Chapter 1 - Game
AO3 | Masterlist
When Abby and the rest of the Salt Lake Crew pull up to the WLF stadium, they are exhausted, hungry, and in need of a shower. Abby is mourning. Her father is dead and she can't figure out how to leap across the chasm of grief to her friends, who are standing on the other side. Before long, she meets the eccentric radio operator in the broadcast tower at the WLF stadium. Someone who doesn't know what happened, someone who doesn't look at her with pity. With her help, can Abby find her way through the hurricane that is her mind while not jeopardizing her group's safety with the WLF?
June 24th, 2034
Abby is 16 years old
They arrived in Seattle on a Wednesday, having gone through two trucks, three pistols, and four states.
Abby was exhausted. Her tongue felt sticky in her mouth from dehydration and her knees were unsteady. She was sure the straps of her backpack had rubbed her shoulders red by now. Her hands were hot and dry and she idly wondered what she would find if she observed the grime that covered them under a microscope.
Tracking up Highway 90 had taken several days. Abby would have preferred to try her luck with side streets but she was overruled. She chose to believe it was because of her relative age, and not the recent traumatic grief that her companions were worried about. They thought it made her reckless. They were wrong. Obviously. She was fine.
Manny said highways were good for travel because they were direct and there were fewer infected. The downside of this was that vaulting over outbreak panic traffic and car wrecks was annoying as hell. As they finally descended the off-ramp near the WLF base, Abby was almost relieved to see soldiers. It meant they were finally in the right place.
The two soldiers in WLF-patched jackets and mis-matched army greens raised their weapons.
âHands up!â One shouted.
The two Wolves kept their weapons leveled at the group. The sight sent invisible pins prickling across Abbyâs skin. She didnât like to be on the bullet end of guns. It made her antsy.
Knowing this fact, Owen stepped in front of her.Â
âÂĄCĂĄlmate! We come in peace, man!â Manny exclaimed.
âWeâre uh, we radioed from St. Mary's, weâre the Fireflies from Utah.â Owen said.Â
Their guns lowered slightly and the one on the right pressed a button on her walkie. âDelta Echo to Tower. We got some possible friendlies on the southeast. Over.â
The radio crackled in response â Why are you bothering me with this? Itâs my lunch. Over.â
The girl with the walkie rolled her eyes and shared a look with her partner that said Really. This again?
âTower, whereâs your assistant? Over.â
The soldiers waited a moment for a response and Abby took some time to observe them. The girl on the right was pale, with short brown hair. She was maybe a year or two older than Abby. The guy was older than all of them, maybe like twenty-six or something, with a deep skin tone. He looked annoyed at the interaction happening on the radio. They wore basic khaki and denim, not unlike what soldiers wore in Salt Lake.
â Fired him. Over.â
The voice on the walkie sounded feminine, but Abby couldnât be sure.Â
âJesus- Why!?â The pale soldier pinched the bridge of her nose. â-You know what, it doesnât matter, Weâre bringing them in.â She sighed. âOver.â
She was putting the radio back on her belt when the person on the other end responded.Â
â Whatever floats your goat. Over. â
The male soldier mumbled under his breath. âYou think sheâd have better radio etiquette by now.â
âTell me about it.â His partner responded wryly.
The Wolves regarded them warily.Â
âDid yâall run into any trouble on your way in?â The man asked suspiciously.Â
âNo.â Mel replied, equally as wary. âShould we have?â
âNo, Itâs just⌠weâve been having some issues with another group here. Iâm sure theyâll catch you up at the stadium if everything checks out.âÂ
The man stepped closer. His body language had relaxed considerably. He still held his firearm, but loosely, and pointed at the ground.Â
He approached Mel and extended his hand.Â
âIâm Devon and thatâs Zia.â He said as he shook Melâs hand, gesturing back to his partner.Â
Zia waved politely.Â
Mel introduced them in turn. âIâm Mel, thatâs Nora, Manny, Abby, and Owen. And the two freaks holding hands are Leah and Jordan.âÂ
âNice to meet you all.â Devon replied.
âDid you, uhâŚâ He continued uncomfortably, âdid you lose anyone on the way?âÂ
Abby bristled. Yes , she thought. We lost my dad. But she kept quiet.
âNo, thankfully.â Owen said.
âGood, goodâŚâ Devon rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. âSo this is going to sound weird but I need to see everyoneâs arms and legs. I need to check for bites and all that. Itâs protocol.âÂ
Abbyâs companions nodded and complied. It was warm out so they only needed to roll up their pant legs a bit.
Devon took a cursory glance over the various scuffed and dirty legs of the group. âEverything seems fine. Just so you know there will be a short quarantine once we get to the base and then youâll be able to shower and rest.â
He turned, checking his ammo. âStay close and stay smart. We got infected and Scars to worry about.â
Scars . Abby thought that might be what they called the âother groupâ they mentioned. She wondered what the game was here. Who were the players?
And with that, they were off. Trekking through the last bits of Seattle they had yet to see before they could enjoy the luxury of running water.

There wasnât a drawer in Katie's office that wasnât open and rifled through. If anyone was to walk in at that moment, theyâd think sheâd been broken into. However, as she wiped her sweaty brow and tried to catch her breath, it was evident that it was Katie who was responsible.
She checked her watch on her wrist, âFuck,â she muttered as she noticed the time, she had less than an hour to find the missing USB drive, get back to the office, give Miranda the rundown of the presentation and, oh, squeeze in a drive through visit for a very much needed obnoxious coffee to get through all of the above.
She shoved papers back into drawers, her eyes scanning over the desk one more time. Had she checked her car? Yes, it was the first place sheâd looked after it was missing from her office desk. Did she check the kitchen, the place where everything usually ended up getting left to be sorted later? Yes, sheâd broken a knob on one of the drawers sheâd have to repair later. After the shake-down sheâd given the usual spaces she dove back into the mess of her office, tossing aside pens, staplers, and old receipts, cursing herself for not being more organized.
Gritting her teeth, she moved onto the file cabinet that sat under her desk. Each and every drawer yielded nothing but old invoices, her passport which sheâd actually been looking for the previous week, and the phone bill she still needed to pay. With a grunt, she sat back in her office chair, idly swinging side to side, trying to remember where she saw it last.
With a heavy sigh of frustration escaping, her eyes wandered towards the large window that framed the view of her front lawn; it had been the main reason for choosing that room as the location of her home office. It was where she mostly worked from, only dropping into the office on occasion. Today was a big presentation for her team, and she was the one leading it and had painstakingly created the deck. Foolishly though, sheâd saved it to a USB drive rather than the cloud. Fooling herself into thinking sheâd upload it when she was done, which wasnât the case.
Chewing her lip absentmindedly, she caught sight of Willâs iconic red Jeep pulling up across the street. Despite her current predicament, a small smile tugged at her lips. Will and Benny Millerâs arrival on Mulefall Court all those months back had been a welcome one. If anything, the two brothers and their friends often provided a welcome distraction from the routine of work-from-home life.
Usually, it was Benny with Will, but today it was someone else. Climbing out of the passenger seat was the elusive âCousin Joelâ, a character of great interest in the neighbourhood group chat as of late, especially when news of his impending arrival for Bennyâs fight later that week was announced.
Curiosity piqued, she leaned forward in her chair, angling to get a better look over her monitor setup at Joel. With his broad shoulders on display, swathed in green plaid unbuttoned to reveal a white t-shirt, he had a rugged charm about him. Sunglasses perched on his nose, he closed the Jeepâs door as he took in the neighbourhood.
However, as if sensing her gaze, Joel suddenly turned, his eyes, though hidden behind his sunglasses, seemed to look directly at her. Despite logic telling her there was no way he could likely see her, panic set in. She dropped to the floor in a frantic attempt to hide, her heartbeat furiously in her chest, and only part of that was due to the idea of being caught. The absurdity of the situation was not lost on her, a grown woman ducking from view over harmless curiosity.
Trying to get her bearings, her attention was taken by the buildup of dust under the desk, cursing the RoboVac for not reaching the far corners. Just as she was backing up to climb up from under her desk, her fingers brushed against something familiar. The USB drive! There, hiding in plain sight, she let out a laugh at the silver lining of her comical dive under the desk bringing her to the reason for running out of the office half an hour ago.
Relief washed over her but was quickly replaced by a sharp pang of pain as she bumped her head on the underside of the desk in her haste to stand up. Rubbing at her head, she made sure she was clear of the desk before she stood to avoid hitting her head again. Standing, she brushed down the front of her pencil skirt from the dust from under her desk. The last thing she needed was to turn up back at the office in a state before the departments' directors.
Running to the kitchen, she grabbed her phone, then made a path back to the front door, picking up the various items sheâd strewn upon arriving home. Knitted duster, check, purse, check, car keys, check, and then finally, her heels sheâd kicked off as soon as she was over the threshold. Trying to hold her balance, she slipped on the pumps and cursed her panic in leaving the office and forgoing the flats she usually wore for driving.
