Interview Question for Etsushir:
What was the vibe like as a foot soldier during the suppression of the North Finn Rebellion? Did it feel doomed from the start or did it only fall apart once the Odomache was assaulted and killed?
#Etsushir is generally very quiet and guarded and wouldn't give this extensive of a response to most people but he CAN be this#talkative when he's comfortable and being approached genuinely as a peer. He has a lot on his mind.#wrt the war:#Basically what happened was that the approach was EXTREMELY confident. The first Imperial Wardi invasion of Finnerich was an almost#one-sided affair. The Wardi side had superiority in numbers + training + weaponry. The Finns had some basal fire lances but no#muskets (and the majority had no firearms whatsoever)#But this time around the rebelling Finns had reverse engineered the muskets and produced their own. Most not of#the same quality as the Wardi muskets due to lack of resources but more than enough to be a threat#They distributed these firearms strategically by need while the Wardi forces distributed their own by rank and among elite#groups of soldiers. Which was a functional strategy to distribute this (very limited) resource when engaged in conventional#warfare but the Finns engaged primarily through guerilla tactics and thus very effectively countered the Wardi military organization.#This resulted in situations where large groups of footsoldiers armed with spears and bows were slaughtered and routed by like#A Single Guy with a gun hiding in ambush. Which was extremely demoralizing#The Wardi military forces were also plagued with infighting which only worsened when this invasion turned out to Not be a cakewalk#which made them slow and ineffective to adjust to the Finns' tactics and further damaged their own troops' morale.#Bottom line being that most of the common footsoldiers got a distinct feeling that they were Fucked pretty soon after it all began#etsushir#ask meme

A Game of Thrones, Tyrion III
He passed a massive catapult, as tall as a city wall, its base sunk deep into the Wall. The throwing arm had been taken off for repairs and then forgotten; it lay there like a broken toy, half-embedded in the ice.
On the far side of the catapult, a muffled voice called out a challenge. “Who goes there? Halt!”
Tyrion stopped. “If I halt too long I’ll freeze in place, Jon,” he said.
A shaggy pale shape slid toward him silently and sniffed at his furs. “Hello, Ghost.”
Jon Snow moved closer. He looked bigger and heavier in his layers of fur and leather, the hood of his cloak pulled down over his face.
“Lannister,” he said, yanking loose the scarf to uncover his mouth.
“This is the last place I would have expected to see you.”
He carried a heavy spear tipped in iron, taller than he was, and a sword hung at his side in a leather sheath. Across his chest was a gleaming black warhorn, banded with silver.
“This is the last place I would have expected to be seen,” Tyrion admitted.
“I was captured by a whim.”

what i’m getting initially from the lore is that the arcane flight in ancient times had a decent burgeoning capacity for aethernaut technology and there is a non-zero chance there are other unfathomably ancient early space age artifacts of a fallen past dragon civilization in the sky, and that following the astrolab’s launch the entire planetbound aether civilization was wiped out with little trace by some unspecified cataclysm, likely warring with another primal race, leaving the scientists on the makeshift generation ship as the only survivors.
perhaps aether was not their original name, but over untold tens or even hundreds of thousands of years isolation the remainder of their species, descended from their lost landbound counterpart’s trained aethernauts, shortened the title further and further into simply “aether” and with enough time (and book-eating) further simply forgot there was ever more?
and they get all their battle tactics knowledge from their poorly organized larp sessions of old-enough-to-be-fossilized tapes saved from their lost groundward civilization of ancient dragon star trek and name things like they work for god damn aperture science. “material emancipation grille”. and they’re literally sparkledog mary sues. who the fuck let them name themselves. why did they start naming themselves “xxxdarkstarxxx” i can’t decide if it’s numbly dismaying or numbly fucking hilarious (as all emotions are numb and distant for me these days) that that’s canon and there is now a canon mary sue sparkledragon breed like have they literally just been doing nothing but spinning their wheels creating warrior owlcats rp forums up there since the rest of their species died. when they sent all their best and brightest up there was it like how the entire modern real world tech infrastructure is held up by about 30 furries that if any one of decided to disconnect their pager for a few hours the entire internet and literally civilization itself would collapse in a fire and now all that’s left of their breed are all descended from that.
