The fear Yennefer must've feel when she saw that Tissaia called out Alzur's thunder. You can see it when they first saw how the clouds came...
What I just realised is that she knew that it was Tissaia. Whether that's because she knows Tissaia's the only one powerful enough to do it, or because she can sense that it's Tissaia's magic, it's still cool.
Also, @ehay captured this moment beautifully.

I think after 3x06 we all know who Tissaia's favorite is. Because we all know what would've happened if it would've been Yennefer who got shot instead of Triss. I know Tissaia was shocked because of Vilgefuck and everything but I still think it was a little bit odd when we got literally NO reaction of her when Triss got shot. And I refuse to believe we would have gotten the same reaction if it had been Yennefer.
Because Tissaia searched for days in season 2 to find any clues that she survived the battle. So what would've probably happened if Yennefer would've been there? The possibilities are endless but there outcomes aren't. Because almost no one would survive if they harmed even one hair of Yennefer. And I know Cahir would just run if he had saw them side by side because he remembers the last time when Tissaia was protective and worried about Yennefer. So OF COURSE the showrunners didn't let Yen be in Arteuza when the battle started. Because the fight would've been over before it already started because Tissaia wouldn't let anyone even touch Yennefer. And not forgetting Yennefer. She burned once an entire army for Tissaia. She would do things like that again (without risking her chaos that much).
And now we also have the awnser why they didn't end up together. Because they would've been the absolute power couple.
The lack of reaction to Triss being SHOT WITH AN ARROW directly in front of her is terrifying.
It really would have been interesting to see her if it had been Yennefer, as you say.

Am I the only one who was a little sad that we didn't saw Yennefer really fighting in the last episodes? I mean I really LOVE that running scene when she was on her way to Tissaia (girl literally ran through fire for her) after she goes back to Aretuza. But I I would've really liked it to saw her using her powers. Especially after Sodden where she burned half of nilfgaards army and still protects Tissaia. I also kinda hoped and begged to see her using fire magic again but they never talked about that again
I can only answer this personally (as in, me, @thegirl20) and I don't think I felt short-changed in terms of Yennefer's magic. We know what Yen can do - we've seen it. She can also seemingly heal wounds that baffle both Triss and the Brokilon forest waters. We're in no doubt of Yennefer's powers.
I will say that, in general, I have always been a little bit annoyed that we don't really know what the 'rules' of magic are, other than that there's a give and take and that not controlling it has consequences.
So, where I felt short-changed in this episode is that I finally got to see Tissaia do some proper big magic. She called Alzur's thunder. Ciri referred to it as a spell of last resort. It looked impressive. It sapped Tissaia's chaos and turned her hair white. But the main characters who had to survive the scene did so fairly easily. Francesca threw up a magical shield which withstood Tissaia's magic with seemingly no effort. Whereas when Tissaia threw up a shield in her 'You won't take Aretuza' moment, the archers shot dimeritium arrows through it without any problem. We had been told in that same episode that Tissaia was the 'most powerful of mages' but I really don't think that was apparent.
If Yen could burn half an army to death in 1.08, I wanted Tissaia's magic to be even bigger, more destructive, genuinely awesome.
And it kinda wasn't. And that makes me sad. That we saw Tissaia not only duped by Vilgefortz, but overpowered fairly easily by mages who shouldn't have been able to come close to her level. And yes, you could explain it away this way or that way, but I'm afraid you will not convince me that I saw the most powerful of mages put up a convincing fight.
Yen's fire magic in the season 1 finale was awe-inspiring - and it worked. Not only did she slow down the army, she did so while keeping Tissaia safe. I feel like Tissaia should have been allowed a big moment like that and I don't think she got it.

Oh my god! Listen. Imagine the scene right after Yennefer got to Tissaia in 3x06. Aretuza is burning down and falling apart and Tissaia is still to weak to carry herself. And somewhere when they're still in the building Tissaia stops going. Because she was ready to die in that moment. Of course Yen would never leave without her and they have a little fight and in the end Tissaia said it's okay if she dies there and obviously Yennefer is totally against it and tells her that she can't live without her. And then Tissaia sais something like "Yes you can. You've done it before. You can do it again." And Yennefer reveals to her that that's not true and answers with "But I never did! Because despite everything that happened between us, you were always there. I always had you to lay on if I wanted to. I knew there was a place where i could go. You where always there when I needed you the most. Even if I didn't want you, you where always there! So what let you think that I could be able to live without you?!" She started crying bur that doesn't stoped her from her pep talk. "You didn't give up on me when tried to give up. So don't think that I will give up on you now."
And then they left the building ad the gay couple they are not and lived happily ever after.

That first gif from the big gifset about them both in season 3. Look at Yen's lips trembling while she's tearing up. Both Anya and Myanna were amazing this season. Amazing acting.
Absolutely. Another masterclass.
