would always be the first to volunteer to do something risky though

would most likely make fun of and tease you from time to time for being paranoid

wouldn’t really be a leader but definitely always the one chosen to help with attacking and staying on watch

he’s very expressive so you always know when he doesn’t agree with someone

the one that would actually stand up and say something about an issue , a lot of debating

the hope of the group. the world is fucked but at least sunoo keeps what’s left of his humanity alive.

might hesitate to kill.

jungwon🧟‍♂️

ofc because he’s such a good leader, he would naturally take on some sort of leadership role.

always the one giving out ideas, coming up with solutions, makes very logical decisions.

peacekeeper of the group- usually ends any fights that come up between you all.

wouldn’t leave a soul behind. very defensive of his group. would struggle to kill someone he knew.

sunghoon🧟‍♂️

probably always trying to crack jokes at the wrong times. the comedic relief of the group.

protective, but fearful. takes him a while to warm up to killing.

fast and flexible, slips away from close calls too often. causes trouble by being too honest.

follows others lead rather than his own, sticking by someone at all times.

jake🧟‍♂️

most likely hard to keep him quiet, screams without meaning to.

similar to niki, he might pretend he isn’t scared but he very much is. the only difference is that jake isn’t good at hiding it.

the one who dosent let go of his faith and hope. always thinking of a brighter side, but oftentimes conflicted.

very athletic and smart. solves hard situations along side jungwon, backing him up. best at scavenging.

jay🧟‍♂️

very very quiet. it’s easy for him to take responsibility of mistakes and deaths, even if it wasn’t his fault. blames himself too much.

good at spying and keeping watch, keeps everyone fed the best he can.

short temper of the group, easily gets frustrated in tough situations but it’s out of concern and love.

so protective he would sacrifice himself for the safety of you and the group- which might unfortunately lead to his quick death.

heeseung🧟‍♂️

people look to him a lot for answers and guidance, but he hates making any decisions or any leadership role.

another quiet one, but most likely acts on his feelings more often than logic.

asks a lot of questions, and he’s probably the flirt of the group alongside jake.

never thought he would be doing this shit outside of video games, but thanks to his gaming addiction, he knows a lot of handy tricks.

The Mafia Boss ~ Chapter three

In a dimly lit room, sat the Enhypen members. Well, not all of them. Six out of seven were sitting around a table playing poker. Each of them laughing and having a good time, relaxing with their day off. Down the hall, in another room, sat the boss, Park Sunghoon. He sat in his office, a glass of whiskey in his right hand as he stares at the wooden door in front of him. A knock breaks the male out of his train of thought.

"Enter." He mumbles as the door slowly opens. When it opens fully, Sunghoon sees his younger sister, Beatrix, or Bea, standing there.

"What's the matter, Bea?" Sunghoon asks as the younger female walks in.

"We have no food. I was gonna head to the store then remembered you'll go crazy if I leave on my own." Beatrix responds.

"No shit." He responds, downing his drink.

"So you gonna take me, or I ask one of the others?" Beatrix replies.

"The guys are happily playing poker, I'm busy and your not going alone, so its not happening." Sunghoon responds, going to get another glass of whiskey.

Beatrix goes over, blocking her much taller brother from the alcohol cabinet. The elder looks down at his sibling.

"Move, Bea. I want another drink." Sunghoon instructs but Beatrix doesn't move.

"No, all you do is your job and drink in here. Its horrible Hoon! The others are having fun playing poker and probably smoking weed and your hiding away! Plus you have a drinking problem!" Beatrix exclaims.

"I'm not hiding away, sis." Sunghoon mumbles.

"Oh really, the past three years you've turned into this cold person! Your not the same Hoon, not since Y/n left." Beatrix responds.

Sunghoon glares down at his younger sister. He knows if that was anyone else who said they, they would have a bullet in their head. But this being his little sister, Sunghoon just gently pushes her to the side.

"Go get Niki and head to the store. You have you an hour before I think the worse." Sunghoon said, pouring himself another drink.

Beatrix sighs, knowing she can't fight her brother. She leaves the room, heading to the games rom. She sees all the others sitting around laughing. Niki sitting to the side watching the others play.

"Hey Bea." The youngest calls as the female enters. The others give her a wave, focused on their game.

"Hi, Hoon has said we have an hour to go to the store before he thinks the worse. He said to take you." Beatrix tells the Japanese male.

"Alright, you go wait by the door while I get my things together." Niki tells the female.

Beatrix nods and heads off to wait for Niki by the front door. As she leaves the room, the five other males turn to the youngest.

"Keep her by your side at all times. At least five knives." Jungwon instructs.

"Course, Hyung." Niki replies.

He leaves the games room, heading to his bedroom. He quickly grabs five knives, slipping them into his pockets of his jackets and jeans, putting an extra in his boot.