their culture seems to be clan-troupes, likely descended from specific maintenance teams, of distorted half-religiocized echoes of random portions of long-forgotten ship repair safety training and shakily clung to jumbled impressions of some sort of lost pseudomilitaristic crewed vessel hierarchy, and it’s strangely giving me a combination of the movie passengers vibes and a wikipedia summary i skimmed once of one of the later books in something called the xeelee sequence, which described a long-future descendant of humanity on a generation ship in which these remnants of humanity had devolved so much that they now no longer had much sentience, preforming ship repair and maintenance by pure instinct as a way of attracting mates and having no real understanding of what they were doing or why.
a am however at a loss as to why, of all things their lore could be, their entire gimmick seems to revolve around compulsively eating paper.
after seeing a trailer for something called hyper light breaker, i assume an alleged sequel to something else called hyper light drifter, i have made the retroactive decision to assign them a synthwave-ish, hyperreallife pulsating sleek slanted laser light energy beams making roadways for sleek glowing similarly fizzling near-digital lightcraft sort of aesthetic, vaguely cyberpunk but made from faintly magitech parts, sans any sort of digital artifacts visual additions. the actual aesthetic i am thinking of is not in any way based on the game itself, but instead is based purely on the feeling of the name alone taken out of context of the game it applies to. what type of imagery and feeling of the words “hyper light drifter” on their own with no knowledge of the game inspire. i will likely forget what i meant by this in three weeks time.
#i like that some small attempt seems to have been made to work in science fantasy-esque technicaly worldbuilding themes#even if it's only in the absolute most glossed over surface level mass appeal way#always like stuff that seems to be gesturing at least a little bit at something vaguely like hardish scifi#flight rising#i dunno what the fuck a quantillium astrometics is but tell me more#tell me how the magitek engines work and what can realisticaly go wrong with them#tell me what living in that environment would realistically entail#fiddly sciency realsticish technical and realismish cultural worldbuilding details go brrr#let me know what a world like this would REALLY be like#tell us more about how this 'runes' part of the magic system works#that could be... VERY useful to worldbuilding and player lore if it was fleshed out more specifically#i find it very unlikely that all of their species was sent up on the astrolab#the idea of a species both being industrialized enough to produce a tens of thousands year running generation vessel#and low enough in number to all fit on it at once *and* be able to launch it without anyone being left planetside#is frankly absurd#even in a world with magic#reminding me a little also of alex ries' birrin SPEAR vessel#depression-induced showerthoughts#flight rising headcanons

It needs to be removed from the game and I'd put quickness with it though have seen some argue against the latter given it's been in the game since release.
Low Intensity builds were not as frequently sought after or needed prior to alac being expected (one would even say required) for content when you could pace yourself and had more time to breathe and focus on things like positioning. The manifesto stated that they didn't want players to "play the UI" but alac and quick draw focus to the UI, especially if there's not 100% uptime so rotations/weapon swaps/etc. are no longer synced.
One problem is group encounters have been designed around alac (and quickness) for years. Doing them without is like pulling teeth, if you can do them at all. With leads into how boss health has been ballooning since End of Dragons to be HP sponges in partial response to alac and quick being so common with high uptimes which in turn lets people pump out more DPS faster.
(Though I think another few factors in that is the current encounter team seems to think high HP = scarier boss, not having enough people to properly test encounters and not having a PTR, and plain laziness since making a boss have more health means not having to come up with/design/code as many mechanics.)
Another problem is instead of balancing classes around their damage or usage, time and resources are spent changing them to cram in both alac and quickness so every class has both available via different specs. Damage? Not being used often? Not as important as making them be able to give alac/quick*, and all balance after that will focus on tweaking boon output rather than playability.
Tweaks that come every 4 months...
*except when catalyst was "meta-defining"and got hit with a massive nerf (and made worse than it was before it was buffed because it was so bad on release...) because of one (1) encounter that over 99% of the playerbase did not do and/or had no interest in. Which isn't even hyperbole for those who weren't there for that.
The whole boon system needs a revamp but alac is something that needs to be removed or rolled into skills/encounters for the health of the game.
