CROCFANARTCROCFANARTCROCFANARTCROCFANARTCROCFANARTCROCFANA-
I did not expect Vtoony to have the hc that Tamka is Pua’s son like I do but I’m actually so happy I’m not alone. Granted, I personally don’t hc Tamka and Nduli to be siblings but any croc hc is a good one in my book
Also the fact that they’re like “only time will tell if they [Tamka and Nduli] get the courage to leave the float” makes me think of my hc where they actually do leave (albeit briefly) after an argument with Kiburi.
It’s pretty cool learning about the other crocs in the TLK universe. There were a couple I already knee about like Pumbaa Jr and that croc from a story called “The Brightest Star”, but it was still cool to see them getting some recognition :)
Highly recommend checking them out, their artwork is great!

My Kiburi relationship headcanons are so important to me, man
We have this grumpy crocodile who acts like he doesn’t care about anything but put him near his loved ones and he goes soft (even though he may not act like it)
Tamka, Nduli, and Neema have stuck by him through thick and thin and he sees them as his family, especially Nduli who’s like a little brother to him. Like they are his entire world
He also becomes BFF’s with Janja and now they’re practically inseparable with their snark and confidence
I’ve mentioned he sees Kenge as part of the float and they’re super tight
Njano may be kinda annoying to him but he still has his back
He listens to and respects Pua to no end cuz Pua’s essentially his second dad
And because I’m counting oc’s:
Wakali’s his pride and joy and if anybody even looks at her the wrong way, he’ll kill them
He may bicker with Ucheshi but there is no denying he still loves and cares about his baby sister to the ends of the Earth. And it’s the same vice versa, they have that really strong and special bond that screams “If you wanna hurt my sibling, you’re gonna have to go through me first”

Fluffy moments in the series/TLG headcanons
- Flashbacks of Makuu and Kiburi’s friendship
- Flashbacks of Kiburi’s float as babies in general, they were so innocent back then. I’m talking about:
- Nduli following Kiburi around and later bonding
- Tamka giving his friends piggyback rides
- Pua singing the hatchlings lullabies
- Kiburi being a genuinely good brother to Ucheshi
- And so on and so forth
- Janja and his friends reuniting with their parents
- Chungu befriending Nguvu, Aibu, Kifo, and Kiatu and acting as emotional support
- Nguvu’s still talking with her family despite her worries that their relationship is strained since they last spoken thanks to him
- Aibu and Kifo were able to find a better home
- He’s the reason Kiatu has multiple chicks instead of one. He encouraged Kiatu to be different from other shoebills
- The first time Kiatu’s chicks call him their uncle 😭
- Chungu hugging Janja and Cheezi when he comes back and him saying how his clan were his real family all along. Though he also mentions that his parents are watching over him
- Ucheshi and Kiburi bonding during their trail to Udugu and finally making up
- Kiburi apologizing for his actions after saving Nduli from Hatari and Nduli hugging him
- “I’m sorry…”
- “*sniff* I know 🥹”
- Kenge teaching the kids and the skinks how to defend themselves and warming up to them
- Kenge and Ushari’s friendship
- 50% of Kenge and Sumu’s relationship
- The Idiots. Just them in general doing literally anything. Especially Cheezi inviting Sumu to hang with them
- Kiburi bonding with Wakali
- Njano and Kenge being brothers for a day
- The skinks are pretty wholesome when it comes to each other
- All of Ucheshi’s relationships
- Njano and Danganya’s relationship
- Njano and Hodari being BFF’s
- Pua being the dad friend to the crocs
- Reirei and Goigoi’s love story
- Sumu reuniting with his mother and referring to Jasiri and the other pack leaders as his friends
- The appreciation party the Outlanders throw for Jasiri
- Sumu and Madoa forming an unlikely friendship
- Tamka and Pua making up and putting everything behind them. It ends with both of them getting emotional and promising to spend more time with each other (which I mentioned before)

More thoughts on TLG episodes
The Savannah Summit:
First things first, major kudos to Makuu for actually being responsible and caring about what’s best for his float
You really can’t blame Kion and everyone else to be super skeptical about Makuu. I know he changed for the better, but he’s done…a lot since he beat Pua
“but to invite him to the Savannah Summit? With all these other peaceful animals?”—I hate to break it to you, Kion, but just bc an animal is an herbivore doesn’t mean they’re peaceful and friendly. If anything, it means survivor
Crocs at the Summit worked with Pua cuz everybody loves him 😎
“Makuu has more enemies than friends!”—So does Bunga lmao
The song is great. I love how everyone seems annoyed at first but near the end, it’s all 🎶Kumbaya, my lord! 🎶. Except Makuu…dude looks like he’s lowkey regretting his life choices he did NOT ask for a bs song
I’m totally on Makuu’s side. He was genuinely trying to be civil here, especially when it comes to Bupu
At least Beshte was trying to be the mediator cuz he looks at Makuu AND Bupu, Kion was just being kinda speciesist
Shut up, Bupu, you started the whole thing
Vuruga Vuruga saying “buffalo eat whatever we want” is actually pretty accurate. They, like other animals, don’t care. I read that buffalo will occasionally eat insects if it were an option. Even Twiga could sucking on a bone if she wanted to. Seriously, look it up
If Zazu had a nickel for every time a rhino used him as a chair, he’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice (great nod to the OG movie)
Rafiki is such a mood “not the official painting” you old ass gremlin/aff
I remember Athena P criticizing Simba for blaming Kion about ruining the Summit after Makuu understandably leaves and I agree. Wtf Simba he’s 10. Go easy on him, come on 😭
The part that irks me the most is that when Mufasa asks “What has Makuu done to make you think this way?”, Kion says “Nothing, really”. BRO WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘NOTHING REALLY’?! I understand Mufasa meant what Makuu has done today but there are a LOT of things Makuu’s done in the past that Kion should have told his grandpa. In fact, here’s a whole list:
-Taking over Big Springs when he became leader, resulting in all the animals to scatter
-Challenging kids to fight
-Taking over the flood plains
-Trying to eat Basi which would have been just him being a crocodile if not for the fact that the reason is so he wouldn’t have to follow any rules (says so on the wiki)
-TAKING NALA HOSTAGE (seriously did Simba even KNOW about that? Did Nala or Kion bother to tell him?)
