before anything, I gotta explain he was born to parents who had an infatuation quirk (makes them hardcore fall in love with you) and an infection quirk (transmits a virus via saliva)  

developed his quirk late, since they usually get it by the time kids are four 

most people knew him as quirkless before the first incident 

in middle school, his class was preparing for a school play, he and his classmate got cast as the main lead prince and princess 

coincidentally, they both had a crush on each other and had a scene where they kissed

technically they weren’t supposed to, since its just a play, but one time they were practicing in private and wanted to try kissing “for real”

so they shared a super giggly cute middle school first kiss but well UNFORTUNATELY FOR HIM HIS QUIRK HAD WELL DEVELOPED– 

BADABING BADABOOM YOU HAVE AN IMAGINATION USE IT

the only way for the quirk’s effects to go away is to come at least once or pleasuring yourself until it goes away

I DO NOT WANT TO IMAGINE IT BUT. IMAGINE BEING A TEACHER AND FINDING A MIDDLE SCHOOLER WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING TO HER AND AN ADULT IS FORCED TO TELL HER HOW TO MAKE IT GO AWAY LLLLIKE–

rip now that I’m thinking abt it, I don’t even think anybody would even kNOW HOW TO MAKE IT GO AWAY so lets imagine she painfully stays that way until they figure out how to make it stop :^(

there’s a big fight that happens between the teachers, principal, and parents of both parties 

of course the crush’s parents got mad and called their kid a fuckin uhhhhh sexual predator or some shit despite also beING THE SAME AGE AND NOT EVEN KNOWING ABT HIS OWN QUIRK LIKE HELLLO

obviously an incident like this is going to spread like wildfire but the principal does not want something like this to leak, especially since it was not on purpose and was a total accident 

the other kid’s parents and some teachers did not feel comfortable however, and sato was forced to drop out

but not wanting to spread the gossip about their son’s quirk and the incident, they leave the town and move someplace else

thankfully, the principal gives the sato family his good grades and a recommendation to a decent highschool for the trouble

they’re originally from osaka, but moved to tokyo 

this is where they start taking precautions with sato, basically teaching him to be careful with his saliva 

it was easily taught and learned esp since the mom was already like that around him and others everyday anyway!! she has to take care of her saliva-based infection quirk, after all 

HIGH SCHOOL

he got enrolled into a regular highschool in tokyo

no hero course, no support course, no business, just a regular ol’ school

if before, he loved surrounding himself with people, this was where he was forced to develop a lonely disposition to protect himself and others

at least his parents were very protective and supportive of him and they were generally a happy family!

but in school, pretending to be quirkless was just as difficult, getting bullied or pitied for having no special abilities 

his excuse for wearing a mask all the time was because his mother had a virus-related quirk, and had to be careful 

one day his dad was suddenly got really, really sick

the more he had an excuse to wear a mask because he didnt want to get whatever disease his father started to develop 

sato started thinking it could be his mother (but why?) the results didn’t say anything about an unknown virus killing him (which is his mom’s quirk), and that his father really did contract a strong yet very normal disease 

while on his second year in highschool, his father, yozo sato, died 

apparently, without him knowing anything about his parents, his mother, oba sato, was actually under the dad’s infatuation quirk this whole time

she realised she wasn’t really in love with him when oba had accidentally allowed a drop of her saliva to fall into the meal she was making him, making him sick, and therefore making him weak enough to deactivate his quirk on her 

oba, back in her college years, wanted to marry someone else but yozo, who had a crush on her wanted her to himself, used his quirk to make him fall in love with her 

so in revenge for making her put up with him all these years to the point of marriage and having a kid, she continued to do this to his food 

her quirk doesn’t make anybody sick enough to die, but it made her husband’s immune system weak enough to the point that it contracted a real, serious disease which he ended up dying from instead 

sato only finds out the real story when he graduates from highschool, days right after his graduation the mom confesses it all 

she does say she truly loves him, but can’t stay around him knowing he was technically “unconsensual love”

sato gets reminded of what his quirk does, and true enough, that’s what him and his quirk turned out to be (a sick combination of his mom and his dad) 

they cant bear to be around each other after that revelation and decide to just not see each other again 