#i largely quit when they completely changed how scrapper gave quick and which spec it 'was for'#before that i either played support scrapper or an li build because if i wanted to mash buttons constantly#i would have picked another mmo instead of going with one that was slower-paced and claimed to be designed for people like me#reduced playtime even more around soto and stopped completely with last year's balance patch#where they made a big deal about listening to feedback#were told some changes were disasters and should not happen whatsoever#but they were pushed through anyway only for the balance team to apologize and say they missed the mark#FOR THINGS PEOPLE POINTED OUT MONTHS BEFORE AND WITH WAYS TO IMPLEMENT THE CHANGE IN A BETTER WAY#i have zero faith in the current teams and would have never started playing a game with the choices they keep making#and it's just rude af to ask for feedback only to ignore it even when people put free time and labour into it#i look at the last fractal added and the ele spear preview and they still aren't listening to players aka customers#visual clutter has been a major complaint for years and only picked up with eod#but they're still choosing to add bigger/flashier/more opaque effects and that's all their choice not spaghetti code of an old engine

hey wait im also new to f1 but i saw the other ask and i was curious abt what you meant when you said no one will ever do it like nico rosberg?? also retiring after your first championship win is insane lmao what a power move
nico rosberg is just. he’s insane. he’s cunty. he’s wonderful. he possesses sass and audacity unlike any other. we unfortunately do not have time to get into his whole story (my lunch break is only so long) but here’s some highlights:
-technically he’s a nepo baby. his dad, keke rosberg, won the world championship in 1982 and they remain one of the Few father son duos to both win a world championship (don’t ask me who the others are idk but i know they exist)
-he and lewis hamilton met when they were kids in the late 90s sometime and were gokarting teammates at some point in i think the early 2000s? (not fact checking i don’t have the time rn) and they were Besties. they’ve talked about this before, mostly in older interviews, but the gist is that both of them were outcasts from the other karting kid in opposite ways (nico was the son of a champion and rich and lewis was from nothing and pretty much the only poc most of the time) and that drew them together and they were Menaces according to legend. everything was a competition and they trashed hotel rooms and ate pizza and ice cream and kellogg frosties and went to greece and dreamed of being in f1 together
-nico signed with williams in 2006. his teammate was mark webber. and nico had long flowing blonde hair (this is important). he crashed at one race and mark webber said “britney’s in the wall” cementing the nickname britney, like britney spears. jenson button (another driver) said later on that they called nico britney because he was “very pretty” (do with that what you will)
-he was just. insane. cunty. constantly looked like a european bond villain. wore god awful shoes. whole bit. once he stayed in his car when it got craned off the track cause he didn’t want his hair to get wet. which is insane cause he’s wearing a helmet it would have gotten equally as not wet had he gotten out.
-anyway, lewis made it to f1 in 2007 and they had their first podium together i think that year (?) and it’s cute and fun and oh boy you’re not ready for what these two have coming
-lewis won the championship in 2008 (but he almost won in 2007, his rookie year) at mclaren.
-nico went to mercedes when they recentered the grid in 2010. his teammate was michael schumacher, who was fresh out of retirement. (yes the michael schumacher, 7x world champion). michael fucked with nico endlessly according to legend, including making him piss in a bucket pre race because he would hog the bathroom until the last possible second. nico still out preformed him most of the time, and the car was mid as hell.
-michael retired part 2 at the end of 2012. and who replaced him but lewis hamilton
-so the two of them were teammates again. the cards were absolute Stacked against them. because yes they were besties yes they’d known eachother forever but the first person you’re judged against is your teammate. and you’re trying to beat your teammate. and lewis already had a championship. nico wanted a championship.
