Saw your blog about Sam and boobies and comments about Tobias, your Lord and Master! You gave us tasty info about Tobias in bed, do you have about Sam?
Hi Anon, I don't have any direct source info about how Sam is in bed, unfortunately. But, we can glean some things from what his past romances have hinted at, what they've risked to be with him, as well as what he has said himself.
I present you some of the evidence. TMGD (The Magical Golden Dirk) is verra magical and makes grown women do things they may not ordinarily do.
For example...
1. It makes them get into public catfights over Sam (Amy Shiels and Cody Kennedy aka The Barbie Wars).
2. Makes them ditch their families on Thanksgiving (Cody Kennedy).
3. Makes them leave their perfect English boyfriends (Abbie Salt, she later got back with her perfect English boyfriend, and is now married to him).
4. Makes their previous dates look like little kittens compared to big lion Sam (Mackenzie Mauzy's ex, Billy).
5. Makes them risk the plague (Gia Marie quarantining with Sam in Hawaii at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic).
6. Makes them accept friendship from a disgruntled-would-be-Sam-date, yet still take him up on an offer of a weekend in Germany together, despite said disgruntled-would-be-Sam-date continuously bashing Sam (Georgia Ellenwood and Monica Aksamit). Georgia's like "Monica gurrrl, yeah, I hear ya, that sucks what happened with Sam, but look the other way when I spend the weekend with him in Germany, mkay...cause there's no resisting all that golden delicious Scottishness when it comes a-calling," and many, many other examples.
Women don't risk all this shit for small dick or a bad lover. They just don't. Simple as that.
Here's his ex-girlfriend, actress, Cody Kennedy, making it verra clear, back in the day, that one Scottish man in particular was rocking her world. This is right before she didn't spend Thanksgiving with her family for the first time ever. And instead of American turkey, she chose to have something Scottish for Thanksgiving...in Tulum, Mexico. 👇
Sam dated Abbie Salt twice. The first time was when he initially met her in 2011 or thereabouts, while Sam was filming the movie "A Princess For Christmas" with Abbie's sister, actress, Charlotte Salt. Abbie used to have a Twitter account and they would Tweet back and forth to each other. Here's an example of Sam being cheeky and letting us know he does enjoy #cocktails in bed. 👇 As we know, the second time they dated was for most of 2015.
Here's an old Tweet where Sam lets his ex FWB (friends with benefits), Amy Shiels know he has arrived, is ready, and waiting. 👇 Any other man saying this would be creepy, Sam saying it, is SO hot. My nipples literally get hard whenever I read this Tweet.
Here's a previous post of mine showing some old Tweets between Sam an his ex-girlfriend, Katie Rebekah Osborne. Charm galore. 👇
Sam himself let us in on some things he may be into in bed. Below, is the infamous honeypot video. Sam talks abut deciding between using his tongue, licking a honeypot or using his fingers. I HATE his hair here, so I just close my eyes, and listen to him talk about licking and fingering honeypots, and then I start praising the Lord for a man who is into oral. The opposite is a deal breaker for sure. Thank you Jesus and all the angels in Heaven for Sam being into eating honeypots! 👇
youtube
Below, is another classic video, showing us that Sam is most definitely cheeky, fun, charming, and all of that translates to "good in bed." Too bad all this SamCait cuteness fueled so much Extreme Shipper bullshit but luckily, the rest of us can enjoy it for what it is---two COSTARS and FRIENDS having fun PROMOTING Outlander. I love how proud of himself Sam is after making "the stiff one" comment. He's like "I made a funny!" And just waited for Cait and the interviewer to catch up. And he is still feeling himself afterward. It's adorable to watch. 👇
youtube
Generally, I don't give much credence to men who brag about the size of their dirks, but Sam is famous now, and if he were small, some chick he dated would have already commented about it. Here's Sam confirming being called Sam Hugeone "wouldn't be the first time." 👇
youtube
Plus, we have video proof HERE. 👇 A man has to be "hung" for his dirk to be visibly flapping in the wind from the SIDE like that. Facts.
Also, Sam is a Taurus. Taurus men are known to be sensual, romantic, eager to please their lover, and have a lot of sexual stamina.
In conclusion, based on the evidence presented, Sam Roland Heughan seems to unequivocally be a good lover. He's made more than one woman lose her dang mind for him...and that doesn't happen with bad dirk..it just doesn't. I rest my case. 😚

Girl, your first two prompts for the NH event so far.... 🎉🎉🎉
Secondly, I am so blown away by how you write your smut. It's phenomenal. The details are off the charts. I'm literally about to faint from all the emotions I feel just from reading it. It's a whole new world and I thank you for writing such masterpieces.
So look, I don't want to hear you speak anything bad about your writing girl, at all. I betta not hear you say one bad thing about it girl, I'm serious.
You ass need to make movies, fr. You ass need to be getting paid, period. 👏🏼👏🏼
You always leave me such sweet messages @powerful-niya
Gurrrl, I been writing my lil ass off for this event 😂 as hard as it is to pack every little detail into one chapter, I've had a ton of fun finally getting these crazy ideas outta my head! So many of these prompts are scenes I've come up with outta nowhere, or pieces of an actual story I haven't gotten around to writing, like this whole thing has been liberating and I am so thankful to @saradesuchiha and @quirrrky for organizing this.
This month has been beautiful!
Now about my writing...
Now listen, you gotta understand, I'm usually the first in line to drag my ass through the mud the moment I finish a chapter 😂For some odd reason, I cannot stand my writing 95% of the time. It sucks and I be ready to throw me and the story in the trash 🙈
No idea why I do that 😅 I think I hate on myself before anyone else can, like that makes it better 🙈 I can't help it, I'm an artist! There's something wrong with us, I swear 😂
BUT
I'm happy you enjoyed my one-shots!
I've been tiptoeing around publishing my own original work for profit for years, and if I tell you why I've been putting it of you gonna wanna square up with me 🙈
So imma hush 😂
Anyway, thank you so much for your support. You and errybody else that send me love, and kind words, hilarious commentary and encouragement 💞💞💞💞💞💞

Uhhh hello gurrrl, you worked your magic again! ✨ What a chapter (I guess I'm saying this for all your chapters now, but hey) - I so, so, SO enjoyed the range of topics that went into this. Now I know what you mean about Hunnigan being a bit much. I guess from her standpoint she wants to be the logical, collected one, especially since she knows Leon is acting like an "overprotective boyfriend" 🤣 Still, the end of the convo with Dove was a little unnecessary on her part imo, no need to be that icy! Maybe she felt the need to balance it out with Leon's doting?
Still I love the interactions between all of them, and with Leon going "ma'am" each time, I wonder if it winds Hunnigan up? 😈 The nightmare sequence! That was amazing, I felt so scared for Reader, poor thing she really must be going through a lot. And ok, I will settle for Leon's consolatory kiss on the head, because I'll take anything I can get at this point. It was so sweet the way you wrote him cuddling her, and *sigh* can we just stay in this position forever? 💭
Finally, that cliffhanger, you meanie! I need to know who these major players you're setting up are! Mm'kay I need to calm my tits, but seriously this keeps getting more and more exciting. I just need to see where this goes 😱
Dove (part nine)
Leon Kennedy x female reader (bodyguard trope, slowest, slow burn I swear, a few swears in this one) Part one. Part two. Part three. Part four. Part five. Part six. Part seven. Part eight.
The click of the lock – unsure how your ears even picked up on it at all with the ghost of the alarm still screeching around your skull – makes your stomach churn as Leon heads out into the garage, off to face the unknown.
What if it’s one of those… those Lickers, stalking around the house, waiting to wrap him up in one those awful tongues, fling his body from side to side?
Fuck, your chest feels impossibly tight, like there isn’t even space in there to take a deep enough breath. You squeeze your eyes shut, sitting upright on the sofa, forcing yourself to count - in, hold, out. In, hold, out. In, hold out… If those things are out there, you try and placate – your breathing steadier than it was but heart still pounding furiously - Leon can handle it. He’d said so himself that he had a lot of experience so that must count for something, otherwise he'd more cautious and less cocky when he’d strode out the door.
He is coming back – you repeat it in your head like a prayer, maybe if you say it enough times it’ll make it true.
You two had been about to kiss. He needs to come back.
--
Leon heads straight to the trunk of the SUV to rummage through the duffel bag that he’d stored there the previous day. You’d been polite enough not to remark on why it had been accompanying him to the bathroom and out on his perimeter checks, but it could only go on so long without being commented upon. It seemed a good compromise to leave it locked in the trunk, whilst still having enough on his person to get by. He helps himself to a couple more rounds, two flash grenades and two straight up grenades, though he sincerely hopes he won’t be dealing any of those out so close to the house. Attaching everything to his utility belt, he takes a deep breath, trying to clear his mind. His heartrate is elevated, adrenaline pulsing through his veins from a combination of the alarm, what might be waiting for him behind the garage doors… ..and the fact that he was a millisecond away from kissing you.
Need to address that later.
He won’t have the chance to if he doesn’t get his head on straight, though. He checks his ammo one last time, clicks the safety off and undoes the padlock on the garage door, lifting it up so fast it bounces off its hinges as he tucks himself to the side, preparing for an ambush.
Nothing but a strong gust of wind.
He walks forward, slowly, gun raised, and sidesteps out, keeping his back pressed against the outer wall. It’s a fraction different being in a rural setting, surrounded by fields than it is to be in the depths of an underground facility, not worrying about being so exposed. No-one else here to have his back, so this’ll have to do.
He edges around slowly, trying to keep his ears peeled for any movement above the wind – a heavy footstep, maybe a tile slipping from the roof – but there’s nothing but the rustle of the trees as the wind wooshes through. He keeps his eyes flickering between the horizon, the sky and the ground for any evidence that there was someone or something close enough that would trigger the motion detectors, but nothing is to be found.
Leon circles the perimeter two more times before retreating back into the garage and viewing the footage, trying to pinpoint the exact alarm that was triggered, though it doesn’t seem to be obvious. There’s nothing at all to be seen as he thoroughly watches each of the feeds, checking that there wasn’t some dark flash in the corner of one of something or someone retreating out of shot, but it all comes up blank.
Maybe the alarm was divine intervention, he muses, pulling the garage door back down and securing the padlock. He really shouldn’t be kissing the witness, should he?
His phone rings – Hunnigan. Of course, she’ll be keen for an update.
“Hi. Look, I haven’t forgotten,” he starts, hoping to deflect from a lecture. “Dove’s just got up, so-“
“Great.” Though she doesn’t sound sincere. “Patch me through to your laptop, we can have a video call and I can ask her myself.”
“Oh. Er…” He hesitates, trying to drum up an excuse. “Surely you’ve got a lot of other pressing matters on your plate than this. I’ll ask her now and then I’ll email through the intel, if there’s any.”
“Leon,” her tone is stern, “may I remind you that I’m the handler of this case and it is my right to speak to Dove if I want.” There’s a pause and Leon realizes a moment too late that that was his moment to placate her. “Are you hiding something from me?”
“No, of course not!” He sighs, frustration creeping into his voice. He knows it’s not professional, that he needs to keep his emotions in check, but it’s all starting to bubble over with the accusation. He can’t just waltz back in the living room, declare the perimeter is clear, shrug off the near-kiss and shove you on a video call with Hunnigan – it’d be emotional whiplash.
He takes a deep breath. “I’m not hiding anything from you, you know me better than that. I just… I haven’t had chance to give Dove the last update yet, and I don’t want her to know about the CCTV hack.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t think she needs to know.” “You don’t thi…? Agent Kennedy,” he knows he’s in trouble now – he can picture her rubbing her temples as she thinks how to handle this. “You’re aware I was the one who chose you for this assignment, and I can quite easily choose another agent and reassign you if you refuse to co-operate with myself and HQ.” “I am co-operating! And you know what, Hunnigan? You should trust me. I’ve never given you any reason to doubt that.” He huffs back. “I’ve been where Dove is, okay? She’s still shaken up, she’s fragile. I’ll tell her what she absolutely needs to know, but I don’t want to tell her things that will just pointlessly scare her.” “Oh, come on, you don’t want to scare her? You’ve been in that house barely 36 hours together and you sound like an overprotective boyfriend.” “I don’t.” He near enough growls at the accusation.
