i think risky venus has the best chereography from crazy:b surprisingly, like i think they actually knew what they were doing
i love seeing the little mistakes they do, it just makes it so real
if alkaloid just put a little bit of energy in their dances, i think they would be on par with EDEN, i think
like, they have good chereography, but they lack the energy. crazy:b have the energy but not necessarily the dances, they're not good in being in sync
hello!! the dream live i got the rinne clip from was this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UL_0I7J2jn4)

Love Letter - Prologue 2
Author: Umeda Chitose
Characters: Yuuta, Hinata
Translator: Mika Enstars
Proofer: Kirin
"I mean more than that, though. Weâre regarded as one of the strongest units now! Donât you want to show that off too?"
Season: Autumn
Location: Yumenosaki Academy Garden Terrace
Hinata: What for lunch today⊠Should we make our own food instead? What do you think, Yuuta-kun?
Yuuta: I already bought a meal ticket for the super spicy mapo curry! Topped with hot chilisâŠâȘ
Hinata: Bleh. Just hearing that made my mouth hurtâŠ
Iâll get a pork curry with grilled veggies, then.
âŠAnyways, isnât it shocking that there are doubts about holding Chocolat Fes?
Yuuta: Itâs insane how things happening in a country we donât even know is affecting our idol activities.
Hinata: Funny, it does make you think how the world is so connected~, huh. Welp, it really gives you a new perspective of thingsâŠ
So Chocolat Fes will either be held like it was before, or it will have to go under some changes.
Being the one of the strongest units, shall we consider which path weâll go with?
Yuuta: Yes, indeed. As one of the strongest units, asked personally by the student council. âȘ
Hinata: Itâs next year, thereâs still time left until then. Though, since we just heard about it, how about having a lilâ brainstorm over Chocolat Fes during our meal?
Yuuta: Even though nobody knows of the morrow, wonât the devils laugh?[1] Though I guess just thinking about it is fine. We can come up with some ideas as we talk.
Hinata: Okie~! âȘ Lemme go first, then.
Chocolat Fes is an event where you make the audience happy and deliver love from the idols, right?
Thatâs why I think the most important thing is to get as close as we can to those who came to the live shows, to reach their hearts. Thoughts?
Yuuta: To keep in line with the spirit of the event? I think itâs good, but doesnât that seem like something a newbie unit would be doing already?
Itâs their first participation in Chocolat Fes, theyâll stick to the general gist of the event without doing anything too bold.
Plus, Chocolat Fes is an event where even AKATSUKI does fanservice on the stage, any unit would just be following suit.
If possible, I wanna think of what only we can do. I want to think of something that can only be done by us, because only we can do it.
Hinata: Hmm⊠But even if we do something similar, donât you think weâll be able to give our performance our own unique oomph?
Yuuta: I mean more than that, though. Weâre regarded as one of the strongest units now! Donât you want to show that off too?
Like putting together a luxurious set, like Valkyrie does! Wowing the audience with a spectacular performance unprecedented in the history of Yumenosaki!
Hinata: âŠLetâs talk about somethinâ else real quick. The topic being, how to solve the sweets conundrum!
Yuuta: If itâs possible, I want to avoid using sweets other than chocolate as much as we can, otherwise Chocolat Fes will lose its flair.
The image of chocolate is so strong at this point, if we switch to another candy, itâll probably have a huge impact on the event⊠or something?
Hinata: Sure, weâll decide on something new, but⊠Chocolate is for Valentineâs Day! When you think of chocolate, you think of Valentineâs Day!
Yuuta: Honestly, wouldnât the easiest way to get chocolate supplied be to just disregard the relationship between Yumenosaki and the manufacturer?
Hinata: Maybe. Vice Prez has no connection at all with Yumenosaki, so if we ask him, we might be able to get some cacao supplied in secret through a different route.
But something like that would be a shameless way out. We canât, it wouldnât give a good impression to the rest of the studentsâŠ!
Yuuta: Man, but weâd just be procuring chocolate at the request of the student council. I want them to praise us, saying we did a good job~!
Hinata: âŠOh, how about preparing chocolate-scented cards? We could write letters on them as messages!
Delivering feelings to your fans is perfect for ChocoFesâŠâȘ
Yuuta: I see where youâre coming from, but isnât that a bit too pathetic? It seems no different than something a freshman would do.
I wanna do something more flashy, something the strongest unit in Yumenosaki would do!
Weâre the only unit enrolled in Yumenosaki thatâs also affiliated with CosPro, after allâŠ
I wonder if we could put our all into a pitch to the agency to get the Vice Prezâs cooperation and some extra funding?