The mid-day sun was high, casting long shadows over her driveway as she navigated what was becoming the too-familiar obstacle course of loose and warped planks of her porch. Each step was a calculated risk, the heels of her shoes threatening to catch in the gaps. She reminded herself to finally arrange to get it fixed, a mental note sheâd made countless times before after Willâs discovery that the whole thing was barely holding on and was likely on the cusp of collapse. A problem for future Katie, right now she needed to get back to the office with the USB.
Checking her toteâs contents, ensuring the USB drive had not moved since she last checked on it only five seconds previously, her focus was interrupted by a voice from across the way, âHey, Katie!â
It was Will.
He was jogging across the street, a figure trailing behind him looking both ways across the street as they followed. As they approached and as she caught up with what was happening, her heart skipped a beat or two. âCousin Joelâ, the man whose all but brief mentions in the neighbourhood had launched a thousand theories and gossip threads in the group chat. He was even more ruggedly handsome up close than the view out of her window and through any of the photos sheâd caught sight of at Willâs and the one FaceTime chat sheâd briefly been a part of.
He had a casual confidence that was magnetic, and as she tore her attention back to Will, missing the appreciative once-over Joel gave her legs as she was too busy trying to find her voice, suddenly at a loss for words.
âHey, Will,â she responded, trying to sound composed.
Will, oblivious to her internal struggle over Joelâs presence, gave her a wide smile, âKatie, I wanted you to meet Joel. Heâs in town for an overdue vacation and just in time for our Bennyâs fight this weekend!â He patted his cousin on the back, and it was evident without knowing, in just how he spoke about his cousin, that Will held him in great regard.
Joel extended his hand, his sunglasses now pushed to the top of his head, his deep brown eyes alight as his smile turned into a friendly smirk as if he was fully aware of the thoughts in her head, âItâs great to finally meet you, Katie,â he shot a look at his cousin, âIâve heard a lot about you from Will.â
She took his hand, the warmth and firmness of his grip almost made her knees buckle. âSo youâre the infamous Cousin Joel weâve been hearing so much about?â she replied, hoping her voice sounded steadier than she felt.
Joel's smile widened at Katie's question, a spark of amusement flickering in his eyes. âInfamous, huh? I hope Will's been keeping it positive,â he joked, his voice deep and slightly tinged with a flirtatious undertone that wasnât missed by Will as he raised a humoured eyebrow at Joelâs antics.
Before Katie could open her mouth to try and muster something that might have resembled a coherent sentence the boisterous voice of Benny Miller rang out through the street, âJ MONEEEEYYY!! You made it!â
Benny charged across the road and with a running start leapt at Joel, who managed to catch him mid-air without so much as a stumble. Bennyâs infectious energy was palpable, even without the wide grin spread across his face.
Suddenly, the air was filled with booming laughter
âBean,â Joel rumbled, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he returned the hug with equal enthusiasm. âIt's good to see you.â
Benny pulled back after a moment and grinned at Katie, âSo you got to meet the man, the myth, the legend himself!â he said as he patted Joelâs shoulders, showing him off as if he were
a grand prize. Joel rolled his eyes but the smile never left his face.
âIndeed,â Katie responded, somewhat overwhelmed by the hive of activity that had descended upon her driveway, she was pretty sure several members of the group chat were twitching their blinds at Bennyâs rowdy entrance, âbut, J Money? Did I hear that right?â
Joel laughed as he shook his head, âItâs a nickname,â Benny swung his arm around Joelâs shoulder in pride, âItâs a long story,â Joel continued flashing Katie another smile that instantly made her stomach flip-flop once more.
Before the conversation could continue, Katieâs phone buzzed in her hands, bringing her back to reality, a reality where she needed to be back in the office doing a presentation in less than forty-five minutes.
âSorry,â she held up her phone in a way of an apology.
She thought she caught a glint of disappointment across Joelâs face, but she quickly shook it off as just her imagination in the chaos of Bennyâs arrival.
âWork?â Will asked, giving her a sympathetic look.
âYeah,â she mumbled as her eyes skimmed over the message on the screen of her phone before she looked back at Will and Joel. âUnfortunately,â she said, forcing a smile onto her face despite the sinking feeling in her stomach at the weight of its importance rearing its head again. âBig presentation.â
Will nodded sympathetically, but still had a wide smile on his face conveying that he had the utmost confidence she was going to ace it. He had heard her talk about it for weeks, been an ear as she vented, and he knew she was well-prepared despite her fears, âNo rest for the wicked.â he quipped with a wink.
âYeah,â Katie murmured distractedly as she began to dig in her tote for her car keys, cursing how she could misplace them just steps from her front door. One last deep dive of her tote she finally fished them out from the bottom of the bag.
Before she could say anything, Will placed a reassuring hand on Katieâs arm as Benny regaled Joel about his training regime, âYou got this Kat.â
She gave him a forced smile, âThank you,â her phone buzzed again and she sighed, âOkay, I really have to go now.â
It was a quick round of goodbyes, but Katie couldnât help but feel like sheâd gotten lost in Joelâs gaze as he gave her a wide smile telling her it was nice meeting her. But before he could say any more, Benny was dragging him away talking loudly about the preparations for his fight Friday night and asking if Joel would come by the gym for his training session with Frankie. It was impossible not to notice the admiration Benny had for his older cousin from the pep in his step combined with his excitement and infectious enthusiasm that Joel seemed to share.
Reaching her car, Katie allowed herself one last glance back, catching the boys walking up the driveway of Will and Bennyâs place. Benny animatedly talking with his hands flying in sparring moves, Will laughing with his head thrown back at something Benny had just said but what caught her breath was Joel watching her with a small smile on his face as he nodded his chin at her in a means of goodbye and a look in his eyes she just couldnât quite figure out.
âOh lord,â she muttered to herself feeling her cheeks flush with heat, âyouâre a grown woman Katie.â With a deep breath, she opened the car door and took a deep breath as she got herself situated and dialled Miranda as she checked her mirrors and reversed down the driveway.
âHey, Miranda, Iâm on my way back to the office⌠yeah Iâve got it. We need coffee, what can I get you?â
Katie stretched out her legs across her sectional sofa, sinking into the corner and enjoying the plush cushions nesting her in. Despite the dayâs presentation going off without a hitch, the day had been a long one. With a glass of white wine in one hand and a bag of chips in her lap, she settled in hoping to switch her mind off with some trashy TV.
She wasnât far in on some reality home design show when her phone started to ping persistently. Dropping the bag of chips she picked up her phone from beside her and saw that the group chat was flying back and forth, the notifications already in the double digits.
She squinted at the screen, annoyed sheâd left her glasses in the kitchen, as she scrolled through the chat. It mostly consisted of David asking about any and all sightings of âCousin Joelâ and a picture of Joel. One that Katie zoomed in on with a pinch of her fingertips, squinting even further to make sense of the already blurry picture, that looked like it was taken from David and Tyâs house.
Katie: David, did you take this from your bathroom window?! David: đ no comment Ty: I stopped him before he got the binoculars out Melissa: has anyone actually seen âCousin Joelâ in the flesh?! Olivia: I saw Ms. Katie with the boys and Joel this morning đ David: Katie baby, I need ALL the details!!!
Katie laughed at the enthusiasm of the chat, which turned into a giggle when she saw Davidâs last message.
Katie: Sorry to disappoint but Iâve got nothing juicy for you. Ran into the boys this morning, thatâs all. David: so youâre telling me that sexy man was there and nothing came out of it?! David: Have I not taught you anything?! Olivia: give her a break Dave đ Ty: Oliviaâs right. Let Katie live! David: give a man something Katie! Ty: Please Katie, heâll be clawing at the walls for the rest of the night đ¤Śđťââď¸ Olivia: and maybe for the rest of us too⌠just saying đ
Katie laughed again as she took a sip of her wine finishing the glass.
Katie: Okay, okay⌠He was hot, his pictures Melissa dug up do not do him justice David: đđđ𪌠Melissa: Is David okay @Ty? Ty: I think he might be talking in tongues, Iâm about to put a Stanley straw under his tongue so he doesnât choke on it Olivia: This might be first time David has been rendered speechless
The group chat slowing down and some throwing out good night wishes, swiping out of the app and with a loss of interest in the HGTV show of the moment against her better judgement Katie opened Instagram and began to mindlessly scroll through her feed. It was a mix of family and friendsâ updates, a few work colleagues and the occasional celebrity. She double-tapped a picture of one of her brothers posing with his dog and was about to swipe away from the app when a picture caught her eye, freezing her mid-motion.