“You do – you’ve never made me chase you so much to get information from previous witnesses. Why do you care about her so much?”
“No, hold up - those fucks were not witnesses. All they cared about was avoiding Umbrella’s wrath, not wanting to fall victim to the fucking monstrosities they helped create. Dove was just trying to do her job, to try and keep the public safe – like we are – and look where it got her. She’s injured, in pain, locked up in the middle of nowhere, worried about being suspected of being involved, we just had the security alarm go off and-“
“Wait. Alarm?” He’s used to her typing whilst he’s on the phone, but this time it sounds a little more frantic. “What alarm?”
He exhales, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “It’s fine. I’ve just checked. Nothing to suggest anyone or anything’s been close. Must’ve been the wind – pretty gusty here today.”
“No, it’s just…” She trails off and Leon can hear her attack the backspace key. “We have it set so FSOs are alerted when an alarm system at any of the safe houses trigger. When did this happen?”
“About 30, maybe 40 minutes ago? I’ve done the perimeter four times, it’s clear. I’ll review the footage when I’m back inside.”
The typing ceases. “There’s nothing in any of the logs.”
“That a problem?”
“It’s set up to trigger a notification so we can get in touch with whoever we have out on security detail and check in. I should’ve got something.”
“Yeah, well,” he shrugs as if she could see, “maybe it’s glitched.”
“Maybe…” She trails off, scanning the information on the screen once more. “Okay, fine – a compromise. Go and speak to Dove, quickly tell her what you want to tell her and then video call me on the laptop so I can ask about the servers.”
“And you won’t tell her about the CCTV?”
Hunnigan sighs. “No, I won’t tell her about the CCTV. 10 minutes, understood, Agent Kennedy?”
He takes another deep breath, he’s mad at himself, irritated with the situation and the fact he’s on thin ice after that outburst, that’s for sure.
“Yes, ma’am.”
--
The garage door unlocks and you jump to your feet, bracing yourself. There’s no denying the relief when you see Leon step back in, physically unharmed. You want to run over, to embrace him, but you stay glued to the spot.
“All clear, Dove. False alarm.” He offers what he hopes is a reassuring smile but he can’t quite commit, quickly turning to lock the door behind him.
“Really?” You don’t mean to sound quite so skeptical.
“Mm-hm. I think the wind must’ve just hit the sensor a certain way.” He turns back, but doesn’t make to step forward. “Sorry I was gone a while – wanted to be thorough, you know? And then Hunnigan called just as I was going to come back in.”
“Oh, with updates?” You don’t know what you’d like to hear.
“Kinda.” He hesitates for a moment before moving towards the kitchen. “Sit down – I’ll grab some water, okay?”
He clocks the panicked look on your face, even more so than it was when he’d left the room. Good going, Kennedy. “It’s nothing to worry about, I promise.”
“Okay. Sure.” You mumble, sitting back down heavily on the couch and picking a spot on the coffee table to stare at as you hear him busy himself in the kitchen. He appears a few moments later, a glass of water in each hand and his laptop tucked under his arm. He places one glass down carefully in front of you and moves to sit on the other couch.
The distance feels too great for a man you swore was a millisecond away from kissing you not even an hour ago. Are there CCTV cameras in the house? Maybe Hunnigan had seen what was about to happen before the alarm had gone off and Leon’s getting reassigned. If he can’t know your real name, he really shouldn’t be kissing you either, should he?
“So, first of all,” your attention snaps back to agent. He’s opened his laptop up, placed it on the coffee table, and sat right on the very edge of the other sofa that it doesn’t look like it could be comfortable, “the President wanted the surveillance department back up and running as soon as possible. A lot of manpower has been dispersed to assist.”
“That makes sense - national security and that.” You wonder if they’re in the same office, sat in your colleagues’ chairs. Did they just… steam clean the carpets to get out the blood? Rip them out entirely and lay down rugs to cover the concrete floor?
They should burn the whole building down to the ground.
“In a way, but they are still working on tracking down the perpetrators of the attack. It also means that Hunnigan’s not been able to send a team to your place as yet.”
“So, I’m still a potential suspect?”
“Not to me.” He replies, firmly. “But I’m afraid it’s still something that needs done. In the meanwhile, er, she wants to know if you remember anything about the servers, specifically how they operated.”
You shake your head. “Not anything technical.”
“Yeah, that’s what I said, just they’re struggling to regain access and, well…” He looks at you, sympathetically.
“I’m the only one left to ask.”
“Mm.” Leon looks down at the laptop then, a few taps and clicks as he seems to set something up. “Hunnigan would like to talk with you – pretty urgently – so I said we’d call after I’ve given you the updates. You ready?”
Leon spins round the laptop before you even had chance to respond, an outward call already ringing, the camera on and showing your rather surprised expression in a box to the right of the screen. He doesn’t know how long it’s been since he hung up with Hunnigan – he’d wasted a few precious minutes putting the grenades and ammo back in the duffel bag in the SUV.
“Dove,” Hunnigan’s voice comes through the speakers first before her video appears on the screen. “How are you doing?”
“Okay. Thank you.” You shuffle in your seat as Leon gets up and circles round to the back of the sofa you’re sat on, crouching down to check the angle. “How are you?”
“Good - thank you for asking.” There’s an awkward pause, you can see her purse her lips before she pushes her glasses back up the bridge of her nose before continuing. “Agent Kennedy, you are not required for this call.”
“Understood, ma’am.” He can’t help himself still, apparently. “I’ll go just shower, then, if I’m not required.”
“Good idea,” Hunnigan bites back. “Go cool off.”
You shift slightly in your seat, not sure how to deal with the tension between the two. What had been said in that call? In the little box to the right hand of the screen, you can see Leon raise a hand, almost as if he was going to reach out to squeeze your shoulder. Instead he drops his hand into a fist, bounces it off the back of the couch twice and strides out of shot towards the bathroom.
“I’ll get straight to the point, Dove - the servers.” Hunnigan’s tone has changed – lighter, now she’s talking to you, and she’s typing along with every word. “What can you tell me about them?”
“Erm… Just everything that I told Leon for his report already, I think. All the active cases are stored on there – it distributes them randomly to operatives every morning via the terminals. I already have some pre-allocated when I log in – it must do them at some point in the night.”
“And the end of the day?”
You shake your head. “Nothing particularly different at the end of the day that we need to do. It saves periodically on the server as you update cases. Nothing’s saved on the terminals themselves – it would be a security risk.”
“And did they ever talk about the security embedded into the server itself?”
You hear the shower switch on from the bathroom, wonder if Leon will be using the same shampoo and conditioner… “Dove?” “Er, no. Not that I can recall being told.”
“I mentioned there was a breach on the database when we first met.”
“Yeah.” You swallow around the lump in your throat, wondering what she’s about to reveal. “Did they extract all the information, then?”
“They got nothing.” She sounds disappointed.
“But that’s good, isn’t it? It’s a lot of information, personal information too. You wouldn’t want that getting out into the wrong hands.”
“Mm, not entirely. The server wiped itself in result of the attempt.”
That doesn’t sound right. “Wiped itself?”
“Apparently”, she sounds skeptical. “it’s protocol.”
“No. I mean…” You shuffle in your seat, trying to think ahead of each word before you say it. “I honestly don’t know what it was meant to do in that scenario, but it doesn’t seem right that they’d set it up to wipe without any sort of recovery method, or a separate back-up in the event of a hack or a breach.”
“We’re of the same opinion, then.” She nods, a satisfied smile on her lips. “But I’m curious as to why you’re so sure.”
“Because some of the surveillance has been going on for months, occasionally even a year before enough intel is gathered to be escalated.” Sometimes you’d had to scroll through pages and pages of notes to get yourself up to speed before you even started analyzing the most recent intel.
“What do you mean by escalated?”
“Well, the surveillance team doesn’t act on anything – we’re just collating it as evidence for action then to be taken if deemed appropriate.”
“Do you decide that?”
“I don’t have the final say in it, but I write advisories.”
“How so?”
“Erm, like, this one was flagged up erroneously so it should be closed. This one is of interest, but not enough to act on, ongoing surveillance required. And then any more than that, I flag for review for the senior analysts.”
The shower shuts off.
“And they worked in the same building.”
Worked.
“Yes.” You press past the thought. “I don’t see why they would risk losing everything without some sort of failsafe – it would set the whole operation back to day zero.”
“Indeed, as that’s where we are now. They don’t even know where to start.” Hunnigan sighs and leans forward, rubbing temples with one hand.
“If you’re cleared of suspicion of the attack and breach, how do you feel about leading the division?”
“If?” You can’t help but bristle at that, the fact that she’d put the two things in the one sentence. Were you meant to be flattered at the offer?
“Yes – if.”
“I told you, this isn’t anything to do with me. I… I passed all my security checks at interview, we get vetted monthly without fail! If there had any doubt about my loyalties I would’ve been off the team and in custody immediately.”
“No need to get defensive, Dove. You have to understand where I’m coming from.”
“No, I don’t understand.” Tears burn at your eyes, though you’re determined not to let them fall. “I don’t understand how you think I could possibly have anything to do with what happened, that somehow I acquired those… those Lickers and let them, let them…” Your breath catches in your throat, the memories overwhelming you.
The bathroom door opens, but you don’t turn, eyes fixed on the screen. “Surely you have to agree it’s suspicious that you, out of all of those people, were the only one to survive, and yet with so little injury too.”
“Hunni-“
“I don’t know!” You retort, cutting across Leon’s warning to the agent. “I don’t know why they didn’t kill me. I don’t know why they didn’t bite my head off, rip me apart limb from limb, but… but I wish they had.”
“Dove,” Leon’s voice is soft, now directed towards you rather than the laptop screen, “you don’t mean that.”
“Noted.” Hunnigan’s tone is icy. “Thank you for your time.”
There’s a beep and the call disconnects.
You get to your feet, keep your head down, trying to make a beeline for the bedroom – it’s the only place you can go – but Leon steps in front of you, holding his hands up in front of him, as if he’s afraid to touch you, smelling sweet from the strawberry bodywash.
“Hey, look at me.”
“I’m tired, Leon.” You are, truly – suddenly and inexplicably feeling exhausted. Pathetic.
“Please.”
You look up then, defeated – you’re going to have to look up eventually - but there’s no tears in your eyes. His hair is damp and he’d dressed in a hurry, patches of his white t-shirt going translucent. “What?”
“I know it’s difficult right now – and I’m not just saying that, trust me, I’ve had that feeling when you’re the only one left and you don’t know why – but please don’t say things like that.”
You stare at him, but you don’t know what he wants you to say. “Sorry.”
“No, Dove,” he sounds exasperated, “I don’t me-“
“I really am tired.”
And he believes you. He wants to wrap you in his arms, pull you close to his chest, whisper promises in your ear, press kisses to your crown – anything to bring a spark back into your eyes than the look of defeat.
What had Hunnigan said?
“No, of course. You’re recovering.” He steps aside, leaves a clear path to your bedroom. “Go have a nap or just a rest – whatever you need. I’ll make us lunch when you’re up.”
You nod, hurrying into the bedroom and closing the door behind you with a click and near enough collapse into the bed, mindful of your arm, muffling sobs into the pillow.
--
“Why do you care about her so much?”