Heading downstairs, to the main entrance of the large mansion the gang live in, Niki sees Beatrix waiting. He gives her a smile as the two leave the warm home. Niki knows its just a small trip to the store, but anything could happen.

your cramps were painful to the extreme that night and you couldn't help but move from side to side

he'll whisper words of reassurance that the pain will go away

first day of your cycle? no need to worry, he's already stocked your feminine needs in the bathroom

he knows you have cramps in the middle of the night?

before you guys head to bed, he already has pain killers and a bottle of water ready for you by your side of the bed

because he is so prepared, i highly doubt you would have trouble falling asleep

but if it ever does happen, he would probably talk to you all night to get your mind off the pain

would also prepare one of those hot water packs for your stomach as well

jake is a literal sweetheart, but i feel like this kind of situation he would freak out

he would confirm your needs by asking so many questions

tbh his variety of questions is enough for you to forget about the pain

would also offer to massage your stomach

but like, you can barely feel if his hand is on your stomach

because he's treating you so gently, he's afraid to apply pressure

but his soft touch is enough to lull you back to sleep

This time you sprang up from your bed, sweating bullets. Sobs escaped your mouth, as you remembered the horrifying nightmare you had just woken up from.

“Bad dream?” You suddenly heard Heeseung’s voice murmur in a sleepy voice. You almost forgot that he was staying over tonight.

You grabbed a tissue from your nightstand and blew your nose, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up.”

Heeseung sat up and gently stroked your hair in hopes to comfort you, “You’ve been having a lot of nightmares lately. Is everything okay?”

“This week has been so stressful,” You said honestly. “And you know stupid me always overthinks every little thing.”

Heeseung caressed your cheek, “One, you’re not stupid and two, do you want to talk about it?”

You shook your head, “No it’s okay. I’m okay.”

“Are you sure? Do you need anything?”

You nodded, “Just...just hold me please.”

If Heeseung was more awake he probably would’ve smiled at what you said. He happily brought you to lay back down on the bed and held you as you asked him to. You instantly felt better by his warmth and touch.

“Good night Jagiya,” He whispered.

You snuggled closer so your head could rest in the crook of his neck, before pecking his lips.

“Night, Heedeungie.”

You really didn’t want to go to Jay’s dorm at 11 pm, when it was nearly midnight. Especially because he probably had a hectic schedule today and he needed to sleep. But here you were, pathetically standing at his front door wearing only a thin sweatshirt, shorts, and sliders.

“Noona? I didn’t know you were coming,” Niki was the one who answered the door.

You tried to smile at the younger boy, “I’m sorry...but is Jay home?”

Fortunately, Jay had already headed toward the entrance after Niki went to answer the door. His heart rate increased when he recognized your voice. He motioned for Niki to let him know he could handle this. The maknae nodded and carried on with his nightly routine.

“Jagiya, what are you doing here?” He asked without thinking. “I mean not that I mind at all.”

For a few seconds, you looked at Jay who looked exhausted, most likely due to hours of dance practice. You regretted why you even came here in the first place when Jay and his members needed to rest.

“I-I...it’s not a big deal actually,” You lied. “I’m sorry for bothering you guys at this hour, I’ll just leave-”

But Jay took your hand before you could take off, “No you’re not bothering us. Stay.”

When your eyes met his own, he could tell that you need him right now. He knew better than to let you slip away like this when you clearly weren’t okay. He could care less if it was late.

He knew it must’ve been really bad because you never came to him like this. Usually, you kept to yourself. He felt a little guilty for feeling happy that you finally came to him.

“Were your parents fighting again?” He asked after bringing you into the dorm’s living room. He gestured for you to come to sit beside him so he could bear hug you.

“Yeah…” You replied, almost inaudibly. “My d-dad was cursing at my mom and she was saying really hurtful things.”

“And you couldn’t sleep?”

“Yeah pretty much…” You gave a half-suppressed laugh. You always made it seem like a joke when you were talking about your struggles. It was how you coped.

You wiped away tears that fell without you knowing, “I don’t understand why they don’t divorce already. Our family is already a wreck.”

“If I could make everything better with the snap of my fingers, I swear I would (Y/n),” Jay gently moved your head so you could rest on his shoulder.

You wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him tighter, “Can I stay here, just for tonight? I promise I’ll leave first thing in the morning.”

“You can stay here as long as you want Jagiya,” Jay kissed your temple. “Hell, you could even move in with us if you want.”

“Jay, you know your managers will not allow that.”

Jay shrugged, “I’m sure we could work something out. Besides, I need someone to help me cook for these six children.”

He smiled when he saw you laugh at his humor. At least you were feeling a little bit better.

“But seriously, you’re always welcome here,” Jay said. “Don’t you ever feel like you’re bothering me because you’re not, okay?”

“(Y/n)-ah, I made some ramyeon for us!” Jake came over to you with a steaming pot. You weakly smiled when the puppy came to sit down next to you at the table.

“I’m sorry Jake,” You said quietly. “But I’m not hungry.”

Jake set the food in front of you and pouted, “Really? But this is your favorite!”

“That’s why you should eat deliciously for the both of us,” You encouraged, patting his shoulder.

“Jagiya, I know you’ve been skipping meals recently.”

In contrast to his words, the kindness in Jake’s voice didn’t change in the slightest. You could hear the genuine concern in it though.

