#ep 4 pun unintended

Hi there! I hope you don't mind me asking but I wonder if you'd be able to make a gif for me of I Saw You in My Dream? No worries if not, I appreciate it takes a lot of time and effort... But if you could, it's the shot of the three pairs of shoes walking into frame in ep 4 from about 5:07 to 5:12 - from the moment the yellow sole of the first foot is seen to the moment the last foot of the third pair of feet is in shot (it turns into a side shot). If possible I'd love all the footage (pun unintended!) in one gif and at a slower speed...but I don't know what that would take so maybe it's not possible. I hope that's all understandable. And like I said, if you can't or don't want to then I understand. I thought it didn't hurt to ask! I hope you have a wonderful day 🥰

Adding the side shot of the shoes brings the gif size to way over 9.5MB and that's when tumblr starts eating into the quality. I tried fiddling with the gif dimensions and speed but that didn't change much but here's a lower quality version (lossy my beloathed 🤣) if you want the whole shot:

I was rewatching the drama, and I've noticed when Wei Wuxian wakes up from a dream in ep. 27 and he screams "Shijie!" in Burial Mounds, then suddenly Wen Qing appears to offer him food.

This makes me think Jiang Cheng's old fear to be replaced, in this case the Jiang Siblings replaced with the Wen Siblings. When Jiang Cheng says to Wei Wuxian in ep. 30 "if you return to them, you are not be able to see us, your close companions, for a very long while" and Wei Wuxian replies with: "but the peope I'm returning to are my close companions too" and Jiang Cheng is not very happy to listen this xD

I don't really think Wei Wuxian replaced intentionally the Jiang Siblings with the Wen Siblings, because it would be

disrespectful to the first ones and WWX never stopped to love them, but I noticed parallels with Wen Qing being the big sister and Wen Ning being the little brother with him. What do you think?

Okay, first of all, galaxy brain take, I'd NEVER thought about this ep. 27 moment. I'm so used to food being a love language in general and for WWX in particular that I didn't think of it at all!

I always want to be very careful in seeing family parallels in CQL because the family structures we meet are all very... uniform? Of the 5 major sects, 4 have a set of two siblings (assuming WWX doesn't count as a sibling, which he technically doesn't), and the one exception still has JZX and JGY, which sort of fit the pattern (ignoring MXY because he never becomes a Jin.) (But there's something to be said about JYL and WQ being the only sisters the major sects have.)

One thing that makes me go feral is that (for CQL-verse, anyway) you have strong-willed, loyal JC and WQ, and gentle, vaguely chronically ill JYL and WN. It's a bit of a flip in the script, but it's still pretty familiar territory for WWX. We even get the parallel of JYL and WN standing up for WWX (in that hunt and the core reveal) and JC and WQ sacrificing themselves for him (the Wen capture and the Jin surrender, which now that I'm typing out are. A Parallel.)

Now, I don't think WWX is particularly seeking Family 2.0, but I think yeah, having A Big Sister And A Little Brother is easy and comfortable for him, and it's easy to fall into familiar dynamics (pun unintended but appreciated.) But the key point here is that I'm like 99% sure Family 2.0 is how JC reads the situation. Which is really ironic? When they're younger, JC does What Must Be Done while WWX does What He Wants In His Heart, but this time WWX is actually doing What Must Be Done and I feel like JC might be interpreting it as doing What He Wants In His Heart. But that's not something I've thought about much so I should probably pay attention to it on my next rewatch and get back to you.