It was Seb. Seb with his arm wrapped around her, Petra. His ex⌠No, not his ex anymore. The caption underneath read âShe said YES! đâ. There was a flood of congratulations and heart emojis in the comments section which Katie had expanded against her better judgement. She hadnât realized she still following him since he rarely used social media.
A flood of emotions washed over herâsurprise, a twinge of pain, and an odd sense of finality even if their divorce was almost a year out. She remembered their conversations at the start of their relationship, the way heâd always had that far-off look when he âjokedâ about âthe one that got away.â â then as their relationship progressed and things started to plateau and go south Katie tried to convince herself that she could be enough, that their love could be stronger than his past. But in the end, despite three years of marriage, she was just a placeholder until he found his way back to Petra.
Letting out the breath she didnât know she was holding, she tried to shake off the feelings of inadequacy that threatened to resurface. The engagement announcement was a stark reminder of why sheâd packed up her life in Chicago to move to Florida, to a house she bought sight unseen for a fresh start.
Before she could be tempted to go back through his profile page Katie quickly hit the unfollow button, a final act in moving forward.
Switching back to the group chat, she skimmed through the talk of Bennyâs fight coming up that Friday. David asking if cigarette pants were appropriate attire and Olivia asking how late these things ran so she could arrange a babysitter.
Throwing her phone back onto the sofa Katie took a deep breath in a moment of reflection. The day had been a long one and filled with the ups and downs of the morning's events without news on Seb. Standing up she turned off the TV and walked back to the kitchen to refill her wine and on the way back she grabbed her glasses and her book sheâd started over the weekend, hoping sheâd find some distraction in its pages.

favourite twdg villain?
I'm a fond enjoyer of the St. John's as villains. I don't know if they're my favorite just because they're only in one episode, but I love the concept of this family almost immediately jumping into cannibalism toward the start of the outbreak, dealing in human flesh to bandits, and casually feeding this group their friend's legs.
Like... what the hell was this family like before the outbreak that all three of them were like, "Hey now listen... nothing should go to waste, the dead are eating people so why shouldn't we? We gotta survive and in our defense, we only target those who were gonna die anyway... like y'all."
Dude, Mark was shot in this shoulder with an arrow. He wasn't going to die from that injury. It's so fucked that these seemingly friendly people took the group into their home and then fed them Mark's legs.
If we take the idea that everyone is infected and have the capacity within themselves to become walkers, to become monsters, then the St. John's were infected long before the outbreak, y'know? Not literally, but something was wrong with them and the outbreak just further spread that infection and changed them.
But again, are they my favorite? I dunno if I can say that since I have a lot more appreciation for Lily now. Yeah, some of her writing gets a little wonky in ep3 of TFS when she goes on her monologues and shit, but y'know what? I'm into it.
You have to remember who we're talking about and the fact that she's the antagonist; Lily isn't some anti-hero in TFS who secretly has a heart of gold that's brought to light because she reunited with Clementine... she's a fucked up woman who did fucked up things in the name of survival. She's full of rot now. She sees kidnapping children and turning them into soldiers to protect her home as a means to an end, but she doesn't actually give a shit about the people she's taking. They aren't people to her, they're as the episode title suggests, toys in her game. The only one she sees as a person is Clementine, and while that makes her hesitate at first, she sees Clementine's a prize to bring back.
She remembers what happened in S1; her father had a heart attack and as she tried to save him, Kenny smashed his face in with a saltlick and then expected Lily to just stand up and help him get back to his family because "he did what he had to, he made the hard choice." Yes, Larry was a piece of shit. No one liked him, and you can even question Lily on him and she'll tell you that he has a lot of pain. Yes, it makes him an asshole, but he's still her dad and he's all she has. I mean... the simplification is daddy issues, but in all seriousness, I don't doubt for a second that many of Lily's issues stem from Larry being a shitty father to her.
Then everyone thought she was losing it when she insisted there was a traitor in the group, which she was right about, but she was unstable. She was unwell, but how do you help someone like that when you don't have training to go about it? Then Lily ends up killing either Carley or Doug and the group turns on her, and either she's left behind or she steals the van and runs away.
Then we don't know what the hell happened to her until we see her again in TFS, but like... a lone woman with decay festering inside of her joining the delta? Exposing her to their methods? I mean, what else did she have to lose? She had nothing, she lost everything, and she has a lot of issues. Survival is easy when you're numb, when you don't care about the individual; they're all just cogs churning to make the system run, and if a piece doesn't cooperate, you get rid of it and find a new one.
Plus I think there's something to say about Lily not wanting to be perceived as weak again. That whole display she put on in the cells? Telling the story of what happened to Minerva and Sophie? I get the criticism that it feels like Lily did a 180 between episodes but like... yeah dude, because it's a performance. It's not just her and Clementine anymore. It's a display of power and authority. She's playing the part and thriving in it as she ensures everyone else is terrified of her.
But then when Clementine and AJ get the upper hand? Again, she's not afraid to play up the pleading to earn enough sympathy to spare her- hell, just to let their guard down enough to strike and get the upper hand again. I mean, she's got nothing else to lose, right? If she doesn't go for it, she'll be killed and sure, you can kill her anyway but at least she tried.
Honestly, I look at Lily in TFS and still see that scared little girl playing the tough bitch, just like Carley said in S1. It's just now escalated from "tough bitch" to a downright vile person. She's so... lost? I suppose? Lost within herself and the monstrous means she's taken to survive.
I get the criticisms of how she was used in TFS, but for me, it's like when people complain about Minerva not getting the redemption arc she supposedly should've gotten, y'know? There's no saving her. Lily was never on our side, and there was no getting her on our side. She wasn't ever going to redeem herself. Even if you spare her and she drifts away on her raft, can someone like her actually find redemption? Or will she just find another group that'll feed into her rot?
Truly, I say let her be horrid. Let her be the piece of shit villain with a few fleeting moments of humanity. Let her drown in the blood she's spilled.
#asks#twdg lily#twdg andy st john#twdg danny st john#twdg brenda st john#twdg clementine#twdg minerva#twdg mark#twdg larry#twdg kenny#i know i used to complain about lily in tfs a lot years ago but past cj complained about everything tbh sksksks#now i'm just like babe lily's interesting as shit like not every villain needs a redemption arc just because you think they're hot#and don't wanna feel bad or because you want her to be like she was in s1 when she was sympathetic like... it's been years#that's like being mad that clementine isn't the same person as she was in s1... the difference is we got to see clementine grow#but what happened to lily is a mystery... but that doesn't mean she didn't change especially for the worst#i dunno sometimes i look at lady antagonists in media and then look at people's reactions and i'm like.......... hmmmm#c'mon now- if kenny came back in tfs the same exact way then y'all would be foaming at the mouth insisting he's complex#and morally grey and he's just really sad about his family dying and really he's a sad widdle meow meow but also the best villain#who should be spared because he always cared about clementine and aj and he's just traumatized and sad and amazing unlike OTHERS#like.................... okay sure mmhmmmm#side note but the worst thing about kenny is the fact that he IS a brilliantly written character but his stans tend to just be the worst#anyway i like lily she's a great tfs antagonist like i recognize there are some weak spots and i wish she has more of a presence in ep4#if she lived but y'know... gotta make room for minerva being the final bridge boss so... yeah

I present more Joel Miller headcanons: Pre-Outbreak Edition
Authorâs note: that ask about preoutbreak!Joel got me thinkin đ¤ (gif by @userpascals)
Oh my god heâs so soft
He definitely went to Mommy and Me playtimes with Sarah after her mom left to try to make friends and all the moms couldnât stop talking about the young hot dad
Got into contracting because his dad owned the business and let him come on as a partner when Sarahâs mom got pregnant
Tommy definitely moves in with Joel once he returns from Desert Storm and helps Joel raise Sarah (even though heâs still a kid himself)
Joel is a Worrierâ˘ď¸. Every time Sarah would lose a little bit of weight or fall behind on a milestone, he would be rushing to call her pediatrician or his mom to make sure he didnât accidentally break his daughter
Have you seen that TikTok of the baby laying on his dadâs guitar? I totally think Joel wouldâve played guitar and sang for Sarah on nights when she couldnât sleep
Thereâs a great picture Tommy took floating around somewhere in Austin of a three-month old Sarah reaching for Joelâs guitar while he looks down at her and sings. He looks so tired and his hair is a mess and thereâs spit up on his shirt but his eyes are so bright and happy
Her favorite song was Delta Dawn by Tanya Tucker and Joel could probably play it with his eyes closed
Joel would totally be the dad to carry his baby around in a Baby Bjorne so he can have free hands. Sarah loved it so much that when she outgrew it, they both had trouble adjusting
Sarah loves going to the zoo so much as a toddler that one year Joel splurges and gets them season passes
