Hi! I just saw you talking about Palworld and AI, so I did some digging about it, and I think you'll be happy to know Palworld does NOT use generative AI, or they would legally have to disclose it on the steam page. The creator previously remarked on generative AI and made a small game using generative AI that seems to be mostly ironic, but they haven't used AI in their creature designs or anything, like a lot of people are saying.
Granted, the fact the creator looked into it at all is meh, but I also feel like someone looking at something that has become such a big hit (because regardless of feelings on it, generative AI is very popular right now) is a little more understandable than actually using it, tbh. Not meant as a discourse ask or anything, just thought you'd like to know that Palworld doesn't use AI in their game :]
OH NO DW I KNEW THAT . Ive been saying that they HAVENT used AI for the game itself, and that even if we dont/didnt know 100% if they used AI for the design process (something they dont have to disclose if its a part of early designing stages as far as steam is concerned) itd still be bad to insist that nintendo take action just for design similarities. Every pokemon fangame or even pokemon inspired game has clear ripoffs of pre existing pokemon or digimon- even unintentionally, theres only so many animal puns to turn into creatures you can use before things start to look the same- so saying that they should get sued is... Like. Bad for everyone else ever.
If people dont want to play it bc of AI, they can just do so under the pretense of the devs supporting generative AI models, which is the reason i personally dont want to support the game . I really dont understand why people have to throw in guesses (palworld using AI in the design process) or outright lies (their previous games being plagiarized) in the ring.