The words ring around Leon’s head as he lays on the sofa, one arm tucked behind his head as he looks up at the ceiling. It’s been over an hour and a half since you retreated into the bedroom, an hour or so since he last heard a muffled sob behind the door. He’d had to stop himself dialing Hunnigan’s number to find out what happened – tensions were too high. Why does he care so much? You’re beautiful, sure – always been a sucker for a pretty girl and that’s got him in trouble in the past – but it’s more than that, far more.
Maybe… maybe he cares so much because he’s never really had the chance to care for someone like this. He’s not had any sort of real relationship since before Raccoon City, one night stands here and there, but nothing of any domestic substance. You’re not entirely reliant on him, but it’s those things you’d do for a partner when they’re having a rough time. He could’ve been obtuse and unhelpful, watched you struggle in a foreign environment, but that’s never been his style – the wide-eyed, rookie cop who just wanted to help was still in there.
But what was he thinking earlier, nearly kissing you? You’re vulnerable, a prisoner almost, under his watch. He shouldn’t be doing that. It’s too much of a pressured environment, emotions and tempers are high – as the blow-out with Hunnigan had made abundantly clear.
He rolls to his side, cursing the world. Why couldn’t he have met you anywhere else?
--
You wake up, disorientated at first as to why it’s so dark. You’d retreated back into bed just before midday, surely Leon would’ve woken you for your medication at least. You sit up, allowing your eyes to adjust before hauling yourself out from under the warm covers and tentatively open the door, unsure of what the hour may be.
The living room is empty, an abandoned pillow and blanket on the sofa – Leon must be out on a perimeter check – but the garage door is ever so slightly ajar.
Leon’s never done that, even when he went out to search for a chair he’d got through the same routine and locked it up tight behind him. Maybe he’s grabbing something from the SUV and with you being in bed hadn’t felt it necessary to follow his usual routine?
“Leon?” You call out, cautiously.
There’s no response.
You walk slowly over to the door, trying to steady the building panic in your stomach, and peek through.
The garage light is on. The SUV is still in place, the garage door shuttered down and Leon is on his side, his back facing towards you, almost in a crescent shape so you can’t see his head, and the garage floor is smeared in blood. His blood.
You retreat like a coward – you should go forward, check for a pulse, see if you can do anything to help, but the panic is overwhelming. You make it only a good four or five steps when there’s that horrible, unhuman sound at the same time as something wet wraps around your ankle and yanks you down hard.
A tongue.
It’s one of those things’ tongues.
You scream, try and grab purchase on the carpet, your nails ripping up fibres but it’s not enough. You kick back wildly with your other leg, all terror and no substance, but the tongue begins to retract, yanking you along with it, the carpet burning against your knees as it drags you back into the garage.
You turn to look over your shoulder, tears burning your eyes, as the monstrosity waits on the hood of the SUV, dragging you to rest besides Leon’s lifeless body.
Lifeless and headless.
You scream.
There’s a bang – not of a gunshot, but of a door hitting the wall - and you’re up right in bed, heart pounding furiously against your ribcage, hard, shallow breaths but there’s no oxygen reaching the bottom of your lungs.
“Dove?”
--
The scream had come from your room and Leon can’t remember getting from the sofa to the door he’d moved that fast, throwing it open with such ferocity that it had banged against the wall, the handle leaving a hole in the plasterboard. He had his gun raised, cursing himself already for leaving you alone, only to find the room empty of intruders and you sat up in the bed, tears streaming down your cheeks, staring blankly into the space and breathing so hard it was as if you’d been sprinting.
He holsters his gun – safety clicked back on – and is by your side, crouched down, hand on your covered legs in moments.
“Dove?” He asks, softly.
You look at him, eyes wide in alarm, panting, before you grab his hand, squeezing his fingers in the hopes of reassurance, not quite believing you’re awake. “You’re… You’re okay.”
“Me?” He raises an eyebrow.
You nod. “You were… They were… I…” You swallow back down a sob.
“Hey, it’s all right. It must’ve been a bad dream.”
“It had got you, you were… You were dead.”
You squeeze his fingers again before letting go, trying to steady your breaths. “It felt so real.”
“I know.” He wasn’t a stranger to having such dreams, despite how many years had gone by. “But it wasn’t. I’m fine, see? Not a scratch or bruise on me.”
You nod again, shakily.
He gets to his feet. “Let me get you some water, hm?”
You wrap your fingers around his wrist then. It’s not a strong grip, he could pull out of it easily, but it’s enough to still him.
“Can you stay?” You’re not looking at him, eyes fixed on a random spot of the duvet.
“I’ll only be gone a moment, just to the kitchen and back.”
Your grip tightens a little around his wrist. “Please.”
“Okay.” How could he ever say no?
You shuffle along in the bed then, making space wordlessly.
“Are you sure?”
There’s only a slight tug on his wrist before he clambers carefully onto the bed – boots and all – lying back against one of the pillows and you shuffle to lean into his side, leaving a little space. He wraps his left arm around you without thought, pulls you in closer so your head is laying on his chest.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“No.” He begins to rub his palm on your lower back in soothing circles – mindful not to go higher with the bruising. He can feel the rate at which your heart is pounding.
“Do you want to talk about anything?”
“Can we just…?” You squeeze your eyes closed tight. “Can we just stay like this in silence for a bit? Please.”
“Of course – anything you need.”
You keep your eyes closed, trying to focus on touch to calm your heartbeat - relishing the warmth of his chest on your cheek, his palm on your back and the sound of his steady heartbeat. It doesn’t take long for you to relax again in his embrace, another wave of exhaustion rolling over you from the shock.
“Dove?” He asks gently, cautiously when you’re on the precipice of sleep.
You don’t reply, the effort too great.
“What are we gonna do, huh?” He whispers, giving you a light squeeze.
You feel him press a long kiss to your crown.
--
He’s just extinguished a cigarette, but he already needs another as his associate makes a beeline across the office, a shit-eating grin on his face. Fucker shouldn’t look so happy. He bangs the packet on the table to retrieve another, lighting it and taking a deep drag as a single printed page is laid before him. He looks down – a list of addresses divided into columns that mean absolutely nothing. “What’s this shit?”
“Addresses.” His companion answers, tapping the paper enthusiastically with his every word. “But, more importantly, a list of DSO assets. As you’ll see, there are quite a few of them, all dotted around the States.” He takes another drag of his cigarette, waiting for him to continue. “And I happen to know some of these are designated safe houses - equipped with state-of-the-art alarm and surveillance systems.”
“Right. Do you have a point?”
“Getting there. Alarm systems are all connected to the central hub, so yours truly worked his magic and set all active alarms on the system to trigger at the same time.”
“And why should I care?”
“You should care because only one alarm triggered, suggesting there’s only one in use.” His companion dips his hand in his pocket, pulling out another sheet of paper and a pen. He places it down besides the list of addresses to reveal a grainy CCTV still of a figure and proceeds to pull the cap off the pen off with his teeth, spitting it out on the table and circles an address.
“And that means…?” “That means…” He draws a circle around the grainy image of you laying at the bottom a stairwell, “I know where she is.”

Forever
@mrs-mc-han: Hiiiiii! Can I please please please request an MC who is super loud an extroverted! She doesn’t mean to or really even notice. she tends to yell when excited and use a lot of hand motions and laugh loudly. and she was never aware of it until she heard one of Jumin’s employees gossiping in the bathroom at C&R and goes to Jumin in tear apologizing for making him seem unprofessional. If you do this I will be so happy🥺🥺I love your work! Thank you💕
~~~
Gurrrl! I went through three different drafts because none of them felt right! But I finally settled on one! Here we go!
~~~
"Ow!! Don't -!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Jumin carefully sat you up, his hand on your lower back. "I added too much pressure this time... I'm sorry, darling."
"No, don't apologize, Jumy... it's so nice of you to help me to begin with," you smiled forcibly, gripping his hand.
"It wounds me to see you in so much pain," Jumin sighed, his fingers lightly trailing over your shoulder blades. "How long do you need to rest?"
"Six weeks," you moaned, turning and burying your sulky face against Jumin's neck. "Which is impossible, by the way. What am I supposed to do for six weeks!"
"Rest, obviously," Jumin jested, poking your cheek.
"... Rest, obviously," you imitated. "I mean! What else am I gonna do? Huh? What, I can't do anything except rest?"
"Calm down," Jumin cooed, winding his arms around you. "I'll tell you what. How do you feel about coming to work with me, hm? It's remote, quiet, and you can stay in my office."
"And do nothing?" You pouted.
"I have plenty of board and card games that will keep you busy. Or, you can bring your tablet and play the games you have on there. What do you say?"
"That sounds like... a reason for you to spy on me," you smirked.
Jumin batted his eyelashes. "So what if it is?"
"That sounds like a plan," you giggled, kissing his cheek. "To coming with you to the office, not to the spying."
"Drats," Jumin said stoically, lifting you from the couch and placing you on the bed. "Did you take your medication, love?"
"I did," you blushed, realizing for the millionth time how lucky you were to be reminded. "Come here, hubby. Cuddle close."
~~~
The height of C&R's structure never failed to frighten you. You stood dumbfounded as Jumin gathered your things and grabbed your hand.
"Are you all right?" He smiled, tightening his hold.
"Did you guys expand somehow? The building looks ten times larger than when I was here last!" You smiled, throwing your arm out and flinching shortly after. "Ow! Ow..."
"Be careful," Jumin uttered, rubbing your back. "The building hasn't gotten any bigger... it seems my proposal for cat tree extension has been denied."
"You made a proposal for a cat tree extension?!" You laughed.
"Oh, look. I'm going to be late. Let's go," Jumin mumbled hastily, leading you delicately to the inside of the building.
The sights and the interior sounds were more or less the same since you had last visited. Hurried footsteps and the sound of passes that approved access mixed with the familiar smell of citrus - your senses were overtaken and overwhelmed.
"Why do you look so shocked? You were here just last week," Jumin chuckled, easing you past the security booths.
Before you could respond, you heard a familiar pair of heels making a beeline towards you. You turned and glowed as Jaehee, folders in hand, stopped and bowed towards Jumin.
"Mr. Han -"
"Jaehee!!"
She straightened and smiled as you crashed against her, hugging her. She tucked her folder under her arm and gave you a reassuring pat. "How have you been, MC? All Mr. Han talks about is how you injured your back."
"Even during meetings?! Jumin, shame on you!"
Jumin turned his head, hiding his flushed expression.
"Don't be too hard on him. It's a rarity to see how much he cares for someone other than his cat," Jaehee quipped under her breath.
"We're going," Jumin blurted, grabbing your arm and leading you to one of the many elevators.
"Yes, Mr. Han," Jaehee said quickly, fixing her glasses and her posture.
~~~
"What happened to your office?!" You shouted.
Jumin pursed his lips and blinked quickly. "I felt the need to redecorate."
You rushed into the office and threw your arms open. "Jumin, there are pictures of me everywhere!! OW!!"
"Don't strain yourself by yelling, darling."
Jaehee quickly closed Jumin's office door behind her. "Forgive my sudden intrusion towards this heartwarming conversation, but Mr. Han?"
"Ah, yes. The meeting."
"Jumin, you are -"
"Silly? Adorable? Quite the catch?" Jumin crooned, massaging your back.
You faltered and wrapped your arms firmly around him, giggling as he peppered kisses to your face.
Jumin hummed gently, his fingers curling over and into your hair. "I'll be back, my love. And when I come back, I'll give you the massage you deserve. Don't miss me too much."
"Impossible. I miss you already if only you knew -"
"Mr. Han," Jaehee spoke more pointedly.
"All right, all right." Jumin sighed, the stars in his eyes now replaced by businesslike determination.
"Be strong, my brave man," you grinned.
Jumin grabbed your hand, planted a firm kiss on your palm, and turned quickly, lest Jaehee fire another warning. You closed the door and bit hard at your lip as you observed Jumin's gallery.