COLLEGE YEARS

he enrolls into an education course, inspired by the kind principal who helped him finish his middleschool-highschool education when it all started going downhill 

sato struggles paying for his college fees esp since he doesn’t exactly have his parents supporting him anymore, nor any contact with immediate family 

he has a lot of part time jobs that go all around the clock, he continues pretending to be quirkless so he gets bullied, and has to deal with all that emotional baggage plus being alone so…….clearly my man is TIRED as hell 

his side job hustles include: convenience store cashier, bookstore attendant, bar bouncer, and rookie gym trainer (he went to the local gym long enough for him to get recommended a job as a trainer)

college was that point where he starts developing a hardcore yearning for a companion because oh my god hes so lonELY (but cant)

ANYWAY SO

there’s this bully guy who always picks on him in college (for being “quirkless” and a loner and overall a fuckin weirdo with a mask)

tbh sato doesnt really give a shit he’s so used to it but he doesnt have his mother as an excuse to wear the mask anymore, this is where he starts forming the “I have bad breath” excuse 

“口臭い” (kuchi kusai) translates to “bad breath” or “stinky mouth” so sato unlovingly gets nicknamed “kusato”

one day he’s walking around the campus at night and finds the bully with his gang cornering another quirkless student, with plans of assaulting her 

sato was never the hero type, and was about to ignore the commotion as to not get involved, but something in him moved on its own and he found himself face to face with the gang 

he confronts them, but the bully mocks both him and the girl for not having powers to stop them anyway 

SIKE BITCH sato’s able to easily strike the other two guys, knock them off their feet enough to be able to tug the to-be victim aside, telling her to report them, before asking her to run away as fast as she can

none of the guys want that (they’re all students) so they have a full on brawl (and this isnt hero academy, its a totally normal university so I wouldn’t assume these guys had very impressive quirks)

except the main bully actually has a pretty decent quirk (he’s like a kinda half human half dragon with sharp claws, scales, and dragon eyes) and gets to injure sato with his sharp claws, seriously injuring his face

a part of his ear is also sort of sliced off, which is how his mask gets accidentally removed in the process 

the dragon bully grabs him by the collar and starts angrily shouting at him for ruining his night, being able to do all this shit without a quirk and all and all other derogatory speech 

“Well? what do you have to say for yourself?!“ 

Sato stays silent before spitting right into the bully’s mouth 

The bully drops him immediately, about to angrily fuck him up for doing something super fucking gross but WHOOP WHOOP YOU KNOW WHATS BOUTTA HAPPEN the quirk works immediately and the bully is a TOTAL MESS on the ground 

Im going to TLDR this part cos its…obviously nsfw but like: sato fully embarrasses him in public (beside the bully’s two colleges nonetheless) 

sato stays in the hospital for some time to heal from his wounds 

fortunately, afterwards, the bullies all get expelled 

unfortunately for sato, he also gets expelled for engaging in bad behaviour, and the bully did say what happened to him (and the college principal did not want his…dangerous quirk on campus) so as to lower any incident, all four were expelled 

at least without having to pay for college fees anymore, he could fully focus on paying for food, shelter, and clothes 

minus of course the hospital bills needed to pay plus he got a sick ass scar from it anyway HAHAHAHA BSDJHJRHDHF

ADULT LIFE

he had a lot of jobs here and there, but was more or less doing best as a trainer at a local gym where people weren’t allowed to use their quirks and strengthen their body regularly 

a few years went by and he eventually shrugged off everything that happened in his final college years but one day someone familiar walked into the gym! It was the fellow college student he saved!!!

she became a policewoman who wanted to get stronger in this quirkless friendly gym and hadn’t given up on her dreams of being a “hero,” inspired by how sato saved her that day

sato never really saw himself as some hero, he was left many nights alone thinking about how easily he could become a villain with his quirk, so hearing that really made him happy 

he trains her as her gym coach and she eventually asks him to join her patrol this small part of the city from a gang that was currently going around doing crimes since he’s good at it anyway, saying she could use some extra hands hehe

so yeah!! he does this side gig with her where he patrols alongside her looking for gang crimes and such c:

AND ONE DAY. [WISTFUL SIGH] ONE DAY. HE FINDS SOMEBODY GETTING MUGGED BY A GANG MEMBER AND SAVES………A CERTAIN MAN–

28th: yellow (mission) i fully expect sung to fail this mission. he can b smart but he’d probably get stressed with the challenge and would rather spend his time looking at the animals for a long time. maybe someone who also fails is looking for transport and they put their heads tgt to find something? or earlier on, your competitive muse helps sung get some of the animals up until he gets distracted