-2013 was relatively chill. the car was kinda mid. they did well but not fantastic and did some fuck ass pr (highly reccomend looking those videos up)
-2014 they had a car that could win. and they started fighting eachother for wins. they played all kinds of mind games against eachother and withheld stats and nico ran illegal engine modes (supposedly) and lewis said they were no longer friends after nico supposedly wrecked his monaco qualifying one year but they claimed they still supported eachother and were friends off track. lewis won in 2014 and in 2015. but nico was right behind him and he wanted to win a championship, he didn’t want to be a number 2 driver
-so in 2016 nico did some insane shit. he stopped sleeping with his wife so that he could get better sleep or something, he did weird things to cut weight, he basically did everything and then some to win. and then he did. he won the championship and then at the prize giving ceremony announced he was retiring. he didn’t tell lewis this.
more after i get off work :)

you know how to ball (i know aristotle)
sukuna x fem!reader —ᡣ𐭩 fic summary: college!au where sukuna is the star rugby player, and reader plays in college quiz bowls. w/c: 3k cw: inaccurate quiz bowl rep (i only play jeopardy on tv ok pls ignore the actual content and focus on the point of the fic ok ty), a lot of allusions to suggestive content, no use of y/n, reader is referred to as 'girl', and wears a skirt. a/n: i i i idk what u were expecting, but it should've been another taylor fic hehe
"Sukuna! Sir!" You turn your head toward the voice. The man beside you huffs deeply but turns anyway, apologising softly.
"Hey, man," Sukuna mumbles, shaking the hand of the Freshman student who's panting like he ran three miles (he probably did). "What's up?"
The kid eyes you up and down like he's never seen a woman before.
"Eyes up here, bro," Your boyfriend bites, giving him a fake smile. The kid nods quickly, gaze avoiding you at all costs.
"Uh–" He stutters. "Gojo was wondering when you were gonna show up to training."
Sukuna pokes his tongue into the inside of his cheek. "Tell the freak I'll be there after I walk my girl to her car, okay?"
The kid nods and turns, speed-walking in the direction of the field.
Sukuna rolls his eyes and wraps his arm around your head, bringing you into his chest. You giggle at the sudden affection and continue walking to the car park.
"Fucking kids."
"He’s eighteen, Kuna," You laugh, wrapping your arms around his waist.
"I had more decency when I was that age..."
Scoffing, you lean back. "You're joking, right?"
Sukuna raises an eyebrow as you descend the steps. "Watch it."
You snicker and pull away from him, digging around in your bag for your car keys. When you spot the miniature stuffed bunny keychain, you grab it.
You can feel Sukuna side-eying you when you unlock the car. "What?"
He points at the keychain. "Is that the little cat thing you begged me for?"
You don't answer, knowing he knows exactly what it is. "Jellycat."
"Huh?" Sukuna's face scrunches up in confusion.
"Jellycat is the brand. And, yes, it's the one you got me. Don't act stupid, idiot."
Sukuna smirks. "I'll buy you more of them if you keep talking to me like that."
Your jaw drops, and you laugh, slapping him on the bicep. "Fuck off."
But before you can open the car door, Sukuna spins you around by the shoulders and presses you into the side of the car, hands roaming under your hoodie.
"I'll see you tonight," He whispers, lips slanting over yours hotly.
"Mmhm," You hum, running your fingers through his hair. Pulling away, Sukuna continues to press sloppy kisses along your jaw. "Be good at practice. Don't spear tackle Gojo again."
Sukuna scoffs. "That was an accident."
Rolling your eyes, you press your hand to his hard chest. "Yeah, ok."
"Bye, baby," Sukuna's hands slide down to squeeze your ass, and you look at the campus entrance to ensure nobody's there.
"Bye, yourself."
He gives you one last slap on the ass, and then he's stalking away, glancing over his shoulder to check on you as you slam the car door closed and turn the engine on.
Entering Shoko's apartment, the smell of burnt toast hits you in the face. You toe your sneakers off at the door and walk toward the cacophony of voices.
"Sorry!" Choso exclaims in the kitchen, wafting the smoke away with his hands. "Not my fault your toaster is fucked."
Shoko gasps and hits him with a teatowel on the leg. She points at him. "Don't talk shit about my appliances when you ruined all of yours!"
You step into the space, drawing the eyes of the three in conversation, and Nanami and Utahime sitting at the dining table with textbooks scattered around them.
"Thank god you're here!" Shoko laughs, wrapping her arms around your neck.
"Studying going good?" You giggle, waving at the others.
Shoko glares at Choso over her shoulder. "It was."