Hinata: What would you wanna do with the agencyâs help and an increased budget, Yuuta-kun?
Yuuta: Well, umm⊠Uhh⊠So we could make a luxurious set, or something
Hinata: Yeah, you mentioned earlier about a luxurious set like Valkyrieâs. What else were you thinking?
Yuuta: Urggh⊠I still have to come up with a concrete idea of what I wanna do for the stage and set.
Hinata: So all your ideas are still as soft as marshmallows, huhâŠ
We canât seem to find anything we can agree on here, can we? I feel if we keep going, weâll just be stuck in a loop of not coming to a conclusionâŠ!
Yuuta: I feel so too. And our curry will get cold at this rateâŠ
Hinata: Then without further ado, letâs dig in! Thereâs still time until Chocolat Fes, who knows whatâll happen âtil then.
Weâll just have to keep our ideas in mind, and weâll talk about a plan as we find out more!
Youâre right. The fact we have differing opinions right now doesnât mean we canât eventually combine our individual thoughts together.
Hinata: Thatâs trueâŠ
Well, come to me if you run into any trouble with planning or getting approval from the Vice Prez! I think Iâm a bit more experienced with those sortsa things.
Yuuta: Yeah, yeah. As weâd expect from our ever-so-reliable unit leader.
âŠAlrighty, letâs switch gears and eat! Sorry to keep you waiting, my super spicy mapo curryâŠâȘ
Hinata: Me too! Time to dig in~, pork curry with grilled veggiesâŠâ

Referencing the saying âspeak of next year and the devils will laughâ; basically âspeak of next yearâs events when the next year comesâ. A similar English saying is âdonât count your chickens before they are hatchedâ, except on a year-by-year basis.

[1/2] Enstars: Bâs-Log February 2017
Released in December 2016.
Unit Song CD 2nd Series Vol.7: Valkyrie Cast Interview
Thank you Mike for your help with proofreading!
Song lyrics translations are up on wiki.
Hiroki Takahashi (VA of Shu Itsuki)
Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression on the songs when you first listened to them.
Takahashi: Before the recording, I had the opportunity to listen to other unitsâ songs. I was so surprised when I found such overwhelming difference in the atmosphere between Valkyrie and other units (laugh). Itâs operatic, making you wonder if a musical is starting. Itâs also something that would be performed at a concert hall rather than at a live house. I can see how this must be the leaderâs, Shuâs so-called âhighly dignified heartstrings.â
Q: Then how did the actual recording go?
Takahashi: While I sing, I think about how Bewitching Theater is a fiction that is created and completed within Shuâs outlook of the world, which is why itâs called a âtheaterâ. Iâd take great care of the logic that is present in the lyrics, and did it as if Iâm intoxicated in an action movie. Actually, the director gave me a lot of instructions about that sort of thing. âWith tenacity! Tenacity!â he said (laugh). Before the recording, I thought I had to sing more loudly, but turns out he meant more towards âbeing intoxicated.â As for Castle of Sand, Nazuna joined. However, if you ask me whether or not Nazuna is the focus, Iâd say he isnât. I came to the recording thinking itâs a song dedicated to Mademoiselle! (laugh) In Takahashiâs analysis, the part âlight is shiningâ inside the âglass eyesâ means âIf what resides within a doll isnât something that lasts virtually forever, but a finite soul instead, then I shall accept that!â I think itâs that kind of song!
Q: Please tell us the appeal of each song.
Takahashi: Iâve talked about Castle of Sand, so this time itâs Bewitching Theater (laugh). The lyrics in the chorus of this song follow a very proper logic, and I thought the repetition of keywords can deepen your experience. Although the parts âclockwork staircaseâ, âascending and descendingâ, and âafter endless searchingâ are changed at some point, I try to sing with strong feelings of how they may be going round and round, but as long as they donât give up in what they pursue, theyâll reach it. The making may be close to Western songs. For example with Michael Jacksonâs Bad, or the one from the movie Stand By Meâthey keep singing the same lyrics in the chorus. But thatâs why itâs memorable. Bewitching Theater is in Japanese, so it has different presentation, but it uses repetition of one phrase to make it more memorable. Which is why I felt thereâs a very proper logic behind it.
Q: Ensemble Stars has been extending its reach through appearances in various kinds of media. Could you promote the series to the readers who have not yet been exposed to it?