You’ve never had such a sweet boyfriend like Jake before. He always wanted to take care of you as much as you took care of him. So whenever something felt off about you to him, he immediately wanted to find the cause so he could help.

“I’m just on a diet, Jakey,” You ruffled his hair, trying to downplay the situation. “I’ve been wanting to lose some weight.”

“Diet?! Why?” Jake was so confused. He had never seen you like this before. “You don’t have any weight to lose, Jagi.”

You avoided eye contact, looking down at your hands.

“I just don’t like the way I look okay?” You said in almost a whisper. “I want to be pretty like all those girls in the k-pop groups.”

“But you’re just as pretty as they are, (Y/n)-ah,” Jake said, not understanding how you could think you weren’t. He absolutely adored you.

“Did someone say something? Is that why you’re dieting?”

You quickly shook your head, “No, not at all. I was just looking through Instagram the other day and I got insecure.”

“I understand how you feel. But you’re perfect the way you are,” Jake said. He made sure to be careful with his words because he didn’t want you to feel hurt.

“And you shouldn’t starve yourself,” He added, taking his chopsticks and twirling some noodles around them. “It’s not healthy and I don’t want you getting sick.”

“Jake…” You looked petulant when your boyfriend held up some food to your mouth.

“Please eat. Just one bite, I promise!”

You just couldn’t resist those brown puppy eyes of his, could you? With a defeated sigh, you let Jake feed you. When you did, he kissed you happily on the lips.

“That’s my girl!”

“What’s wrong?” Sunghoon asked when he saw the look on your face. It was a mix between mild panic and disappointment.

Your eyes didn’t leave your phone, “I-I got 0.5 off on my math test.”

“What? That’s pretty good!” Sunghoon smiled, thinking that you were happy. But you weren’t, you really weren’t.

You knew that everyone hated that overachiever type of person who got angry when they got anything lower than an A. But it wasn’t just that for you. The standards you brought onto yourself was anything you did that was less than a 100, was considered a failure in your eyes.

“I-I don’t know what I did wrong. I should’ve studied harder,” You started to ramble to yourself. “Damn it, now my grade is going to lower.”

Sunghoon’s smile was crestfallen when he heard this. He knew how much of a perfectionist you can be but he didn’t think it was to this extent.

“(Y-Y/n)-ah, are you crying?”

You quickly swiped your cheek with the back of your hand, “I-I’m sorry. It’s just I really want to get straight As by the end of this semester.”

“I know you do. You’ve been working so hard,” Sunghoon said, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. “But you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself Jagi.”

“I know...but I can’t help it,” You said, trying to keep your voice stable. “I just feel like I could do so much better.”

Your boyfriend sighed, wanting to cheer you up. He understood the feeling of not being good enough.

“It’s okay to want to improve,” He told you. “But your grades don’t determine who you are (Y/n)-ah. You can fail a class and I’d still think you’re the smartest person I know.”

You couldn’t help but laugh at Sunghoon’s ridiculous statement, “You’re just saying that because you’re my boyfriend.”

“No, I mean it,” Sunghoon insisted. A teasing glint appeared in his eyes. “Should I show you that I mean it?”

“Sunghoon I don’t think-” You tried to say before Sunghoon shut you up with a passion-filled kiss.

He was going to make sure you knew how much he truly admired you, no matter what your expectations of yourself were.

“Stop acting like you’re better than me,” your younger sister retorted. “At least I’m not the one who cuts myself!”

Sunoo watched as your face turned red at her sister’s hurtful words. You wanted to scream and tell your sister to shut up and that she didn’t know what she was saying. But you knew that you wouldn’t be making anything better. So you stormed into your bedroom.

Sunoo quickly ran after you, “(Y/n)-ah!”

He made sure to close the door when he entered the bedroom. There you were with your head in your hands, trying not to pull your hair out.

“(Y/n)-ah…” Sunoo slowly walked over to hug you because he knew you needed one.

Tears streamed down your cheeks, “I-I can’t believe...I can’t believe she said that to my face. Sh-she has no idea how crappy I feel.”

“I know,” Sunoo spoke softly, gently patting your back. “Don’t listen to what she said about you.”

You pulled away but still held his hand, “I’m sorry you had to see that.”

“It’s okay,” Sunoo reassured you. “I’m right here by your side. So you can just let it all out alright?”

You giggled when he peppered your face with kisses. He always did that whenever you were feeling down.

“Thank you, Sunoo-yah.”

JUNGWON

It was late in the evening and you two were the only ones still awake at the dorm. You had come over earlier to bring them food and by the time everyone finished eating, it was too dark out. So Jungwon insisted that you stay the night.

That’s what brought you two sitting together on the sofa and just talking. One of Jungwon’s favorite things to do with you was to cuddle and talk for hours. You always listened to whatever was on his mind, whether it was good or bad.

But tonight was different because Jungwon wanted to listen to you talk. He didn’t want you to think that he didn’t care about your life and how you were doing. So you just told him about school and how things were going at home. Somehow the topic traveled to your mental health which was something you hated talking about with others.