Choso throws his hands up in defence, and Shoko turns back to you.
"How's Mr Rugby Player?" She grins.
You smile softly. "He's good."
"Being as annoying as ever, I suppose?" Nanami's voice calls, not looking up from where he scribbles down his notes.
Utahime scoffs, placing her pen down on the table. "Not as annoying as Gojo."
"Yeah, okay. Don't say his name; you'll summon him."
Rolling your eyes with a laugh, you walk into the dining room. You take your bag off your shoulder and put it on the table to remove your laptop. "What topics are we doing this weekend?"
Utahime points at the list of past regional questions. "I'm doing philosophy and fine arts, Nanami's math, and you're literature."
"Okay," you sit at the head of the table. "Choso, history?"
Nanami nods without looking up. "And Sho is doing science, like always."
"Sweet," You mumble before your phone buzzes.
baby 5:23 pm morning practice got cancelled 5:23 pm so coming to your nerd fest tmr
Despite his teasing, you feel the wings of butterflies flutter inside your stomach.
5:24 pm !!!!! 5:24 pm can't wait to see my himbo of a bf in a crowd of nerds!!!
You can almost see him rolling his eyes.
baby 5:25 pm call me that again and you'll be using crutches at your comp
"Quit texting," Shoko says, shuffling her flash cards. "We don't want a repeat of last time."
With your warm cheeks, you lock your phone and toss it into your bag. "Sorry."
"I'm not nervous," You mumble, checking the fit of your skirt in the mirror for the ninth time in ten minutes.
"Yeah, you're perfectly calm," Sukuna grumbles in his pillow. He lays half-naked under the duvet, his voice the only sign of life.
You glare at him through the mirror and glance at the clock on the wall—7:45 am.
You inhale sharply and duck into the closet to grab your bag. "I'm going."
Sukuna groans, shifting slightly under the blankets. "Kiss."
Despite his usually cold exterior, Sukuna is always soft around you—something you created.
Rounding the bed, you lean over to kiss his mouth, scratching his scalp with your fingers. A deep, raspy groan sounds from the back of his throat, and you have to pull away before he pulls you onto the bed.
"Starts at ten," You remind him, lips hovering over his forehead. "Be there at quarter to."
Sukuna hums, turning over. "Be the best."
"I'll try," You laugh, shoving your feet into your shoes. "Bye!"
"He's here," Nanami rolls his eyes, pointing toward the crowd. Your eyes widen, and you give your friend a side hug.
You weave your way to the hall entrance, small 'sorry's' and 'excuse me's' leaving your lips. And when you hear your name, you push yourself up on your tiptoes. A head of pink hair stands out against the rest, and you notice he's surrounded by two other giant guys, too.
"Hey," Sukuna mumbles in your hair when you run into him. You grin into his chest and look up at him.
"Hi."
"Baby," He says, voice louder as he pushes you back. "You gotta get up there."
"I know," You sigh, greeting Negi and Miguel with a wave.
"Good luck," Miguel smiles, and Negi laughs. "We'll be cheering you on."
"Thanks, guys," You nod, feeling Sukuna's hands smooth out the collar of your blouse.
Sukuna shakes his head, ignoring his teammates. "You're gonna do so good."
"I hope so," You sigh, hearing the warning bell before the start of the tournament.
"Love you," Sukuna grumbles, kissing your head. You pull away.
"Love you!" Laughing, you walk backwards toward the stage.
"Give the scientific name for Vitamin K1."
Shoko's thumb moves too fast for your eyes to see before she answers. "Phylloquinone."
"Correct." Multiple claps from the crowd make your stomach turn.
The score is 455–460, with the opposing university in front. You wipe your sweaty palms on your skirt, listening to Nanami answer a question.
"Solve this equation for x. 5x=0.2."
His answer is instant. "0.04."
"Right." The host nods, eyes trained on the cards in his hands.
You look to your left, seeing Choso's determined face despite his anxiety about public speaking. It makes you happy to see his confidence grow.
"Who wrote 'Hope is the Thing with Feathers'?"
A brunette answers. "Emily Dickinson."
Your head shoots up in shock. Shoko's hand finds yours under the table while you cringe at losing your question and points for your team.