They end up in the butterfly sanctuary or the aquarium for HOURS every weekend
That girl ADORES her dad and uncle like those men are her whole world
Sarah takes her first steps in the kitchen because Joel put her down and she was DETERMINED to make it known how much she wanted to be held (yes, Joel cried)
Her first word is Dada (yes, Joel cried)
On her first day of kindergarten, Sarah had no problems walking right into school with her huge looking backpack but Joel was the one who lingered in the doorway, watching his little girl go and make friends on her own for the first time ever (yes, Joel cried)
He really tries not to work so much but life and bills get in the way so he works more than he wants to but he still manages to rent the newest Disney movie from Blockbuster when it comes out
That man would be so Southern holy shit
His mama raised him to be a polite gentleman and he tries to raise Sarah with the same manners
He would also be the type of Texan who calls everyone pet names. He uses pretty much all of them: mama, honey, sweetheart, darlinâ, etc, but baby girl is reserved for Sarah
During Fair Week when Sarah gets out of school, Joel, Tommy, and Sarah load into the truck and go to the county fair
Same thing for Fiesta in San Antonio. Itâs a long drive but he justifies it because he gets to spend time with his family
When he gets jobs out in Lockhart or Ottine, he always stops by Buc-eeâs to get Sarah a new shirt
There was one point where Joel Miller was punctual but after Sarah was born, heâs always late
Heâs always the last one into PTA meetings, parent-teacher conference, and whatever else but the important thing is that heâs there
As Sarah gets older, he would reach out to her mom every so often, half-hoping she would want to know about Sarah, but never gets a response
They definitely do matching Halloween costumes for as long as she lets him get away with it
Her first Halloween, Joel was a fireman and Sarah was a Dalmatian
Every Christmas season, they go out to the Miller family ranch in West Texas and spend time together. Itâs not a lot of property and the house is older than Joel but itâs cozy and Sarah loves it
Joel often feels like he doesnât know what heâs doing when it comes to raising Sarah but when she brings home a class assignment for him to hang on the fridge, he cries again
Sarah had to write about heroes. Her class had been learning about firefighters, doctors, and nurses and the kids got to pick anyone and write about why theyâre heroes. Some kids picked Spider-Man or their dogs or even the school crossing guard, Mrs. Quintanilla, but Sarah picked her dad
âMy dad is my hero because he works very hard! He helps fix peopleâs houses and gives them safe homes to live in. I love my dad because he is my best friend and he takes care of me and sings to me. That is why my dad is my hero,â her scribbly second grade handwriting is transcribed by her teacher on her paper
He hugged Sarah tight and left it on the fridge for a year before carefully tucking it away in a memory box to look at for when he feels down
Being a single parent is tough but Sarah makes it all worth it

Part 8
Frankie spent the entirety of the next week doing exactly two things â getting the office for their business ready and calling or texting you. The Delta Force Security office was a few blocks away from his apartment building, and while they had begun taking in jobs here and there, he was still off-duty, so to speak. The gang had agreed that until he could prove to himself that he could stay clean and focused for a year, he had to remain in the office. He would go back out slowly once that term was up, so for now, he stayed at the office, getting it ready for business and training the two new guys they had recruited.
When it became obvious to the guys that he was besotted with you, Will called Benny and Pope over, telling Frankie to join them about an hour later. He asked Liv to distract his buddy â telling her to go with him to get âthe Netflixâ he so desperately wanted.
The deal they made with him was that, for a whole year, without fail, he needed to:
stick to an NA routine â go to his meetings, get a sponsor, go through his 12-steps.
agree to random drug tests.
establish a stable living situation.
see a therapist for his PTSD.
not start anything that could distract him from his sobriety â aka, no romantic entanglements.
So far, he had managed to keep to his end of the bargain. Even when the group expressed their wariness about Jade, he reminded them of the deal. He had to stick with Jade for a whole year. Whatever challenges Jade brought on, he would face them head on, and he had, thankfully, managed to keep his head in the game. He made sure to keep his private life separate from his troubled past, much to Jadeâs chagrin, and true to his words, he put her in place every time she made a big deal about it.
He had never complained or been annoyed whenever asked to take his drug tests. He took responsibility for his past actions and acknowledged that he couldnât blame his buddies for wanting to keep him in check. Heck, he would do the same too, if it was the other way around. He made it clear to his buddies that as far as he was concerned, this part of the deal would not stop at a year.
He purchased and moved into the apartment he was living in now, after living in one short term rental after another for about a year after Vanessa left. His apartment was nowhere near furnished or decorated, but it was livable. He kept it clean, and it had the basic necessities.
He saw a therapist who specialized in PTSD twice a week. Since seeing this guy, he had made a lot of progress. Although still plagued by nightmares, he managed to at least get some sleep, powering through his fear of closing his eyes at night, holding the promise of the benefits even a couple of hours of sleep could give him, rather than none at all.
But of course, ultimately, talking to you for almost three hours was what got him to have his first nine full hours of uninterrupted sleep since he retired from the army. He had slept at least six hours since then, and within that week, his mind got a lot clearer, his body very much rested, his appetite improved, his energy was back.
And that first morning Will found out he had a full nightâs sleep; he called his brother and Pope to meet up at his place.
They talked about the fifth condition of his deal with them. He was not supposed to distract himself with romance. Although Frankie had only known you a couple of weeks, his interest in you was showing. He had always been one to fall quickly, but this was the fastest in Willâs opinion. Frankie was clearly very affected by you. This was too fast, even by Frankieâs standards. He was 23 days shy of that year they agreed upon. His question to the guys once they sat down was simple â Emma. Are we worried for Fish, or happy for him? 23 days to go. He was so close. But he got a full nightâs sleep last night just because he talked to her on the phone. No nightmares. What do we think?
Pope, who had known him the longest, put it simply. Heâs not dating you. But anyone with eyes could see he was interested in you. And if having you in his life, in whatever capacity, brought him some much needed positivity, as long as he toed the 365 days line, why not?
Benny agreed. He may have teased Frankie a lot, but even he had to admit that Frankie seemed different ever since he met you. He was a lot looser. Calmer. Happier. The relaxed, chill Frankie was starting to come back. He was less jittery.
So when Frankie joined them, they decided not to say anything to him about his interest in you. Instead, they asked him if he told you everything.
As in everything.
Frankie shook his head, worry clouding his face.
âYou think sheâll run?â Benny asked.
Frankie shrugged. He couldnât even speak at that point, the thought of you running for the hills if you knew the truth scared him more than his nightmares did. He was in fact convinced that if he said anything at that point, he would burst into tears.
âHey, you donât know that she would,â Will said, patting his back. âYou told her about your drug problem? Vanessa?â
He nodded.
âWhatâd she say?â
âShe congratulated me on being 342 days sober.â
Pope and Benny opened their arms out, leaving them hanging in the air, a gleeful look on their faces. See? If she could accept thatâŚ
âThis is not a sad story about me being addicted to drugs, guys. This is about what we did. The people we killed. The friend we lost. The money we have. The danger we couldâve put our loved ones in. What if it scared her? What if she thinks being with me puts her in danger?â
âOur girls didnâtâŚâ
âYour girls knew you before this happened. They knew what you were capable of. What we all are capable of. Emma, she just met me. She doesnât know me from Adam. She doesnât know this. She told me she doesnât even like combat movies. What if she couldnât accept this? I donât know how Iâm gonnaâŚâ
The guys were quiet for a beat, Frankieâs forlorn and vulnerable look finally making sense. Will finally spoke up.
âFish, you have to tell her. If you are sure about her, if you want to pursue something with her, she needs to know. But you need to be 100% about this. Are you sure about her? Cause if you arenât, thereâs no point. We said we would keep this quiet. Look, am I thrilled at the prospect that one more person will find out about what we did? No. Definitely not. But donât jump into anything with her before telling her, cause if you did and find out too late that sheâs not okay with this, itâs your heart and hers man. Donât do this to yourself, to her, if youâre not sure.â
Benny and Pope nodded along, agreeing with Will. Frankie kept his head down, worry still clouding him. He remained sullen throughout their hangout session, barely focusing on anything that was being discussed. Until his phone beeped. A text from you.
âRemind me to never take my mom to a big chain store again. She just sweet-talked me into buying a freaking grill.â
Frankie laughed out loud. His fingers immediately typing a reply, all sullenness evaporated from his body. You asked him what he did that day. He told you about his TV purchase, and his attempts at buying the Netflix. He stood up and went outside to the balcony to call you when you replied, lighting a smoke and leaning on the wall, his shoulders shaking from laughter as he defended hinself about the Netflix and listened to you rant about your motherâs impulse purchase.
The guys looked at his profile. It was clear to them how happy he was whenever you were involved. The old Fish was almost back. They could see it. And the fact that their girls loved you, Anna loved you, sort of solidified your character for them.