“It’s okay, Jagi,” Jungwon reassured you. “You can talk to me, I promise not to judge.”

You let out a shaky sigh, “To be honest I haven’t been doing that great.”

Jungwon sat up straighter so he could listen to what you had to say. Just by your first sentence, he could tell that you’ve been holding in a lot of feelings.

“I just hate myself so much,” You confessed quietly. “And I know, I know there’s something wrong with me.

Even though he wanted to say something, he stayed silent and placed his hand on top of yours.

“But I’m afraid to get help because my-my mom has anxiety and my sister has her own problems and I-I know it’s hard for my dad to handle,” You added, feeling tears build up.

You mentally cursed yourself, you didn’t want to cry in front of Jungwon but your heart wasn’t listening to you. You couldn’t hold it in, no matter how hard you tried. Jungwon held your hand tighter when the first tears fell.

“I don’t want...I don’t want to be a burden to them and I don’t want them to see me as weak. So I decided that when I’m older I can find out what’s wrong with me. But...but sometimes I’m afraid that the longer I wait...the longer I wait...I’m scared that something bad will happen.”

At this point, any walls you had built to protect yourself were taken down. You usually never let yourself be vulnerable in front of someone. You don’t know why you were being so emotional right now. Maybe...maybe it was because you had bottled it all for so long and everything has piled up until now.

Nonetheless, Jungwon didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around you. He felt upset with himself because he didn’t know you were feeling like this and he wished he had known sooner.

You harshly wiped your tears away and sniffed, “I don’t even care anymore, Jungwon-ah. I’m fine and I’m...I’m sorry for telling you all this.”

“Why are you sorry?” He frowned. “I’m your boyfriend, so you should tell me these things. I’m sorry if I made you feel like you couldn’t.”

Jungwon held you tighter and kissed your forehead, “If you ever want to get help, I’m right here for you. And if you don’t then just come to me whenever you need to.”

You listened quietly to Jungwon’s comforting words and let the warmth of his hug envelop you. For the first time, you didn’t regret spilling out your heart to someone. Then just thinking about Jungwon made you realize that-

“You’re not alone Jagiya. I may not understand everything you’re going through but I love you a lot and I don’t want you to feel like a burden anymore, because you’re not.”

“You love me, Jungwon?”

Jungwon looked into your eyes for a moment before he leaned down to kiss you tenderly.

“More than you and I could ever imagine.”

Niki didn’t know what to think when he found you sitting on the floor, hopelessly crying in the dance practice room. You had been here since last night, trying to perfect this one choreography. But you kept making the same mistake no matter how hard you practiced. At this point, you were losing confidence and breaking down.

Niki kneeled in front of you, “(Y/n)-ah?”

“I keep screwing up this one part in the dance Niki,” You cried out in frustration.

Niki gently reached his hand to wipe your tears, “Don’t cry, (Y/n)-ah. It’s okay.”

“No it’s not okay,” You said in denial. “If I don’t get this dance right, I won’t be able to debut. And-and then I’ll let my members down, my managers, and you.”

“(Y/n)-ah, you’re going to debut. I know you are,” Niki tried to encourage you. “Everyone has those off days, even me.”

You had stopped crying by now, which left Niki feeling relieved. Still, he made sure to hug you.

“Let’s just take a break,” He said. “I promise to help you with the choreography later, okay?”

He smiled when you nodded and cutely sniffed like a bunny rabbit. He wasn’t used to taking care of others, but he learned a lot from watching his hyungs. So just like his hyungs, he was going to make sure that you didn’t overwork yourself.

Taken ~ Chapter six

Y/n POV

Thea just led me out the meeting room. She hasn't said a word but I continue following her. She leads me up a spiral staircase and down a long hall. She stops in front of a door and opens it to show me a large, elegant bedroom. I look around to see a bathroom and walk in wardrobe connected to the room.

''This will be your bedroom from now on. The bathroom is to the left and walk in wardrobe to the right. Heeseung's room is opposite yours, Jake's to the left and Sunoo's to the right. Would you like a tour of the house?'' Thea spoke for the first time since we left the room.

''If you don't mind.'' I reply. She nods and leave the room. She points out the other bedrooms and all I can is, I'm happy Jay's is the furthest away from mine.

As Thea shows me around, showing me the other bathrooms, the kitchen, where Heeseung's office is, everything. I feel the knife rubbing in my boot. I know its not cutting into my leg but its making me uncomfortable.

Thea seems like a sweet girl, but I feel like this is my chance to try and run for it. As we stand in the living room, Thea has her back to me. I slowly pull the knife out my boot and step towards the shorter female. I wrap one arm quickly around her waist and the other to hold the knife against her neck, not cutting her skin.

''I'm sorry, you seem really sweet but I need to get out of here.'' I tell her.

''Your making a very dangerous move, Y/n. If my brother or one of the guys walks in to see this, you'll be dead.'' She warns.

''Open the front door.'' I tell her, pushing her gently towards the front door.

I switch to holding her wrists behind her back with my left hand, using my right to keep the knife in place. I feel the tears in the corner of my eyes. We get to the front door and almost fall to my knees when I see Niki sitting in front of it, playing on his phone. When he looks up he chuckles and shakes his head.

