of trade are organized each in their place#the workings of the past hand displayed-- simple armor extravagantly shaped helms#fine shining swords#elaborate goblets and fine worked gold jewelry#at their patient work are four men#they are simply but neatly attired#they are bearded with the lines or work etched into their faces#they are adorned with a sense of agelessness#they have always been here at the heart of the mountain crafting the treasures of the earth if only one knew where to look for them

I just can't stop doing projects... I'm really happy with how this sign turned out. Spent only two days working on this, thanks to my library's makerspace!

Prints 2, Jonas Wood’s exhibition at Gagosian Gallery in NYC, consists of over thirty prints made between 2018 and 2022, in a variety of styles and subject matter.
From the press release-
You have to build the print piece by piece. I just love the way it looks, the process, the whole feel of it. It’s irreplaceable. —Jonas Wood
The works on view in Prints 2 feature Wood’s perennial motifs—plants, pottery, portraiture, interiors, landscapes, and basketball—reflecting the life of the artist through representations of home, studio, and natural spaces. They are united by Wood’s transformation of subject matter into images with skewed planar space, dense patterning, and vivid color. Developing his prints in parallel with his paintings, Wood has arrived at linked practices that continually inform one another.
Emphasizing the collaborative aspect of printmaking, Wood works with masters of traditional methods who have made innovative contributions to the field. Prints 2 features works made with Aliso Editions, Cirrus Gallery & Cirrus Editions Ltd., Counter Editions, Hamilton Press, Mixografía, and Pace Editions. In addition, Wood publishes and copublishes under his own imprint, WKS Editions.
The stylistic diversity of Wood’s prints results from his experimentation with pictorial effects, processes, and materials, effectively exploring the genre of printmaking itself. The methods used to produce the works in Prints 2 include hard-ground and soft-ground etching, lithography, screen printing, and woodcut, as well as various hybrid processes. Wood pairs these techniques with variations in mark making, color, texture, and density to harness and reveal the characteristics unique to the medium.

Why is nothing easy in renovating? Joiners finished up fixing the floor (Yay! No holes anymore!) and said they'd attach new skirting boards as part of the price. Great, I thought, they'll be bog standard simple skirting boards like what was there before. Oh no. Come back to find these horrible chunky skirting boards that I assume are meant to be modern but they literally just look like a plank of wood has been attached to the wall
