So many! Most recently I had a bit of dialogue that didn’t fit what I was doing where Katniss and Peeta were fake dating and at competing Christmas market booths (how very Romeo and Juliet of us! A bread by any other name would taste as sweet etc)

13. A fic or artwork by another creator that made you happy all of them haha but if I have to pick one I'll say Ghost Repeater by @bumblepony it is a gift to me so maybe I am biased but! it is such a fun and unique premise and reminds me of an old movie that was one of my favorites growing up

19. A new genre or style you tried idk if this counts but I had never attempted to draw tie dye before I did these for @marceltheshellwithflipflopson and it took... a while to get it into something I was happy with haha

Rec another creator's fic you wish more people would read Bleed to Love Her by @chronicallyonlinewriter is a wonderful fic about a canon AU where Tommy stays with the fireflies instead of leaving and finding Jackson and it's so well done, the setting/atmospheric description is always so vivid and delicious and then the portrayal of Tommy's emotional state and struggle is equally well done. go read it, go read it right now you will not regret it

21 Something that made you emotional

Lordy. Caro. Reading the fic that you gifted me for my Secret Santa this year definitely comes up there - Our Endless Numbered Days, if you're reading this definitely go read this and its prequel.

Partially because you remembered how much I loved this little family and gave me more of them for Christmas - and more partially because of how much Joel tries to downplay his and Ezra's marriage - and how quickly Ezra contradicts him with the facts that yes, it kind of IS a big deal for two men to get married. And Tommy's acceptance. And Joel's memories of Tess. And Ezra's acceptance of Joel's past love. So. pretty much the whole thing.

There are so many! @chronicallyonlinewriter and @lauronk come to mind first. They are both incredibly talented writers who bring Joel to life with so much complexity and nuance it's actually insane. @ayeleye and @norththelemon for their consistently gorgeous artworks.

ooooh easy peasy! everything @sawymredfox has begun to post has been phenomenal and i can't wait to see how they develop their writing in the new year (if they so choose to continue writing and posting) as well as more from the amazing, sweet, prophetic @macfrog

5. a scene you enjoyed creating

def the face reveal in {of beskar and kyber}!! a lot went into making it be as special and intimate as it turned out to be, the characters needed to develop so much for it to happen and i'm proud of making it into exactly what i envisioned

21. something that made you emotional

the sheer genuine outpouring of support from the community this year. it's not been an easy one, from losing my job, to needing help getting the meds that help me to be more able-bodied when my body is fighting me, to the love in the face of discourse over the last year. i feel like the online relationships and friendships have just flourished into something so beautiful this year and it's been a good full on being a part of this fandom (cause i only started writing and posting early in 2023)

2. Album of the year?

I Love You, I'm Trying by Grandson

Most of this year has been a struggle with my adhd as a result of going through a lot of big changes and this album is about struggling with mental health but trying anyways so I connected with it a lot. Also I saw grandson for the tour of this album and he got out into the crowd to sing Heather and I nearly cried so yeah

4. Movie of the year?

Bottoms 😌. The other two big movies I watched this year were across the spider verse and Barbie and they didnt really do it for me

18. A memorable meal this year?

After my graduation we had dinner at this restaurant that does sharing plates and all the dishes are fairly inspired by Mediterranean food and that was very good and also the celebration of it was fun.

One of things we had were these green beans with chraimeh and sunflower seeds and I'm going to be thinking about those beans for the rest of my life.

25. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one

Yeah I started drawing again and I made my guys 🥰

1. Describe your journey this year in three words?

Not to rip off @slimybeth69 but — i. am. tired.

If I had to pick three original words then it would be: creating. for. myself. It took me more than half the year to kind of grasp this idea, but creating has been much more enjoyable now that I’m playing by my rules.

14. Something new you tried this year?

I’m actually kind of new to writing! I used to write a lot for the Spider-Man/Avengers fandom many moons ago and then life (multiple degrees lol) got in the way. I started writing a Joel Miller x Reader last summer that never saw the light of day, but some kind friends & mutuals encouraged me to try again and now I’m slowly making my way back into it. I’ve been looking for a non-judgemental creative outlet for awhile (if one exists, good grief) and so far writing stories has been really lovely.

