Surprise
Pairing: Lewis Hamilton x mom!wife! Reader
Warnings: just fluff
Summary: Surprising Lewis with little Hamilton’s first time in the paddock.

Lewis and I met in Spain when we were on vacation.
I was on vacation from my job and he was on summer break and by some kind of miracle we met in a bar.
I was alone drinking while my friends were dancing, I was excited that we were going to go out until minutes before my ex-boyfriend had the courage to send me an invitation to his wedding with the woman he cheated on me with.
My mother had sent me a message warning me because the address he knew was the address of my parents' house.
So this let me down completely.
Not that I was still in love with that idiot, far from it, but the fact that he had the courage to invite me made me realize that I have spent three years of my life with that person who didn't even deserve one month of my time.
And that's when Lewis showed up, I guess the fact that he found a sad woman in a bar, drinking alone on a Friday night caught his attention.
That's when we started talking and I as a person completely uninterested in any kind of sport didn’t knew who he was, in fact I only found out months later that we were already talking.
He didn't hide who he was, in fact he told me both his name and what he did, but he didn't specify that he was a formula 1 driver and that he was one of the best ones that existed.
We exchanged numbers and talked for months until he was in England for a race and invited me to go, this was when I fell in love with the sport but also where I realized how much damage it would do to my life just to be seen with him.
People found my social medias which at the time were bombarded with horrible comments about me and my appearance and that it was impossible for him to be with a person like me.
It was then where I became terrified and distanced myself a bit from him because of this. After much insistence he managed to convince me to go out to dinner with him.
That same night he was honest with me, that if we decided to try to have a relationship unfortunately it would be like that, people hating me without even knowing me and telling lies about me.
In other circumstances I would have walked away because this life of being known was not for me, I liked being unknown to the public eye and that the amount of people who would judge me would be less than being the girlfriend of the most famous Formula One driver.
But I knew that if I didn't take the risk I would miss out on one of the best things that would happen in my life, and now I'm sure I would have regretted it.
Lewis and I have been together for 5 years now, and every day I realize how much in love with him I am.
The first years of our relationship were very hectic, the weeks away for races and events, the thousands of messages exchanged during the day and FaceTime calls at night, and those were also the most complicated years of the relationship.
It was like a test, a test to know if the relationship would survive the thousands of lies about betrayal from both parts, the manipulated photos to look like things that weren’t true, the nights of crying and tears for not knowing what to believe even though we were absolutely sure that everything was just a big lie.
I'm sure these years were essential for both of us to learn to trust each other.
——————
It was the weekend of the Silverstone GP and I had lied to Lewis that I couldn't go because I had a lot of work to do, but in fact here was Luke and I in the car heading to the track.
Lucas Hamilton was our 3 year old son. This would be his father's first race that he would be watching straight from the garage.
When we found out that I was pregnant, we agreed that above all, Luke would be preserved from the toxicity of the internet. His fans knew that he existed and also knew his name because when he was born we thought it was only fair that the fans knew about him from us and not from the paparazzi, but they had never seen more than a small body in the pictures we posted.
Lewis had already shown interest in taking the little one to watch him race but I still didn't feel comfortable about showing him to the world, but I knew how much he wanted me to go this weekend and I also knew how upset he was that I couldn't go.
So nothing better than to surprise him with our presence plus Luke's first time.
Toto had helped me with the plan, sent me the paddock passes and let the security guards know that I would be here.
I got out of the car, I put the paddock passes on mine and Luke’s neck and carefully pulled him out of the car.
"Where's daddy?" He asks as soon as I lock the car and we start walking towards the paddock.
"We're going to go see him now okay?" He agrees and takes my hand again as soon as we enter the paddock
As soon as they recognized me the cameras all turned to me and with Lewis Hamilton's faceless son along it was as if the photographers multiplied.
As we were getting close to the garage, Lewis was coming out of it with Roscoe along with him and as soon as Luke saw him he let go of my hand and came out screaming.
"Daddy." Lewis recognized that little voice on and he opened the most beautiful smile as soon as he saw his son running up to him, even Roscoe started barking.
"Hey buddy." He bent down and picked him up on his hip. "What are you doing here?"
"Me and mommy came to see you." He says excitedly and soon he sees me. "I missed you daddy."
"I missed you too buddy." Just then the three of them come toward me. "You said you were going to work."
"I lied, I wanted to surprise you."