Photos of you sleeping, smiling, holding Elizabeth the Third - even pictures of the highly publicized wedding day - were scattered with the finesse Jumin naturally possessed.
"I love you so much, you silly man," you said under your breath, running your fingers over his desk and finally settling yourself on his seat.
You managed to keep yourself busy for half an hour, drawing hearts on Jumin's notepad and playing a round or two of virtual Uno. Boredom was a hell of a demon, so you figured there was no harm in walking around.
Opening the door to his office, you peeked your head through and slid out. You were greeted with polite smiles and inclined heads as you walked through the floor, making you feel... oddly uncomfortable. No doubt, everyone was polite to you because they knew who you were - if you were to make one complaint, Jumin would take immediate action.
But you pushed your suspicions of trivial matters aside and smiled widely towards the ostensibly friendly employees.
Your brows furrowed, and your shoulders tensed the longer you were outside of Jumin's office. You understood what Jumin meant; that feeling of suffocation seemed to hover over your person and only caused more stress to your back as you unconsciously hunched.
You traveled to the café, desirous for some breathing air - there had to be some sense of normalcy where people ate. Still, heads turned as soon as your footfalls could be heard, and more disturbingly flashy smiles were shined your way.
Cramped and in agony, you retreated quickly to the nearest restroom, rubbed your neck, and yanked your phone out.
Hey, honey! Are you almost done?
Jumin usually answered you immediately, but his response still hadn't come your way. Pushing a stall door open, you slumped into the toilet seat and continued to try to work the knot on your back.
"Jumin, shame on you ~!"
Laughter reverberated through the restroom, and you froze in place.
"She's so tacky!"
"And so loud. Could you hear her from accounting?"
"Yes! No offense to Mr. Han, but the least he can do is put her in her place."
"Ha, no offense to Mr. Han, but he chose poorly. My daughter would be a much better candidate."
"Isn't your daughter twelve?"
"Well, Mr. Han does seem to go after those with a... childlike... disposition!"
Earsplitting laughter echoed through the room, through your ears. You pulled your knees to your chest and brought your hand to your mouth to muffle any outbursts of emotion.
"Considering how serious he is, you would assume! That he would choose a practical, serious woman!"
"Where is she from, again?"
"America, from how she behaves."
"That explains the lack of discipline."
You closed your eyes.
"How long would you give them?"
"Six months."
"Ji-Yu! That is far too generous! I give them! Three months!"
"Ladies, ladies. She can't live in a world as glamorous as Mr. Han's. They will divorce as quickly as they met. A country bumpkin will always return to the landfill they came from."
"Are we still on for dinner tonight?"
"Are you paying?"
Another bought of laughter resounded... then, silence. You stood slowly, legs shaking and back aching more than it had that morning.
You went from wanting full transparency to wanting the false reassurance of superficiality.
"So stupid," you murmured.
~~~
"What's next on the agenda," Jumin demanded as he walked straight to his office.
"A meeting at 1430 with Amorepacific," Jaehee answered, easily keeping pace with her boss.
Jumin slid his sleeve up, checking his watch. "Good, I have time to eat lunch with my wife."
"Enjoy your time with her, Mr. Han, but please be in Boardroom D ten minutes before the meeting."
"Yes, yes, fine." Jumin pushed the door open and was greeted by your swollen red eyes and dripping nose.
"Welcome back," you sniffed, forcing a smile.
Jumin's nonchalant expression immediately shifted to one of anxiety. His brows creased, his eyes grew, and he flew to your side. "Darling, what... why are you crying?"
Your voice quivered. "Can I go home?"
"Talk to me," Jumin urged, grabbing your hands. "Is your back hurting you? Did anyone try to come in?"
"No, no... I just... I want to go home," you cried, pulling your hands from Jumin's and covering your face.
"All right... all right, darling," Jumin cooed, grabbing his phone from his back pocket. "I'm calling Driver Kim right now -"
"No," You blurted. "I want to go home. Where I came from."
Jumin paused... then quickly snapped into action, carefully grabbing your chin. "Speak to me. Darling? Why are you saying these things."
"Who am I kidding, Jumin? I can't... I'm not cut out for this life. I'm not cut out for you, you...! You deserve way better than me. You need a woman who's mature, demure, graceful... that isn't me, and you'd be much better off if -"
"Stop," Jumin boomed.
"You just told me to talk to you!" you babbled.
Jumin's anxious eyes eased. "Is that what this is about?"
You closed your eyes. "I heard a gaggle of women talking while I was hiding in the bathroom... Jumin, they're right."
"Are they?" Jumin asked.
"Well... yeah, I mean... they even attacked you, saying how interested you were in childlike women..."
Jumin wiped your tears with his thumbs. "Mmhm. Complete strangers weighing in on the depth of our relationship... it never occurred to me that I should take their opinions to heart."
You hiccupped. "All I'm saying, Jumin, is... I didn't realize how ridiculous I made you look... I didn't consider it."
"What is there to consider?" Jumin asked gently. "You would rather take their words to heart over how happy you make me when you smile? How fast you make my heart beat when I see how eager you are to explore different things? How, in a sea of millions, your eyes are the only ones I will ever look for?"
Your lip quivered.
"Others will have our opinions of us, but you will always be my wife. No matter what is said, I will always come to you. I want you to realize this, that you may finally lean on me... that you will irrevocably trust that my love for you is infinite.
"... Jumin!" You sobbed, tears streaming down your eyes. "You weren't supposed to make me cry more!"
Jumin roughly tugged you in and held you fiercely, kissing the top of your head. "No more talk of you leaving me... don't go anywhere. Stay by my side, and rest assured that I will stay by yours."
"Forever?" You squeaked.
"And ever," Jumin whispered vehemently. "Ah... your back -"
"Don't you dare pull away from me, Jumin," you half-joked.
"... Ha. I wouldn't dream of it, my dear. What do you say we grab some lunch, hm? Your choice."
"Sure... fifteen more minutes like this, first," you replied, your mouth pressed against Jumin's chest.
Jumin laughed and rested his cheek atop your head. "Excellent plan."
When You’re Ready Ch. 09
Pairing: Bryce Lahela x f! MC (Eleanor Bloom) x Ethan Ramsey.
Word Count: 4.1k
Warning: Angst? And Ethan kinda psyco 🤣
A/N: It took me ages to finish this chapter because, to me, the plot is kind of boring and it was made just for story progression (and I just couldn’t leave it behind nor reducing it to a paragraph for the next chapter), but I have to admit that with the adjustments that I made yesterday, it’s now pretty decent. Fortunately, next chapter is way more interesting.
A/N2: Special thanks to @aylamwrites for helping me with some of my writing/translation issues and for her advices. Gracias gurrrl 💜💜💜
Hope you enjoy it!
Chapter 9. The Less I Know The Better.
Then I heard they slept together
Oh, the less I know the better.
Eleanor made her entrance into Edenbrook with confidence she never felt before. Not even last year, when she was starting the residency program of her dreams at Edenbrook, she had felt this proud of herself. It was her first day both as a second-year resident and as Junior Fellow Member in the Diagnostics Team, directed by her medical hero, Dr. Ethan Ramsey. And well, yes. The person she had feelings for.
But today was also the first day where she would leave all that in the past, to truly be over him. She would face him, talk to him, and make his presence something so usual in her life that after a few weeks he wouldn’t mean anything but a mentor, a colleague, and hopefully, one day, a friend. But not more than that.
She knew it would be difficult. The night before had been hard enough not falling into his spell again. Her lips were thirsty for his kisses, her skin aching for his touch and her mind only wanted to float into the sky of his eyes once more. But she wasn’t blind anymore. She knew it wouldn’t do her any good.
Bryce had opened her eyes. Even if Ethan had the most selfless intentions pulling away from her to not jeopardize her career, he had hurt her consciously. He had ignored her even when she was drowning. And what Bryce had done just in a few weeks? He treated her like the most precious thing in the world. Like a queen. In the way she always wanted to be treated by someone, but she thought it was just stupid ideas romantic love had put in her head. He had listened to her, respected her space, consoled her when she needed it, and even when she didn’t think she needed it. He had made her his priority. The less she could do at that moment was putting him as her priority over anything she might be feeling for Ethan.
And now, there she was, facing her first obstacle, standing outside the Department of Diagnostics. Big glass walls, and a sliding door before her. She took a deep breath and with a smile on her face entered as the doors slid softly to let her in.
The office was quiet and illuminated by the natural lighting of that summer morning. There was the faintest scent of bergamot and mandarin in the air, probably traces of Ethan’s perfume left early in the morning.
She observed the place taking short steps around. A big desk in front of the entry, a circular table on the right side with a big whiteboard behind…
“I’m here, I’m really here”
“Hey, me too.”
…And a couch between the table and the entry, where it was a man reclined, reading a medical journal.
A tanned man with tiny eyes and a grown beard stood up and approached her. He seemed familiar, but the big smile on her face made her think she might be wrong.
“Um, Zaid? You’re on the diagnostics team?”
“Ah, I take it you’re one of my twin brother’s residents.”—He answered extending his hand to the confused resident.—“Baz Mirani’s the name, immunology’s the game. Game-slash-specialty.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t even know Zaid had a twin brother.”
After a few moments talking, her mind raced to the smirk Ethan had given her the night before. That’s why he didn’t want to talk about the team members. It wasn’t about bias, he just wanted to keep it a surprise the fact that Zaid Mirani had a super friendly twin brother that made them look the personification of the yin and yang in terms of niceness and well, in term of twins. While Zaid was King of Sarcasm, Baz had no ability to perceive it. While Zaid was grumpy and serious, Baz was amicable and talkative.
Then it was the time to meet the last member of the team, June Hirata. June was a very intense-looking woman with a British accent and a self-assurance that exuded from her pores.
Eleanor felt a little intimidated by the way the attending was scrutinizing her, but she thought it was normal for a neurologist and psychologist to examine a new colleague not only on a physical level but in terms of corporal language too, just like she was doing it.
After a few minutes of chatting with her new colleagues, Ethan appeared through the sliding doors.
“Introductions done? Great. We’ve got work to do”—He said, while the three took a seat in the table.
She couldn’t help but feel a little twist of nervousness inside her stomach, but she tried hard to suppress any emotions she might feel, and just focused on trying to be just as stoic as her mentor always appears. She put her best professional face and started to observe how the team worked and took notes of all the things they were saying.
June and Baz started asking questions to Ethan, who had all the information about the new patient. Eleanor remained silent, witnessing the exchange, trying to absorb all the information possible. She was a bit intimidated because that level of confidence and questioning was really out of her league, but she tried to convince herself that it was a normal response for a first day.
The team divagated through some symptoms, theories, and diseases until June gave the final idea: Cutaneous Kikuchi disease. With that, Ethan asked her to run a biopsy on the patient's rash to confirm the diagnosis.
Once the team was dismissed, both attendings returned to their other duties, leaving Eleanor and Ethan alone.
“After you’re done with our patient, you can see Ines and Zaid for further assignments.”—He said as he was taking a seat by his desk—"You’ll be balancing your work here with your usual resident duties. Now that you’re a second-year, that will include rotations at the free clinic.”
“Yes Dr. Ramsey”— She replied standing up from the chair—“We will always diagnose patients without seeing them?”
“No, but we’re often asked for help by hospitals all over the country, so it’s a good habit to keep our blind diagnosis skills sharp.”
Eleanor was about to reach the door when she stops in her tracks, hesitating.
“Is everything alright, Eleanor?”
“Actually, could we talk?”
Ethan gazed at her for a few moments before answering.
“About the job or about us?”
“The job. That’s why we are here.”—Eleanor replied with obviousness, but it sounded harsher than she intended. As if it would never cross her mind talking about them.
His eyes betrayed him for a split of a second as he addressed the coldness in her response, but then he just got up from his desk and moved to the circular table. Eleanor sat beside him a moment later.