Takahashi: I think Valkyrie is a unit like The Drifters during the time they did Hachiji dayo! Zenin Shugo [1] (laugh). In that show, they performed a new program at the theater every week and it was broadcast live! The leader, Chosuke Ikariya-san was super strict. So strict with every detail and in just one week they made a script, built it up and remembered it⊠so I heard the members had it really rough. I think Valkyrie is that kind of unit! Valkyrieâs leader has high ideals and is pursuing them, and thereâs Mika-chan who would follow him. The young generation may find that difficult to comprehend, but thatâs the impression I got from my point of view. If you ask me, I suppose Iâd say Shu is a prodigy. Heâs diligent, dexterous, and is very aware of his position as a leader. Heâs a serious person, but heâs also haughty yet naĂŻve. This duality reminds you of an artist. Heâs a character with an extreme gap moe, I suppose. He canât talk well to someone he hasnât met before, but heâs aware that he needs to have communication skills, so heâll converse through a doll called Mademoiselle.
Q: Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the release!
Takahashi: The CD series is getting released, and I believe youâre looking forward to your favorite unitâs songs. But for all Valkyrie fans out there, thank you for waiting. The first Valkyrie unit songs are here. I think they are becoming something that wonât betray your expectations! I think youâll probably know everything about this unit called Valkyrie once you listen to both songs, so please wait for the release while holding up high expectations.

1. The Drifters, Japenese comedy group and also a rock and roll band. Their iconic show, âHachiji da yo! Zenin Shugoâ or âItâs 8 oâclock! Everyone Gather âRoundâ is a comedy variety show aired in 1969-1985 and it was very popular with kids.
Jun Oosuka (VA of Mika Kagehira)
Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression on the songs when you first listened to them.
Oosuka: Before I listened to the songs, Iâd heard the group ALI PROJECT-san was going to compose the song, so my first reaction was surprise, like, what!? (laugh). I think the world pictured in ALI PROJECT-sanâs song and Valkyrieâs outlook of the world match each other, but I felt pressured if Iâll be able to sing it. But, the song I received was so awesome⊠and I didnât want to lose to that and told myself to rise up to the challenge. As for Castle of Sand, a scene from the event Reminiscence*End of the Marionetteâs Strings came into mind. When I listened to it for the first time I cried for real! In my mind, Valkyrie sings Bewitching Theater for everyone, and as for Castle of Sand, Valkyrie members are singing with someone in mind. Whom theyâre thinking of may be different, but my interpretation is that there is a common point where there is someone theyâre thinking of while singing. With that in mind, I sang the song.
Q: Then how did the actual recording go?
Oosuka: In Bewitching Theater, there are these unique note suspensions. For example, in âkokui no ouâ it doesnât go âoâuââ but âoâuâââ [1], something like that. There are so many parts that made me go, âAah, so ALI PROJECT-san sings suspended notes like this!â But I also think itâs that way because itâs the original people, so I was also troubled with how I should express it. Oshi-sanâs (Shu Itsuki) voice actor, Hiroki-san, sang it first, so as Mika and as myself I sang while thinking, âIf Oshi-san interprets it like this, then Iâll follow,â and let Oshi-san take the lead. As for Castle of Sand, those who listen to Nazunaâs singing in Ra*bits may have mixed feelings. But on the other hand, Iâm looking forward to the fansâ reaction when they listen to the past Nazuna. I was also the last one to record this song, and when I listened to all three of them singing, I thought I wanted the three of us to sing together a bit more. It has a different flavor from the singing with the two of us only, I and Oshi-san. I also like how the three are different in their own way as well. I think the three in Valkyrie are able to express it so well that it wouldnât feel out of place to have this song played as background music in the story.
Q: Please tell us the appeal of each song.
Oosuka: My favorite is in Bewitching Theater, where Mika and Oshi-san are singing in turns: âTurn towards the eyes of the angel / who has cast God aside; / Yes â turn your eyes / towards me alone.â Supposedly, theyâre holding a performance as though theyâre telling the others, âLook at us and us only!â. Itâs very Valkyrie and I like it (laugh). As for Castle of Sand, it would be the final chorus. There are parts where I overlap it with the story in Reminiscence*End of the Marionetteâs Strings, and thereâs this image in my mind: in a corner of the crafts clubroom, or perhaps in the place where Oshi-san and Mika live, Mado-nee is left there alone, and the days would pass... that kind of image. Also, by far I think this is the first time I gave so much thought into how I should control my breath. If my singing is a bit breathy, I thought it would fit the tone in the lyrics well. I hope those who listen will be able to tell where Iâve put my efforts in (laugh). This also applies to me, but Mika is a boy who wouldnât make much difference whether or not heâs there. Weâre alike in the way weâre extremely lacking in confidence! (laugh) If weâre told to do a thing, weâll be desperate and do our best to complete that task. To Mika it would be, âOshi-san says so.â To me it would be, âIf Oshi-san says so, Mika will have to sing like so.â While singing, there were a lot of exchanges like that in my mind.