''It only took half an hour for you to try and get out and using Thea too, how low can you get.'' He calls. I shake a little as I feel a hand on my shoulder.

''Let go of my sister before I slit your throat.'' I hear Heeseung's deep voice. I quickly let go of Thea. She turns to me, giving me a disappointed look.

''I'm sorry.'' I cry falling to my knees. I cry into my hands, thinking this is it.

''Get up.'' I look up at Heeseung.

''Get up.'' He repeats. I slowly get up standing on my shaky legs. I see all of the guys and Thea looking at me.

''Now tell me why I shouldn't shoot you here and now.'' I shake as I hear a gun click, telling me its loaded.

''I-I don't know... j-just do it.'' I answer honestly.

I feel the tears falling down my cheeks as I look at the ground. I hear a bang and flinch, closing my eyes tightly but when I don't feel anything. I open my eyes and don't see a bullet hole anywhere. I look at Heeseung who stares deeply at me.

''We're not going to kill you. You going to be the doctor for Enhypen but pull a stunt like that again, Sunghoon won't miss.'' I nod and look behind me to see Sunghoon holding up a gun. I shakily walk towards my bedroom and collapse on my bed, crying myself to sleep.

"Hear me! Hear me! Oh dearest citizens of Northumberland! Today, I excitingly send words of the town's whatabouts as we engage ourselves in the most awaited event of the season一 the debutantes' ball!

To finally meet and acquire their very own match, a roster of this year's finest young ladies and lords will twirl and swoon their way in the Queen's Court in about forty-eight hours from today.

Amongst the several noblemen in present, who will be the lucky and eligible lords to win the hearts and hands of the city's virtuous and stunning young women? From Northumberland's notable and wealthy families, who will be the successful couples to make it through the exceptional game of matchmaking?

I, for one, doubt the family of Lady Yang will be two steps behind this social occasion, as it appears to my sources the second-born is finally joining the eligible bachelors of the season! Oh yes! Juicy, isn't it? But wait! Another juicy tattle just sprung up the instincts of the town's desperate mothers!

The ravishing only son of the Duke of Northumberland is finally back in town and up for grabs as the Duke himself announced his son "eligible and in need of a potential wife"! This season will no other be than an exciting and exceptional turn for the highly-acclaimed families of the North.

Curious of what's going to happen? Well, see you in forty-eight hours!"

The folded paper is now shoved at the back pocket of the tensed boy who begrudgingly positioned himself back in the shooting marker of the field. With a steady stance and a firm grip on the blunderbuss, he pulls the trigger aiming for the target hanging on a tree branch. The boy hisses for what somehow appears to be his fifteenth missed shot now.

"I see you've read the Daily Tattle. Does that explain your angered shot just now?" A tall, plump-faced boy walks toward the brooding lad who's now awaiting his next bullet being prepared by his personal servants.

He heaves a deep sigh. "Been pissing off my shot the moment I took my first pull this morning."

The tall, plump-faced boy in question is Daniel, the youngest of the three brothers of the Yang family and a very dear friend of our pissed off lad, Niki, the youngest of the Park family. Daniel slings an arm around his pal's shoulder, only to be shrugged away in an instant. "Loosen up, my lord." He scoffs in sarcasm. "Is it your sister?"

Niki closes an eye as he carefully steadies his arm to his line of sight. After he blows another impulsive shot, he lets go of the blunderbuss and turns to his friend. "Who do you think?"

"Well, for starters, you're using the blunderbuss for target practice. Anyone would think you're just out to play but as your trusted old pal, you only come out here with that weapon when it's about your sister." Niki rolls his eyes while pulling Daniel to the nearby bench. "You sure, bud? Only when it's about Y/n? You've surely seen the stupid parchment this morning. Can't believe you're dumb enough to be my friend."

Daniel perks up his brows when he recalls the contents of the Daily Tattle. "Ah! Sunghoon's returned!" Niki clicks his tongue while adjusting the utterly tight boots his maid had put on for him. “And here I am thinking you’re annoyed because your sister is about to be offered for marriage.” The other boy mumbles.

“It was originally that. But then one thing led to another now that I’ve seen the Daily Tattle. Mother will look for ways to get Y/n closer to Sunghoon.”

“Well, I’d do the same if I was your mother. It’s the Duke’s son we're talking about here! His father plans to hand over the title to him as soon as he gets married. Isn’t it regal?” Niki quickly slaps Daniel’s chest before walking away to head inside their manor. The boy was quick enough to catch up to his heated friend, after all, he has pretty long legs for a mere young lad.

“C’mon! Y/n would never answer to a guy like him. You should trust your sister more often, Nik.”

“And you should keep your mouth shut more often, Dan.” Daniel struggled to stifle another remark the moment Niki turned his back on him. He knows where Niki’s frustration and anger are coming from so one more silliness from him would make Niki’s fist land him on the ground.

“Sunghoon sent me an invitation this morning. I reckon you haven’t opened yours? Chap’s inviting us for quick rounds of fencing in their garden today.”