“I’m all yours”
She couldn't help but shook her head to herself, not missing the ulterior motives in Ethan’s words for the second time straight.
“I’m just surprised how well and how quickly you worked that out. How are you sure you made the right diagnosis?”
Ethan took his time to explain to Eleanor how the team proceeded, the normal way they work, and gave her some tips to be more involved next time. He assured her that it was normal that the first days she would be feeling lost and ignorant, but once she started to obtain more knowledge from medical journals and research, she would improve her involvement in the team.
She nodded at every advice, and when he was done, she kept staring at him inquisitively.
“What is it?”
“Your glasses, I’m not used to see you with those on.”
“Oh, yes. I use them when I work on the computer. Now that you’ll come to the office frequently, you’ll see me a lot like this.”
“They make you look smart”—She teased, trying to diffuse the tension she still sensed on Ethan after her cold response.
“You've caught me. The illusion behind my status. Without these, I’m a simpering moron.”
That seemed to relax his shoulders a bit. They both laughed for the first time without the tension of their actual status, where recriminations wouldn’t be involved this time. Her eyes shined, happy for sharing that moment after so much discomfort.
“So, Zaid had a twin brother and you dared to not tell me.”
Ethan chuckled
“I wish I was there when you saw him for the first time. I can only imagine your face.”
“Haha, very funny. You’re such a trickster, Ethan.”
They had lean close to each other without noticing, their knees touching, and his fingers just an inch away from hers. Her composure stiffed, her will power was once again being challenged.
She couldn’t give in. She had to keep playing the cold Eleanor that didn’t feel a thing about his mentor.
She swallowed hard.
“Well, I should get those test run.”—She informed, taking the notebook in her hand, and then standing up in one swift motion—"Thank you for your advice, Ethan.”
“You’re welcome, Eleanor. Anytime.”—He responded, caught off guard by the abruptness of her reaction.
Eleanor left the office quickly, sensing how his eyes were following her as she passed through the door. She released the breath that had been holding a few steps away from the office.
She had made it.
The interactions during the day weren’t any different. She ran the tests, informed her discoveries to the team (with the help of her intern, Esme Ortega), and then she made quite an impression with the Governor by diagnosing her son was sick; which granted her an invitation to have dinner with Naveen, Harper, Ethan, the Governor, and her staff that night. She had become the best card Edenbrook had to secure important funds to keep the hospital afloat.
After dropping Harper home after the dinner, Eleanor couldn’t suppress the memories of the last time she was alone with him in that car. The night before he left. The night of their last kiss, of the last time they made love. The last time they consciously and voluntarily stared at each other as lovers.
She was in the exact same place where everything had ended and after two months it still hurt.
Eleanor turned to her left, wondering if Ethan might be thinking the same, but his face was serious, without traces of knitted brows or troubled eyes. The streetlights were framing his features in different shapes as the car moved down the streets. She fixated her eyes in his grown beard, which still felt a bit odd to her, but to some extent, it would be useful as a fresh start. He wasn’t the Ethan she knew and wanted. He was the Ethan that left for two months to start over and be the boss and colleague she needed.
Then she looked away, coming back into her senses. She clenched the silk material of her pine dress in her fists until her knuckles were white
“What. Are. You. Doing?” —She asked herself, pressing her fists into her knees harder at every word she said on her mind.
The car stopped before the red traffic lights and she felt Ethan was turning to her, staring.
“Don’t look at him. Don’t.”—She ordered in her head, her composure tensing even more.
But after a few moments, she gives up.
Amber connects with the sky and the earth stopped spinning. She was so lost in him that didn’t notice he had brought his right hand to hers, taking it gently.
“We’ll be okay.”
His thumb caressed the knuckle of her middle finger, and that’s what it took to feel a shiver down her spine. He knew what she was thinking. He was touching her. No. It wasn’t anything. It didn’t mean anything.
She had to look away, but if the first time had been hard, now it would be impossible while he was staring at her. She couldn’t just look away. She wasn’t that brave, at least for now.
From the corner of her eye, she perceived a change in the lights. Her way out.
“It’s… It’s green now”—She said in a tiny voice, his eyes desperate for a moment.
Ethan glanced back to the street, clearing his throat. The air returned to her lungs.
He drove the rest journey in complete silence and he barely looked at her when she got off the car outside her apartment.
“Thanks for the ride Ethan, see you tomorrow”
“Goodnight, Eleanor.”
She had made it again.
--
The next day, Ethan and Naveen were sharing their remarks about the dinner the night before when they spotted Eleanor, Bryce, and Sienna entering the hospital after their lunch break. Ethan tried to avoid looking at her, not wanting to expose his mixed feelings about her in front of Naveen, but the old had mastered at reading him after so many years.
“Rumors says Dr. Bloom has been doing good these past weeks”—Naveen said as he finds Ethan following her, reluctantly.
“Mmmh?”
“In the company of a surgical resident”
“You mean with that scalpel jockey?”—He inquired, pointing out the resident who was walking beside Eleanor with a brief motion of his head.
“Yes, precisely”
“I doubt it. They are just friends. Besides, I don’t think she’d like someone like him.”
Naveen didn’t miss the bitterness in his last words.
“What do you mean? Just because he is a surgeon?”
“Yes. He is arrogant and shallow.”
“Shallow? To me is quite interesting. I’ve heard plenty of praises from Harper. Very promising, bold, intelligent, and ahead of most of his fellow second-year residents, even some third-years.”
“Hmmm, well, the point is I don’t think Bloom would have that bad taste dating a jock like him.”
“Well, they have been seen pretty cozy. I, personally, have seen them while having lunch or going t-.”
“I’ve seen them too.”—Ethan interrupted—"You say cozy, I would say he’s a harasser who likes to touch women, that’s why he might have his hands all over Eleanor. I don’t know why she lets him.”
“Am I sensing jealousy in your tone, my friend?”
“Jealousy? For Christ’s sake Naveen. Why would I be jealous of a scalpel jockey? And there’s nothing between Eleanor and me to have the right to feel jealous.”
Naveen chuckled.
“Whatever you say, my friend. But to me, they make a nice couple, she looks very happy around him.”—The Chief commented with a smirk full of malice, waiting for his reaction.
“Of course she’s happy around him, he acts like a goddamn clown all the time.”
Ethan turned around and left with his head steaming with anger.
He didn’t believe Naveen’s words. He didn't want to believe his words. He was convinced that Bryce and Eleanor were just friends, or maybe they were having a fling as all resident do, but nothing more than that.
But he couldn’t ignore such information much longer and against all his self-control and dignity, he started paying attention to her interactions with the surgical resident. However, at first, he didn’t find anything extraordinary. They would have lunch with her roommates as usual, hang out at Donahue’s like always, and chat through the hallways of the hospital as all colleagues do. Maybe Bryce acted flirtily and a bit handsy with her, but it wasn’t different from what he has always been with her.
The idea of them having a fling made him feel a pit in his stomach, but at the same time, it relieved him that it was just that. She was sleeping with Lahela so she could to move on. And he couldn’t blame her. But a relationship? Love? With that jock? That was beyond his comprehension.
While he was observing him, Ethan wondered what Eleanor would see in him. He had listened, without no other option, that many residents, even nurses, found him very attractive— ‘hot” was the most used word in fact—, while other residents, mostly men, would say he was cocky and arrogant, but Ethan was sure that even when he agreed he had a cocky way to conduct himself all over the hospital—all over the world— he wasn’t arrogant without fundaments.
He indeed was an outstanding surgical resident, he had heard many praises from Harper the last few months, so he just knew his worth and how to use it, and Ethan couldn’t condemn him for that. And if he was honest about it, he also had to be honest about the fact that he was an outstanding doctor too. He was always kind and nice to patients, always on time to prep them for surgeries, and always had the time and patience to explain for the umpteenth time how would be the procedure to any patient or family who would ask to him. And that was actually an important trait. That said, Bryce Lahela wasn’t so despicable after all, but he was a scalpel jockey and probably was sleeping with Eleanor, and that was enough to Ethan to despise him.
A few days later, th attending was accompanying a patient before her heart valve replacement when Bryce came into the room to prepare her for the surgery.
“Good morning Mrs. Montero, how are you today?”—He greeted in a joyful voice and then he nodded to the attending—"Dr. Ramsey”
“Dr. Lahela”
“I’m not gonna lie, I’m scared.”
“You have nothing to be scared for.”—He assured—"Dr. Tanaka is the best doctor you could have to repair anything that involves your heart, so everything will be fine.”
“That means he could fix how broke my heart is after my husband passed away?”
Bryce stared at her with a sad smile.
“I’m afraid not. But with the new valve, you’ll get plenty of years to make new memories and adventures, so you’ll have enjoyed your time to the fullest before you left this earth to be with him."
“I like the sound of that.”
“I’m sure you do. And let me say you that you will have the best resident by his side too, so you'll be in the best hands Edenbrook can provide.—Bryce winked warmly at her.
Ethan suppressed a scoff at his words and stood up from his chair.
“I believe you, my boy.”
And then Bryce grinned. A broad smile with his nose wrinkled paralyzed Ethan in his tracks for a second.
The same grin Eleanor had done that night at Donahue’s and that he had found odd and new in Eleanor, but for some reason, it was familiar.
And it was familiar because he had seen it in Bryce Lahela many times when he prepared patients for surgery. That sincere and knowing smile.
“Dr. Ramsey, thank you so much for your company.”
“You’re welcome, Elena. You’ll be in good hands now. I’ll come to see you when you have your new valve, alright?”
“Alright.”
“Lahela”—He nodded before leaving the room with his head racing incessantly.
He had read a while ago that expressions are contagious between people, even at the moment they are displayed, as a show of empathy and to recognize other people’s feelings. He did know too that couples after some time would imitate their expressions and laughs. But it also could happen with friends, family, and whoever you share a place to live with.
Maybe it was normal and Eleanor not only had expressions from Bryce but also from Sienna, Jackie, and Elijah, as they would see each other throughout the day and they shared an apartment.
But there was another option that could explain the fact that Eleanor had acquired a smile from Bryce. But he was so in denial that he didn’t even want to put it into words.
That realization changed everything in Ethan. His focus was now on Eleanor. On study how different she was compared to the months before he left. And in their daily meetings or just in their encounters through hallways of the hospital, he found that she was again the same happy and sweet resident he had met last year, with a calm demeanor, her sunny smile, and firm disposition to help whoever needed it. But he also noticed that this 'start over' between them had been taken seriously by her. She was completely focused on the work and never talked about anything that wasn’t work-related with him, and he never found her looking for his eyes or his touch like she used to, but he could tell she used to grow anxious when she had to be alone with him in the office.
A few days later, Eleanor found Bryce, Rafael, and Ethan on their way to their morning gym session so she joined them in a heartbeat. When she got into the room with her workout clothes on, the three buddies were in the treadmill warming up. She went to the fourth machine and started to run beside Rafael.
“What made you want to workout with us this morning, Ellie?”—He asked
“I always try to find a moment to make any physical activity but I hadn’t had the chance these few last days so I’m taking the chance now. I want to stay healthy,”
“That's a very good reason. The body is a machine. When it goes without use, it rusts.”—Ethan conceded, at the other side of the room, in the first treadmill.
“Don’t think that’s medically accurate, Doc”—Bryce pointed out, running between Ethan and Rafael.
“I know surgeons don’t know how to read a book, but that’s called a ‘metaphor’”—Retorted Ethan. Even if there was a teasing smile on his face, the bitterness of his words was evident to everyone in the room.
“Geez, I’ll tell Jackie to send you an invitation to the hate group for scalpel jockeys, Ramsey. You would love it”—He said, not missing a bit, his confidence not even remotely shaken.