"You sure surprised me." He gives me a kiss.
"It's bad to lie mommy."
"It really is, isn’t." Lewis says in a teasing tone. "We're going to have to ground Mommy."
"That's right."
"Are you taking your father's side?" He agrees.
Luke was definitely a daddy's boy, besides being an exact copy of Lewis, even more now that he’s bigger, the only thing that’s the same as me is the eyes, Lewis has dark eyes and mine’s are green.
"Daddy can I sit in your car?"
"Of course you can, let’s ask uncle Toto to give you some gloves too, come on."
We pulled into the garage where Lewis put Luke into the car, after we were together for a while Lewis had to go because the race was going to start and when he won we ran to the front of the podium where as soon as he jump out of the car he came running over to where we were.
And I could have sworn that this race was the most special one for him.

“i love it theologically but in my personal religion idk how it makes me feel. this is actually a super common phenomenon - christian theologians are often very liberal in their theology and more conservative in their own religion.” Can you please please please talk more about this distinction????
Of COURSE! I’m still trying to find where I got this fact but I always have like 10 books on the go not including journal articles etc so I have a lot to dig through! So firstly, it’s quite an important distinction. There is a massive overlap between theology and religion, and exploring theology naturally impacts one’s own religious beliefs, and vice versa, therefore it’s not a hard line per say. However, it is crucial that theologians can have some separation. For example, one of the first questions they asked me in a certain unnamed university interview that you’re not meant to give any details about picked up on this. I was given a few passages taken from different religious traditions, and we discussed their similarities and differences. A little into the conversation, they told me that the passages had been written sequentially, with each a few hundred years after another, and asked “Could the later ones possibly have been inspired by the earlier one?” One of the later passages was taken from the New Testament, with this question carrying the suggestion that an author in the NT had been inspired by Ancient Greek mythology. If you’re answering that from a religious perspective, no, absolutely not! This is where they start to separate.
A good part of theology requires looking at religious texts as a piece of literature. In my Extended Essay for IB I wrote about Cozbi, and a significant chunk of my work looked at word choice in a variety of translations, including the original Hebrew. This meant looking at how she had been named (Cozbi was probably not her real name - it means ‘to lie’ and ‘lies’, and the Akkadian equivalent of her name, ‘kuzbu’, means ‘voluptuousness’, ‘sexually vigorous’, and is a euphemism for genitals) to convey a message, and the use of grammar and vocabulary in order to pin the blame on her as opposed to the Israelite man Zimri. So in this, I’m looking at the Bible as literature, and making arguments which are quite tricky to make from a Christian standpoint - to look at my religious text and say ‘The author of this text has chosen these words to manipulate the reader’, when in my Christian head, the author of the text is God (as discussed in earlier posts, expressed by humans). So, I think that interview question aimed to very quickly sort out those who are not able to have that distinction. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it would make it very difficult to study Theology, and be taught Theology, I think.
But this distinction is where the liberal theology vs conservative religion comes in. My argument in my Cozbi essay, that the Bible deliberately uses women as plot devices and scapegoats, is liberal, and, honestly, not something I really want to believe! And arguing something academically, especially in the field of Theology, doesn’t necessarily mean you have to believe it. If you’re arguing something in Chemistry, that’s a bit different! Do I think my Cozbi essay is academically compelling? Yes. I am academically persuaded by it. Do I believe it religiously? Do I think that’s what God’s word is really trying to say? No. Do I think my icons essay is academically compelling? Yes. Do I think it justifies the use of icons in the Church of England? Yes. Would I have icons without it? Also yes. Writing that essay, although informative, did not alter my personal religious beliefs.
I think there’s also this weird overlap in the Tumblr-Christian-Theology little niche that you and I like to sit in. You do it much better than me. Your theological arguments persuade me, and I do think I often believe them religiously. However, my theological arguments aren’t meant to do that. Mine are often purely academic. This also links back to a post you made a few months ago that I wanted to talk about but didn’t have the words for. You talked about not liking people distinguishing between ‘theologies’ ie ‘feminist theology’ ‘liberation theology’ etc etc. And I agree and disagree, once more based on this distinction. If ‘theology’ is your personal theology, what you believe about God and religion, then yes, this idea of ‘feminist theology’ is really weird. However, when I say I’m a ‘feminist theologian’ or I’m interested in ‘liberation theology’, I mean I am interested in the niche in the academic subject Theology that belongs to ‘feminist theology’ or ‘liberation theology’.