-Generally being a dick to animals
Makuu I know you did nothing wrong in this episode, but you can’t blame Kion for acting this way
I’m not placing any blame on Mtoto. He’s a good boy and all he did was tell the guard what he heard and that’s it
Twiga and Vuruga Vuruga coming up with the trap doesn’t surprise me. Cape buffalo are actually really vengeful irl so it makes sense how she wanted to teach Makuu a lesson. They ain’t called “Black Death” or “Widow Maker” for nothing
It’s cool how Makuu took the prank well. Respect.
Wonder how Makuu felt about animals fighting over him lmao?
Let Sleeping Crocs Lie
Once again this episode would be VERY different if my oc Piga was still alive
Kiburi has a right to be mad. I’m not excusing what he does later in the episode but I’d be pissed too if someone woke me up
Okay but Nduli sleeping next to Kiburi is adorable. Adds to my hc how close they are
Serious question: Why exactly can’t the crocs go back to sleep after they’ve been woken up? The obvious answer is bc it drives the plot forward, but is it true in actual crocodiles? I kinda wanna know the scientific reason
Good on Makuu for going the pacifism route. He’d really do anything for his float
Love how Kiburi was like “Yeah yeah, whatever you say” but the second Makuu left, he was like “ANARCHY!”
Idk if any of you caught this, but when Ushari’s like “we reptiles will rule the pridelands under your leadership, right?” Scar actually hesitated before going “sure bud”. That makes me think he was going to betray Ushari the moment he and his army get rid of Simba and the Lion Guard
Crocs really DO need a lot of water, otherwise their lives are on the line. Makuu was really more concerned than upset
“KIBURI! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”—Fighting a child, what’s it look like
Side hc: I like to think something similar happened with Pua, Piga, and Kujivunia. Pua saw Piga antagonizing some poor young animal and he was all “Piga! What in the Pridelands do you think you’re doing?” and Kujivunia (who happened to be there), with her typical sarcasm was like “Performing a dance number, Pua 🙄”
There go the skinks again. Njano with his cuteness and Shupavu…doing her best Grinch face
“At least you’ll be close to all your friends!”Awww Beshte trying to be positive 🥺
Kiburi saying “we crocs deserve better!” brings me back to my hc that Kiburi had good intentions (again, until further in the episode), he just went about it the wrong way. He’s almost like an activist in a way. He’s not trying to be selfish, he just wanted a better watering hole. Now going as far as to rule the Pridelands…..yeah too far
The background crocodiles who were like 😦 when Kiburi called for the mashindano are so me. I’m the one going “Ooooooh shit!”
Still not getting over that super gay conversation between Kiburi and Ushari
STILL CAN’T GET OVER HOW KIBURI AND HIS FLOAT LAUGH AAAAA (Neema’s laugh tho)
Nduli looks so derpy I love him
I LOVE HOW SELF-AWARE TAMKA IS WHAT AN ICON
Lmao Nduli just gave up like “Fuck it you win”
Love the parallels of Makuu pinning down Kiburi like he did to Pua
Kiburi, I love you but what the hell did you expect? You literally confessed to like 500 animals about your plan and then you get surprised when Simba and Makuu banish you? What did you think was gonna happen? You got way too cocky, I swear
Saying this again, Tamka and Nduli looked worried/traumatized when they were exiled
“Now you’re calling me a reptile?”—My love, you ARE a reptile. I thought crocodiles were supposed to be smart omg
Kiburi’s actually showing emotion for the first time
OMG JANJA HEY BABY HOW ARE YOU?
Full disclosure: “I have a plan” is mediocre at best. It has nothing on Be Prepared. That being said, I love Kiburi’s “Aiight I’m in” smile
That’s pretty much it. Maybe I’ll do more in the future

List of AU’S I came up with
Crack Hodari x Njano (They need a ship name: Hodano? Njari? Lizards in Love? idk)
Makuu-Kiburi role swap
Hyenas-Crocodile role swap
Pirate AU
High School AU
Actor AU
Piga is alive
Danganya is alive (nothing would really change much but I like to think he, Shupavu, and Njano are a trio)
Didn’t create this one per se, but Zootopia-esque AU (specifically Kenge in that universe)
These could technically count as au’s:
A world without Jasiri
A world without Kiburi
Ushari’s still alive
Ucheshi is the leader of the crocs instead of Makuu
Okay so I was listening to “Give a Little Guy a Chance” again (as you do) and I kept thinking about Ucheshi’s reaction and then I said “If Ucheshi were the leader, she’d immediately say yes”…which led to this au
Soooooo I have thoughts….
