Ooh! One of my more recent favorites to drive to isss "Not Strong Enough" by boygenius! the song is SO good and it just. i feel like it's been one i specifically queue when i'm driving recently.

Team rancher concept: they would not be comfortable sleeping together in one bed on the first night of dl. Not because 'oooo crush but he mustn't know' sort of thing. No. Tango it's because tango has trust issues. Tango isn't going to sleep defenseless with another person! What if he's betrayed again?

So they sleep separate. One of them on the floor with the blanket and one on the bed.

Eventually one of them--I'm going to say jimmy--gets cold enough it causes them both problems and they decide to share the bed to conserve body heat.

It is not cute and fluffy. Tango is so stressed and tense it's like sleeping next to a board. He hardly gets any sleep.

The next night he simply doesn't come to bed. Stays up mining all night despite Jimmy's complaints. Fun fact about sleeplessness: it does not improve paranoia.

When Jimmy finally manages to get the man to go to sleep Tango's dead on his feet. It is a little bit cute this time. Tango is sleeping like a rock. Jimmy is only restless because he's worried tango will wake up in the middle of the night and get himself hurt

The real pay off is when--after sleeping for a looong time--tango wakes up and has not been betrayed, and the following night, when he willingly climbs into bed and they fall asleep together.

thoughts and a look inside the design of the book under the cut!

okay so I've been sitting on this cover of @envelopedbyoblivion's The Highwayman for months. It's a rancher duo fic where Jimmy is a sheriff and Tango is a bandit (and so much more)! Go read it if you haven't it's so so good I promise

This was initially a passion project for my portfolio meant to be printed into a real book, but I couldn't keep up with deadlines and I ended up not being able to use it :(

However, the whole book is formatted for print (which took so many months oh my god). I'm hoping one day I can actually get it printed because it's one of my favorite fanfics of all time and I'd kill to have a physical copy.

I also got to work with them to create this whole thing. Formatting books is so much work and they were so nice and patient with me ;;; Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to do this and for creating this amazing story :] <3

if anyone is curious about my design choices I'd be more than willing to ramble about them. I spent way too long on everything from fonts to the page dividers

THE BLOOD MIRROR: The blood is encased in resin and preserved in the form of a reflective mirror that visitors can view themselves in, seeing their images in blood that could have been used to save lives but due to the FDA bans was wasted. Even now, there is still celibacy bans on queer donations and the Blood Mirror forces you to see your own life in the blood of the community that is not being used to better society by prejudice. NIGHTHAWKS: The feeling of loneliness and isolation in this piece just gets to me. You’re outside of the diner. You can’t get in. ("The Blood Mirror" is an installation piece made of glass and the blood of 59 queer men who donated to the project, organized by Jordan Eagles, a gay American artist. The piece was made in retaliation to the FDA ban against queer blood donors. It measures 84 x 28 x 28" (213 x 71 x 71 cm).

"Nighthawks" is an oil on canvas painting by American artist Edward Hopper. It measures 84.1 × 152.4 cm (33 1/8 × 60 in.) and is currently held at the Art Institute of Chicago.)

You're getting both my life series based ideas teehee

OKAY SO 1ST ONE - series 4. Well. IDK if I would play this as a game telling or if i would play it as a more like. STORY story ya feel. Anyway. The idea is Life series rules - everyone has 3 lives, red yellow and green. At the start of the series, however, someone becomes possessed by Sculk and its their goal to possess everyone else. Sculky boy can win by making everyone a member of the sculk network. You see where I'm going with this. Mumscarian, Grian is sculk possessed, and Mumbo and Scar go 'Hey. Hey. If we let him possess everyone then we don't have to kill each other.' and make it their mission to keep Grian green which leads to them both sacrificing two of their lives. So then youve got the dynamic of two red lives protecting a green from everyone else. And like, they can lay traps to possess people or drag them into the Sculk. THE OTHER THING is that I think this would start INSIDE the ancient city. So. You have that going on.

My SECOND life series based idea is the cowboy story I posted a long time ago at this point. This one is.......sort of???? based on 3rd life??????? vaguely. But the idea is simply - People have 3 lives, green yellow and red. What life their on shows in their eyes. And maybe there's also a mark on the skin or something idk, but it's. VERY subtle. Its not like bright yellow green or red its subtle. Hard to see, especially from a distance. Mumscarian are a team of bandits - Scar is a red life and Grian is a Green life, and the Mumbo is yellow.

So this is where things begin rapidly diverging from canon - the idea is Green and Yellow lives are. Vaguely welcome, but Red lives are hunted down and executed to protect others. Red lives have bloodlust in this bc i. love. red life bloodlust, fucking sue me. So they have a tendency to become murderers, bandits, criminals, anything. And they get hunted down - there are some safe havens for them, they have their own towns hidden in the world, but ya know. Its also not often a green or yellow life would knowingly associate with a red life - that marks them as traitors and if they get caught, all the rest of their lives are taken. Killing a green or yellow life, especially when you aren't a red life, is like. Capital B Bad.

So Mumscarian are Cowboy Bandits who use Mumbo and Grian to lure people into dangerous situations or their demises [yes. I am also thinking about the demise game from s6] because there's no way of knowing Mumbo and Grian ARE traitors unless you see their wanted posters. And this doesn't really have a plot I mostly used it as an excuse to write something after I finished The Highwayman by @ envelopedbyoblivion and was feeling VERY many cowboy thoughts bc that fic is INCREDIBLE and i fucking love westerns.