Niki abruptly stopped from his rushed paces when Daniel’s tone changed from being playful to utter seriousness, but he never turned to face him. He was trying to process what his pal just said and stood stiff on his spot. “It’s about time you take your sticks out… for a few rounds of fencing, don't you think?” Daniel walked past Niki but didn't fail to place a comforting hand on his shoulder. He huffs an almost tired sigh. “See you at the Duke’s garden, bud.”

The afternoon daze lands upon Niki’s hooded figure coming down from their carriage. The boy deeply exhales before finally setting foot on his former friend's grounds. It’s been years, he thought. But the memory still stings his fragile heart, although his mother taught him better than to let his emotions get the better of him. He just couldn't figure out what to do in the remaining hours of being stuck with Sunghoon in this dreaded place.

“Lord Niki,” The Duke’s butler bows before the lad while choking in a whisper. “Belle missed you tons, my lord.” He finally let out.

“She does, doesn't she? I’m sure she's been well?” Niki suddenly felt a rushing warmth up in his cheeks at the mere knowledge he just gained. “Always been, my lord.” Niki places a hand on the butler's shoulder before smiling away. “Much thanks, Edmond. I’ll visit the castle’s stable in a bit to see what Belle's been up to. And don’t worry, I can see myself to the horses.”

“Niki! You came!” Daniel rushed to his friend for a tight hug to which Niki only forced a smile. It wasn't because of Daniel’s almost constricting embrace though, but because of the sight of the Duke’s son walking his way towards the two lads. “Your Grace.” With a tone of sarcasm and his most incomparable humor, Niki bows before the tall and well-built, almost pale marquess the instance Daniel pulled away.

“There will be no need for formalities, Niki. It’s not like-”

“I insist, Your Grace.” Sunghoon clicks his tongue as he places his hands on his waist. He will, after all, be addressed that way very soon. “Very well. You’ve never been one to take heedings anyway. Come, the garden’s been waiting for us.”

The pavement leading to the grand garden was made of the purest white pebbles and enormous shrubs towering over them on each side of the vertical pathway. Niki couldn't help himself from sniffing the fresh air time to time as the place, despite being dreadful, is filled with fresh air adequately provided by the healthy bunch of trees that's surrounding the royal grounds.

He forces down every bit of flashback that's trying to reign over him by little subtleties such as swallowing his saliva consistently, or clicking his fingers in agitation. Daniel would place an arm over his shoulder every ten seconds to keep the anxious boy from insanity.

So long as Niki was too occupied with his drowning thoughts, he hasn't realized the servant handing him the fencing sword after he’s changed into full gear in the middle of the yard.

“May I remind you that this is nothing but a formal play without personal intentions in the way. I trust you well enough to at least take that very simple heed, Niki. There won’t be a need to get effusive.” Sunghoon smirks to the boy whose eyes are now hooded with fuming anger.

“Oh, he’s tamed, my lord. You need not to worry about him. Right, Niki?” Daniel awkwardly chuckles to keep the tension from brewing any further. With stares that could kill, Niki may as well have “His Grace’s” head off by now.

“After the third count, gentlemen. En-garde!”

“Foils at the ready!”

“One…”

“Two…”

“Allez!”

And before the count even reached its end, Niki threw his first offense.

Drink Me

pairing : niki x gn!reader

genre : bulleted. fluff. a bit of angst. inspired by alice in wonderland,  inside out and filter - jimin (all very loosely) 

warnings : swearing. niki’s character changes concept and/or characteristics (chameleonic).  this doesn’t necessarily have a plot. 

summary : niki drinks a potion that causes him to change every time he drinks. and of course, as his best friend, you are the one to get him out of trouble. always. 

Niki is someone rather quiet 

But he can be impulsive 

Which explains why he even drank the potion in the first place 

It would’ve been normal to say he drank it once 

Or had a sip 

But guzzling it down six times was what he did 

Six times because the lucky number seven is overrated 

His face screws up at the taste of it 

It’s a mixture of disgusting, sweet and a little bit of spice 

It has Niki’s head going in circles 

Luckily for Niki, whenever he did anything remotely reckless, he had one person that’d always be there for him in the end 

You pick up, a little tired 

‘Yeah?’ 

‘So, I drank a potion...’ 

‘You... drank...a potion?’ 

‘Yeah.’ 

‘Why do you say that so casually?’ 

‘Because it’s already happened...’ 

‘Well, do you feel anything change in you?’ 

‘No.’ 

‘Either it hasn’t happened yet...or nothing will. Stop drinking potions and giving me heart attacks, Niki. Goodnight.’ 

The next morning you find that things are a little different 

You just finished talking to your teacher about assignments and little things you missed during your draft 

You sigh at the sheer amount of them all 

Too many mistakes 

Too many 

You look at the entrance as Niki struts through the doors

Well it looks like him, definitely but you know him 

And this? 