So, why are Christian theologians often more liberal in their academic theology and more conservative in their personal religion? I think because we’re not compelled to believe it. You can try out ideas, and argue for them, and find evidence to support them, but none of this means you have to believe it. This gives Christians the space to figure out ideas that they may not agree with religiously, or might get push back from their religious community, in an academic sphere.
[Throwback to this great conversation with my (LDS) coursework supervisor:
Her: *finishes reading coursework* Oh no, you can’t submit this. I hate it, I really disagree.
Me: Oh gosh, sorry! Which arguments are the weakest?
Her: Huh? Oh, no, all your arguments are really strong. I can’t pick holes in them.
Me: Oh, that’s good. How can I improve it then? What’s wrong with it?
Her: I really disagree with it.
Me: That’s… that’s fine… You don’t need to agree with it.]
Also, I think it’s a lot easier to be liberal hypothetically! And academics can argue whatever they want. You could put a claim I hated in front of me and I could still defend and support it just as strongly as something I agreed with. Also, there’s less responsibility. If you’re consciously publishing a religious opinion in a religious space, that’s something people might take away and believe, which comes with an element of danger! Obviously you don’t have control over how people use your academic work, they might well go away and incorporate it into their religious beliefs, but that likelihood is lower, so this throwing out of ideas and ‘what if God meant this’ and ‘what if Paul meant this’ is a little safer, and comes with the understanding that it’s not necessarily your belief or a belief you endorse!
Anyway yes this was actually a very difficult question to answer and, despite it being true of me, I don’t really know! But this is an attempt for now, and I’ll come back to it after I’ve done some more Theology!! Definitely next academic year after I’ve done some uni :))

We don’t like it
Pairing: Dad!Mason Mount x wife!reader
Warnings: nothing I guess
Summary: Where Mason’s wife and daughter didn’t like when he shaved his beard.

Today I decided to do something I didn’t do for a long e time.
Shave my beard.
I’ve always been proud of my beard, It was my personal signature and something he'd nurtured for years.
The thick, well-groomed facial hair had become an integral part of him. Yet, there was one recurring scenario that made me hesitate every time I think of shaving it off - my wife and daughter reaction.
So today as I stood in front of the bathroom mirror, razor in my hand, I couldn't help but wonder how the girl’s would react to this. My wife, Y/n, was undoubtedly the most vocal critic.
She claimed that it made me look hot and super attractive so she obviously didn’t like when I shave.
As the shaving foam covered my beard, I remembered the countless times my wife had protest when she sees me without the beard.
My daughter also didn’t like me without it but it was annoying me so much that I could wait any longer to shave it off.
But I had been contemplating this change for a while now. I knew my wife and daughter would initially be surprised, maybe even upset. However, I also believed they would eventually adjust to me with a clean face.
With a deep breath, I began to shave. As the beard disappeared bit by bit, I caught glimpses of my face that I didn’t even remember how it looked since I was with this beard for months.
Once I finished, I examined my clean-shaven face in the mirror and It felt strange, almost as if I had lost a part of myself but it was also liberating in a way I hadn't anticipated.
When I walked into the living room, I was met with a mixed reaction.
My daughter chocked, not sure how to react to this sudden change in her dad's appearance. But my wife, on the other hand, looked surprised but then broke into a smile.
"Wow, you look so different!" she exclaimed.
My daughter Lily got out of my wife’s lap, after a moment of uncertainty she came running to me and I took her in my lap and she began to run her little hands over my face, feeling my face without the beard but with a look of curiosity.
“I don’t like it.” She says after taking of her hand of my face and my wife started laughing.
“What, why?”
“I just don’t like it daddy.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t know.”
“And what about you babe?”
“Well I didn’t like it either.” She says coming towards us. “You look hot, don’t get me wrong but nothing looks better on you than the beard. And you look so young that people may think your under 18.”
“Oh come on, I don’t look that young.”
“Yes you do Mase, your face used to look like this when we met 7 years.”
“I don’t look like I have 18.”
“Yes you do and you know that.”
“I’ll remember not to shave next time since my two girls hate me.” I said being dramatic and Y/n laughs while my daughter looks scared.
“No, I don’t hate you daddy.” She’s says hugging me tight.
