Every time I see a Hephaestus x Aphrodite book or fanfiction and read the summary my mind goes “neither of them would say or think that you are just saying shit” and realize that like a lot of couples, their complicated relationship is shoved into tropes and stereotypes they don’t belong in and the characters are so different from their mythological counterparts they might as well be original characters.
Menelaus and Helen actually embody the dynamic that Aphrodite and Hephaestus shippers wish Aphrodite and Hephaestus had.