Q: Ensemble Stars has been extending its reach through appearances in various kinds of media. Could you promote the series to the readers who have not yet been exposed to it?
Oosuka: There are all kinds of units in Ensemble Stars!, but Valkyrie would be a unit where the relationship between the characters, Shu Itsuki and Mika Kagehira, and that between the cast, Hiroki Takahashi and Jun Oosuka, are similar. Actually, in the event where I got to work together with Hiroki-san, I was also following Hiroki-sanâs flow (laugh). In the future, when there is another event or something, I wonder if the audience will be able to see Oshi-san and Mika-kun in the way I follow Hiroki Takahashiâs flow? Actually, the height differences between the characters and between us are pretty much the same, so itâll overlap even visually (laugh). Putting it in a good way, Mika-kun is honest. Putting it in a bad way, heâs a foolish boy. But I guess the fans love that kind of fluffy part of his. To me, he feels like a handful younger brother.
Q: Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the release!
Oosuka: Itâs been half a year since Valkyrieâs first appearance, and finally weâre able to deliver their songs to you! For many times in the game it has been said that âMika-kun is good at singing,â so to Oosuka the pressure he felt was really great⊠But Iâll leave the judgment to all of you listeners (laugh). Please enjoy listening to them! If an opportunity comes by where weâll be able to sing in front of you all, I intend to sing with all I have, so please support Valkyrie and Mika Kagehira! And Oshi-san! And Hiroki Takahashi!! Please and thank you!

1. The arrows - I kept the original symbols here⊠I reckon they indicate note bends/intervals. â means straight notes, while â means the notes go lower then lower.
Yuki Yonai (VA of Nazuna Nito)
Q: Firstly, please tell us about your impression when you first listened to Castle of Sand.
Yonai: I was happy when I was told I got to participate, but on the other hand, since Iâm aware of the story, I knew Iâd have to produce a clear voice that Shu would fall for, not the singing of Nazuna Nito from Ra*bits. When I realized that, I was at loss for what to doâŠ! (laugh) Iâm sure the fans are also wondering, but I was also thinking really hard about what kind of role Nazuna is shouldering, and how I should convey it. I think the music is really wonderful. Itâs an atmosphere that Ra*bits definitely doesnât have, and you can tell immediately from the music that itâs Valkyrie. It reminds you of the event Reminiscence*End of the Marionetteâs Strings, doesnât it? Around the final chorus, I sang while thinking âThe three are going to go separate ways, huhâŠâ
Q: Then how did the actual recording go?
Yonai: I was very committed into my singing. Iâve given the song a good listen and sung the higher octave as well, but I donât know how itâll be accepted. This may sound abstract, but I gave myself a challenge, âthrough singing, how well can I express the role of Valkyrie Nazuna?â It was difficult. But the actual story says things like how he sings at a higher register than he does in Ra*bits, and how his voice is clear. When I was thinking based on that, I also thought, âif I sing in my usual tone, itâll just sound as if Nazuna is singing a bit more smoothly.â When I did that, I think the higher octave came out just fine⊠thatâs how I practiced. Whether itâll be used or not⊠please have a listen (laugh). Other than that, I was wondering about how much a child can project a high-pitched singing, so I watched a movie called Boychoir. In my research, I thought about how Nazunaâs voice must be close to this.
Q: Please tell us the appeal of Castle of Sand.
Yonai: The chorus is impactful, after all. For example, âThe time falls away, like sand.â Valkyrieâs outlook of the world is squeezed into the chorus. Youâll be able to tell itâs Valkyrieâs song just by listening to the chorus. Itâs also where the three of them are singing together, so I think itâs when every member is able to convey their own feeling.
Q: Please tell us about your impression on Valkyrie Nazuna.
Yonai: I had a vague feeling that he still had a story to tell, and after reading Reminiscence*End of the Marionetteâs Strings, I didnât think it would be this deep. For example conflicts he dealt with, or how he acknowledged there is present because people are able to overcome those conflicts⊠He experienced a lot of things in that story, and I see thatâs what heâs carried on to the current Ra*bits. In my own way, I have been working with all my might to act as Ra*bits Nazuna, but when I think about the past Nazuna, I thought about how I have to face Nazuna head-on even more properly. Valkyrie Nazuna worked hard while keeping everything inside, or rather, often he didnât show how he felt on the surface. So in this song I tried not to sing so emotionally, and I kept in mind about what Shu is asking from Nazuna.
Q: Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the release!
Yonai: Fortunately or not, they chose me to voice the past Nazuna, so I gave it my all (laugh). I hope youâll give us your support, imagining Valkyrie from that time and Valkyrie from now on along with Ra*bits.