30th: blue (relaxation) free! mani! pedi! sung takes good enough care of his skin but he wants to be Pretty and get Painted (and proceed to try not to b insecure as hell abt it) maybe your muse encourages him into getting painted, or offers ideas on what to paint, or has general chitchat with him during the session, or meal afterwards

adventure time season 7 part 1 review

we finished the king of ooo arc!!!!!! all the way to the end of stakes!!!

anyway as u can tell from my excitement we had a blast. i think this is one of the most emotionally sincere parts of adventure time, and many of the episodes made me laugh far more than i ever did during season 6, so theyve very welcome. yeah, some eps at the start of season 7 are lacking laughs or visual cues due to lazy storyboarding, but there are plenty of excellent parts to make good for it... and the finale totally gripped me.

 lets go through the episodes and try to describe what i found exciting:

Bonnie and Neddy - theres just something really touching about this episode. seeing finn and jake in those armored suits is a little silly but good setbuilding for the king of monarchy the king of ooo is trying to run, and transitioning from finns description about the brilliance of the water to the king of ooo making a scam of it, pretty damn funny. but what was better was the backstory presented in this episode... bonnie descends from the mother gum into a new world full of promise and life, destiny child that she is, whereas neddy experiences terror and overstimulation. and seeing her just... worry about him, get sad when he didnt recognise her but protect him w the song and bring him home, man i loved it

Varmints - i dont think we ever got a bubbline episode THIS expressive before or since, not even in stakes. the humor was SO ON POINT that i was rolling on the ground while the emotional trains of thought the chars were going through was presented so well, there was no ambiguity that wasnt deliberately placed. king of ooo in the costumes was a nice chuckle and also set in place that peebles as a princess had waaaay more power than whatever the “king of ooo” was before to the extent he sees her clothes as symbols of that strength.  i swear hes literally named that by his parents. anyway shes in the denial/bargaining stage of grief and falls into the depression stage after her hat is stolen and she remembers everything she lost, also i love this ep cos they were so EXPRESSIVE. probably the best pb ep...ever? at least until season 8′s jelly beans have power. emotion is something deeply missing from stakes, which ill get into in a moment. 

the other three eps - i wanted 2 make a paragraph for each of the other three eps but they didnt stand out enough... HOWEVER, over time ive come to enjoy the strangely domestic nature of Dirt Beer Guy a lot more, also i like Mama Said for being a sweet lil Canyon ep that goes into what finn and jake think of their new job... Football was the most standout of all, just something unsettling about seeing bmo argue with its own inner psyche i mean football. enjoyable, uncomfortable, cute. 

Stakes - what a heartfelt insight into the past of marceline, her history as a vampire and perspective on the present... lets talk a bit about the strengths and weaknesses of stakes. 

I felt that the miniseries handled Marceline’s past as a vampire hunter, as a young girl who had just been abandoned, and as a toddler with her mother.... it pulled at the heartstrings in a way AT rarely does. my favourite part of this backstory was marceline’s relationship with the bunny girl, who weve come to believe is finn’s ancestor.   

i also felt it was glorious folowup to the season 6 ending and a pretty good use of having all the characters without any responsibilities to the candy kingdom. they went on a vampire hunting adventure together which was sweet.

my favourite scenes of the actual miniseries were the ones that involved the vampires... ice king not being brainwashed was a funny twist that i saw coming immediately, and marceline’s vengeance on her felt real, as did her struggle the moon was intimidating as heck and finn and jake were so bad at taking her out. the heirophant’s transformations were really cool, thanks emily partridge for that, and the VAMPIRE KING? hooo boy. star of the show. everything he did was just so wackyzany and unpredictable, and yet so meditated that it feels like he may be the greatest thinker in the show. he reminds me of zaheer, talking to a frustrated korra. since marceline looks and acts like korra throughout this miniseries the comparison is strong.

as for other elements, my favourite parts were the ones where pb either did something goofy or morbid or fucked up the king of ooo. if looks could kill... “A MONARCHY IS NOT A DEMOCRACY!!!” BAM. so satisfying.  and all the candy people hugging her, and her lil breakdown over marcy while pepbut prepares the magic. PEPPERMINT BUTLER, this miniseries sealed my love for him which only grew after Jelly Beans Have Power in season 8. 

the funiest part of this miniseries were finn and jake, and the best episode was Checkmate. the fart speech scene got so many laughs out of me and then peeblles joined in and said it waS EMERGENCY TALK ONLY AND THEN THE VAMPIRE KING HOLDS HIS NOSE OUT OF STENCH and yeah for all the above reasons, the vampire king, the humor,  Checkmate is the best episode. All of Finn and Jake’s other scenes were also amazing. they were fucking useless in this miniseries which, apparently, is where their humor shines most. 

