i was going back and forth on how deep this message is in terms of the actual content of the manga cause yknow if they say stuff but don't back it up with consistent execution it means nothing

and i think the key here. is that Utena is a villain. she's quite literally the bad guy. she harasses tres magia for personal enjoyment because she's. the villain.

and the series always makes a point of emphasis when the feelings are mutual. for example, with utena torturing azul and both of them getting enjoyment out of it. or utena and kiwi getting ✨nasty✨, or whatever nemo and matama have going on

there is a distinction between "doing freaky stuff for personal pleasure" and "doing freaky stuff as an expression of love and intimacy"

there's also the fact utena tries to avoid going too far with anyone and gets upset when she hurts them, and when it ventures into genuine Bad Stuff TM, it's treated with an appropriate sense of horror and pain. which probably factors into this somehow

I noticed a concerning (read: fun) pattern with the La Verità of Tres Magia.

Before Azul unlocked her La Verità, she felt lost and unsure of herself as a magical girl, had a flashback to when she was first recruited by Vatz, tried to fight Baiser so she could prove herself, lost so miserably that she succumbed to pleasure and begged Baiser to become her mistress but got rejected, and the realization of how easily she succumbed to darkness gave her the push she needed to finally unlock her La Verità form. And when she debuted it against Baiser, Baiser had summoned a giant octopus right before.

Before Sulfur unlocked her La Verità, she felt frustrated at the fact that Enormeeta never acted like she was a real challenge, so in order to prove herself (and spare her friends from having to fight), she pretended to switch sides so she'd have a chance to defeat Baiser on her own. During the fight, in which Baiser summons a giant octopus, she has a flashback to when she was first recruited by Vatz. Remembering this allows her to unlock her La Verità form.

And in the current arc, Magenta has long felt left behind by her teammates having unlocked their La Verità, as well as the Shio-Chans, who have mastered remaining in their La Verità form at a constant rate. In the fight against Enormeeta, Baiser summons an army of octopus people. Magenta is given the push to unlock her own La Verità form after Sulfur defends her from one of Baiser's attacks. However, her La Verità form is significantly darker than what anyone was expecting.

The "Fallen Medic" arc isn't over yet, but if the pattern holds true, then we should expect:

A flashback to when Magenta was recruited by Vatz

A one-on-one against Baiser (which to be fair she did once before)

Something akin to her joining Enormeeta (although the specifics will be different than Azul and Sulfur)

So, yeah, I'm still hyped for this arc.

Up to the bit where Utena fights the higher-ups of Enormeeta and becomes the organization's newest leader, I think. It's been a while, so my memory might be a li'l blurry.

I've tried to push myself through to see if she'd eventually set herself free from Venalita's grasp, but I just couldn't handle the obscene amount of pornography and gave up.

Hm...

Considering how often she gets passed around, she's likely staying with one of her aunts. Said aunt is always working, so Evelyn has way too much free time to herself.

If the school had a magical girl club, Evelyn would be in it. Odds are that she'd probably connect with Hiiragi Utena first for that reason.

However, her interest in Magical girls is more... technical, like a scientist observing a wild animal and wondering how they work. She's definitely stalking the local magical girls and taking notes.

If someone were to visit her apartment, they'd find her room is full of drawings, models, and other things she made as references for her research. There's a clear assortment of detailed statuettes she made of various magical girls she's seen on display. Maybe a little too detailed.

While how she made such a thing is unclear (Although if the rumors about her family are true, it would explain things.), she mostly made AMP as a sort of ongoing project, both to mask her true nature, and allow her to build a working study.

Considering how AMP performs magical girl transformations, Magia Rouge might as well be an entirely different person. Although what she'd call herself while "untransformed" in that form is still WIP.

Magia Rouge's default appearance and uniform are based on the Tres Magia uniforms, but with intentional differences. Although you probably would have to have seen her a few times and be paying attention to notice. (Evelyn also has a few models of Magia Rouge in her room.)

I'm still debating what Magia Rouge's La Verita form looks like... even if Magia Rouge's design is based on the concept of aggressive camouflage.

While she usually prefers to aid civilians and fight any monsters that pop up and quickly leaves the seen once the job is done, any magical girl that intentionally crosses Magia Rouge's path would find she has something of an instinct to "test" anyone that catches her interest. Also, she can pretty much send back anything they can dish out at her.

If anyone was keeping track, they'd probably notice that Magia Rouge seems to be evolving... with her being more capable with every encounter... and in some cases... during an encounter. (To be fair, there's more going on, but that might be a long while before that comes up.)

She does have a sadistic streak, but it's more... analytical... She likes to push her opponents, seeing how far they are willing to go and what their potential might be. Of course, she can go wild if she's enjoying the looks of fear and panic as her target's world collapses all around them.

A detail that will likely come up rather quickly if they get to know her more personally... is that she's illusion blind. She can sense that something is supposed to be there, but well... Trans-Magia looks rather different to her than it would anyone else as the Recognition Inhibition doesn't do anything with her. Admittedly, considering what it's actually like living with that ability, she tends to keep that to herself.

As for why "Violagia" exists... There's a few reasons off the top of my head. One, she felt like she needed a mascot to be more like the other magical girls she's seen. Two, it masks who is really in charge by putting the blame on someone else. Three, it would be easier to recruit more potential people into her squad if they really thought her operation was like the other magical girl teams. Forth, it also works as a way to make the point to other factions that she's already been "recruited" among other reasons.