In terms of my writing, I’m trying to push myself to be more descriptive! I want to move away from constant dialogue and focus more on how to further the plot while discussing the characters feelings and thoughts— that’s the real meat and potatoes that folks are interested in. I am also making a big effort to improve and expand my vocabulary! I have my thesaurus and dictionary open while writing and am pushing myself to use stronger language in my writing.

15. An area of your art you feel you improved upon?

Oo this is a good one. I was really proud of my scenic descriptions in my Agent Whiskey one-shot that I posted the other day. I took my time to try and clearly articulate the image I had in mind and I feel like it transferred! I just wish that ability would come a little quicker, but practice makes perfect.

22. An idea you had that didn’t make the cut?

In that same Agent Whiskey one-shot, there was supposed to be a really graphic return from a mission where Jack was really unwell. Bruised and battered, but also emotionally not okay. Reader was going to patch him up and that fear was going to be the catalyst for Jack to leave Statesman. There was also supposed to be a sex scene but I couldn’t find the right transitions for it all, let alone within the context of this short story. Maybe in the next one!

honestly just the romance genre in general is very new to me! besides some... criminally bad rpg writing I used to do in my Youth... I've not ever written romance/anything romantic before. girl's an angst baby to the core, and usually any romantic/sexual relationships in my personal writing are extremely dysfunctional and/or doomed as fuck. but it's been so fun to write fluff :,)

UGH I had this little bit of a scene in my head for din - just a portion of a conversation - but I've not been able to come up with anywhere to put it (plus din is intimidating as fuck. I am not a star wars Knowledge Keeper) but MAYBE ONE DAY

Advice to yourself (and maybe others) for the new year it's so cliche but you really do have to write/create the things that YOU want and not the things that some imaginary critic in your head might want - the things I am most proud of and the ones that bring me the most joy to look back on are always always always the ones that start and end with me (consequently, those are the ones that seem to resonate the most with other people as well, because authenticity looks an awful lot like self indulgence 🩵)

Considering I have exactly two characters under my belt ;) I think it depends on what I'm after. If I want goofy, silly and lovable, it'll be Dieter. If i need comforting, supporting and protective no matter what, definitely Joel.

14 Something new you tried this year

Outside of writing fic, haha, I tried different forms of excercise to get back into an active lifestyle. Karate lasted only a few months but it was fun (until arthritis caught up with me), cycling was also short-lived (equipment issues), and most recently swimming. Hopefully swimming sticks around longer because it's something I love to do and am reasonably okay at doing. And it doesn't cause those nasty joint pain flare-ups.

19. A new genre or style you tried

Since I just started writing again this year (after never really writing that much lol), my whole writing style is something new I'm trying out and getting used to.

22. An idea you had that didn't make the cut

Didn't make the cut... YET. I have so many ideas and I never really give up on them. This year I finally wrote two ideas that I had a year ago or so. Or I simply talk @guiltyasdave dizzy until she incorporates some pieces of my ideas, hehehehe.

25. A scene or image that lives rent-free in your head

From my own writing: Dave linking his pinky with reader in the elevator and telling her she's so fucking beautiful (one of the ideas I had for over a year btw): kiss the bride

and from @toomanystoriessolittletime this six sentence fic with Javier Peña. Patching him up, all secretive and soft and ugh, it's just a perfect scene.

and @guiltyasdave wrote Dave with a knife: takes one to know one (🫠🫠🫠). And there's a moment when girlie struggles but she basically hears Dave's encouragement in her head because they have such a precious relationship and it's just perfect and everything I want in my life.

30. Advice to yourself (and maybe others) for the new year

Don't beat yourself up, ever. Even deleted words are progress. Just because an idea/wip doesn't spark dopamine now, it's not dead yet and might come back to you at a later time. And, for the love of christ, READ MORE! (The reading advice is just for me because I'm the worst reader out there. I'm having such a hard time reading but it's absolutely necessary for me personally to grow as a writer, especially writing in a language that's not my native one)

That would have to be Agent Whiskey.

I love Jack Daniels and have since I first saw Kingsman. This was pre-my Pedro Pascal obsession and the day that I connected those dots, I swear I saw God. I just find his charm endearing and while he is corrupt in the movie, he gives the impression of having a good heart. He clearly loved his wife and son and was devoted to them. In my little world, he was never swallowed by a meat grinder and lives the rest of his days off on a farm somewhere. This man would take care of his gal (me lol) and I need that peace in my life. He has me wrapped around his little finger, I’d definitely swipe right on him.