...which leads to my CRITICISM: a lack of expression and humor during key scenes. this is mostly related to marceline, but also to bubblegum esp at the start. there were many scenes that held the same angle for to long where they were talking about their feelings, but their faces werent changing, and it was just... visually uninteresting, didnt feel as expressive as it could have been, especially after the brilliant faces in Varmints. marceline is usually such an expressive character, seeing her standing still and rambling was so meh. which is why her flashback scenes - so full of character - are superior to any scene shes in within the present day. i mean, jesus, she literally says she feels love for pb in the most deadpan and blande way. peebles can get away with it, cos she has some KILLER faces later (that one at the king of ooo) and has always been relatively expressionless, also her actions speak volumes. marceline’s strongest expressions (in the present) were when she desperately tried to kill the Empress and the Vampire King, which makes them my favourite scenes for her. 

i think Everything Stays is the defining song of adventure time. It encapsulates our experience with the whole show; AT usually builds up dramatic plots, only to anticlimactically return to the “status quo”, but what we realise later is that everyone is still affected, everyone is still changing. the princess has her kingdom back, but she’s not going to take her position for granted anymore, and has averted from her dark path for now. ice king is still the ice king, but he’s now building up some friends and finding genuine happiness in the land of ooo. finn lost his father again and got his arm back (for the time being), but he feels way less burdened by his emotions that he used to, far more grown. and the same goes for marceline... even though shes a vampire again, shes no longer as burdened by her past. she’s come to terms with it. 

even though the characters return back to normal at the end of stakes, islands, elements, the things they have gone through will remain with them and shape who they become. in recent times? we have been seeing the effects of Elements on the characters of Ooo. how far they’ve been affected we are yet to see, and im excited to find out.

Day 17 - Universal & Islands

TLDR: Universal & Islands for the last time to catch up of rides we'd missed including ET & The Mummy. We also hit some rides for a second & even third time, but just the ones we really liked. Hit the cinema once the parks were done to see Despicable Me, which was amazing. One last ride before we left. then headed to Wonderworks to spend the rest of our evening.

So our last day at Universal and Islands today, and although weve done the parks a few times now, we wanted to get one last look before our holiday comes to an end on Friday and we return to reality. Today we were going the opposite way from last time, starting with Universal ang getting in some of the rides we'd missed then taking the Hogwarts Express to Islands then and finishing up with a few rides there. As we kept missing the opportunity to see Despicable Me 3 in the cinema (and we did really want to see it here), we pre-booked tickets at Citywalk for an afternoon showing, when we should be finished or just about with the parks.

So, Universal. Right as we entered the park and before we got on any rides, we seen the Mystery Machine and more importantly Doc Brown's Delorean, with Doc Brown ready and waiting for a photo op. We couldn't let that one go by so just had to take a quick photo with him before he sent us on our way and said he would 'See us in the future'. Chortle.

Be Gooood!

We then kicked off with a nice wee classic - ET. A great family ride where you go back with ET to his home planet and try to save his family and friends. They all loved it especially when ET called out their names at the end. And with all of us feeling quite good Patrick’s goes and lays down his fact of the day:

ET was originally meant to be a horror movie.

Hmmm, I dunno I mean he looks creepy enough already don’t you think, or is that just me? :P

Patrick, Robert & I then went on to ride The Mummy. Patrick's not one for roller coasters but I convinced him to join us as he'd been on this one before. It was more scary that an actual roller coaster and had some pretty convincing scares in it. The boys loved it and Patrick realised he was worrying about nothing (hopefully that will keep until The Hulk later on).

You're a wizard, Patrick.

The last area of Universal for us approached, Diagon Alley. We were going to go on Escape From Gringotts but the wait time was too long to comfortably allow us to make the remaining rides and get to the cinema so we gave it a pass. Patrick had expressed an interest in getting Robes (like from Hogwarts), and after being in a few notable shops including Borgin & Burkes & the Weasley brothers shop - Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes we went  into the shop which sells the school attire. He got fitted for his Robe and picked up a Prefect badge (which I shamefully laughed at a little), and he was one happy, if now penniless little boy. The Robe was amazing quality and he was asked if he wanted to wear it around the park (which people actually do) though in the kinds of heat we had today it would be volunteering for torture.