Ethan observed Eleanor, whose smile had fainted with disappointment. After a few seconds, as she observed Bryce was smiling as usual, she quickly shook it off and ignored the attending for the rest of the routine.
Ethan knew there was something there and just the fact that he might confirm the rumors made him angry. At himself and at Naveen. Why he had to tell him? It would have been so much better not to know what Eleanor was doing with her life. It was not his business and he had no right to snoop into her life like he had been doing these few weeks.
---
The unusual bitter comment the attending had said to Bryce, made Eleanor sense that maybe he was suspecting about her relationship with the surgical resident. The multiples times she caught him observing her in her lunchtime, at Donahue’s, and anywhere he would spot her with Bryce were making sense now.
Maybe there were rumors. Maybe Naveen had told him, he surely knew every gossip in the hospital—not just because he was the Chief, but because he liked hospital gossip—, and of course he would deliver this information to Ethan to wake him up. The old man had always been pretty honest about his support toward Ethan and her.
Or maybe he just knew. He just figured it out because of her coldness towards him and because even if she and Bryce tried to keep it lowkey, there was always the chance that he could have caught them the times theye couldn’t help but holding hands or kissing when they were close.
Either way, she didn’t care.
At least not as much as she cared the day before he was back, but now she felt relieved that Ethan might have some clues of her situation. She still didn’t want to confirm it, she wanted to know if he was bold enough, if it affected him hard enough to approach her and ask her about her relationship status.
But she knew him. Ethan was never a man of facing emotions or tough conversations. He was a master at avoiding feelings and people and maybe he would wait for something or someone who would confirm the rumors. The problem was if he was emotionally prepared for that moment.
Drunj!Der Yells About Outlander
Thoughts on Ep. 511
Ok so this episode is like the perfect embodiment of my love/hate relationship with the books. And the show, but since the author wrote it, the books too, and her writing/plotting in general. I hated the other episode she wrote so my expectations going into this were *rull* low.
This episode was like a series of character-driven vignettes, which is what I like most about her writing (and why I bother even sticking around): random scenes here and there that I really enjoy as standalone bits. But, in true Outlander fashion, it also like ticked a lot of the boxes for stuff plot-wise that I can’t stand. Namely, yet more violence against multiple women, Marsali and Fergus getting shortchanged, Lord John crossing just over the creepy line for a sec with Jamie and the situation with Ulysses’ legal status. It didn’t check the rape box, but we may have to revisit that next week. I sure as fuck hope we don’t have to, but seeing as this show never met a rape it didn’t think was ToTaLlY nEcEsSaRy to include... *preemptive sigh*
Show-wise this very much felt like a penultimate episode and in that respect it accomplished what it was supposed to. In the overall arc of the season though, much like when considering the whole book series, a few solid standalone scenes here and there do not equal a good whole. To be in this fandom is to be an expert in eating around the moldy parts of the bread to get a few nibbles of good stuff.
Anywho, SCIENCE!JIZZ 5EVA!
Fuck yeah PB&J, and Claire is forgiven for not mastering fluff yet. But fluffernutters are also a staple in any growing kid’s diet.
Poor burned girl. It’s not her fault she vaguely resembles a walker so I spent the whole time thinking about TWD.
Omfg I got like PTSD flashbacks when I saw that dress in the title card. KILL THAT DRESS WITH FIRE!
There may not be fluffernutters, but Bree and Claire fluff and Young Ian and Jemmy fluff are good substitutes.
This kid is adorbs tho.
They’ve been really blasé about mentioning time travel in front of folks this season. First Marsali and now Young Ian. The latter will be remedied, but I’m still lowkey annoyed that Fergus and Marsali aren’t brought into the circle of trust... Esp. when there was a perfect opportunity for it later on.
I cannot with men, tbh. Seeking justice for a daughter who’s been “dishonored” by killing the dude is like the most overused trope of toxic masculinity ever. And now we’re supposed to be all like oh look how relatable the Brown guy is! Because our tropey men wanted to kill a dude like that last week! Hard pass. Also, fucking his kid wasn’t raped, she loves a guy who happens to be married, but everything was super consensual. Sooo like double gross points for you, dude.
And yes, I know it’s ThE pAsT, but I am not in the past, I am in the present, and the show is airing in the present, so thinking this sort of behavior is gross is totes ok. So the fucked up squad of randos who always jump into my notes about how they like “their men to be men” can just shove it, ok? Ok.
They’re like really not subtle with the foreshadowing this episode are they. But then again, when has subtlety ever been a thing on this show. That’s a nice still you got there, shame if anything were to happen to it...
I’m really digging the decor in this living room.
Oh hey! They finally decided to stop pretending like Young Ian was dumb and didn’t notice literally *gestures* everything about Claire.
I’m still salty they never told Jenny and Ian in S3 tbh.
Shockingly, considering who wrote it, so much of this episode is directly from the books. So I’m sure the Cult of Herself folks will be obsessed. And like yeah, some of the stuff in this episode is some of the bits I really like from the books as individual little scenes. However! I know some in the cult will use this as a reason why the show should StAy TrUe To ThE bOoKs more. And please, for the love of fuck, fight that instinct. Parts of this episode aren’t good “because they’re from the book,” they’re good because they’re emotional moments between characters, which is where both the books and the show are strongest. “Sticking with the book” on everything would make an already not great show even worse. I mean, the show ain’t great, but thank fuck they’ve streamlined the book stuff as much as they have.
Yes, I did notice the Pamela easter egg from the book. No, I’m not one who gets excited about shit like that.
Aaand here we get the problematic af bit about Ulysses and his legal status. In the book, he was offered freedom and turned it down to stay with Jocasta. Which is twelve kinds of fucked up. Here, he *is* a free man and he chooses to stay and cosplay an enslaved person so he can chill with Jocasta? FUCK THAT NOISE. That is some “benevolent slave owner” bullshit. They don’t get overt with the Ulysses and Jocasta are banging stuff from the book, which is also epically fucked up considering the power dynamic and how a fuckton of men enslaved their own fucking kids because they’d raped the mothers and children take the status of the mother. I’m glad they didn’t come right out and say that. But it’s like lowkey implied and even if it’s not supposed to be taken as canon, having a Black man be given the option to get the fuck out of there and choose to stay with someone who enslaves other Black people is like some dangerous white fanfic nonsense.
Also, thinking about the slave/master relationship dynamic today really makes me wish I saw Jeremy O. Harris’ play while it was running...
Oh yay, Bree and Roger are actually leaving. Much like the Bonnet shit, credit where credit’s due, I’m glad they’re not dragging the will they/won’t they go out for another season.
Don’t sound so butthurt that you didn’t get to murder a guy, Jamie.
Poor Young Ian. Buddy needs a hug. And more screentime for his story. Like, do we really need something else traumatic to happen to Claire when we could explore family dynamics instead? This time with Young Ian and his wife and their Mohawk family?
THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER WAYS TO HAVE DRAMA AND CONFLICT THAT CAN TAKE UP THE RUNNING TIME OF A SEASON THAT DON’T INVOLVE CONSTANTLY PUTTING THE WOMEN IN PHYSICAL DANGER.
Lol at the thought of LJG “working the land.” Like, buddy, have you seen yourself?
“No doubt there a great many things I shall miss about being here.” Don’t make it weird bro.
Yes, I know he’s like gonna miss their friendship and stuff. But he’s always been just a smidge too intense about it. And by a smidge I mean the gay guy openly in love with his straight best friend a gross trope and I don’t like it.
Ok so if we’re following the “rules” of the show that the production used to recite ad nauseam to justify why Jamie and Claire barely seemed to even like each other for a few seasons (”they’re married, we don’t need to see them fuck!” “we already know they love each other, it’s a given!”), this sex scene shouldn’t exist. Because it’s really not essential to the plot. Which just proves the “rules” are and always were bullshit excuses. And the author/writer of this episode def spouted that bullshit too, so she can also shove it.
Because this scene *should* exist and those “rules” *were* complete crap. Because Jamie and Claire are very sexual/physical people and, especially when they’re going through things, use sex to center themselves where they are and in their relationship. Bree and Roger are leaving. Jem’s leaving. They’re sad about that. But they’re also happy that they made a family and got to be together as a family and are glad to have had that chance. (And, they just like to fuck.) So of course this is a good character moment. This is the kind of shit we should be seeing instead of just a constant barrage of plot and violence. And the crew can fuck all they off with their not at all convincing talking points about “rules.”
Also this is a much better use of sex than them constantly having them fuck after a fight instead of actually working through the issue between them.
Also, fuck yeah, get it gurrrl.
SCIENCE!JIZZ! (I’m gonna need a gif of Claire’s face when Jamie’s figuring it out because that’s gonna be in heavy reaction rotation.
I just love Claire fuck yeah science Beauchamp.
It’s also another scene that does nothing to advance the plot, but is a nice respite from the constant trauma. The show has yet to find a balance between the two, which is annoying af because they’ve had five seasons to figure it out. So like whenever there is fluff, folks pounce on it like starving animals. Which some in the crew (and some fans) like to point out like “see, you all like everything now!” Or “look, why are you whining so much, we gave you this!” Or “wow you hate the show but now you like this part? Hypocrite.”
But like, no, that’s not what it means. Not giving someone water for days and then throwing them a small canteen doesn’t mean everything is hunky dory. It’s still super fucked up. So no, enjoying the fact that there are a few fluffy scenes in an episode doesn’t mean the show is good. If they made more of an effort to center the characters and spread the fluff around a bit more instead of waiting until there was like trauma fatigue and throwing in a fluffy life raft, the show as a whole would be stronger.
</rant>
Ok it’s super fucked up they hadn’t told Bree about Willie yet, but I’m glad Jamie is the one who tells her.
“And it wasn’t a matter of love between us, but it was her choice, and that’s all I’ll say about it.” BECAUSE SHE RAPED HIM. COERCION IS NOT CONSENT AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT HOW “HOT” THAT SCENE WAS ARE FUCKING DISGUSTING AND THE PRODUCTION IS DISGUSTING FOR SHOOTING A FUCKING RAPE IN THE MANNER THEY DID. AND ALSO FUCK THEM FOR HAVING IT BE A RAPE IN THE FIRST PLACE WHEN IT COULD HAVE SO FUCKING EASILY BEEN CONSENSUAL.
This show is so fucking not good.
This scene with Jamie and Brianna is super nice, but like, we saw nothing of them building their relationship. He didn’t even fucking hug her after Murtagh died. The scene loses so much of what it could have had because they never did the legwork to show us what they mean to each other.
It’s the same old shit they pulled with Claire and Jamie. “Oh they’re together and endgame so we don’t actually need to show you them building and working on their relationship that much. Because you know they’re together so just go with it.” Like no? Fuck you? That’s not how this works?
FERGUS AND MARSALI DESERVE BETTER!
Of course Marsali’s preggo again. Why the fuck should she do anything but spit out babies. Also, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A PERFECT TIME TO HAVE THE FRASER KIDS TALK ABOUT TIME TRAVEL.
And Bree’s become a sister to Marsali? We saw one fucking scene of them together. See above rant. Fucking show us them becoming sisters. Sorry to interrupt your constant stream of violence and trauma, but fucking actually SHOWING characters building relationships instead of TELLING us they did the thing is how this is fucking supposed to work.
I’m rull pissed we never got quality Fraser kid bonding, y’all.
And ditto with this scene with Lizzie. We saw more of Bree and Lizzie than Bree and Marsali, but like we never really saw them becoming friendly post Bree’s rape and Rogergate.
All the goodbyes are like making me feel inch deep feelings because they’re rooted in nothing we’ve actually seen. And I’m not a Bad Fan or dumb for not filling in the feelings myself. I’m the viewer. It’s not my job to fill in the show’s gaps. It’s the show’s job not to have emotional gaps.
