ynleclerc 2022-2023 was one hell of a ride.

This past year has been a never ending whirlwind of challenges and triumphs. From the devastating ACL tear and the subsequent surgery that threatened my fencing career to the grueling recovery process that tested my limits, it has been a journey of resilience, determination, and unwavering support. After six months of rehabilitation, I am beyond thrilled to share that I have received medical clearance to return to competitive sports.

However, that’s not all. I have been keeping this secret for a while now, one that I have cherished and guarded closely, even from my family. Today, I am proud to announce that I am switching my fencing nationality from Italy to Monaco. This decision has been a deeply personal and emotional one, driven by my love to Monaco, my home, and the desire to represent Monaco on the global stage.

I owe a debt of gratitude to my former team for shaping me into the athlete I am today. Now, as I embark on this new chapter representing Monaco, I carry with me the lessons and memories that have defined my journey so far.

OFFICIALLY QUALIFIED FOR THE PARIS OLYMPICS 🇲🇨🥹❤️

Qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics is another check in my list, and representing Monaco makes it even more special. This journey has been long. Series of heartbreaks and tears, some milestones…but whatever happens, I am happy and thankful to be where I am right now and meet such wonderful people around the world.

To my family. Maman, Lorenzo, Charles, and Arthur, thank you for never giving up on me and my dreams. For sticking with me through thick and thin, especially during the challenging times after my ACL tear and surgery, I know that I was unbearable that that time, crying 24/7 because I kept on thinking that it might be the end of my career, but your love and encouragement has been my strength. To my medical team, thank you for pushing me in getting back on my feet and giving me chance to chase my dreams once again.

Remember when you first picked up a fencing foil, nearly took out the living room lamp and maman getting angry 😂 all of us knew that you are destined for greatness right then and there (or at least destined to break a lot of household items). Fast forward to today, screaming your heart out in victory, making us all incredibly proud!

I pick up these “escrimeuses” whenever I can but they are very tough to find and I’ve never seen a fencing girl on a photo album before! 

The black and white dress with that feminine red heart on the breast is 100% my vibes.

Sometimes I like to take men’s historical fashion and give it to cute girls who will will take up their swords and go on daring adventures.

They also have faithful animal companions. This girl stole her pants from a sixteenth-century Englishman. Her bodice comes from an nineteenth-century escrimeuse whose entire outfit, honestly, is kind of awesome.

I don’t know much about these two escrimeuses, not even their names. I’m pretty sure they’re rivals though.

The woman in this picture is actress Anna Held. According to the Jewish Women's Archive, "Anna Held was a performer with a flamboyant reputation for bathing in milk and champagne. However, we can say that she was a common-law wife to Florenz Ziegfield, and...

The photograph is copying the pose of another actress, Marguerita Sylvia, as painted by Jean Beraud in Paris. From The Historical Fencer, "Florenz Ziegfeld one of the most influential producers of Broadway musicals at the turn of the century, purchased copies of this costume in Paris during the Paris Exposition of 1900 for his actresses to wear in various shows."

Beraud actually painted a series of female fencer images, of Marguerita and a few others. Thanks to Ziegfield and Held, as well as yet another actress, Blanche Mercredy, who recreated the image, it became a recognizable meme.

I found a French blog which has collected a great number of the images following after the painting & the photographs.

The Digital Transgender Archive also has a few photos of Bothwell Browne as "Miss Jack" that obviously come from the same cultural lineage.

Anyway, a delightful rabbit hole and I think I have my next Halloween costume figured out.

For some reason I thought of the phrase “Gibson Girls with swords” and I did an image search and I was not disappointed. (via)

REPORTAGE. Paris 2024 : "Je prendrais bien celui-ci, avec vue sur la Seine"... On a visité le village des athlètes avec les escrimeuses Pauline Ranvier et Charlotte Lembach

A 500 jours du début des JO de Paris 2024, la construction du village olympique se poursuit dans les temps. Les deux escrimeuses ont eu la chance de le visiter en avant-première.