"Yes!" The host swiftly moves on. "Cogito ergo sum means, "I think. Therefore, I am." By creating this statement, what did Descartes argue?"
Utahime tilts her head as if the answer is the easiest of the day. "That the mind and body are separate entities, with the mind being the essential nature of a person."
"Correct."
You inhale deeply, trying your best to ignore the score. Instead, you squint into the stage light to spot your boyfriend. To no avail, you wipe your eyebrow.
"Believed the rational mind repressed the power of the imagination, weighing it down with taboos; which art movement channelled the unconscious to unlock the power of the imagination?"
"Surrealism," A blonde boy on the other table answered.
"Right. When did the three major shogunates (Kamakura, Ashikaga, Tokugawa) lead Japan?"
Choso nearly falls off his chair when he presses his buzzer. "1192 until 1868."
"Yes," The host re-shuffles his cards and places them on the podium before him. "Last question."
475–475.
"Name the novel: Raskolnikov kills Alyona Ivanovna (a pawnbroker), believing the good he does with her money outweighs the evil of murder."
And before you can press your buzzer, the other university's buzzer sounds first. Your heart drops, and your entire body goes hot with disappointment.
"The Brothers Karamazov, by Dostoyevsky."
"Incorrect."
Your thumb presses the button before your mind can catch up.
"You have ten seconds to answer."
"Crime and Punishment, by Dostoyevsky,” You spit out confidently.
"Ladies and gentlemen," The host grins, turning away from you and to the crowd. "Your 2024 Collegiate Quiz Bowl Champions."
And then the score changes. 475-480.
Cheers from the crowd and your teammates make you jump up. "Holy shit."
"We won!" Shoko yells, circling her arms around your shoulders and jumping. You jostle around as she does so, your face breaking out into a smile, and then a laugh slips from your lips.
Utahime crashes into your back. "Ah!"
You, Shoko, and Utahime hug each other, opening your arms for the boys to join.
And though the room is noisy, the loudest cheers come from the pink-haired man at the back of the room, his two teammates lifting him in celebration.
“Baby, what the fuck!” You hear your boyfriend yell. People around him give him dirty looks, but Sukuna pays them no mind. You, however, feel heat creep down your neck at the unwanted attention.
“Kuna,” You giggle, waving your hand down as a way of saying ‘lower the volume’. You meet him in the foyer of the concert hall.
“I can’t!” He laughs, almost howling. “You’re so incredible. I’m so proud of you.”
The praise makes your cheeks flame, and when Sukuna grabs your face to kiss you, he smirks. But he doesn’t comment. Instead, he places the sloppiest kiss on your lips, and you squeal at the feeling, laughing into his mouth.
Sukuna leans back, brushing hair out of your face. “My smart cookie.”
You roll your eyes and grab his hand. “Let’s go. You need to get ready.”
You pull on jeans and a long-sleeve shirt as Sukuna scarfs down rice and chicken in the kitchen. Sukuna’s rugby game is at 5pm, leaving you 2 hours to get ready and drive him to the field. You’re meeting Shoko there – she wants to see Gojo & Geto play.
Fixing your hair, Sukuna walks into the bathroom.
Whistling, he stands behind you, meeting your eyes in the mirror. "My girl is so fine."
You purse your lips and shake your head, tying the last bow in your hair.
"My girl..." Sukuna bends down to kiss your neck. "Has such a sexy brain."
You snicker and push him off. "Go get dressed, freak."
Sukuna imitates you softly, pulls away and then gets his rugby kit on with a pout.
The popcorn box is hot in your lap as you dive your hand into the matcha-flavoured kernels once again. You and Shoko sit huddled in the stand, clad in blue scarves. You opted for Sukuna’s training jersey over your long-sleeved top without his knowledge, making Shoko tease you relentlessly.
“But you’re you, and he’s him.”
You nod to her rant, ignoring her, staring straight at your snack as you pick the next piece to eat.
“There they are,” Shoko draws you from your daze as she points out Gojo running out of the dressing rooms below. The bright blue uniforms are hard to miss, especially against the green grass. You fidget with your necklace as you watch the rest of the team empty out of the dressing rooms, Sukuna being the last one to exit.
