oh man it's funny this question is asked around the same time as spotify unwrapped trending... pudding.cool released that AI last year that judges how bad your music taste is, and my results were "all drama no genre" for both this year and the last 😭 my music taste is so varied, it can literally go from 1 unrelated genre to the next without warning. from kpop, to 70s disco, metal, vocaloid, 90s alt rock, eurobeat, new wave. I use youtube more bc not all of the music I like is on spotify.

in terms of videos though - like if I get tired of music, I'll just click on whatever's available on my youtube feed or go through my subscriptions. some good channels I really like are Tasting History (historical recipes), Townsends (historical recipes n reenactment!!), The Sphere Hunter (video essays on games esp Resident Evil n horror games). I've also really liked anime video essays lately - The Anime Tea, MelonTeee (I got into one piece this year so I watched a lot of op stuff from them...)

will kpop ever debut more maturer aged idols? I know jyp has an older group in their 50s? i think, but id love to see more millenials debut in kpop its like the cut off age nowadays is less than 20 years old, sadly, i do still like some of the groups but im no going to personally obsess over each and every one of these groups esp if they have so many minors in its just too weird and no im not a guy but its still weird asf that literal kids are so desired to debut. id have thought if there were more mature aged groups itd be quite appealling to older generation kpop fans. theyd have more experience at dealing with varying critiques and whatnot compared to younger groups. maybe its the element of naivity or purity that kpop still goes after. its just a shame bc its saying ppl my age arent young enough to do something as cool as kpop

can you then do a reading on if kpop had been from an older generation like the 80s for example would it still have been popular without the reliance of the internet? or would it have gained some level of recognition in olden times? i think it wouldve had more chance to have real variation if it had been from another era

I doubt it will be more common for the industry to debut adults (19 and up year-olds?). If it happens, they'll be most likely foreigners (still asians but non-korean or mixed), but again, it will be rare occurance.

If the 1st generation exists in the present, the popularity will be similar to the 2nd generation of this genre. I doubt it can be as relevant as now, possibly because the vibe will be completely different. (Note: If i got your 2nd question wrong, I am sorry)