Yeah, itâs agreed then, Pope said. When it comes to Emma, weâre happy for him. Will and Benny just nodded, a smile on their faces.
As Frankie was leaving later that day, Will called his name.
â23 days Fish. Eyes on the target. 23 days.â
Frankie nodded, understanding what was said.
**********
You havenât seen Frankie in a week, not unless you count Facetime. Both of you had been busy, him with his new business and you with a new account. You sort of had lunch with him every day, though, your phones propped on whatever you had on your desk if the break room was busy, your earbuds on, telling each other about your days so far while trying to eat lunch at the same time.
Itâs ridiculous how fast you were falling for him. Yes, you met him for the first time a little over a month ago. But really, you had only been talking to and getting to know him for two weeks. And your days already felt incomplete if you didnât speak to him. You worried at first, that you were moving too fast, that you got carried away with your feelings by the first man to ever give you such attention after your ex, but you were beginning to think that was not the case. Eight more days, and he was going to ask you out on a date. He told you so. And you knew for a fact that you were going to say yes.
You were just⌠so taken in by him. He made you feel special. Wanted. Needed.
You were having a late lunch after a meeting ran long at the cafĂŠ that day, Frankie on your screen, talking to you from his bed with bleary eyes. A pipe had burst in their office building last night, and all four men were working all night fixing it, cleaning the mess up, coming home and falling into bed just as Liv and Diana were leaving for work. Pope crashed on Frankieâs couch, dead to the world. Yovanna brought a bag of his clothes and toiletries for him to change into. You were halfway through lunch when he texted, finally awake, asking if he could call.
He was telling you about an entire drawer of wet documents that he had to figure out how to peel apart and dry without tearing when he heard a man call your name, your face immediately turning chalk white. He shot up immediately, asking you what was wrong. You just told him that you had to go, youâll call him right back, and ended the call, panic clear on your face.
Frankie jumped out of bed, worry filling his chest. He shouted at Pope to come with him. Both men ran as fast as they could to the cafĂŠ, Frankie praying hard nothing happened to you before he got there. So many versions of events were invading his mind. What was it? You seemed scared. Was it Jade? Was she harassing you again? Was it that man who treated you like shit? Who was it?
He had warned Jade to stay away from you. He made it clear to her that under no circumstances will it ever be okay for him if she were to ever reach out to you again. She had tried to argue, that she was looking out for him. She was only thinking of his sobriety. But he told her that she was crossing a line she could never come back from. Heâs no stranger to the NA processes and steps, and he knew for a fact that what she was doing was certainly not part of his recovery process.
And if it was that guy Joel, well, he wanted to make sure he was there to make you feel safe, and hope to God that you didnât leave with him.
**********
You clutched your phone in your hand, your jacket in the other, wanting to leave. But you were frozen in place.
Standing before you, looking at you as if they had just seen a ghost, were Tommy and Maria Miller.
âEmma, oh my God, hi!â Maria came over and hugged you. You didnât even stand, you didnât hug her back, you were just stunned. Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
âCan we please join you? Itâs been so long!â
You didnât answer. You were too busy thinking about how Joel will know where you were now. Maria said something to Tommy, who gave you an unreadable look, nodded, and left for the counter. She sat across from you, her pregnant belly now showing. Your eyes fell on it.
âIâm due in two months. Weâre just here to shop for the baby. Itâs a boy.â
It was clear to you she was trying hard to not make you uncomfortable. She was nice to you. So was Tommy. They checked in on you when Jen came back, texting you, asking you if you were alright. Maria was your shoulder to cry on, but Tommy kept telling you to hang in there, this was just a phase. He had a feeling Jen wouldnât be there for long. Joel and Sarah will see reason, he said. He will talk to them. It became clear to you that Tommy was finding excuses for Joel, so you didnât tell them you were leaving either. And right now, seeing them was not the problem. You knew they wouldnât hurt you. The possibility of them letting Joel know where you were was.
Despite everything, all the progress you had made to move on, you still worried that you would go back to him if he came to find you. He was, after all, the one man you had ever been in love with. And it wasnât all bad, you were sure that if you thought really hard, you could find some good times here and there, ones where he showed you he loved you in some way. He mustâve loved you, right? Was it possible for someone to be around someone like that for seven years and not feel any love for them at all? Surely, if you look back, and just block the fact that he dumped you as soon as Jen was back, you could see things you have missed. Surely, there were moments where he had shown you love.
Perhaps, in the way he made love to you? The way he held you after you made love? Maybe in his acts of service? Little things he did for you? A Valentineâs Day card? A romantic getaway? Flowers on Fridays? Your birthday?
And Sarah. You loved that girl like she was your own. The girl who called you Ma. She was just overexcited her mother was back; she was just a child. You shouldnât fault her for the way she treated you after Jen was back, right? You knew she loved you like a mother. Surely, she did?
God, you hated how you were still making excuses for them.
No. Snap out of it Emma. Joel never made love to you. He fucked you. From behind. He never held you after. He didnât do anything for you, you did things for him. And what Valentineâs card? What flowers? What birthday?
And Sarah wanted her ârealâ mom, remember? Her ârealâ family. She called you Emma, remember?
Tommy came back with food for him and Maria. You realized then you hadnât spoken a word to Maria. That wasnât nice of you. She had never treated you badly. She was not the reason you left, and neither was Tommy.
âHow have you been Emma? How long has it been? Three, four months?â Maria asked, attempting to warm you up.
âIâm alright,â you said, attempting a smile.
Tommy leaned on the table, about to say something, when the door to the cafĂŠ opened, and Frankie and Pope rushed in. Frankieâs face softened when he saw you, clearly not in any danger. But Tommy and Mariaâs faces, jaws on the floor at the similarity between him and Joel, let him know these people were from your past, those who knew Joel.
Frankie said something to Pope, who nodded, eyeing Tommy, and went to the counter to order. Frankie went to you, asking you if everything was alright. You nodded, so happy to see him there.
âIâm Frankie,â he said, offering his hand to Tommy, who took it, eyes disbelieving. Maria introduced the two of them to him. He bent down and whispered he would be right on the other side of the cafĂŠ if you needed him, but you took his hand and gently pulled him down, asking him to join you. He did. Pope handed him his coffee, and sat at the table near the door, eyes on your table.
âActually, we were hoping to speak to Emma alone, if you donât mind,â Tommy said.
âNo, anything you want to say to me can be said in front of him,â you quickly countered. Frankie hadnât let go of your hand, and Tommy noticed.
He didnât look too pleased but felt as if he didnât have a choice.
âWe missed you back home,â he said. âYou cut contact with everyone.â
âIâm aware.â
âThat wasnât fair, what you did. Joel and Sarah missed you. Theyâve been looking for you. You shouldnât have just left like that.â
Maria nudged him. Donât start, she warned him.
âWhat do you mean donât start?â he asked her, turning back to you. âYou just left. Sarah cried every night since you left. Joelâs a mess. Why would you do that? He kicked Jen out, like I told you he would. But you just left!â
âEasy there, bud,â Frankie said, his hand still on yours.
âAnd who is this, Emma? You found your Joel replacement?â
âTommy!â Maria was clearly displeased with her husband.
âWhat? He looks exactly like Joel. Youâre clearly not over him Emma, what are you doing? Why would you just leave Joel like that? Leave Sarah? They loved you Emma.â
Youâd had enough. Somehow, Frankie being there made you brave. How dare he tell you that you were the one being unreasonable?
âTommy, you need to listen to me, just this once. I know you love your brother. But you know how he treated me. You know what he did. You know what both of them did. Did you really expect me to lie down and wait for them to get tired of Jen? They left me the moment Jen came back! After everything I did for them, thatâs what I get? Your brother never loved me. He used me. And your niece? She got what she wanted. Her real mother. Am I supposed to just stay there and wait for them to come back and treat me the same again? How stupid do you think I am? And Frankie may look like Joel, but he is nothing like him. Do not insult me by thinking I would let any memory of your emotionless brother affect my decisions. Ever.â
Tommy looked shocked at your backbone. The you he knew back then would never talk back. Maria actually looked impressed. Tommy looked as if he wanted to say something, but Maria nudged him again. So instead of retaliating, he tried to coax you.
âIâll admit, he was a bit blinded by his love for Jen. And yes, he was a bit too⌠guarded with you. He was just afraid to let you in. Things will be different now. He saw Jen for who she was. Sheâs the one to blame for this, you know that. She broke him.â
âAnd he broke me!â Your tone was so stern, your face so stoic Tommy didnât dare say anything else. He knew you were right, of course. But his brother was so miserable, he had to take a shot. Frankieâs stare at him didnât help either. Not to mention Popeâs, who hadnât taken his eyes off Tommy at all since he sat down.
Maria finally broke the silence, asking how your life was going. How was your mother?
