Ol Doinyo Lengai, la Montaña de Dios.

Ol Doinyo Lengai, considerada la morada de Engai, el dios creador por los maasai, es un volcán activo que se encuentra en plena falla del Rift.

Al norte de Tanzania, enclavado en la ladera oeste del Gran Rift Valley y a orillas del Lago salado Natrón, se encuentra un volcán único en el mundo al que los Maasai llaman Ol Doinyo Lengai, la Montaña de Dios en lengua Maa.

Atemporal y con sus 2.768 m sobre el nivel del mar, se erige, en mitad de una tierra inhóspita, esta impresionante montaña de forma cónica casi perfecta, laderas formadas por cenizas compactadas durante miles de años y coladas blancas visibles desde cualquier ángulo que le confieren una belleza extraña y cautivadora.

Se trata de un volcán diferente, único en el mundo, y es que de él emerge la lava más fluida y la más fría detectada, haciendo que tenga un color negro durante el día, rojo durante la noche, y blanco en contacto con el agua o la humedad.

Y es que no es de extrañar que los maasai la llamen la Montaña de Dios. Su fuerza ha hecho temblar la tierra, de sus entrañas sale fuego y con sus cenizas se abonan los escasos pastos donde se nutren sus manadas de vacas y ocasionalmente las migraciones provenientes del vecino Serengueti.

Alcanzar la cumbre de este volcán resulta grandioso. No sólo por la satisfacción tras el gran esfuerzo realizado, sino por todo el espectáculo, jamás imaginado, que se presenta ante nosotros. La llegada a la cima coincide con la salida del sol, y es entonces cuando todo cobra magia.

Primero una tenue luz, después un sol rojizo y finalmente una luz cegadora que se filtra entre las fumarolas y los conos, invadiéndonos una extraña sensación de paz al tiempo que nos convertimos en testigos del gran poder de la naturaleza. Y al girar la cabeza… las cumbres más altas de África: el Kilimanjaro, el Mt. Meru y el Mt. The final character in my fashion lineup, and the most vile by far. The primary antagonist of my Broken World campaign, the cruel, the malignant, the manipulative SELENE ENGAY!

Ex (though that changed moment to moment) of Maria, lover (and future ex) of Beetle, and boss of our cast of heroes! Evil collaborator with Krakowitz and The Target of Falkas’ singleminded hunt. A mesmerist capable of incredibly feats of lying (seriously she had like a +30) and a cruel hand. Never met a bad guy who deserved to die more

If I could go back I think I’d add even more eyeball Imagery in……… the fit is cool but not nearly creepy enough

Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting northern, central and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania.

The Maasai inhabit the African Great Lakes region and arrived via South Sudan. Most Nilotic speakers in the area, including the Maasai, the Turkana and the Kalenjin, are pastoralists and are famous for their fearsome reputations as warriors and cattle rustlers.

The monotheistic Maasai worship a single deity called Enkai, Nkai or Engai. Engai has a dual nature, represented by two colours: Engai Narok (Black God) is benevolent, and Engai Na-nyokie (Red God) is vengeful.

The Maasai also have a totemic animal, which is the lion; however, the animal can be killed. The way the Maasai kill the lion differs from trophy hunting as it is used in the rite of passage ceremony.

Many Maasai have also adopted Christianity or Islam. The Maasai are known for their distinctive customs and dress but also for their intricate jewellery for decades, and have sold these items to tourists as a business.
