the way brainwashed was worse peach and sooh is a worse amalgamation of like sfy/powerless/telephone and they both have Some salvageable traits. im begging awsten to build a time machine to just ask past him what current him is lacking here. idk im just, the chorus gives us so much and the rest ??? on top of concepts we have explored well past their time. ik there’s only so much to write about esp when pulling from your own experiences but if he cant be outright about his bisexuality enough to really pull the heart strings (shoutout to closer which is probably the realest and most Different thing weve had since like fuzzy) then im bored with these love songs.

i agree whenever i like whenever hear a current parx song that's like almost on the mark to being good until he pulls out the crappy lyrics, i think back to interviews from this era where he mentions purposefully generalizing lyrics for the sake of his emotions performing them; the lyrics have transformed from mainly a way of getting his feelings out to mainly being for the sake of accessibility.

meaning awsten is purposefully holding back the height of his lyricism for his own sake but everything he says in pursuing that goal sounds as shallow and meant for tiktok sounds in the same way half the mddn roster that already does that without holding back.

i guess you could argue that duh of course the lyrics are meant for performance it's part of a song, but i feel like he approaches lyrics in a methodical way that puts how he thinks the public perceives it first rather than his feelings.

as for whether he realizes he writes about the same 4 things (love/obsession, mental illness, hating the music industry, sex/obsession) half the time with a different emphasis on any of those for different releases, i have no clue. i think he thinks that he's grown and changed as a person which can be true to some extent but when half your songs circle around the same things and come to the same conclusions i'm quite doubtful of him sometimes - iz

i’m trying not to get my hopes up too high. funeral grey sounds kinda better than i expected it to. i definitely get the pop punk/summer vibe i want from them. but awsten also has a history of the first single being one that’s easy to swallow if that makes sense? like sfy, blonde, wwhn, lah, those are all pretty fun, easy, “good” songs off the albums and yet… those last two albums… hmmm….. so i’m not getting my hopes up too high for the actual album yet but if this really is the summer pop punk revival 🥺🥺🥺

When/how did you first get into exo and kpop in general?

ahh how i got into kpop.... around summer 2015 i think it was either through tumblr or vine i know both made a contribution but i don't remember which one came first svgdyeh. the first groups i got into were shinee and b*s.. shinee more so bc i was learning japanese at the time and their japanese albums kinda eased me to the idea of liking/listening to kpop since i was strongly refusing to do it bc my friend was a kboo (🤢)

then they came out with mttm (song of the decade) and i was gone...

at the time the only song of exo's that i listened was love me right! i didn't really start listening to their music until like... late 2015 i think! but i wasn't actually like around for sfy era i just kinda casually listened to them.. and a couple of months before ex'act i started actually getting into them! and junmyeon was my first exo bias! (since then i switched to sehun and then chanyeol and now I'm back to my roots...)

Exodus would take the cake!! SM did a really great job hyping us up with all those teasers and all those pathcode shits and I clearly remember not wanting to sleep at all because WHAT IF I MISS ONE TEASER?? WHAT IF IT IS BAEK’S?? So just the entirety of that era was so so thrilling that when the actually dropped the album, it felt like finding a new religion!! Every song is the best song in the album I swear I screamed every time I played the next track. It certainly did not disappoint I’m still screaming ;;

2:Favorite title song?

It’s actually MAMA. I know I wasn’t in the fandom yet when they released this but I really get chills whenever this song plays on my playlist ;; and I scream when they perform it on concerts too THE METAL VERSION JESUS CHRIST I AM NOT ALIVE HOLY FFFFFFt I just really love MAMA so much. 

3:Best Era?

That would be Call Me Baby Era for me. After what happened with the Overdose era I felt like CMB was exo’s statement of their rebirth. That theyre stronger now and that yes they’ve been through so much but they will still fight. I don’t know that era just held so much meaning for me and from then on, the boys have become much more comfortable and much more confident about themselves and their music so it makes me proud to see them grow every passing day.

Because they gave me happiness when I thought happiness was no where to be found. They gave me smiles when I thought smiling was only for those who deserves to smile.