ISN’T NIKI 

Your eyebrows lift at the oozing confidence this Niki has as he wears his leather jacket you never knew he owned with a lollipop in his mouth 

He also has the AUDACITY to walk right past you and the scowl that comes across your face is unconscious 

He dawdles down the hallway, uncaring of others and you follow him with your slowly growing frown 

Your stride breaks almost into a run when you hear the shouts of a few boys and taunting from Niki 

In the doorway you see a familiar boy, with angry eyebrows and a jawline sharp enough to cut holding Niki up against the wall by the collar

Niki makes eye contact with you and his smirk widens 

‘Baby’ 

The fuck? 

Baby? 

Jay turns towards you with Niki’s collar still in his hands

That fucking idiot 

You walk in front of what appears to be your best friend, pulling Jay’s already softening grip away from his collar and softly putting them by his sides 

Jay stares at you in bewilderment before his eyes narrow as Niki decides to open his mouth 

‘I can take him.’ 

‘No you can’t.’ 

Jay goes to launch himself at Niki, trying to prevent himself from knocking you  

You can’t help the glower at Jay (both in the moment and afterwards you’ll feel bad because it’s not truly directed at him but he’s the sad collateral damage) 

‘Please don’t hit him. Because then I have to hit you back. And trust me, I will whack you....’ 

‘...No matter how hot or scary you are.’ 

Jay’s eyebrows lift as he stares you down with surprise in his eyes and an increasing feeling of his ego being boosted 

But before he can say anything else, you already have Niki’s jacket in your hand, pulling him down the corridor 

‘Niki.’ 

Jay stares after the two of you, still slightly annoyed but also quite.... intrigued? 

The next day you see Niki seemingly back to normal 

But the look he passes over you when you go to check on him is not one of them 

Ugh 

The harsh eyes directed at both you and Jungwon as Jungwon fusses over the little cut you’ve managed to obtain doing who knows what? 

Jungwon runs a smooth palm over the plaster before tapping your knee a little 

‘What did your clumsy ass do this time?’ 

Niki is too harsh and right now he really knows 

Because your face crumples with slight hurt and he never wants to see it again 

But right now he won’t back down 

Fuck that 

Jungwon peeps at the tears growing in your eyes before turning to Niki 

‘Niki’ 

He growls 

‘If you’re gonna be a dickhead all session then get the fuck out.’ 

Niki rolls his eyes before storming out 

You lift yourself up from the ground, needing to chase him 

‘You don’t have to chase him, Y/N.’ 

You sigh 

If only 

‘Thank you Jungwon,’ 

Before following Niki out of the room. 

Niki has his head on a locker, gripping it in his hands

You hurry worriedly towards him, patting his back 

The next day you find that Niki had already become another and your anger the previous day feels a little too much 

With his tie not on properly and his uniform unkempt 

You drag him into another classroom, sighing 

Only to be met by the surprised face of Park Sunghoon 

The ‘prince’ of the school so to speak 

Hiding 

Like a little coward 

‘Who are you?’ 

He says as he looks at Niki who looks down at his nose at the older boy 

‘Don’t worry about it.’ 

You waved him off so carelessly that Sunghoon’s expression feels stuck in that surprised and lowkey entilted expression 

Because....this? Is not what he thought you were like 

He thought you were quiet and tended to stick to yourself 

You button Niki’s shirt tying it securely 

Sunghoon decides he wants to ease the tension that has risen between you both 

He goes to exit the classroom only to be stopped by you 

‘Do you perhaps know how to tie a tie?’ 

‘Perhaps?’ 

He says in an almost teasing tone 

You cast him a dark look which he grins at 

‘Yes, your highness  I do.’ 

Niki watches Sunghoon tie his tie around his neck with stiff shoulders before looking at you with much softer eyes 

‘You are to be my beloved?’

You stare at him 

And Sunghoon’s tries to focus on tying this tie for a boy he doesn’t know to stomp out the pure awkwardness and unnatural language of a teenage boy 

‘My royal intended?’ 

Niki asks, completely ignoring the boy in front of him. 

Sunghoon was a prince turned into a complete slave by a boy who looks like he barely celebrated his thirteenth birthday. 

You, however, are rendered speechless and currently don’t know how to function 

Sunghoon inhales in satisfaction as he perfects Niki’s tie and steps away

Niki, fortunately returns to normal and he frowns at the boy in front of him before loosening the tie around his own neck 

Sunghoon can’t help the dark look that comes across his face 

‘Thank you Sunghoon. For tying his tie, only for it to become undone. Thank you.’ 

Your sarcastic tilt has Niki apologising to Sunghoon 

‘Prince Niki made an appearance.’ 

Niki screwed his face up before making eye contact with Sunghoon 

‘Who are you anyway?’ 

The ice prince is offended. And he makes no effort to hide how irritated and slightly interested he is. 

Sunghoon finds you both weird 

But he oddly fucks with that 

Which is why he invites you both to his party tomorrow night 

The party has you both drowsy. Throughout the whole night, your hand is clasped in NIki’s and you just hope they’re not clammy . 

That’s the least of your problems 

Rather than this crush on your best friend you have 

The ‘incoming’ Niki hasn’t happened yet and it freaks the both of you out a little bit 

Niki tries to focus on the fact that since the party has started, you haven’t let his hand go. 

