D. Thiem fought hard and well, especially when the moments were in his favor, but L. Darderi became more offensive since then as he went after the former's shots at times. Through his return depth and some pace-related adjustments, the Italian shifted the moment steadily, which also helped him nailing the tie-breaker before dominating the second set with his power. On the other hand, this marked the end of Dominic Thiem's illustrious career.