-She’d definitely be a little more cocky in this au. Not as cocky as Makuu or Kiburi, but she wouldn’t be above rubbing stuff in animals’ faces
-Her challenging Pua to a mashindano would be so funny tho. It starts off so civilized and then it’s Ucheshi pulling a Looney Tunes and tricking Pua into agreeing to fight her
-Ucheshi would have waaaay too much fun battling Pua. She treats it as if it were a game
-Like my in-universe hc for her, she’s not a villain by any means. I like to imagine her as a neutral character if anything; an unbiased participant if you will. She respects the circle of life most of the time but she’ll let her crocs take over all the watering holes
-Like in the Savannah Summit, a lot of the animals would assume she’s here to cause trouble when in actuality, she’s pretty chill
-No but her in that episode would be so funny cuz Kion and Simba are talking about her and she just casually butts in like
Kion: I think Ucheshi has more enemies than friends
Ucheshi: *pops her head in* In my defense, so does Bunga
Kion: What the-?!
-not her breaking the fourth wall at one point or another/j
“By Pua! Have a nice life! Hope you get more screentime!”
-Don’t be fooled, Makuu still has a role in the au. He’s mostly the one by her side supporting her
-I think Kiburi would be a little more respectful than he is with Makuu. Though their disagreements are still amusing to watch, especially with her using her title as an advantage
“Sorry, who’s the leader here?”
“Ucheshi-“
“Answer the question: who’s the leader?”
“You…”
“What was that?”
“You.”
“Oh really? Didn’t realize! 😁”
-That being said, he still challenges her to a mashindano and loses, which is admittedly still very hard on her
-Instead of Kiburi trying to hurt her like he does with Makuu, he repeatedly tries to get her to become evil
-Hodari would immediately become a part of the float after singing his song. If he goes to Kiburi’s float, it’s probably to try and get the siblings to reunite and make her proud of him
“Hey guys, this little gecko is now a crocodile. You can fight me on that! No, seriously, I dare you to challenge me to a mashindano!”
-Her and Kiburi’s dynamic would definitely stay the same lmao. Imagine her reaction when Kiburi finally challenges her
Kiburi: Or…I could call for a mashindano
Crocodiles: *gasp*
Ucheshi: :0
Ucheshi: Nuh uh
Kiburi: ….Tf you mean “nuh uh”?!
Yeah my…my brain is weird djdbbdgrgrv

Headcanons and other stuff with Tamka since he still lives rent free
- In a human au, he is DEFINITELY Italian-American. Not only is he fluent, but he also unintentionally teaches Nduli some of the curse words since h curses so often. Sometimes he’ll rant in perfect Italian until someone says “….What?”
- Oh and speaking of the human au, I’m thinking of everyone having human names like ‘John’ or ‘Kevin’, so Tamka’s is Tommy cuz ofc it is
- He brags about his singing when in reality he’s pretty bad at it😭 (Though it’s strangely decent when he’s singing softly)
- He and Neema have a…complicated friendship. Neema often insults him for his stupidity every chance he gets and Tamka sometimes calls him an asshole. Having said that, they still have each other’s backs. Only they can insult each other lmao
- His relationship with his dad is, unsurprisingly, really rocky. Ever since Pua learned about Kiburi’s stunt, he’s been the most disappointed with Tamka. He knows his son isn’t the smartest, but he sure as hell didn’t raise him like that no matter how cocky he used to be back then. Tamka just chalks up their disagreements as Pua being bad at communication and always dismissing him in favor of the other crocodiles just because they were more intelligent (Tamka c’mon, everyone else’s parents had died. He couldn’t just ditch them). Even though Tamka’s said things he regrets, he still loves his dad and vice versa…especially vice versa. Tamka’s the only hatchling of his clutch that survived and Pua couldn’t afford to lose his only son, not after promising to watch over him when Kuimba died
- They do slowly mend their relationship by bonding over Kuimba. You’d think tamka wouldn’t remember his mom, but he remembers everything: her voice, her face, how loving she was, the lullabies she sung, all of it. They eventually apologize to each other for their past mistakes
- His mother had a pretty big impact on him. Tamka would trust anyone who reminded him of her without even realizing it, hence why he trusted the meerkat mob boss (who I’ll name Bosi, meaning ‘boss’) so easily. Bosi acted so sweet and motherly towards him, it was hard for him to believe she was only using him.