You’re both seated and your fingers are interlocked 

An hour ago you had seen Sunghoon and waved hello. 

That was weird. 

You never thought you’d ever be one of the people he’d acknowledge 

Much rather Niki, who can’t even remember why he’s being acknowledged 

Twenty minutes ago it was even weirder 

Jay had appeared in front of the both of you, giving looks at your hands and even Jungwon had made eyes at them 

‘Wanna drink?’ Jay leaned into you which you denied. 

‘Since when were you two a thing?’ Jungwon asked 

‘We’re not.’ 

Niki can’t help the wolfish grin that appears on his face as he takes a look at Jay 

He doesn’t know where it comes from but he sends a wink his way which has Jay’s eyes narrowing 

He could hold your hand forever 

Unfortunately though, he doesn’t really want to hold your hand while he takes a piss 

So seeing that you’re currently in a conversation with Jungwon, he takes the opening to go and pee as quickly as he can 

(So he can return to you much faster) 

This, however seems to be the moment the new version of Niki appears and Jake Sim finds Nishimura Riki in the bathroom applying glitter to his face 

‘Sorry man.’ 

‘Don’t worry about it,’ 

Niki waves off any apology with the flick of his hand 

‘That’s sick.’ 

Niki fixes his stare on Jake, ‘I know.’ 

Niki sarcastically welcomes him with the gesture of his hand, focusing on the pretty that adorns his face 

‘Who are you here with?’ 

Niki opens the door slightly, looking down the balcony to see you in the same spot as before with a lemonade in hand. 

He points down at you before smiling slightly, ‘Them.’ 

‘They’re cute’ 

Jake smiles 

‘I know they are.’ 

‘Are you dating?’ Jake says, eyeing at the way Sunghoon is talking to you 

‘Not yet.’ 

‘Are you done with your glitter?’ Jake wonders 

‘Yeah.’ 

‘Cool- cause I gotta take a piss. Like now. Here’s my number.’ 

Jake’s fingers dance across Niki’s phone screen and Niki walks downstairs 

You stop your conversation with Sunghoon as you see Niki with his face prettily covered in glitter and you’re confused as fuck 

Sunghoon turns to meet Niki’s eye and is like, ‘I like the glitter.’ 

The next morning when Niki changes, you don’t necessarily notice he’s changed 

Maybe other people have been suspicious over Niki’s change of character 

But not you 

You’re used to this Niki 

Even the victim, Kim Sunoo is used to it 

So when Niki giggles and pours water over Sunoo’s head and then a bucket of feathers 

You only muse to yourself that Niki has finally brought playful Niki to school 

Sunoo glares at Niki before chasing him down the hall 

‘NISHIMURA RIKI’ 

You can hear Niki cackle as he runs from Sunoo, ‘THAT’S WHAT YOU GET FOR PUTTING A WATERMELON IN MY MAILBOX.’

Sunoo spits out a feather as he yells, ‘HOW IS THAT AS BAD AS THIS?’ 

And so the whole school watches as Sunoo tackles Niki down in an attempt to seriously injure the giggling boy 

Jungwon looks at you confused and with a hint of concern, ‘Shouldn’t you go help Niki?’ 

‘I think it’s deserved,’ You say and turn away, choosing to instead focus on your own education. 

Every now and then you can’t help but peek over your book at the commotion 

Sunoo stands up with a huff, stomping down the hallway to make eye contact with you-

‘I hate your boyfriend.’ 

Before he stalks off 

When the bell rings, Niki remains on the floor, resembling a starfish or a snow angel with his legs wide apart and arms extended, a goofball 

When you reach him, he’s giggling with tears in his eyes 

You watch him from above, shaking your head 

‘I don’t know why I’m laughing,’ Niki giggles as he wipes a tear away, ‘What was this Niki like?’ 

‘Exactly like you.’ 

When Niki changes for the final time, it is not you who finds him 

But Sunoo and Heeseung 

Heeseung watches Niki cry on the floor with his head in between his hands whilst Sunoo runs off in search of you 

Heeseung slides down the wall to sit across from the crying younger boy 

‘Hey, you okay Niki?’ 

Now Niki feels sad. But he feels even sadder that the person who caught him blubbering and crying away is a crush of yours 

(A once upon a time crush but Niki doesn’t know that) 

Heeseung squeezes Niki’s shoulder without saying anything else before sliding forward to comfort him. 

Heeseung watches over Niki protectively, only letting his eyes wander when he hears hurried footsteps and finds himself a little speechless when he makes eye contact with you 

‘Hi Y/N.’ 

‘Hey Heeseung,’ You smile before placing your hands on each side of Niki’s face 

‘Look at me-’ 

And Heeseung can only watch your obvious crush on Niki shine 

‘Now what aren’t we going to do?’ 

Heeseung smiles but his eyes widen at the words pulled from your mouths 

‘No more drinking potions.’ 

What? 

author’s note : cinematic parallels but my own writing version : putting jake in the bathroom and heeseung being an old crush of y/n’s. this was just a bit of fun and a little bit of a mess. i love this idea.
