Geometry of the Sun
— National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year Contest
Teotihuacan means "the place where the gods were created," and that's the feeling once you visit this archaeological site of Mexico. This pyramid, the third-largest of Earth, was dedicated to the god of Sun, and its geometrical perfection can only inspire admiration for the civilization that build it. The grandeur of this behemoth is even greater compared with those tiny dots of humanity in the frame. Seemingly insignificant, but in the end also the makers of this wonder. Second place, Cities category.

Aftermath of La Palma’s Volcano Eruption
The huge eruption of volcano Cumbre Vieja hit the island of La Palma at the end of 2021. For three months the lava river destroyed more than 3,000 buildings, 56 miles (90km) of roads and endless hectares of banana plantations, leaving more than 2,000 people homeless. The landscape changed completely as a result. Photography by Enrico Pescantini

Fotografia e didascalia di Enrico Pescantini
Teotihuacan, Messico.

Categoría gente ‘The girl who leapt through time’, de Daniel Cheung. Premio del público ‘Challenging journey’, de MD Tanveer Hassan Rohan. Tercer premio ‘Leida and Laelle—I will lift you up’, de Tati itat. Segundo premio ‘Tea culture’, de Alessandra Meniconzi. Primer premio Categoría ciudades ‘Travelling to heaven’, de Trikansh Sharma. Premio del público ‘Alone in the crowds’, de Gary Cummins. Mención honorífica ‘Reflection’, de Gaanesh Prasad. Tercer premio ‘Geometry of the sun’, de Enrico Pescantini. Segundo premio ‘Another rainy day in Nagasaki, Japan’, de Hiro Kurashina. Primer premio Categoría naturaleza ‘Formation’, de Niklas Weber. Premio del público ‘Mars’, de Marco Grassi. Tercer premio ‘Flamingos take off’, de Hao J. Segundo premio ‘Mermaid’, de Reiko Takahashi.