- Like Reirei and Goigoi, Tamka and his love interest, Erevu, have that smartass x dumbass dynamic. She thinks of everything and he supports her like the sweetheart he is :)
- Tamka almost immediately fell for Erevu when he met her. While he did find her beautiful, it was really her brains that made her even more attractive. It took a while for him to impress her, but they bonded over the fact that there’s more to the both of them than what meets the eye (ie. Erevu wants to be seen for more than just her beauty and Tamka wants to be seen for more than just his lack of brains)
- Tamka and Nduli both are really affectionate with their mates. Infinite nuzzles, compliments, and support coming from them
- He tries to be the best dad ever for his hatchlings in the future, especially with Kutojali. Unfortunately, he just ends up embarrassing them
- I agree with the hc that if TLG had cussing in it, he’d do it the most
- He’s shown to be a bit selfless at times, saying he’d rather be the one to get hurt than any of his best friends
- He and Chungu like to roughhouse sometimes. Tamka always wins, but Chungu has gotten really close a couple of times. Though he’s better suited for being Tamka’s emotional support in return for Tamka boosting his confidence
- I’ve said this before in the tags of a previous post, but he’s basically the self-proclaimed “leader” of the Idiots. Now if only Kiburi would let him be in charge of the float when he’s gone
- Even though his time in the mafia was really brief (like a day and a half), it kind of rubbed off on him. He’ll still make mobster movie references and intimidate others mobster-style
- You know what’ll make him change his ways? Saying he’s breaking his late mother’s heart. Works every time lmao
“You’re breaking your mother’s heart”
“MAAAAA! I’M SORRY, MA! 😭”
- He and Nduli have their own Youtube channel in the Zootopia AU where they do a bunch of comedic skits and do a bunch of stupid stuff (think Smosh). They’re also Kiburi’s biggest fans and have even done collabs with each other

Some more angsty TLG stuff cuz we all need some angst in our lives
- Tamka having a breakdown over his lack of intelligence in his episode. After he finds out he was being used by the mob and he pushed his friends away, he thinks he’s all alone and starts to cry
- Jasiri remembering her past and how she seems to be forgetting her mother…. oof
- Chungu realizing he’s never going to find his parents (it’s brief, but still upsetting)
- I’m imagining at some point when the OG trio come back, they start inviting themselves into Janja’s life more and more. Shenzi especially does this since she didn’t get to be much of a parent when she was forced to leave the Outlands as to not get suspected for killing Scar by Zira. It’s honestly fine for the Janja at first, then it starts getting annoying when Shenzi (unintentionally) becomes degrading by providing unnecessary protection. It gets to the point where Janja snaps at his mother about how he isn’t a cub anymore and she can’t treat him as such after leaving for so long
- So my Sibling’s Day idea, right? Where Jasiri invites everyone’s siblings over for a celebration and to let them know they’re appreciated? Cute wholesome family moments, right? Well, not for a certain lizard cuz Njano slowly gets more upset the longer he looks at everyone having a good time with their respective siblings, reminding him of Danganya. He legit goes from “Aw that’s nice” to “heh…they look pretty wholesome” to “maybe a little too wholesome” to “just like….him”. He acts all fine when Shupavu asks him if he’s okay but inside he misses his late brother :(
This episode idea is one of the rare times he actually frowns. Njano’s a generally happy skink, but when he gets upset, Danganya has something to do with it
- Reirei: What are you scared of?!
Goigoi: I’m scared of you
Reirei: Me??
Goigoi: I'm scared that... One day, you'll see yourself as I see you... Perfect.. And... That you'll leave me for someone you deserve..
-I think I’ve mentioned this before but Nduli’s trauma caused him to have a fear of abandonment and it shows. Ever since he lost his mother, he’s scared that his float would leave him like the majority of animals he knew. He can’t even handle being alone for a few hours cuz he’ll get paranoid. He’ll try to be optimistic at first, but the more he’s alone, the more worried he gets cuz there’s always a possibility his friends aren’t coming back. So he has to be with at least one of his friends or else he becomes a scared child
There would be an incident in the future when he has kids where the float wakes up at the end of the dry season and one of Nduli’s daughters, Shauri, isn’t there and Nduli straight up has a panic attack (dw she’s fine. She just got woken up in the Dry Season)
-Kiburi frequently still has nightmares about his father’s death. Every time he wakes up, he snuggles just a little bit closer to one of the other float members
-Kenge and Shupavu go through the same thing with Ushari’s death. If only Kenge had been there instead of ditching his only friend…then maybe Ushari would still be alive. Shupavu could have done something instead of staring like a fool, but she didn’t
- Sumu blaming himself for Kenge getting hurt when Mkatili’s chimps attack. Kenge keeps telling him to shut up and that he’ll be fine but Sumu can’t help it
-Selena Gomez’s “people you know” perfectly encapsulates Makuu and Kiburi’s rift
We used to be close, but people can go
From people you know to people you don't
And what hurts the most is people can go
From people you know to people you don't
That’s basically them
-Imagine how Pua must feel knowing that basically all of his friends had passed on. It’s basically that one drawing of all the regular show characters and Skips being the last one left
-Mzingo constantly being reminded of the fact that he nearly killed Janja by trapping him in Pride Rock even though he didn’t know the hyenas were there in the first place
- TW for character death
This isn’t gonna happen anytime soon but…Pua finally completing his journey. It was a peaceful death with all the crocodiles by his side. He has last words for everyone (basically all the crocs we care about). Everyone, even Makuu and Kiburi, cried
Tamka takes it the hardest, he thinks he should have been a better son :(
-Sometime, in the far future, when all the kids are grown up and Wakali’s the new leader of the crocodiles, Nduli’s gonna be the last of his generation to still be alive. He’s still the same Nduli, albeit a bit sadder cuz all of his friends have gone without him. He’s no longer the baby during that time and while he has to be strong for the sake of the float, it’s proven hard for him cuz he can’t help but miss his friends

Okay Nikki, you’ve made a fair amount of TLG oc’s. You do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT need to make more. ESPECIALLY not next gen oc’s. It’s not necessary. You understand? NO MORE—
…..I made more TLG oc’s.