Oh hey! Another shitty man who hurts his wife and another woman trapped in a physically abusive relationship who thinks the abuse is her fault! On Outlander? Who’da thunk they’d have something like this?!
I’m so tired, y’all. So. Fucking. Tired.
I HOPE YOUNG IAN FINDS HAPPINESS TOO, ROGER.
Ok but for real, every time Lord John talks about how Willie and Bree are like Jamie it has that gross tinge to it. Like I know he’s not meaning it like a creeper, but they leaned so fucking hard into him being so into and not over Jamie that the layer of grossness is always there.
Also like, grannie and grandda, we got like one scene of Claire and Jamie playing with Jem. WE COULD HAVE FELT SO MANY MORE FEELINGS ABOUT THEM BEING SEPARATED IF ONLY THEY HAD TAKEN THE TIME TO BUILD THE RELATIONSHIPS ON SCREEN.
Claire making everyone PB&Js is fucking adorable and I love her.
Old timey forks will never not be fucking weird looking.
“And now it’s just you and me again.” Uh, Fergus, Marsali and Young Ian might be a tad offended by that sentiment, Clairebear.
Ok but like do they really think a rope is gonna hold up to fucking magic time travel rocks? It’s gotta just be like a mental security blanket thing, right? Because if not, loooooooooool.
Ok but the really just let their kiddo run off like that in the middle of the magic time travel rock circle? Dumbasses.
Ok but like what’s the betting they ended up in like a RenFest type thing and think they haven’t traveled but they have and it’s like lol look at them fitting in with their old timey clothes vs. skipping them going back to the future and doing the going adventuring around the even past-er past part but with them all together instead of Roger and Buck?
I’m just hoping it’s something completely different than the books because I have zero interest in Bree and Roger in the 20th century and hate the Roger and Buck nonsense with a fiery passion.
Erm, that’s a little close to the house to build a privy, my dudes.
Is the setting a guy’s dislocated shoulder thing supposed to be a cute callback? Because like hey wink wink, first she was kidnapped and then set a shoulder and now she’s setting a shoulder and then getting kidnapped is kind of a fucked up “joke.”
But how about we get more of Nurse!Marsali and less of Marsali just being constantly preggo.
“Sort of like the opposite of what you do when ya joint a hog.” I JUST LOVE NURSE!MARSALI A LOT OK.
Aaand now that we’re all good and docile little fans who have been placated with some fluff and Fraser fucking as a treat, we can go back to the regularly scheduled violence against women. Because we literally just had a violent abduction last week. So clearly it’s time for another.
Everything in this story has been done before...
I swear to fuck, if they do the thing I think they’re gonna do next week, I hope they get rightfully dragged by fucking everyone.
And if by some fucking miracle of Caitriona putting her foot down they don’t do the thing next week, they get zero brownie points. You don’t get rewarded for doing what you should have done the whole time.
And of course the closing is Jamie lighting Flaming Dildo 2.0. His men swore oaths to him, not any government or crown, and protecting his family has always been the top thing for Jamie. So good choice there with saving Claire being the reason he calls up the men.
New figure skating season is finally starting! I’m beyond excited to see all my faves competing again. Here’s the link to the SP of russian test skate and ooofff, those were some good short skates (also the free skates, you should check them out!)
the following are my thoughts on some of the ladies (pls don’t expect too much, I’m not a skater myself, I just happen to love the artistry of figure skating for a few years now xx)
Evgenia Medvedeva - I was really both scared and excited to see her new programs and I’m really surprised that I like them. They are more her style than the ones of last season and even tho they are not perfect yet (lol it’s the test skate after all) I really love the beginnig of her short program, it’s so..captivating!
Her skating and especially her flow seem to be improved as well! To be honest tho, since Orser I tend to miss flowy transitions in her choreos but maybe they will add some in the future. I can’t really say too much about her jumping skill but they also seemed to be improved but it’s still gonna take its time (as a musician, I know how much time and devotion it takes to relearn posture etc. when you have done it a lot differently your whole life, it’s sooo crazy how time consuming it is and how extremely patient you have to be).
With Eteri’s girls in her back tho, I doubt that she’s gonna be successful this season. Yet, she will stay on the ice for sure since she has an huuuge fanbase (me included lol)
Alena Kostornaia - I’m happy that she’s keeping her SP since I really fell in love with its music and her flow in it. She’s really the most fascinating skater out there, not gonna lie. I cannot believe how she has this kind of incredible flow and musicality, I really hope that she’s gonna do great this season. Also, I’m really relieved that she seems to be recovered from her most recent injuries.
Her FS tho is not exactly my favourite (I’m really the type for those really emotional and minimalistic piano programs haha), I like the beginning but the edit to the more funky part of the music seemed kind of odd. I don’t know, I’m happy for her that she is able to show her versatility through that but I’m not exactly sure how that is gonna work in competition.
Alexandra Trusova - first of all: she never was my favourite since I favour musicality and beautiful choreo over jumps since it’s called figure skating and not jump skating (yeah I know, jumps are also part of the sport but let’s be honest: figure skating is also kind of an art and as a musician, I think it’s wayyy more important to be in time with the music and to show your ability to touch the audience with your performance than showing off your skill of jumping, just my opinion). So, I actually was kind of suprised by her choice of music, since it’s more on the emotional side and I also think that she improved with her musicality quite a lot. Yet, many parts of the choreo still seem kind of sloppy and not really flowy. I’m curious how she’s gonna do in competition since her quads are admittedly quite incredible.
Anna Shcherbakova - I love her flow and gurrrl, her short program was mesmerising! The music, her flow and her choreo - so spooky and beautiful! I’m excited how she’s gonna do even tho she doesn’t really seem like a senior yet.
aaand Alina Zagitova - oooff, I was really surprised by her porgrams. Idk but the music of both the SP and FS really were something different. But I think, she is able to pull it off buut I think they kind of did her dirty when comparing her to the other Eteri girls.
I loved the Arabic touch tho and her choreos did not seem as packed and rushed than before,I really enjoyed that since she had some beautiful postures in between.
last but not least I want to add that the other skaters also were super skilled skaters and are much underappreciated? I want to mention their names but everything was in Russian, so hmm sorry, I unfortunately can’t. Also, I can’t really say that much to them because I don’t really know them. Since I don’t have that much time to dig into the huge hole of figure skating that much, I tend to only notice the mainstream skaters but I really should look into them!
#russian figure skating#russian test skates#season 2019/20#figure skating#evgenia medvedeva#alina zagitova#alexandra trusova#alena kostornaia#anna shcherbakova#eteri tutberidze#brian orser#quadskates#beautiful choreography#excited
Rave Reviews for “What's It Gonna Be?” by KSQ!
great work and I even like the 2h. … GURRRL, this must be my lucky day!!! I was waiting for a new fanfic of yours, I'm soooo happy right now. Can't wait to read this :) … I absolutely adore your writing. Thank you for this lovely story!!! Xoxo … Was so excited to read this, I love your fics. And you definitely did not disappoint. I loved this!! … very cute story. … I loved it. I actually really liked the song, so when I saw you made a fic out of it I got so stoked! Aside from the slight confusion, it was great! … I really like this. The premise gave much to offer and you explored that in the rest of the tale. I liked that Robin and Emma's voices were different from each other and that they were close enough to be best friends, but still needed time to themselves to figure out their feelings.. … I’m not sure if I’ve ever read a fic where Robin and Emma are best friends. It is certainly a unique dynamic, and I think it made this fic just a little more vibrant because of it. I really enjoyed the characterizations. … Omg this was amazing! Sorry I’m behind on all my story reading rn and not too active online but I will catch up. I really loved how cute Regina and Emma are together and I do have a soft spot for an older Regina so this was perfect. I cannot wait to see your other stories. … Very interesting premise. It's funny that Regina knew about the game. I also like how smooth both Regina and Killian are in comparison to how much of a mess both Emma and Robin are. … Fun story! Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed this fic? Be sure to give back and feed the author! A happy, appreciated author is one who’s going to be more motivated to gift us all with more of their words.
Party Prompt Fic #10
@musicmandy1991
Prompt: “I couldn’t take my eyes off you from across the ballroom.”
Bones x reader
“Who’s that man over there?” You hissed to your close friend Becky in the middle of a good gossip session. The two of you were catching up and commenting on the varied fashions present at the royal ball.
“What man?” She asked, craning her neck to get a look. But the man who’d caught your eye and had held it for nearly a full minute was not there.
“Never mind,” you sighed, suppressing your disappointment. “I’ll point him out if I see him again, but he is GORGEOUS, with a capital G.”
“What kind of gorgeous?” Inquired your friend, looking very interested.
“The tall intense brunette type,” you said. “It was like he could see right through me with his gaze, but his eyes are so…..hypnotizing...I just couldn’t look away.”
“Oh, wow. You’ve got it bad already. What’s he wearing? Maybe I can help find him.”
“A Dark blue suit and red sash. I think he’s one of the nobles,” you told her, eyes roaming for sign of the stunning stranger.
“Gurrrl, you aim high!” Becky praised, gleam in her eye growing bigger as she high-fived you. “And I’ll be on the lookout.”
The two of you split up to roam the room socializing and hobbobbing with the upper crust, all the while keeping an eye out for him.
You were enjoying a refreshing beverage when a voice spoke by your side.
“Pardon me ma’am, but what’s a lovely lady like yourself standing around all lonely?” You turned and came face to face with the stunning man you’d locked eyes with earlier. Your mouth went dry. He was even more gorgeous close up and was wearing a tiny smirk that showed a deep dimple in his tanned chin.
“Well,” you said, returning his look with a coquettish one of your own. “I was looking for a certain fellow that caught my eye.”
“Oh? What I happy coincidence. I just so happen to be searching for the gorgeous woman I spotted a few minutes ago. I couldn’t take my eyes off you from across the ballroom.”
You shivered as he uttered the last sentence almost right in your ear. Oh, my.
“Would it be inappropriate of me to ask for a dance, my lord?”
“Not at all,” he murmured. “But please, call me Leonard.”
I invite you to give another shot to the Disney Brothers - The New Album, Happiness Begins
Hi my dear classmates!
In this post I’m going to be introducing you to my favorite -and the latest- album by the Jonas Brothers: Happiness Begins. This is the first album they recorded after their comeback, and it was everything I ever hoped (and all the other fans I know have the same opinion). I’ve been a fan of the brothers since I was eight years old, when I was just a little girl watching Disney Channel. The first song I ever listened was “Kids of the Future” (it was a cover) and I fell in love. Without further ado, let’s talk about the album.
This is the fifth studio album by my beloved brothers, and it was released on June 7, 2019, by Republic Records. While everyone thinks it’s some sort of R&B, reggae fusion or something, I believe it’s 100% Pop. The sound is completely different from their previous albums that sticked to -or tried- pop-rock or pop-punk, this one is a bit on the “dancey” side and it has a similar sound to Joe Jonas’s band, DNCE, and the solo albums by Nick Jonas. I love this album because it has an intimate sound and I feel like they really enjoyed making it and they had fun with it, going back to basics of just being brothers having fun and making music together. It’s like they fell in love with each other’s company again, celebrating life, love, and music as a family. They were again, the three charming, charismatic, and lovable man that I fell for at my teenage years.
Okay, I’ll stop rambling and I’ll go down to business.
1. Sucker
This was their comeback song. It was the single that made us say: OMG. How the tables have turned. They’re back at it again. And oh- A new album. *cries*
This song overwhelms me with emotion and energy. It’s one of my favorites. Also, it makes my body involuntarily move and get up to dance. The rhythm is AMAZING, and it is SO catchy it’ll get stuck in your head for days. To be honest, it doesn’t have a lot of “content” or great storytelling like Taylor Swift’s albums, but it’s so good to just jump in your room and let go. Also, the video is so fun because it is just them having fun with their wives in a deserted mansion. Sophie Turner, Priyanka Chopra, and Danielle Jonas >>> everything.