The sight of him in his tight jersey has you verbally reacting. “Holy fuck.”
“Settle down, girl,” Shoko laughs. “Not like it’s your first time.”
You giggle, making note of how big his arms are. Sukuna shakes said large arms and rolls his head in a circle before leaning forward, his hands clutching the hem of his jersey. He glances over at Miguel, who plays in the halves and nods once at him.
After kick-off, in favour of the other team, Sukuna runs forward, tackling the fullback of the other team who caught the ball. The ball slips out of the guy’s arms, and Geto swipes it from the grass. He sprints up the field, dodging and weaving in and out of players, and makes the final steps towards the in-goal.
Shoko shakes your arm as Geto dives onto the grass, the ball dragging along as he scores, and then you’re both jumping up and down in celebration. Your cheers are so loud they travel to the field, and Sukuna looks up toward you. He smirks, accepting a bro-hug from Geto, who praises his tackle.
The game goes on like this until half-time, with the other team scoring twice. Sukuna is exhausted as he walks off the field, his jersey clinging to his body with sweat. He peeks at where you were sitting only a few minutes prior and sees you gone. He draws his eyebrows together and runs his hand through his hair.
His teammates funnel around him towards the dressing room, but Sukuna stands looking for you.
“Kuna!” You and Shoko are waving from the bottom of the stands, giant smiles on your faces. Your boyfriend shakes his head, laughs briefly, and jogs over to the two of you.
“You’re doing so good!” You exclaim, reaching forward to wrap your arms around his waist. His free arm circles your shoulders, and he nods at Shoko.
“Good job this morning,” He comments.
Shoko furrows her eyebrows and scoffs at the out of character compliment. “Seriously? Thanks?”
Laughing, you pull away from Sukuna and take in the sight before you, wishing you could capture this moment with your eyes. His face is flush, and his hair is sticking in every direction, the pink darkened to a burgundy. Your mind wanders to a situation far different and more sensual than the one you’re in currently, and you feel your cheeks warm up.
“Fuck, you’re hot,” Sukuna whispers, noticing the jersey you're wearing. His pearly white teeth gleam at you, and then he jogs away. Your eyes follow him, gaze trailing down his body until you stop at his ass. He looks so damn good in those rugby shorts.
“Quit objectifying him,” Shoko teases, poking your warm cheek. "We're better than that."
You slap her hand away, eyes watering from the cold air. “Shut the fuck up.”
The second half starts and goes by quicker than the first one. Sukuna finishes the game, scoring three tries in the 40-minute half. They win 42-12.
“Kuna, I don’t think you understand how good you are,” You ramble on the way back to the car after Sukuna showered and got into sweats. His fingers are laced with yours, and he doesn’t care when you swing them around. "A hattrick? C'mon!"
“Oh, save the praise for the bedroom, please,” Shoko pleads, a disgusted look on her face. “And everything else, god!”
Sukuna has an insult on the tip of his tongue, but you pinch his stomach, eyes narrowing at him. “No.”
He huffs and mumbles something intelligible.
“Oh, there’s Gojo and Geto,” Shoko sighs in relief, seeing her best friends lingering around Gojo's BMW. “Bye!”
“See you!”
“Thank you, lord.”
You whack his large bicep and shake your head. “You’re horrible.”
“You’re horrible,” Sukuna replies. “Wearing my jersey and expecting me not to get hard.”
You gape at his outright vulgar statement. “Ok, your speaking privileges have been revoked.”
Sukuna scoffs. “My–”
You reach up and slap your hand over his mouth. “Shhhh.”
And when you get in the car, Sukuna can’t keep his hands to himself. His large hand covers almost the entirety of your thigh, and you have to calm yourself down to drive.
“I feel so high school every time I look at you…”
The streetlights go by in a blur, and the radio plays softly as you two go over everything that happened today.
“I don’t know how you people know questions like that,” Sukuna complains. “How are you that smart?”
You shrug, flicking the indicator down. “Just like how you play rugby.”
“They’re completely different.”
“Well,” You tilt your head. “If I tried to play rugby—” Sukuna’s laugh cuts you off. “You think I could tackle like that? Know one-word plays?”