Pua’s mate: Kuimba (singing, to sing)-A singer in the Pridelands and easily the kindest, prettiest, most loved crocodile in Pua’s float, and that’s what made her perfect in his eyes. The heart and soul of the float, she was able to open everyone’s minds when they were subjects to change. Because of her love of singing, she could do so at any given moment and the rest just allowed it because they loved her that much. Although she wasn’t a complete idiot (she was ditzy tho lol), Tamka gets his stupidity from her
-She died when Tamka was very young. Thankfully, he was old enough to remember her and carry memories of their time together
Piga’s mate: Ungwana (gentle)-If Piga had a soft spot for someone before Kiburi, it was her. Living up to her name, everything about her was gentle. Her gaze, the way she handled things, her voice…especially that voice. Never raised it or anything. She’s kind of has a way with bad boys, which is how she won Piga’s affections. Kiburi doesn’t have too many memories of her, but Piga sure does
-She also died during Scar’s reign, specifically the time when the float finally moved on with the other animals. It was extra rough for them, seeing how there were so many mouths to feed. Quite a few of the members starved to death, Ungwana included. She always put others needs in front of her own
Kinywa (mouth;mouthy)-Nduli’s mom and the sassiest in the float. She kinda had that wine aunt energy and says whatever the hell she wants. Nduli gets the sass and some of his temper from her, not to mention he was kind of a mama’s boy when not following Kiburi around
-How she died: Alright, so the Dry Season is difficult for practically all the animals in the Pridelands. But it’s especially the hardest on crocodiles, as they tend to get more moody and make worse decisions than other animals. This happened with Kinywa. She was unfortunate enough to get woken up during the Dry Season (no one knows what caused it, as she was the only one to wake up) and decided it was a good idea to try to hunt a rhino calf, causing its parent to get involved and….well, I don’t think I need to explain who won….or lived.
Next gen outlanders: (WITH VERY BRIEF PERSONALITIES)
Janja and Jasiri’s kids-Shida (troublemaker) and Hatima (destiny, fate)
Shida-Shida is the older sibling. A hyperactive little troublemaker who enjoys pranking his fellow Outlanders just for fun.
Hatima-The younger sibling and the more mature of the two. Being a girl and based on how hyena clans work, she is destined to be the next leader. Problem is, she doesn’t know if she really wants to lead the Outlands in the first place. She would rather figure out her own destiny
Chungu and Aibu’s kid-Huangaza (sparkle); she’s the most extroverted, yet ditziest of the bunch. Total hippie personality-wise. She just wants to make friends and chill
Cheezi and Nguvu’s kid-adopt a wild dog pup named Igizo (play); a playful, fun-loving pup who just wants to have a good time and never takes anything seriously. He treats everything as if it’s a game
Nne and Madoa’s kid-Hila (cunning);the sarcastic, cocky friend who always has an answer for everything. He likes to show off his smarts and frequently calls himself a genius.
Kiburi and Hukumu’s kids (one of them, at least)-Piga; the rebellious, self-proclaimed “tough guy” who doesn’t take anyone’s shit. Doesn’t last long with his parents though, as they usually tell him off (He’ll only listen to Hukumu, as she scares him a bit lol)
(One of) Tamka and Erevu’s kids-Kutojali (indifference); The one who’s been done with everybody’s shit since the day he hatched. Like Erevu, he often looks on the logical side and is usually embarrassed by his dad
(One of) Nduli and Kuamua’s kids-Shauri (rascal); The most clumsy, but rambunctious croc you have ever met and Shida’s best friend. Her “genius” ideas often get the two into trouble cuz of how she acts before she thinks, leading to uh….interesting situations
Outlanders whose kids live in the Pridelands:
Kenge and Maji-unnamed children
Shupavu and Njano-Ushari. Yup! They named one of their kids after him! The definition of chaotic neutral. He’s a little shit who says and does whatever he wants, not really caring about the consequences…at first. He’ll still back down when there’s an actual threat. The best way to describe him is the song “One Jump Ahead” from Aladdin. That’s his antics in a nutshell.
-Ushari was the only one the skinks actually picked a name for. Njano accidentally blurted it out loud enough for him to hear and it stuck
-Ushari (as in the cobra) is in charge of watching over the kid and he’s even taken him under his wing
-His catchphrase, like his dad, is “Trust me!”
-However, I’m also thinking of the name Mpangaji (mischief-maker) since the name is a bit more fitting and less confusing lol idk

Headcanons about (mostly) the Outlanders cuz I think I’m going back to my Lion Guard phase
Hyenas:
Like I said in a previous post, they’re basically the next generation of Shenzi’s clan
Also like I said, Chungu appeared out of nowhere. He’s most likely an orphan who was fortunate enough to meet Janja and Cheezi and they’ve been together ever since
All of Janja’s clan have been friends since they were all cubs and they’ll stay like that forever :)
Nne is the best singer out of all of them (mainly cuz he’s voiced by Beau Black, who sang “Here comes the Lion Guard”)
Oh, and he was SUCH a mama’s boy. Always hoping he’d make his mama proud
It took Tunu and Wema a while to get used to Janja and his clan, but when they did, they absolutely adore Chungu and Cheezi. The two hyenas who they thought were bad turned out to be really nice
Jasiri sometimes turns to Nne and Tano for advice and even takes their suggestions on how to hunt. She appreciates their intelligence a lot more than Janja did (although he kinda likes to brag about them cuz they were in HIS clan after all)
I know I saw a comic on Deviantart about how Shenzi, Banzai, Ed, and the rest of the clan left in the first place because they were scared of Zira and what she would do to them when they found out who REALLY killed Scar. And you know what? I 100% agree with it
And yes, they all came back when they discovered Zira died. It was a very wholesome and emotional reunion. Everyone cried tears of joy, everyone’s parents were alive and well, they all caught up, it was adorable
Chungu would eventually notice he doesn’t have anyone to reunite with and goes off on a little journey to find his parents, not knowing he doesn’t have any and despite not remembering much about his childhood. It’s okay though, with the help of some animals that he meets (and some VERY obvious signs from Ushari’s ghost watching over him), he comes to realize that his clan are all the family he needs
Also holy shit, this could be a really good fanfic-
Crocodiles:
Pua used to be exactly like Makuu when he was younger, which is why he has faith in him and believes he’ll learn with experience. Needless to say, he was right.