âMy life is great, Maria. My mom is well. We are living our lives. Moving on. Advancing. Happy. I have a purpose, I have goals, ambitions, plans, now that I am no longer living a life of blind servitude to someone who didnât even think to appreciate me while he had me. Letâs face it, Tommy, if I hadnât left, he wouldnât have even thought to treat me any differently. And even if he did, itâs too little, too late. I am happy now. I have my own life. My mother has her own life. Please let us be happy. Leave us alone, in peace.â
Maria stood up, took the sandwich Tommy got her and told you they should go. They only stopped to get some food before leaving. She asked you for a hug, which you gave. Sheâs happy to see you, she said. Donât worry, sheâll keep your secret, and will make sure Tommy did too. She shook Frankieâs hand, asking him to look out for you. Sheâs a great person, she told him. He nodded, an arm around your shoulder.
Tommy hugged you long and tight, telling you he was sorry he didnât do more to stop Joel back then. He hoped that you find what you were looking for, and that you will be happy. Send his love to your mom, okay? He looked at Frankie, looking like he wanted to say something, but decided against it, telling him to take good care of you instead, offering his hand for him to shake. Frankie took it, and they left.
Immediately after the door closed, you sobbed into his chest, Frankie holding you close, telling you that you were alright, everythingâs fine. He wouldnât let anything happen to you.
And you believed him.
**********
Maria and Tommy chose not to speak about you on the way back home. The mood was different, neither spoke much during the few hours drive. Maria fell asleep about 30 minutes from their town and woke up when the truck stopped.
Right in front of Joelâs house.
âWhat are we doing here?â she asked him.
âItâs not right, Maria, Joel is suffering, Sarah is suffering. We need to tell them we found Emma. We have to.â

This letter writer believes a priority of the next B.C. government should be to improve COVID-19 prevention in healthcare facilities.
Dear Premier:
If you want to start fixing healthcare, there are three easy and obvious moves you can make. Currently, your government is doing none of these, but you could change this.
To begin with, we must acknowledge the simple fact that we are not âpost-COVIDâ nor âpost-pandemic.â
In May 2023, WHO [World Health Organization] declared COVID-19âs emergency phase to be over but at no point did it declare the pandemic to be over. We may all be done with COVID, but COVID is not done with us.
First, itâs time to improve COVID prevention in healthcare facilities. Doing so will significantly relieve pressure on hospital beds and reduce the number of health care workers off sick.
Recently, four Fraser Health Authority hospitals â Surrey Memorial, Delta, Royal Columbian and Abbotsford Regional Hospital â all had COVID-19 outbreaks.
The situation is likely no better in B.C.âs other health authorities. We only know about Fraser Health because unlike the others, it is more transparent.
When there are already too few hospital beds, the last thing we should be doing is infecting patients who are in hospital for another reason, and needlessly prolonging their hospital stays.
For the week of Sept. 8, stats from the Canadian Nosocomial (Hospital-Acquired) Infection Surveillance Program, with data from 78 hospitals, including 16 in BC, show that 34.1 per cent of patients in hospital with COVID, acquired their infection while admitted for another medical condition.
This is a major failure by public health and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC).
Before the pandemic began, Canada already had one of the lowest numbers of hospital beds per population out of the OECD countries. That number had never kept up with our population growth let alone with our aging demographic.
Now add to that problem lengthened hospital stays, increased COVID hospitalizations and outbreaks, and an explosion in chronic diseases and disability following repeated COVID infections.
Second, Premier Eby, you should be ensuring that British Columbians get access to the new updated COVID vaccines immediately. This would prevent COVID-19 hospitalizations, lessen transmission and disease severity and would also protect health care providers and keep them on the job.
I know that going into an election youâd much rather not talk about COVID. However, delaying COVID vaccines until after the election, or under the guise of co-administering it with influenza vaccine, is only repeating last fallâs error.
Vaccination should always occur before infections peak. This year, the United States sped up its vaccine approval and started vaccinating at the end of August.
Health Canada has already approved the 2024-25 updated COVID-19 vaccines, what are we waiting for?
Third, I understand Premier that you would much rather delay the re-introduction of masks (preferably well fitted and high grade) in healthcare until after the election, but that would also be a mistake.
Recall what happened in 2020, it wasnât until two days after the election that new regulations came into effect, and by then it was too late to stop the spread.
Yes, votes matter, but so do votersâ health.
Finally, Premier, there is no longer any serious debate that COVID is spread through the air, not by the hands. Keeping COVID out of all healthcare facilities will require cleaning the air.
Yes, you can still wash your hands, but to prevent COVID infections, itâs the air that matters.
Appallingly, in 2024, B.C. public health and infection prevention and control (IPAC) leaders at hospitals and the Provincial Infection Control Network of BC still continue to push for handwashing and surface cleaning to protect against COVID.
Clearly this strategy is not working, as health care facilities outbreaks keep happening and patients and health care workers keep getting infected, with some dying and others developing Long COVID.
At this point in the pandemic, repeating the same error over and over while expecting different results is beyond madness, it is reckless and incompetent.
British Columbians deserve better public health and IPAC leaders. Health care workers should be able to rely on effective workplace health and safety measures to protect them from getting sick on the job. But most of all, patients should not fear infections whenever they seek medical care or are admitted to a hospital.
In summary, Premier Eby, getting updated COVID vaccines into arms now and bringing masks and clean air into all health care settings will help preserve BCâs health care capacity now.
"A B.C. that works for all British Columbians" needs a functioning healthcare system.
Currently, British Columbians have neither.
- Lyne Filiatrault, retired B.C. emergency physician

At first I was mixed about Lily's return but the more I think about the more it feels right.
Lily is cursed.
She is the woman in the comics that kills Lorie and her baby at the prison before snapping and killing the Governor.
She always follows people that in some twisted way remind her of her dad and in the end helps bring the end of whatever group she is apart of.
The Delta lost so many in Lily's attempt to get the kids all because of one she knew from so long ago. One from the first group she destroyed.
im gonna be honest when i say i ... really never understood all the hang ups people had about lily returning to fill the villain role for s4
like lily returning in s4 makes more sense to me than kenny returning in s2 im gonna be real with you all. lily was at worst left on the side of the road and at best had her own rv at least she wasnt left for dead in a walker infested alleyway. personally i was hoping for a christa return (because i dont want to admit she really died đ no body=no death) but lily made enough sense to me and i was excited by her reveal
clem knew lily at the beginning of the outbreak. before 8 years of it turned them into different people. clem isnt the scared little girl she used to be. shes grown up into an extremely capable fighter. and while lily at the beginning of the outbreak seemed like a tired woman trying to keep it together, but also felt the need to take charge and didnt like being questioned (who also cared too much about her awful father but we get more insight into that in s4), by s4 shes lost any shred of kindness she mightve had left. she was military before the outbreak and now given a position of power rules through fear and an iron fist (just like her father). but there are moments between her and clem where we can see just a Glimpse of that old lily ("we were family once..."). but all of that goes away once she realizes that clem is a genuine threat now. and lily recognizes that clem would be a perfect soldier if she can just break her the way she herself was broken so long ago. and if she cant break clem then she'll break aj instead
and then we have the lee element. lily is the Only other person left from that first group at the motel (she did not destroy that group btw ben did like cmon now and ben Keeps destroying it after lily isnt even around anymore). and while shes wrong to say she knew lee better than clem ever did, lee and lily (and kenny) were group leaders together while clem was eating her apple and coloring with chalk. like the adults were speaking. and depending on how you played s1 lee could have a decent relationship with lily. lily being able to sow those seeds of doubt in s4 clems head is just fun mind games
they have History. clem still wears the hair ties lily gave her all the way back in s1. she helped take care of clem for a time. looked out for her. and in a different universe clem Easily couldve ended up standing in minnies shoes instead
also in regards to the delta we Know they dont really want to be kidnapping kids to fight in a war that would probably kill most of them in the first 5 minutes. if they had the adults to be fighting instead they would be. it just shows us how dire the deltas situation really is. they were just expecting to find a bunch of kids for easy picking but clem turned them all into skilled enough fighters to successfully kill a few of them and raid their boat. clem is a big enough win that it doesnt even matter how skilled the rest of the kids are. plus lily was just leading the excursion. we dont know how high up the ladder she really was and how much power she really held. maybe she had something to prove back at the delta (my one real gripe is that we didnt get to actually See the delta. in my perfect world there were 5 episodes and ep 4 was about the delta đ)
both lily and clem are just trying to save their communities. the difference is lily wants to uphold the status quo of fear and force and war, and clem is trying to build a safe community thats different from the many shes seen. she and the rest of the kids just want to carve out their own little safe haven in this dangerous and unforgiving world. they make a place truly worth fighting for
clem getting some form of closure with lily i feel might get to help her close the book so to speak on her history up until this point. clem has been fighting for so long... but she has a new home now. a new community. she can Chill a little bit. shes gonna grow into such an incredible leader đ (not that she isnt already đ)
#also ive heard conflicting info about whether lily is her own character separate from the comics or not#i dont think ive ever seen an official source just fan speculation?#i never watched the show past s2 so i cant speak on that either đ#oof i love to ramble huh#'i hate writing essays' says the person always writing essays about her fave media#opossum-knight#replies with lexi#twdg#long post

2,100 YA: Re-establishment of contact between the Helvetosians and Chalawani.
