(Please read everything first before blindly responding as you read. I have points that are made after I say something lmfao) For me, I think I’m just having a hard time understanding how it’s okay for you to still support and follow Nico despite his following McLeod (which as stated prior, everyone knows he goes through his following. He might not post but he’s active on the app and has had ample chance to unfollow during the whole thing) but it isn’t okay for people to support Team USA and co just because of the President (which is virtually out of their control). Maybe it isn’t you, but there have many so many other people slandering supporters of Team USA because of the political standing of the country, and I don’t think that’s fair. People can have pride in the teams representing their country without supporting the person running it. They don’t go hand in hand and it seems that notion has gotten lost along the way.

I also want to add that while yes this team has known Trump supporters and I don’t support them, they’re arguably the better out of the two USA teams we got this year. The fuckass Tkachuck’s weren’t leading and spewing off their baseless, tasteless bullshit.

I (!!!!) never said people couldn't support Team USA, I said that someone who outwardly, loudly (those being key words, because if someone is actively endorsing trump in the current social climate, they cannot separate themselves from the bigotry associated with him) supports trump should not separated from their politics - and I then said that because sports (and I think especially international sporting teams) are so innately rooted in politics, you can't separate them either - meaning anyone who wants to link the two and have conversations around them should be entitled to do so without being called a clown

as much as I don't agree with nico following mcl*od, as much as the link makes me feel ill, and I'd be much happier if he did unfollow, it is not the same thing as outwardly and openly speaking in defence of him and his beliefs or what he did - yes he goes through his following, but we don't know what the team have communicated down to the players around the whole thing. I don't want to speculate on that because we will never know, but I think there must be something legally there for no one to have said anything on it and an unfollow from any of them especially now that there is eyes on could look like a statement from the team itself which has legal implications if this trial doesn't go well - but it's the same throughout the NHL, no one has actively spoken on it as far as I know

you're right - it isn't me - I was actively posting earlier in support of team usa (specifically this iteration because like you said, the four nations team turned that tournament unnecessarily ugly and got rightly humiliated for it) and their win despite me rooting for Switzerland throughout the tournament - I think fans have every right to be proud of them and I never said otherwise

LMFAO, please don’t get me wrong!

The fandom has rightfully kept a foot on their necks for the past two seasons and it has been truly delightful to watch them get dragged.

But I’m wondering now if production is going to abandon the show bc “the PC PoLicE/SjW WOKIES! won’t shut up😡.”

It’s a shame for the show to end this way b/c S5 & S6 were so well done and S7 was a start despite its many flaws, but if this is the end… 🤷🏾‍♀️ farewell I guess.

As a side bar that’s loosely related…

Speaking as someone from the U.S., where we’ve been witnessing the political pendulum swing backwards toward conservatism for the past five years, (but it has been truly dark past few months with the roll back on trans and reproductive rights😢), it is a bit worrying to think about the impact this political climate can have on media. Entertainment is seemingly a place where more liberal ideas thrive, but media is also a form of social programming. Our political and social climate will always influence our media, for better or worse.

It’s interesting, then, to consider how Druck’s trajectory in its second generation, but S8 especially, has almost embodied the current regression toward conservatism with some slutshaming/victim blaming attitudes being expressed and the POC characters being sidelined. It makes me curious to see what a third generation would look like, should they choose to do one at all.

I don’t know if anyone else has been feeling/witnessing this shift in their own country’s politics/social climate and I would love to hear any Germans to chime in and express their thoughts on the matter. Do you think any shift or trends in German politics/social attitudes/etc is partially responsible for S8 turning out the way it did? What does everyone else think?

Like another account said on here, we should already be past the kind of conversations/debates that we’re having. Past the kind of storylines and ideas presented in Druck S8. This sort of regression is so jarring b/c I had really thought we’ve moved past this. But alas, here we are. 😪

To wrap this up on a positive note, I’m happy that Druck’s 2nd gen introduced us to such a diverse and talented group of young actors ❤️ I hope for nothing but the best for them in their future endeavors. A round of applause for all their hard work! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