And for the record, he thinks Makuu’s doing great :)
Pua keeps up with all the gossip in both the Pride and Outlands. Being banished from the float gave him some benefits (and he’s doing just fine)
Being the friendliest croc in Africa, he’s become sort of a grandpa figure to everyone. He even pays his former float (and Kiburi’s) visits sometimes to catch up. Even Kiburi enjoys his company
May or may not be hard to believe, but Makuu and Kiburi used to be pretty close, especially when they were little. They were inseparable, telling each other everything and sparring with one another. It wasn’t until adulthood when Kiburi realized Makuu was always one-upping him in every way and it made him feel second-rate. And no one wants to feel second-rate. Pretty soon, he managed to get some obsession for beating Makuu…just once. He wants to be better at Makuu at one thing. It’s all he ever wants
Some crocs are more prone to showing emotion than others and Kiburi is the toughest one to crack. Super rare seeing Kiburi show any emotion other than annoyance, but it’s possible when you really get to know him
He’ll never say it out loud, but Makuu lowkey thinks about the past often. He sometimes misses the simpler times when he was young and didn’t have to worry about being a leader or having some of his float go with his now rival. Now he has no choice but to look forward. A lot of animals change. He did, maybe the other crocs would too…maybe he and Kiburi could even be friends again
Kiburi actually cares deeply about his float, since he considers them his true friends for sticking by his side. Being…well…himself, he hides it well and claims he’s indifferent towards them. Just know when he says that, he’s straight up LYING
Crocodiles know how to sing, a lot of them just choose not to unless it’s for special occasions like Kupatana. Kiburi has never sang in his life, but boy can he rap. If crocodiles or anyone else in the animal kingdom did rap battles, Kiburi would win every single one of them. He is THAT good.
Vultures:
Mzingo and his parliament have been friends with Shenzi’s clan for ages, which is why Shenzi trusted him to raise Janja and the other hyenas when they were cubs. And Mzingo did just that
He’s never had to deal with kids before, so wasn’t the best parent. But goddam did he try his absolute best
Mwoga is totally in a relationship with the harrier hawk, Mpishi and everyone else lowkey makes fun of him for it
Being the most sane, the vultures are usually the ones who have to witness everyone else’s antics. They’re always greeted with a “Morning!”
Like Mzingo would catch the hyenas having a dance party for no reason then Janja locks eyes with Mzingo and is like “….Uh…morning, Mzingo!”
Yes, that’s a Bluey reference
Jackals:
They might be/have been menaces to other animals, but they’re the African version of the Heeler family from Bluey. Super wholesome, super adorable, and whenever you see them, you’re like “awwwww”
Dogo is a mama’s boy. There, I said it
GoiGoi is like Bandit with his pups. He’s very committed to his role when he’s pretending to be the prey during training…when he isn’t sleeping
Sometimes, GoiGoi talks in his sleep and the subject is always about Reirei…it gets really awkward really fast
Dogo and his siblings annoy the living hell out of everyone by asking too many questions that refuse to let you sleep at night…or questions that are too..personal for them to get a straight answer (ex: “why don’t you have a mate?”)
They’re surprisingly very good friends with Tunu and Wema….except they can be bad influences
Reirei may be sassy, but she’s got the warmth of 1,000 suns to her friends. She’ll always be there when you need her
Kenge:
Oh boy, here it goes…
So since female monitor lizards lay 8-50 eggs, I’mma say Kenge had a LOT of older siblings and they all had to care for each other until each of them could fend for themselves. Kenge happened to be the runt of his sibs. The last one to hatch and the smallest of all his brothers and sisters
Kenge was NOTHING like the hateful lizard he is now. He was a doormat, a sweetie, he genuinely smiled, he wanted to make friends. Unfortunately, that just made everyone see him as weak
Being the youngest and smallest, he was often picked on by all of them. Pushed around, had his tail stepped on, called a butt load of horrible nicknames regarding his size, you name it. And it wasn’t just his family, it was every other animal he met! They all just talked down to him and always referred to Kenge as “the little lizard” instead of using his real name. And he hated it each time they used it
He met Ushari at a young age and they’ve been best friends ever since…Kenge’s only friend, actually. Ushari was really the only one who understood him (being constantly disrespected his entire life) and the entire reason why Kenge finally stood up to himself. Kenge misses him so much
Thanks to Ushari, Kenge decided it was time to stop all the intense bullying when he grew up a little. His bully this time was a young leopard (maybe a young Mapigano or one of Makucha’s friends idk). The leopard had purposefully stepped on his tail saying “Watch it, little lizard!”. That was the breaking point. Kenge bared his teeth and bit the big cat on the leg, hard. Everyone else who was laughing wasn’t laughing anymore. Kenge demands the leopard and everyone there call him a big lizard from now on or else…and it worked! Word spread out pretty quickly not to mess with the monitor and everyone finally left him alone! He had to admit, he kinda likes being feared by the other animals. There’s something so satisfying about it. He obviously didn’t really expect everyone to be scared of him, but whatever works ig
His siblings finally started respecting him, but he went off on his own cuz he doesn’t want any more of their toxicity. The eldest told him that he can’t survive by himself when he’s that young, but he managed so take that!