“I mean, you would look so sexy in those shorts.”
“Not the point,” You glance at him, eyes softening at how he’s staring at you.
“You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.”
“The point is,” You swallow, feeling the callouses on his hands rub your skin. “I’ve got my thing, and you’ve got yours. We’re both good at what we do. There’s no comparing.”
“You know what you wanted, and boy, you got her.”
“I’m just so proud of you, you know that?” Sukuna whispers, his voice barely audible over the song. You nod, eyes stinging with unshed tears.
“I’m proud of you, too, Kuna. I’m gonna be a WAG forever.”
As you pull into the apartment complex's driveway, the echoes of Sukuna’s deep laughs and your giggles can be heard in the dead of night.
“I’m sinking, our fingers entwined, cheeks pink in the twinkling lights.”

"I sure do! Watch this..."
"I can make explosive spears and throwables, just like my mom did. I can also propel myself in the air by whipping my tail very fast, which sets off the same flammable compound in my tail surface for an explosive boost. Very handy for movement, but also very loud… not great if you're trying to be stealthy. And yeah, my sibling could do that too, but he was always more interested in doing other things. An energetic but very scatterbrained kid that he was."
[She takes aim and throws the spear somewhere far away. It ignites and explodes with a loud dull bang that shakes the ground slightly]
"I can't do that too often, though. Maybe a handful of times in quick succession before my muscles tense up and burn as if scorched by flames. One time it got so bad that I lost consciousness and couldn't move for a couple of minutes after waking up. That was scary, and hurt like hell... since then I've been more careful. That said, I wonder if there are more slugcats with similar abilities to mine out there? I have not met that many scugs in my life to begin with, if I'm honest..."
"Of course I remember my family, how could I not! My sibling's name is… hmmm, right, let me explain this first. Slugcats have very good sense of smell. Usually, we know one another by our unique scents. They are incredibly complex, but can be written down as series of letters, if you map those symbols to the corresponding scent proteins and other chemical compounds. For example, my scent name would be:"
"Addmitely, this notation method is very over-engineered – a slugcat just knows you are you if they smell you. From what I learned, scugs don't really use a coherent writing system.. of any kind. I think the colonies may use pictograms? I uh, I've never been a part of a colony, so I'm missing a lot of info here. Still, what I wrote on the wall – I have used an Ancient script, which I roughly mapped to key compounds that make a scent. As you can see, it's incredibly long, it can also change over time, parts of it can be masked with non-organic aromas to hide your identity, so on and so forth. To simplify even further, these long strings of letters can be shortened to just the last three or two characters, and this is what scugs may choose to use to refer to one another. Here, my scent name is MGV."
"Then, there are names that resemble the form that the Ancients would use. It's considered more refined, and more common in big colonies where people adopt their preferable roles. Those names are viewed as a kind of «gift», because you receive it from your community. It's a symbol of how they see you, what you mean to them. Of course, my closest family was never a part of a colony… but my mom would still give me and my sibling those special names. I was named «Blue», which is the color of the sky above when it's not raining, and the color of clear water. My brother's name is «Bryn» after a very fragrant medicinal plant that relaxes your muscles when consumed. I always found it funny, as my brother was often the one getting in trouble and giving our mom heartaches."
[She pauses for a moment, thinking intensively]
"Hmm, I never thought of asking my mother about her name. I wonder if she had one? To me and it was always just «mom»…"
"My other parent? I never knew him. Must have left just before or right after my mom had me, because there is literally nothing I remember of him… or them… whoever they were."
[She takes some pearls out from her bag, and inspects them one by one just to keep her hands busy]
"Mom would never talk about him, as if he never existed. And I never questioned her, I was too young to understand and simply accepted everything at face value. It was just the way things were. Would I want to meet my other parent? Maybe, but I doubt it'd make a difference. What would I even say to them? «Thanks for abandoning mom and leaving her to fend for herself»? "
"I don't know. Maybe I'm too harsh. Maybe he was a hero who sacrificed themself to save my mother. That could explain why he was never seen or heard of again. But… I have no way of knowing for sure. It's the life I won't be getting back anyway."
