#mad about the boy: the noel coward story#mad about the boy: the noel coward story (2023)#mad about the boy#2023filmgifs#my gifs#watched yesterday at the cinema#and only remembered today that i needed to make gifs#ergo scavenging the trailer#until the full thing hits the streams#i loved this entirely#it was exactly what i wanted it to be#thoughtful respectful celebratory#and not shying away from his failures and his missteps#i got so emotional like two-thirds through#so happy for him to get the full recognition he deserved#for the war efforts as well as his art#he was knighted on my birthday#ten years before i was born but still#no you don't realise how important noel coward is to me#as a writer and a queer person#even if he was a screwy Sagittarian#but i love him anyway#can you tell i loved the home movie footage the best?#and got such a thrill at the glimpse of Leslie Howard#all tousled and beautiful#coming out of the past so alive and lovely#poor Noel how devastated he was#never forget that diary entry and his anguish#tw: epilepsy#epilepsy warning