Train from Platform 9 3/4 over to Hogsmeade next. The train station had all sorts of cool effects and props and the ride from one park to another is different the opposite way so we were looking forward to doing this trip for the first time this trip. Off the train we then headed to a family favourite (for the 3rd time), Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey. Grace's first time she was hesitant but if we could, I bet she do this one all day long if we let her now. Great to get one final try of this awesome attraction. Patrick also popped up with a bonus Fun Fact which I need to cinlude as its quite a quirky one:

JK Rowling put the Potions room in the Dungeon of Hogwarts because chemistry was her least favourite subject at school.

Before we left Hogsmeade, we headed to the Hogs Head to get a round of Butterbeers (we'll you just have to, right?). First time we'd been in the bar and it was a lot quieter that the queues outside so that's a wee tip we'll need to remember. And Butterbeers in hand, we headed off over the bridge and into Jurassic Park land. Goodbye Harry Potter, until next time! :)

Its soooo FLUFFY!!!

One of the last things we really had to get ticked off today was to do Reign of King Kong again. This new ride, open recently has high wait times but the ride is awesome. And it appears it has a number of alternate experiences attached to it, which made doing it again for a second time all the more worth it. Time was running but we managed to squeeze in the amazing Spiderman just before heading off to the cinema. I did see Rogue and Storm from the X-Men for a photo op after the ride, which I really wanted but we needed some time to get to the Cinema so just couldn't do it :( It was just as well though as the grey clouds rolled in and it started raining just as we were getting into the Cinema (Citywalk between the two parks also houses a huge cinema, which was idea for us today). We grabbed some snacks and went into the very quiet screen playing Despicable Me 3. No spoilers here, just to say the movie was really funny and just more of the same from Gru, Lucy, the girls and the Minions. We all loved it and glad we made the decision to go see it.

Before we left the parks for good, there was one last ride that Robert wanted to have another shot at - The Hulk! We hopped back into the park (with the rain now nowhere to be seen), and me and Ro (but unfortunately no Patrick) headed to the huge green roller coaster at the front of the park. Its a great ride and probably one of the best roller coasters I’ve been on, so I was pleased to get another shot at it. And so was Robert, his wee face was beaming from ear to ear. Picked up copious amounts of chocolate frogs from the gift shop (for gifts, not me) before we headed off to the car. Universal & Islands: DONE!

Now it was still relatively early in the evening and one thing Grace hadn't shut up about since we arrived was Wonderworks or The Upside Down house as she (and probably everyone else), calls it. It was right across from our hotel, so dropped off the car, got a quick change of clothes and walked down. Wonderworks is a big house (upside down, of course), with multiple levels filled with fascinating games, inventions and challenges - a mini science center if you’d like. Outside was a guy holding a parrot and another guy holding a baby alligator, and as cool as birds are (of the flying variety ;), the alligator won and got our full attention. To my surprise all of them wanted to hold it, which they were allowed to, and as we let Patrick do this years ago, we though it would be good to get another photo several years on.

As we were paying for admission into Wonderworks, Ann was asked for ID. She didnt really carry any or had done this whole holiday so we didn't know what to do. She was asked again if she had any form of identification, and was told even her Facebook profile picture would do - to which we both laughed at (Ill need to try that the next time Im in town and I’m asked for ID, LOL). Once we were through the gates, there were all manner of things to keep them occupied including laser beams, a bubble lab, basketball and football, reaction tests, photo ops and lots of other games and brain teasers to keep them entertained. They had a bed of nails, which Robert & I tried which really wasn't all that bad, though Grace was controlling mine and she can have a dark and twisted mind at times. The had an astronaut training simulator and a 360 roller coaster simulator and Patrick went on both without issues (which was crazy as he had been adamant he wasn't riding any coasters esp ones that had loops). We all go to experience a 4DX film (which was Graces favourite from last time), this time it was fast ride over the Great Wall of China which was a little different to before but was still fairly enjoyable. We also all played a game of laser tag and as its a shooting game and I’m not competitive in any way, I kept the scores :P

Brilliant way to round off the day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed something a little bit slower paced. Home and in bed, for tomorrows second trip to Animal Kingdom!!!
