very interesting how the ending of kingdom of heaven / battle of hattin / surrender of jerusalem is perceived by the fandom by my perspective as a muslim.
the surrender of jerusalem is perceived as a tragedy because christians lost strength in what they believe to be their holy land. meanwhile i and most other muslims see saladin capturing jerusalem as liberation — especially because saladin unlike the crusaders took the city peacefully afterwards and the palestinian christians were allowed to stay and freely worship.
i think kingdom of heaven does decently in portraying the emotion that is felt (not all historically accurate and western bias) but there is the bitter sweetness that saladin brings peace to the city while the christian crusaders are given passage out.