The transformation items spawned by AMP are diamond shaped, to compliment the Heart and Star shaped transformation items used by Tres Magia and Enormeeta.

Grey was picked out for Violagia because well... she wanted to leave some hints that she's a neutral party, but she personally feels like it looks more like a funny beige. (I haven't exactly settled on what the mascot interface looks like... outside of them not being white, black, and having diamond patterns where the hearts/stars would be)

If Evelyn did start recruiting for AMP, the magical girls running under the system would quickly overtake the territory lost from the Lord's Legion's magical girl hunts... as AMP users are much, much harder to kill. Like... they just kind of respawn if you kill them as it's not actually their real body.

But I'm going off topic here.

Knowing Evelyn, she'd likely befriend Utena Hiiragi first over a mutual interest in magical girls... she might even make her a few figurines as a present. If she meets the others in Utena's little group, it's probably through Utena.

Evelyn is definitely on both Vatz and Venalatia's social media accounts. She was probably stalking Venalatia hoping to collect some data on mascots when Utena was recruited. (She hadn't observed the recruitment process before and wasn't entirely sure if she wasn't seeing things, so Utena's misfortune was Evelyn's breakthrough. She'd likely apologize to her over not saying anything later.)

While she had been observing the Tres-Magia since she transferred to the school, she didn't get a legitimate confirmation that her observations were correct until Magia Baiser's debut. Also, it should be noted that she filmed the entire thing... but like everything else she does, she likely won't point that out unless she trusts them enough to share the info. (I mean, without proper evidence, even if she could see the truth, they might as well be cosplayers.)

Let's just say... the trio's sore butts the following school day kind of confirmed she wasn't seeing things. Although she'd keep that to herself until she feels like it. Admittedly, she was feeling like watching Tres Magia fight was getting kind of boring, so it was a fresh change.

Odds are that she might "adopt" Korisu later... I mean not actual adoption, more like Evelyn doesn't have any siblings of her own and they're more alike than you'd think.

To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if Kiwi and Evelyn don't get along well at first. Although I'm not entirely sure if it's because Magia Rouge will more than eagerly open fire if fired upon.

Okay, so I was thinking about "Looking up to Magical girls", which has an anime that started this season… and I was trying to think about how interactions between Evelyn and the main cast might go as well as how she might approach things.

We know that the monsters started appearing at least a year or two ago, so I'd suppose she probably would have started developing AMP about that time in order to hide her own activities.

The arrival of "Violagia", AMP's mascot interface would probably appear about the same time the Vatz and Venalita. Currently, I'd think that Violagia appears similar to the other mascots with a grey body and maybe… blue or bronze diamond patterns on it's body.

I'd suppose that AMP goes public about the time the attacks on magical girls starts happening, but considering differences between AMP and the Tres Magia system and how much better protected they are in comparison, the AMP powered magical girls would quickly take over the global magical girl market. Admittedly, AMP powered magical girls usually keep to themselves are technically "neutral", so there usually isn't much of a reason for the faction to clash under normal circumstances… but they can be a major pest if motivated. As far as Enormeeta and Tres Magia is concerned, the unknown third faction is generally better equipped, but it's not clear what they are capable of as they are constantly improving their gear with every encounter.

No idea if Venalatia or Vatz would have attempted to recruit Evelyn, but taking into account that she would have already been active when they do notice, I'm not sure how that discussion would go, even if it means more opporunities to collect data for her research. Of course, I'd suppose she might bond with Hiiragi Utena, but it's probably more over the magical girl observation blog she's been running… although it is unclear where she got the footage.

Starting to think I should keep things drawn closer… like she's still developing AMP to aid her in her research and hasn't gone public with it… while using "Violagia" to hide that she's the actual brains behind the operation. As far as anyone would know, Evelyn and her magical girl forms are actually two or more very different people.

I wouldn't put it past Venalatia blackmailing Evelyn into supporting Enormeeta if she figured anything out, but I doubt she'd be able to pick up how far down the AMP rabbit hole goes without some major wedging. She'd have to figure out she developed AMP independently of her magical girl forms as it's not exactly possible to track her down by simply following her around.

No idea what Venalatia would want to do with AMP as she has her own means to make magical girls. I'd suppose she's more interested in her technical skills and raw natural power more than anything, but it would appear that Evelyn already has a contract with the mysterious Violagia… which Evelyn would probably use as a deterrent.

I'm still brainstorming here, but honestly… Evelyn is happier participating more as an observer in most cases and mostly uses AMP to completely hide her identity. Actually getting her to fight is really asking for trouble… and that's not counting all the "toys" that AMP provides for her. In fact, I can definitely say that she's more dangerous without AMP's aid as it's actually her own power that was used to create and fuel the AMP system.

The better way to put it is that she doesn't actually need to transform to use her powers and only really uses AMP as a way to more easily disguise and mask herself, playing various roles or parts as she sees fit for her own purposes. However, anyone that makes a contract with Violagia will be using AMP directly to get their magical girl forms, equipment, and powers.

It's much easier to get closer to a group by playing it off like you are in a similar situation than simply using coincidence... and AMP was designed very well for that purpose.

Saw your Mahoako golden ending post, and it got me thinking; isn’t this just Touhou rules? Enormeeta is given sanction to cause Incidents, the Magical Girls are to resolve Incidents with copious application of energy blasts, beauty and thoughtfulness in combat stand above all (for certain values of that), everyone is super gay, etc.