“I know you don’t baby and I love you for that.” I kissed her cheek.
“Well don’t shave it next time please.”
“Yes daddy.” Sebe agree with her mom.
“Okay girls I won’t.” I kissed my wife and we sat on the sofa to watch a movie.

it's Hallowe'en szn so: how about cute funny slice of life England nt costume party? preferably hendolish with side stonesford and trent x madders. either friends w/benefits, friends to lovers or established relationships dm! other pairings would be fun to read if you prefer tho
optional tropes for inspo: mistaken identity/masquerade, apple bobbing, pumpkins, face paint, black cat, someone getting scared by a spooky story or prank, dancing to Thriller, one or more of the lads having a sexy and feminine costume (like cat burglar, dark devil/angel, evil nurse, zombie princess etc)
hendolish, stonesford, trent x madders | halloween!👻🎃
The stately venue chosen for England's Halloween party gleams, each corner adorned with cobwebs and pumpkins, providing the perfect setting for a masquerade of unexpected proportions. Soft flickering candlelight casts eerie shadows on the walls, setting the mood just right for a night of thrills.
As players arrive, they're met with a throng of ghostly apparitions, wicked witches, and even a couple of mummies. Jude sports a playful face paint resembling a skeleton, the contrasting black and white highlighting his sharp jawline and perfect cheekbones.
Amongst the vibrant array of costumes, Jack and Madders perhaps stand out the most, oozing confidence in their rather audacious get-ups. Jack, dressed with devilish dark wings, and Madders, in an ethereal angelic ensemble, draw eyes and wolf-whistles alike. Their attire leaves little to the imagination, and while it’s bold, the two wear it with cheeky flair. Both Jordan and Trent certainly seem to appreciate the costumes, unable to refrain themselves from casting appreciative glances, a spark of playful mischief in their eyes.
Jordan, trying not to stare too much, nudges Trent, "They sure know how to put on a show, huh?" Trent, eyebrows raised, simply mutters, "I'll say."
John, side-by-side with Pickers as usual, makes a grand entrance dressed as a duo of pirates, complete with eye patches and a plastic parrot perched on Jordan’s shoulder.
"Who's the captain between you two?" asks a chuckling Kane.
John points at himself with conviction, “Obviously me,” to which Jordan rolls his eyes, "Dream on, mate. It's Captain Pickford to you."
The night is filled with laughter and playful banter, with pranks unfolding left and right. At one point, a ghost on strings descends from the ceiling, inciting a rather girlish scream from Bukayo, causing an eruption of laughter from the room. Dec, the prank's mastermind, chuckles heartily, clutching his sides and earning himself a playful shove from the younger.
As the DJ transitions to Michael Jackson's "Thriller," there's a collective cheer. Players, along with a slightly hesitant Gareth Southgate, gather on the dance floor. The choreography, somewhat haphazard with mixed levels of enthusiasm, is a sight to behold. Amidst the sea of dancing, Southgate’s attempt to nail the iconic moves ends in giggles and a few light-hearted jabs from the lads.
"Gareth, mate, stick to management!"
Amid the dancing and laughter, Jack and Jordan find a quiet corner. With Jack’s wings brushing lightly against Jordan’s chest, their fingers intertwine. The look they share is more intimate than their surroundings, filled with understanding and silent communication before they share a soft kiss.
The night draws to a close with a toast led by Southgate, dressed as a vampire sporting an England scarf for some reason. Glasses clink, and laughter fills the air. The bond among the players is evident, transcending football and resonating as genuine friendship. Through masks, costumes, and playful antics, the togetherness of the England squad shines brighter than any Halloween spectacle.
♡

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Jude is a phenomenal player and has had an amazing career so far but he is not iconic YET. He is definitely an icon in the making but I believe that recent weeks have shown us that he is not as big as some have thought. I think he is a much better footballer than Palmer but British media will definitely push the white boy more and tbh, I do see him a lot, many people talk about him, kids do his celebrations and people generally seem to appreciate the fact that he’s awkward and easily meme-able while knowing how to kick a ball. Achievements wise Jude blows him out of the water but Palmer is so stupid that people just seem to love his thoughtless face and attitude. Plus Jude is not helping himself with the recent fiasco lol Foden, on the other hand, I believe feels in the England nt what Jude feels in Madrid - he wants to be the star boy but he is obviously not doing well AT ALL most of the time #fuckmancity 😇
