Tickseeds is in full bloom!!!!!! Tickseeds has been used by Navajo as a way to protect against lightening poison and as ceremonial lotion. The Navajo also used this plant in conjunction with other plants to aid with swelling and strains. Zuni women would boil it, producing a red liquid that was ingested to ensure female children. Given that today marks Europe’s colonization of “Canada”, Northern Turtle Island, I felt it was important to highlight a plant most commonly used by Indigenous People.