Après la découverte sur la famille Agreste, la fin de l'année est passée à une allure incroyable à mes yeux. Chlo, Dami et moi passons le brevet des collèges avec quelques options en plus.

Quelques semaines plus tard nous recevons les résultats et sans surprise nous l'avons eue haut la main avec les félicitations. Nous avons eu les meilleures notes de toute notre promotion. Nous le récupérons quelques semaines plus tard au collège Françoise Dupont. Et j'en avais définitivement fini avec Paris et ma classe, du moins c'est ce que je pensais sur le coup. Les retrouvailles seront dans quelques années.

Nous sommes sur le vol pour retourner à Gotham. Et je préparais mon inscription pour l'année prochaine à la Gotham Academy pour être avec mon frère. Ce dernier m'a aidé à me mettre à jour sur le programme américain. Le programme français et américain sont complètement différentes malgré quelques similitudes.J'étais acceptée. Il y avait plusieurs raisons suite à l'acceptation. La première mon excellent bulletin, la deuxième je suis une ancienne élève de la Gotham Academy et toute ma famille est allé et la troisième et dernière raison est que mon père finance régulièrement l'école.

Pour Chloé, elle est partie avec sa mère à New York, pour les vacances. Je sais que Chlo intégre un lycée professionnel dans le management, la  finance et la législation à la rentrée en France.

Luka rejoint son père pour une tournée à l'international. Il fera toutes ses premières parties. Bien entendu pour la tournée, je m'étais occupé de leur costume.

Et au moment de leur concert à Gotham, j'irai les voirKagami est partie avec Luka pour la tournée. Grâce à mon aide, nous avons réussi à convaincre sa mère de la laisser partir lui disant que voyager dans le monde allait développer de nouvelles compétences à Kagami et cela lui sera favorable plus tard comme l'adaptabilité et apprendre en un temps-record différentes langues. Et en plus cela lui permettra aussi de voir d'autre style de combat et que certains mouvements pourront être utile dans ses combats d'escrime.

Ce qui était aussi en notre faveur le week-end d'avant la demande, elle a remporté la compétition réunissant les meilleurs escrimeurs et les meilleures escrimeuses du pays.

Les deux vont suivre à distance leur cours pour leur dernière année de lycée.

Damian, toujours fidèle à lui-même. Même s'il s'était un peu réchauffé et n'essaie plus de tuer tout le monde à tout bout de champ, il reste toujours froid.

Et moi, je continue mes commissions et depuis ma révélation, j'ai eu de nombreux nouveaux clients. J'avais refait un costume pour tous les méchants et tous les héros. Cela m'a pris du temps, qu final j'y suis arrivée. Leur ancien costume était trop affreux pour moi. J'ai rajouté une petite protection. Tous les costumes sont faits avec un tissu pour la protection des balles, j'ai plus fait ça pour mes deux familles de Gotham et Arrow.

J'avais plus que trois ans pour me déclarer à Jon.

À la fin de nos année lycée. J'ouvrirai ma première boutique de MDC à Gotham. Et Chlo son cabinet d'avocats. Et elle sera en charge de tous les contrats et s'assurer qu'ils sont en règle et que personne n'essaye de me doubler.

Je devais juste travailler dur et bien gérer l'école et mes commissions. J'ai trois ans à tenir pour faire ensuite ce que j'aime à plein temps. Peu de temps après notre arrivée, j'ai demandés si je pouvais aller voir les méchants, il a accepté à la condition qu'un membre de la famille m'accompagne. Les deux qui se sont porté volontaires pour m'accompagne sont Dick et Damian sous leur masque.Avec moi j'ai pris leur nouveau costume.Je rentre dans le club, toute heureuse.

- Mari ! J'entends tout le monde crier.

- Hey les gars je suis de retour ! Et je compte rester dans les parages. J'ai refait aussi vos costumes car vos anciens sont dépassés et c'était une horreur à mes yeux ! Et merci à ceux qui ont respecté l'accord après mon départ ! Je donne à tout le monde leur costumes. Ils sont tous heureux. J'avais plus qu'à aller voir le Joker qui est enfermé à Arkham.
