I had the pleasure of attending a very interesting grass-roots type of panel discussion. There was some very motivating speeches, interesting stories and confessions... Glad I found this place after all these years that it's been around. Definitely another #safeplace for the #LGBTcommunity to tap into. This collection of poems breathes life into the visions of peace and many paths of protest that encompass the movement for Black Lives. Poems for Resistance uplifts the voices of BIQPOC (Black, Indigenous, and Queer People of Color) poets and creatives and the allies who stand in-step with them. The zine’s price is based on a suggested minimum donation of $5 for a digital copy of the zine and $10 (incl. shipping) for a print copy of the zine. Donations received from the sale of Poems for Resistance Vol. 1 will be used to support individuals, organizations, as well as mutual aid funds aimed at promoting restorative justice and racial equity in communities of color. These past few days/ weeks/ months have been so full!!!! And, I am taking a moment today to just reflect on the past week. What a blessing it's been to be able to manifest so much beauty and creativity with so many amazing people. In the last week, we hosted our @mujeresmercado at main plaza, held a sugar skull workshop at #esperanzacenter, began painting our new space, held a new moon blessing for it and I've been working on new pieces for my upcoming shows plus trying to finish up some pieces that I've been wanting to put some energy into. It's. A lot. Sometimes I get nervous it won't work out and feel overwhelmed. But at the end of the day I look around and remember I'm not doing any of these things alone or even just with one other person (tho my sister from another mister @verythat is one of the best collaborators I could have ever prayed for). I have such a fierce team that I get to be a part of. And, I'm grateful that Creator has given me these partners and guides to help manifest a life of abundance. So, here's my s/o to seizing the day! May we all continue to live in light and abundance, everyday!