Kenge usually doesn’t like making friends. He doesn’t want to get attached just so he could get stabbed in the back by animals talking shit about him. It’s happened before. Having said that, he’s managed to befriend the skinks and Sumu. Since he stays in the Outlands, he started talking to them and found them to be surprisingly chill (Yes, even Sumu). Now he’s super protective towards them and would absolutely go mental if you try to hurt them. He’s not losing his friends again
He co-exists with the other animals in the Outlands. As long as no one bothers him, he’s respectful towards you
Post all the events in TLG, he’s doing a lot better. He’s become a tad more open minded and has even become a little nicer to animals who are nice to him. He’s starting to get more in touch with his younger self. Not a doormat, obviously, and he still hates being called little…but he smiles a lot more now and is less hateful of everyone. And he knows that Ushari’s looking out for him in the afterlife

Coming up with at least one headcanon for some minor characters in TLG cuz I’m bored
Pua:
Tumblr media
You know how I hc that Pua used to be just like Makuu? He was actually 10x worse. Waaaay more cold hearted and disrespectful than Makku was. He didn’t even give animals a warning that they were in his territory, he just attacked
He spent his whole life fighting, which is why he has the best technique of all the crocodiles. It’s also why he easily won the mashidano against the crocodile leader before him
He redeemed around the time when Mufasa was king, specifically during Kupatana. Like Simba with Makuu, Mufasa decided to give Pua a chance since he was the new leader of the crocs at the time. But unlike everyone else, he took the time to bond with Pua, able to understand where his opinions were coming from while teaching him how important the circle of life really is. Through his royal friend, Pua eventually saw the error of his ways and promised to better himself from now on
This song is 100% him and his redemption during Kupatana
He was totally the dad figure in Makuu’s life. Kiburi’s too. All the crocs in Makuu and Kiburi’s float, honestly
Come to think of it, he was a father to basically all the reptiles in the pride lands. Always the guy you’d go to for advice
Makuu used to look up to him as a hatchling and he knew it. Used to rub it it everyone’s face back then, but he’s since chilled out as all the hatchlings grew up. He won’t lie, he still misses those days. Being Makuu’s idol kept him motivated to be a good leader and role model
He honestly wasn’t surprised when Kiburi started a mutiny. Kiburi has always been really independent and had different views than his fellow crocs. Even then, he never saw it as a bad thing. He doesn’t even think Kiburi’s a bad croc, he just made a bad decision….a REALLY bad decision. He blames the dry season (and later Scar ofc). It brings out the worst in animals, especially reptiles
Speaking of Kiburi, he visits him in the Outlands just as much as he visits Makuu. And ya’ll, when I say Kiburi actually smiles whenever he sees the old croc, I mean it. It’s not his usual semi-amused smirk, it’s a genuine smile cuz literally everyone else sucks compared to him. And not only that, but Pua tells Kiburi not what he wants to hear, but what he needs to hear: “You don’t need to compare yourself to anyone else, because you are a good leader in your own way. Nobody can take that away from you”
Tamka:
Tumblr media
Because the wiki says he’s basically the crocodile version of Chungu, I’m gonna go ahead and say they’re close friends
I learned that crocodiles like to give each other piggyback rides for fun and Tamka does that very thing to the rest of his float. He did it when they were all kids, he still does it now. He doesn’t even stop at crocodiles, he’ll gladly do it to everyone else in the Outlands. He loves it
He can’t ride on other crocs though cuz of how big he is. He could when he was little, but not today
He’s always been the biggest croc, even as a hatchling. So big, he basically did a barrel roll out of his egg
Maaaaay or may not be related to Pua (they look very similar)
Nduli:
Tumblr media
He’s the youngest out of the entire float (both Makuu’s and Kiburi’s)
Because he’s the youngest, Kiburi has made a promise to protect Nduli at all costs since he knows Nduli looks up to him (and he kept following him everywhere lmao). He’s kind of a big brother to him
He’s pretty close with Cheezi and they love hanging out together. Cheezi’s trying to teach Nduli how to stick his tongue out (nobody told either of them crocodiles can’t do it)
No headcanon here. Just an eepy Nduli :3
Tumblr media
Badili:
Tumblr media
Okay first off, can I just say what a cinnamon roll he is? He’s freaking adorable and I wish he came back cuz they made every single other leopard a villain. Like, he should’ve helped the Guard at SOME point!
Is friends with pretty much everybody in the Backlands and no other animal would dare pick on him cuz he’s a big sweetie. You mess with him, you mess with the entire Backlands (unless you’re another leopard but Mapigano doesn’t bother him anymore so it’s okay)
His goal in life is to befriend one of every animal in Africa, which is exactly why everyone likes him
Dahabu:
Tumblr media
Has met pretty much all the other leaders in the pride lands during her visits and they absolutely adore her. Even Makuu doesn’t really mind her company
Thurston tries to hit on her but she keeps friendzoning him (girl please, you’re too good for him)
General headcanon:
Talking to your dead relatives isn’t just a lion thing. Other animals can do it too with their own species, they just don’t know it yet
Even Ushari can make himself known to other snakes if he wants to (which he does), but other animals can’t see him

Since @spinnysocks ever so kindly asked me about the depth I have given the crocodiles, I now present to you:
Crocodile lore:
Pua:
So I’ve repeatedly mentioned Pua was a bigger menace than Makuu when he was a villain, that is not new information. What IS new, is how he came to be like that in the first place
He probably had a hard life as a hatchling, being raised by strict parents who taught him about the crocodile way. It’s the only thing he had to care about. Nothing else. Not even the Circle of Life. He’s seen animals come and go even at a young age and it wasn’t pretty
I hc that a lot of crocodiles don’t really respect the circle of life. There were a few that did, but most didn’t when Pua was little.