2. Cool
This one it’s not a fan favorite and neither a favorite of mine, but it’s nice to just lay back and chill in your room. I feel like it’s a summer song, that you can listen to while eating (or drinking?) ice cream and your room while the fan is on. Also, it has a lot of great references to Post Malone and to Game of Thrones. It sounds really pop but also has a calm ring to it, I don’t know how to describe it. You have to listen to it to know what I mean. The music video is also really fun because they’re having a concert in a beach to elderly people. It includes Nick Jonas buried in the sun in some sort of SpongeBob style so that’s also a plus.
3. Only Human
THIS ONE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES, oh my. This one really makes me all wired up and makes me want to go to a club with my friends and dance all night. It has some sort of reggae vibes with the trumpets on the background. The synthetic keyboard reminds me of songs like “Take on Me” by a-Ha, you know what I mean? Like 80’-90’ songs that sound like computer-y. Also, before the chorus it says, “so come on and dance, dance, DANCE” and I feel like I’m obligated to jump around and make a mess. The video is just them performing this song live and having fun but, I have to say it, they look SO HANDSOME.
4. I Believe
We got to the fourth song of the album. This one is calmer and chill, but with a great beat. I’m going to tell you more about the background: it was written by the younger brother, Nick, and it’s dedicated to his wife, Priyanka Chopra. He said that it was like a love letter to her, stating in the song “cause you showed me something I can’t live without, I believe”. This song is amazing for when you want to feel in love and in the clouds, like you’re floating in an ocean of good wishes and love letters. I really like this song; it brings nice memories to me and I feel like it has really cute lyrics.
5. Used to Be
This is not one of my favorites, but it holds a special place in my heart because I think it has a lot of emotions in it. I read somewhere that it was written to Demi Lovato, implying that they missed the person she was before, and reminiscing to old memories with her. It’s also a lot calmer than the first two songs, which made me realize they started with songs to dance and really upbeat, but as we progress it gets a lot more peaceful and quieter. I really like this song, when I listen to it, I like to imagine I’m on a road trip, remembering old friends and old loves, thinking what could have been but it couldn’t be. It’s a nice experience. If you listen to the album, I recommend you imagine the same when you get to this song.
6. Every Single Time
Ok. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this song. I feel like it’s reaaaally different from what I’m used to with the brothers, so I think that’s why I can’t enjoy it as much as the other songs, but I think it’s really good too. It has, again, that sort of soft reggae sound mixed with pop, and a lot of repetition of lyrics, which makes it really catchy. With this song I feel like I’m in a beach party, just dancing by myself and getting my feet wet with the ocean water. I’m describing feelings with the songs because I think it’s more personal, and I can transmit to you the way it makes me feel and can make you feel. Also, it didn’t have a lot of hype in the fandom for the same reason I mentioned before, but maybe, if you haven’t listened to the Jonas Brothers before, you can enjoy it, because it has a smooth and soft rhythm that makes it really nice to listen to.
7. Don’t Throw it Away
Yay, we’ve made it to the half of the album. I’m already dancing in my seat while writing this. I CAN’T HELP IT I really like this song. This one it’s more upbeat like the first songs, but it’s also about some sort of lost love, the one that could have been but unfortunately, can’t be. It’s like screaming to the other person that’s leaving; this thing we have, don’t throw it away, don’t forget about me, we can work this out. I know, it sounds a little tragic, but the rhythm, the beats in the background and their voices is just *chef kiss*.
8. Love Her
This one is about -you guessed it- love. At first, I didn’t like it, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. It makes you feel like you’re in a warm embrace with someone you love and feel comfortable with. This one’s a lot more acoustic and it reminds me of the older albums, so it makes me feel nostalgic and makes me want to cry a little, just because I think of the old times when I was just a teenager in love with Joe Jonas. The instrumental consists in sounds like snaps of the fingers and some guitar picking, and the angelic voice of Nick Jonas is a really nice complement. It’s about unconditional love and finding the so acclaimed “the one”. I really like it, it’s really sweet and, in contrast with the previous songs, I feel like it’s more autumn-y.
9. Happy When I’m Sad
We’re back at the upbeat songs and really energic instrumentals, with some guitar, bass, and drums. I feel like this song is some sort of “fuck you” to the paparazzi and the media. It’s about other people assuming how you feel and how you are doing based in what you show to the world, and like “the other side” of being a celebrity. I don’t know, maybe I’m reading too much into it. I really like to listen to it when I’m feeling kind of ~edgy~ and submerging in teen angst because ugh, no one knows how I really feel, but also improves my mood, so it’s kind of weird, but I enjoy it a lot.
10. Trust
I LOVE THIS SONG. I think it has some sort of sexy undertone, starting with some electric guitar and the phrase “I don’t trust myself when I’m around you”. Like GURRRL you are dangerous, get away from me because, how the lyrics say, “you are bad for my health”. It’s like you are so attracted to this person that you can’t control how you act around them (obviously, with consent, folks). Maybe I’m getting too personal here, but I believe it makes a GREAT stripping song. I also really like it because in their previous albums they weren’t allowed to talk about sex or even make a suggestive lyric because of their contract with Disney, so I feel like they’re exploring something they couldn’t before and really enjoying it. If you want to feel sexy and seductive, I recommend you listen to this song.
11. Strangers
I like this song because when I think of it, it comes to my head the “STRANGEEERS” they shout in the chorus. We’re back at the drums and synthetic sound, but I don’t think it’s a song to dance like a maniac, I feel like it’s a song to think and reflect about the people that were really close to you in some era of your life but, because of different reasons, aren’t anymore, and they just became another stranger. It’s good to reminiscing old times, crying a bit if you just went through a breakup, or just chill in your room staring into space. It has a nice calm rhythm on the verses and it just sorts of explodes on the chorus, so it’s really fun to listen.
12. Hesitate
Okay, it’s time to cry people. This song. THIS SONG. I’m crying while I’m writing this. I’m going to give you some background again. This song was written by Joe Jonas for her wife and mother of his child, the wonderful actress Sophie Turner. It was inspired because she was going through depression and this song was to show her that he will always be with her, accompanying her through the worst times, and they will make it out of this together. It’s a really emotional song with some peaceful instrumentals, some drums and I can hear a bit of piano. This song is absolutely beautiful, and it has so beautiful writing, you can feel the emotion while you listen to it and it sounds like Joe will burst into tears in any minute of the song. My favorite lyrics are “I thank the oceans for giving me you. You saved me once and now I’ll saved you too. I won’t hesitate for you”. I think it shows how couples support and love each other, regarding their flaws or the obstacles they face as a couple or as individuals, so it’s really, really beautiful. You will love this, I’m sure.
13. Rollercoaster
This is my favorite song of the album. It’s the one they used to promote their comeback documental “Chasing Happiness” and it was teased at the trailer. I remember listening to it for the first time and feeling like I’m in a dream because my babies were back (sorry, bit of a fangirl moment here). It reminds me of the old albums like “Lines, Vines and Trying Times”. I feel like it’s so cheerful but emotional at the same time and it makes you feel hopeful, like everything’s going to pass and it’ll all be okay again. I listen to this song when I need to feel better while I’m going through a rough patch in my life or when I just feel sad and it really helps. The sound is a bit more pop-rock, but it also has some synthetic sounds that make it sound nostalgic. I feel like it’s them realizing they can have a good time with music again and trying to save the happy and shining moments of their success. I LOVE IT.
14. Comeback
This is the last song of the official album and I feel like it’s perfect closure. It also has that old Jonas Brothers vibe, on the pop-rock side with an amazing beat, marked by the drums. I don’t know where I read that it was made for the fans and it completely makes sense to me. Like it’s them saying “hey, I’m back, and I hope you’re back with us too”. It’s a really hopeful song that can be also translated to other moments of life, like trying to get back with an old love or re encountering with an old friend. I think the lyrics are gorgeous and I feel they were trying to get the trust of the fans back when they say “Baby, if you stay then I won’t let you down (…) Baby, if you come back now, I’ll come back to you”.
Well, that was my review and invitation for you to listen to this amazing album that maybe isn’t the best pop album of the decade, but it can cheer you up, make you dance a little and reflect on different moments of your life. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
Love, Lisbeth Suárez.
Here I am gurrrl. I feel like such an awful stalker. I swear to you I'm not. So... Veredict on mindhunter? I've been watching Nobel on Netflix, but I don't know if I should continue. Have you seen it? Do you have other shows to recommend?
I didn’t sign my ask! I’m terrible. Sex in Norway anon (btw, thank you for recommending all stories are echoes. So good).
Hiiii dear! Please don’t feel like you have to cater to my craving for attention, hahaha. I hope you’re well, fave anon :)
I like Mindhunter a lot! It has a streak of humour I enjoy, it’s not all bleakness (or worse, forced cheesy “fun”) like that kind of show sometimes is. I’ve only watched a few episodes yet, though. Have you seen all of it? What do you think?
I haven’t seen Nobel because Aksel fucking Hennie. It feels like he’s the lead in every fucking film and many TV shows here and I’m sick of him. Sorry Aksel, but that’s how it is. It’s supposedly very good (you know more about that than I do, obvs) but I have too much on my to-watch list as it is, so anything Aksel Hennie goes on the very bottom of that list, sorry.If you like spy shows I DO INDEED have a recommendation, Berlin Station. Richard Armitage and Rhys Ifans play the most important parts, and S1 made me develop a massive crush on amazing actor Sabin Tambrea. It’s a pain in the ass for me to find somewhere legal to watch S2, which is in full swing, but S1 is available on Netflix in some countries.
I’m so happy you liked ASAE (everybody should love it ofc but not everybody will). I’m not at all okay with it being finished now.
It was a coincidence that I found this fan art right before I found this fic on AO3, and I definitely let out a squeal when I realized they were created by the same person! The aesthetic of Zero G and G Zero is killing me in the best way, I can’t get over how much I enjoy that.
The fic is Supernova by annerbananer and I loved the characterizations of Bakugou and Uraraka so much. I’m kind of a sucker for the idea that these two would identify any attraction between them as a desire to fight and get better first, rather than a romantic desire. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the fics where they know what they want and go for it, but there’s something that’s a little more heightened and exciting to me when they’re sparring and then...there’s a realization of something more.
I also really enjoyed Uraraka thinking about the difference in her feelings for Midoriya versus Bakugou. I think it makes a lot of sense for Midoriya to be put on a pedestal by Uraraka, and Class 1A in general. Which is why I’m just like “GET IT GURRRL!” when she notices and likes Bakugou treating her like an equal.
I just...Kacchako is also my ship and I can’t stop.
God is a Woman | Long Live the King
I lie awake at night just thinking about how terrifying Ochako is going to be when she finally SNAPS, her quirk fully awakens, and she can fly with ease and casually drop the earth on you for breakfast. Horikoshi let’s chat cuz I need the timeline.
Katsuki knows a powerhouse when he sees one and you know he’s gonna love teaming up with Uravity just for the aesthetic alone. Zero G and G Zero? Villains are SHOOK. Name a more intimidating hero duo, I’ll wait.
Kacchako is my ship. I enjoy them so much. <3
Gurrrl ya gotta make a post cw fic out of that "make u feel my love" fic where ita totally unrequited on tony's end
Ha! It could jsut be a one-shot - I have a guilty pleasure for non con fics where one partner is forced to enjoy it - but it could also be an interesting fic where Tony has to deal with the aftermath of being raped by someone he once idolized, especially since Steve is telling anyone who listens that it was 100% consensual. It could ultimately end up as gen, winteriron, starkquill, ironpanther. But the focus is on Tony trying to move past (with all the victim blaming) and sometimes doubting his own memories; maybe Steve was right and maybe he DID want it... but he didn’t... kind of like an MCU version of that Sherlock fic I wrote once.