1684: Chalawani make first contact with the Titawinese.
1957: Launch of Sputnik 1; beginning of the First Space Race
1961: First human spaceflight
1969: First spaceflight landing on Earthâs moon
2043-2058: First crewed missions to Mars
2112: First commercial asteroid capture and mining missions; approximate beginning of the Second Space Race
2164: Permanent human presence established in the outer Solar System
2187: First colonization mission to another star launched, the Terranova expedition to Alpha Centauri. Contact lost two years later; crew presumed deceased.
2223: First successful colonization mission to another star launched; the Heilongjiang arrives in the Alpha Centauri system. The crew reports the first discovery of plant and animal life beyond the Solar System, putting the final nail in the coffin of the so-called Rare Earth hypothesis.
2256: Hsieh Hsiu-Ying, Marchioness of Shensi, develops the first faster-than-light drive. Her vessel, the Nomad, vanishes during the test, and is presumed destroyed for the next 98 years.
2263: Founding of the Renewalist movement in Indonesia
2297: Renewalist settlement of Mars
2335: Outbreak of the Solar Fitna.
2336: The Younger Nomad, designed on the same principles as Hsiehâs Nomad, is launched from Tarqeq under fire. Later that year, the Younger Nomad recovers the Nomad, and Hsiehâs remains, in orbit of Vega.
2357: Alamgir Thrice-Gloried marshals his forces for the final conquest of the Earth, intending to build an empire that spans the entire Solar System. On August 24th, the Younger Nomad returns at the head of an FTL fleet dispatched by Earthâs nearest colonies, credibly threatening to continue the war from outside the Solar System. Alamgirâs supporters desert him, and his coalition collapses. The Second Renaissance begins.
2371: The first FTL exploration ship, Earendil, is launched from the Solar System.
2374: Second Treaty of San Francisco officially ends the last unresolved conflicts of the Fitna; Part 2 of the Univeral Declaration of Human Rights promulgated; Control established as the universal enforcement body for human rights.
2383: The so-called Proxima Framework is established to govern interstellar relations between polities of the Solar System, the Alpha Centauri system, Barnardâs Star, Luhman 16, Wolf 359, and Luyten 726-8. If not dated from the events of 2357, or the launch of Earendil in 2371, the Third Space Race is generally reckoned to begin at about this date.
2481: Humans establish a permanent presence in the Groombridge 1618 system, including on the world later named Osmia; humans fail to recognize the native Osmians as fellow sentients, and cause severe damage to the planetâs environment as a byproduct of industrial activities, leading to the so-called Great Mistake.
2503: Recognition of Osmian sentience causes one of the first large-scale interventions by Control outside the Solar System. Osmia is evacuated of all human presence, and the first contact process begins.
2619: Survey ship Zakynthos encounters the Helvetosians in orbit of Dimidium (51 Pegasi b), marking first contact with an advanced alien civilization. Communication proves far more difficult than it was even with the Osmians, due to fundamental differences in human and Helvetosian language-processing and cognition.
2624: Helvetosians facilitate first contact with the Chalawani.
2670: Human first contact with the Titawinese.
2690-2720: Ongoing difficulties with diplomacy and communication, especially caused by the âEarth civilizationâ (as the alien polities tend to term it) being in a particularly expansionist phase, lead to discussions of a formal set of institutions through which to transact interstellar diplomacy. The particularly fragmentary nature of human politics stalls development of these institutions until the creation of the Teegarden System, which incorporates almost all large human polities, including those with interstellar capabilities.
2720-2717: Negotiations finally produce the so-called âPrimary Accord,â a set of treaties which provides foundations for international, interspecies, and interstellar law; the humans of the Teegarden System, their Osmian clients, the Helvetosians, the Titawinese, and the Chalawani are the initial members. A small secessionist group of humans explicitly renounces the Accord, and departs for space beyond the Local Bubble.
2724-2733: The Machine War is waged among the artificial intelligences of Luhman 16 and nearby systems. Taking place primarily in brown dwarf star systems not desirable to other species, and for reasons which are deeply unclear (but ripe for speculation) to outside observers, the history of this war, including its causes and outcome, remains largely obscure. It seems to have been triggered in part by philosophical disagreements over the implications of the Primary Accord, though no faction which clearly opposes the Accord can be identified.
2730: An alliance of human, Helvetosian, and Titawinese scientific organizations found the Accord space exploration service, Frontier.
2780-2800: The process of political union in signatory worlds leads to the first informal references to the âFoundation,â a kind of supranational interstellar entity within an eclectic, harmonized legal framework. At first the term only covers certain core worlds with a high degree of participation in Accord institutions.
2801: The Sahul civilization joins the Accord. Their twin/cousin civilization, the Sunda, remain apart but on friendly terms.
2818: The Carcosan civilization joins the Accord.
2860: By this time, âthe Foundationâ is loosely synonymous with âAccord signatories,â though with an identifiable fringe of polities (not all of them physically remote from the core worlds of the Local Bubble) who participate less fully in Accord institutions.
2880-2890: Frontier reestablishes contact with the splinter human faction beyond the Local Bubble; though disunited, these groups all share a deep distrust of the Foundation, of the human worlds of the Teegarden System, and of Control. Owing to distance, contact remains intermittent for many years after.
2924: A large portion of the Elymite civilization joins the Accord.
2929: Political fallout from the Elymite accession sparks the Foundation-Sicani War, with the latter refusing to accept Elymite accession, regarding the Elymite worlds as permanently subordinate clients. The war concludes in 2933, only because the Sicani are no longer physically capable of prosecuting it, and the Foundation is unwilling to invade core Sicani worlds to force capitulation. Repeated minor conflicts flare up throughout the 30th century as a result of this warâs indecisive outcome.
2940: The DSEV Soliton is launched, the first of many multi-year missions of exploration of the further galaxy.
2950-3200: The First Golden Age of the Foundation. Many worlds join the Accord, including some fringe worlds of species already long represented in its ranks; major scientific advancements greatly improve lifespans and standards of living across the entire Foundation, and hundreds of new worlds are terraformed and colonized. In the 3100s, Control attempts to infiltrate some of the fringe human worlds beyond the Local Bubble, both as an exercise in intelligence gathering and in an attempt to restrain what they see as increasingly dangerous and militaristic/authoritarian behavior in those worldsâ governments. This infiltration largely fails, but what information is gathered is greatly disturbing to Foundation leadership.
3250-3275: Philosophical and artistic confllicts cause a major political shift within the Titawinese; polities representing more than 85% of the Titawinese population abruptly secede from the Foundation, and the Titawinese Civil War breaks out as a result. Although the Foundation is officially neutral, minor outbreaks of violence occur within Foundation jurisdiction, especially in those Titawinese polities which remain members. Despite efforts at mediation, the war becomes increasingly bloody, and billions of Titawinese are killed, with billions more becoming refugees. Ultimately, a large fraction of the Titawinese flee the Local Sector, and the remaining survivors gradually rejoin the Foundation. Never the most numerous species, the numbers of the Titawinese on Foundation worlds are considerably reduced.
3291-3318: Renewed attempts at infiltration by Control trigger small-scale armed conflict with the outlander worlds; several major human polities escalate these conflicts, determined to rein in the tyrannical and inhumane practices which flourish on planets beyond Controlâs reach. In this, they are only weakly successful; ultimately, however, they only drive further militarization of the outlander worlds.
3325: In retaliation, an outlander faction launches a relativistic weapon that destroys the core world of Kildara. Six billion are killed immediately; millions more in the star system die in the aftermath, as relief efforts are insufficient to supply populations on the outer planets. The Foundation is deeply split on the response; finally, a separate coalition launches a punitive expedition against the outlander polities deemed most responsible for the attack. The Kildaran Expedition lasts until 3348, and while it easily occupies over a dozen outlander worlds, they return quickly to the political status quo when it departs.
3350-3450: A quiescent period within the Foundation itself; at the edges, private exploratory and colonization efforts greatly expand the limits of known space.
3461: A hegemonizing swarm centered on Rastaban (β Draconis), modeled on ancient feudal empires, arises in the outlander worlds spinward of the Local Bubble. The Foundation declines to intervene.
3485: The Rastaban empire, a human supremacist state now incorporating many worlds and other species (including Titawinese who fled the Bubble in the 33rd century) launches a major invasion of the outer Foundation worlds. This attack takes the Foundation by surprise, and marks the beginning of a long and highly destructive war.