His attitude and bad decisions as a new crocodile leader is what made him lose a lot of members in his float. Back then, he was sure they were the problem, but nowadays he knows he was at fault. This is the main reason why he pretty much knew Makuu would change for the better. He even gives Kiburi advice on how to not to push your loved ones away. Because he’s been there. He knows how it feels and much like Ushari, he doesn’t want anyone to go through the same thing he did
He had a mate at one point and she was perhaps the kindest crocodile he had ever met. He loved her more than life itself and he did everything he could to keep her happy. Then Scar took over and one bad decision during those times made him lose her forever
He’s very thankful for where he is now after the mashidano. Got a nice watering hole next to a tree where he gets everything he needs. He likes to think his loss is karma for how he was before Mufasa reformed him. It isn’t much, but it’s enough for him and he’s happy
Separate hc, but I can imagine him singing lullabies to Makuu, Kiburi, and the other hatchlings, especially after the two lost their parents. Like him softly singing “Mockingbird” to them when everyone’s asleep. He may not be related to all of them, but he loves each and every one of them as his own
Kiburi:
I swear, his father’s death had just about EVERYTHING to do with who he is now
Kiburi made a promise to his dad, claiming that he’s gonna be the best, strongest, bravest crocodile in the Pride Lands. Whatever happens, Piga’s gonna be so proud of him, just like his parents wanted him to be
Makuu always used to beat Kiburi when they sparred as hatchlings. To be honest, Kiburi never really cared as much. But as he grew up and the more he trained, the more he realized Makuu was always better than him at EVERYTHING. So much so, he had enough living in his best friend’s shadow and started pushing Makuu away so he can train to beat him someday…which ultimately strained their friendship. The Dry Season was just the final straw.
He’s pretty hard on himself whenever he loses nowadays. He’d never show it to another soul, but he’s internally beating himself up by thinking Piga would be disappointed in him, which is the last thing he wanted
Tamka:
So I’mma go out on a limb here and say that Tamka and Pua ARE biologically related. I’m thinking Tamka is Pua’s son
It is literally impossible for everyone to comprehend how the hell Tamka came from Pua. The wisest crocodile in Africa has the dumbest son to ever exist
He wants everyone to see him for more than just his stupidity. Yeah, he’s an idiot, he knows that. But it isn’t his entire personality. He can do good stuff when he wants to! He’s loyal to Kiburi and is a great friend to Nduli and Chungu, why doesn’t anyone see that?? He’s wants everyone to know that he’s still a big sweetheart. Is that too much to ask?
Did you know he likes acting? It was after the events of “The Little Guy”, where he saw Hodari’s reaction when he pretended to be defeated and was like “Hey, I’m pretty good at this!” So now when there’s an opportunity for a distraction, he’s like “Ooh! Ooh! I got an idea! Trust me on this, it’s TOTALLY gonna work!” (It does not work, one way or another but he’s trying)
He and Pua still talk. Their relationship is rightfully strained due to the past, but Pua still loves his son unconditionally and knows he is still capable of change
Nduli:
Like I said before, Nduli looks up to Kiburi as a big brother. It’s been like that ever since they were little. His other siblings didn’t really pay any attention to him, with him being the runt of the litter. But Kiburi? Well, there must have been something about him cuz Nduli just started following Kiburi everywhere and refused to leave him alone. Kiburi eventually gave up and let him tag along. Kiburi honestly didn’t think they’d ever become close, but now they have the closest bond two crocs could have. They’re basically family
Despite their sibling-like relationship, Nduli’s starting to worry that he and his leader/brother figure are drifting apart. With Kiburi’s responsibilities as a leader, he doesn’t have time to hang out with Nduli like they used to. Nduli knows this, but it still hurts, you know?
Believe it or not, he’s got quite a few negative thoughts and emotions on his mind, but he doesn’t wanna cause anyone stress so he chooses to keep it in. Doesn’t help that he’s in denial about it, too. I like to think his optimism, while genuine, is sort of a mask to cover up all the negativity.
He’s also the most sensitive out of all the Outlanders and while usually frowned upon by crocs, he’ll still cry
Based on his lines in “The Zebra Mastermind”, I’mma go ahead and say he’s sassy. Probably got it from his mom and it always makes Kiburi smile
He would eventually let everything out when Kiburi refuses to listen to everyone during some situation where they’re all lost or trapped or something. After he loses his temper and insults his float, Nduli decides enough is enough and immediately calls Kiburi out on everything: how he doesn’t like Kiburi’s attitude recently, how he’s distancing himself, how he’s so hard on everyone including himself, how everything that happened the day they were banished to the Outlands was his fault, and most importantly, “Why do you always have to push everyone away when they’re just tryin’ to be there for you?!”. And that certainly got Kiburi thinking cuz that shit hit like a truck.
Kiburi does eventually muster up all his decency to apologize and at least try to be a little more understanding, so that’s good! And the two absolutely rekindle the fire cuz this float is the only family they have.
Neema:
Honestly, the only depth I have for him is that he probably has a secret life when he isn’t hanging out with his float. I dunno what it is, but it exists lol
