Phoenix Fashion Week which has been termed “The leading fashion industry event in the South West” was established in 2005 with its purpose being to showcase different types and forms of fashion from talented, established and emerging fashion designers. Based in the fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States, Phoenix fashion week promotes diversity and culture from designers all over the world, it acts as a host to fashionistas, fashion blogger, and local retailers. It is supported by Talking Stick Resort Amazing Lash Studio, VIP Global designer Showcase, and Sugar Sugar.
This year’s Phoenix Fashion Week had everything that every fashion would love, great music, amazing outfits and of course Brian Hill was on hand to ensure that everything ran smoothly as he combined his role as the host alongside that of the stage designer, greeter and, organizer. The fashion show brought a whole new vibe in a way that we have not seen a while, and it was quite refreshing to be right in the thick of the action. The event also celebrated 14 selected winners have been preparing to launch their collections for the fashion event. Thus giving them a chance to connect with designers and buyers and a lot of designers also got endorsement deals before the event was wrapped up.
This year’s Phoenix Fashion Week showcased over 30 or more emerging and established designers showing the hottest trends in a colorful and fun way. The event gave a whole new meaning to the term “something new and daring.”
Phoenix Fashion Week 2017 also had educational fashion seminars and workshops; Business Of Fashion Seminar Series that was anchored by top industry experts. Where fashion designers were taught how to improve and evolve in business skills, network, and showcasing their clothing line. I got to meet some of the amazing designers that showcased their brands. I asked them designs and experience at the 2017 Phoenix Fashion Week.
Enny Ethics Clothing and Accessories One of the designers was a set of talented sisters from Zimbabwe, Africa. Their designer line is called EnnyEthnic LLC. An amazing ethnic-centric, urban-chic, modern-classic, vintage-chic, and trendy collection with infused African fabrics. Here is a Q&A I had with them:
ZPG - As your models walked the runway and you followed out and saw all the people applauding, what went through y'all minds?  EC - We were awestruck, we had no idea people would love our collection the way they did. Our collection was so different from everyone in regards to the prints, the prints are such a big part of our culture and we were nervous they would not translate to a western audience.
ZPG - What were the inspirations behind the designs you presented?
EC - Our rich culture and heritage have always been a big part of our inspiration. We are Zimbabwean,  also everyday life, living here in the US, we have inspired by the diversity here. We want our designs to be worn by everyone.
ZPG - Which designer / or model was you impressed with during the event?
EC - All the designers brought something different to the table, it was such a tough group of people to compete with. The passion and talent were top notch. As far as models, our opening model Jasmine killed it!!. But you know what, all the models we worked with were professional and well rehearsed.
ZPG - How do you hear about the event and how was your experience?
EC - We got an email from Brenna Moses and then we filled out the paperwork and were accepted. Brian and his crew know how to put on a show!! The show was well choreographed and we did not experience any hiccups.
ZPG - What is next for Ennye?
EC - Opening our own boutique and continuing to grow our brand. We want our clothing to be worn by everyone one out there, and for us to become a household name.
ZPG -  Give me some background about the ladies behind Ennye, where did your passions begin and how did you two meet?
EC - We are sisters, Mercy is older and Matipa is the youngest in the family. We were born in Zimbabwe and come from a family of six. We have three brothers and an older sister Maona, who is also a partner in the business. Our passion started when were children borrowing each other's clothes. We have different styles and strengths as sisters but that has helped in shaping our brand.
ZPG -  What does Ennye mean?
EC - Enny is our mothers' name and is an homage to her.  ZPG - Tell me something interesting about the Zimbabwe culture and how do you contribute it to your style designs?
EC - Zimbabwean culture is very old and very rich. We are known for building the archeological ruins known as Great Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe means "house of stone," We are from the Shona Tribe which is the largest, but there is also the Ndebele Tribe which is the second largest tribe.
ZPG - are there any upcoming Zimbabwe events that you are attending and /or participating in?
EC - We actually have a Cosmetics line, EnnyEthnic Cosmetics,  and we are in the process of getting that launched in Southern Africa...  Learn more EnnYe Collection here - http://ennyecollection.com