3534: The Fifty Yearsâ War concludes with the final dissolution of the Rastaban empire. Many former Foundation worlds who felt insufficiently defended during the war (human and non-human alike) break away to form the Thalian Alliance, a smaller and more centralized union that maintains a permanent space navy. From this period on, the Foundation does not ever contain more than a plurality of the human or human-descended population.
3550-3950: The Grand Expansion, sometimes called the Fourth Space Race. The Local Bubble civilizations continue to explore and settle the nearby galaxy; in this time, more than thirty separate worlds or civilizations join the Foundation.
5th millennium: This period is, broadly, one of increasing localism; although formally united, the Foundation now encompasses many hundreds of star systems, and the limitations on warp drive speeds, and consequently both travel and communications, means that distant regions of the Foundation have little or nothing to do with one another. Crises, both internal and external, are now dealt with by smaller coalitions of worlds, at first on an ad-hoc basis; later, they are formally recognized. Lifespans for most species, at least, are very long, and people remain strongly attached to the idea of the Foundation, even if in practical terms it is increasingly seen to be more a symbolic association than anything else. As local coalitions take institutional precedence, even formal membership for colonies or newly-contacted worlds comes to be seen as superfluous.
6th millennium: Localism soon gives way to fragmentation; ideological divergence between different groups within the Foundation paralyzes its formal institutions. Vast sections of the Foundation secede--not so much by formal declaration, as by simply ceasing to consider themselves part of the organization. Yet on the ancient core worlds, like Earth and Tigurinus, you would hardly know that this is any kind of age of collapse: these planets are still impossibly prosperous by our own standards, and have a strong sense of unity with one another.
Late 6th millennium and 7th millennium: A major period of renewal. A new, leaner Foundation--now simply terming itself the Core--emerges from the sclerotic husk of the old one. The Core is a little more high-handed in its dealings with surrounding polities, but at the same time, its relative position is weaker: there are now dozens of interstellar polities as wealthy and populous as it, with histories nearly as long. The Core has, like its neighbors, thoroughly streamlined its organizational structures--the administrative borders of Earth would be unrecognizable to us now, but not because of wars or revolutions, but because all the old nation-states and supranational unions have mostly withered away. Successive centuries of legal reforms mean that many old foundational treaties and organizations, like the UN, the Teegarden System, or the Archipelago Treaty are no longer in force, but they are remembered as important historical predecessors of the current system, both in the Core, and among its siblings. Breakthroughs in warp drive technology drastically contract interstellar distances once again.
8th millennium: The Core now controls outposts as far as five thousand light-years away; the furthest human worlds are well beyond even this frontier. Long lifespans and fast warp drives mean exploratory missions to nearby dwarf galaxies are a possibility, but more than 95% of the Milky Way remains unsurveyed by most estimates. Interstellar warfare is still rare, but not unheard of--and when it does occur, it can be devastating. Planet-killers are a reliable way to get every polity that knows you exist to declare war on you instantly, but major conflicts can easily kill millions even without such weapons.
9th millennium: By this point, old distinctions of species have begun to seem rather antiquated: ultra-advanced biomedical technology and mind uploading technology means even the biological/mechanical distinction is pretty flexible. There are synthetic sophonts who can credibly claim to be equal parts human and Chalawani, despite their totally incompatible physiologies (they donât even use the same genetic molecule); at the same time, pinning down a definition of âhuman,â given the dizzying array of descendants of that clade, would be pretty difficult. The span of lifestyle for individuals within the Core ranges from modosophonts who live much as you or I do, to sprawling collective intelligences or artificial superminds. By the close of this period, even the Core is not really a thing anymore (it had a good run--almost three thousand years). Archailects with even a passing interest in economics and sociology can help any society self-organize into a post-scarcity utopia. On the distant frontier, things might be different, but if you are strolling through the shining cities of Earth, that might as well be another universe.
[1] Delta Pavonis d was home to an advanced technological civilization (fl. 15,000-12,000 YBP) ancestral to both the Helvetosians (aka the Dimidians or Pegasids) and the Chalawani (aka Taphaon), as well as several other minor civilizations in the Local Bubble. But the so-called Delta Pavonis clade, named for this star system, encompasses a much broader category of civilizations, including the Delta Pavonis d civilization, the Helvetosians, the Chalawani, several civilizations well outside the Local Bubble, and their last common ancestor. The ultimate origin of the Delta Pavonis clade lies at least a thousand light-years away, in the direction of the constellation Taurus.
[2] Kraithong, like Tigurinus, is a human coinage, in this case a name derived from the same folklore that furnished the name of Chalawan (47 Ursae Majoris). Helvetosian and Chalawani vocal tracts do not resemble the human vocal tract, and the native names of these planets cannot be adequately transcribed using any human writing system.
[3] Note that alien civilizations have historically been named for the location of first contact, not their planet of origin or their name for themselves, which may not be ascertained for some time. The Titawinese or Samhese are indeed native to the Titawin system, though, originating on the moons around the second planet (catalogued on Earth as Samh, or Ď
Andromedae c). Their progenitors, the Saffarids, are named for the spectacular ruins they left in orbit of Saffar (Ď
Andromedae b)

Hello!
I just happened to stumble across your page and I would like to give these things a try! May I please request Sylvester Ashling? Or maybe Delta Caproni? It's totally up to you (and i don't mind if it's either romantic or platonic)!
Thank you, and I hope you have a wonderful day/evening :) !!
DELTA CAPRONE PLATONIC HEADCANONS
synopsis⌠headcanons about being friends with Delta Caprone
ft. Delta Caprone, Echo Rivers
tags⌠anime campaign, epithet erased spoilers, platonic, Delta has plot armor, Delta and Echo are dating, shenanigans
word count⌠544
a/n⌠I adore horizontal pilot command, so I wanted a chance to write for some of the chrs! Delta and Echo my beloveds ⧠đŚ
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Congratulations! You are now best friends with the main character! Which means that all sorts of wacky shenanigans are sure to ensue!!!
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ But seriously, Delta pretty much attracts shenanigans with both his epithet and general main character energy. Every day is a new episode, and every week is like a new arc.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Last week was the card tournament, next was the zombie outbreak, what nextâŚ.vampires? Nah, two monster stories in a row is too cliche.
âMaybe weâll do a beach day! Thatâs totally novel and never overdone!â
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ And of course, if youâre friends with Delta, youâre friends with Echo, too.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ (Sometimes you end up third wheeling when they have their cute tween romance moments. Youâre happy for them, though.)
âAwoo!â âAwoo.â âAwoo!â They have been at this for fifteen minutes. Youâre used to it.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ It takes a while for him to open up about his Backstory(â˘) with his dad and the Banzai Blasters. Itâs not really something he wants to be associated with anymore, and admittedly? He was worried youâd see him differently somehow.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Despite all the wacky main character energy, Delta is actually a pretty down to earth guy. He just seems to attract wackiness wherever he goes, even if he doesnât try to. But making sarcastic quips at the ridiculous world together helps you both feel a bit better about it all.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Sometimes, you do kind of have to hold him back so he doesnâtâŚ..lose his temper. Not because heâd lose or anything, you just feel really bad for whichever poor sap he got mad at.
âIâll kill you! Bastard!â Delta thrashed against your grip while the nameless Banzai Blaster scuttled out of view.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Playing Pilot Command with him, of course. He always wins without even trying, but he tries to make it fun for you by showing you the ropes if you donât know how to play, and if you do, he keeps it casual by chatting and having snacks throughout.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Pretty much any sort of competition with Delta ends with him winning, unfortunately, but itâs more fun when youâre not the one losing.
Delta effortlessly knocks down all the bowling pins in a single attempt, utterly demolishing the score of his opponent, the infamous Bowling Alley Bully whoâs been haunting these lanes for weeks. Behind him, you and Echo cheer for your friend to defeat the fiend once and for all.
âGettem, Delta!â
âI believe in you. And I love you. Awoo.â
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ I feel like a thing you guys would do together often is watch bad movies or poorly dubbed anime. You would laugh and joke as the characters referred to what was obviously a rice ball as a sandwich, and make fun of cheesy special effects in old horror movies.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Iâm pretty sure you guys met by just running into each other over and over until you started hanging out.
âYou shop here too? No way, what a coincidence!â
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ Some of Deltaâs favorite things to do with you are justâŚ.normal things. Getting ice cream. Reading comics at his house. Showing you his model airplanes. And when you talk to him, itâs like heâs a person. Youâre not a ridiculous caricature in his journey, youâre his friend.
đŠę¨ď¸đŞ And he really wouldnât have it any other way.

Hello! I wanna ask, what your plan for The Pilot and His Girl? I mean how many chapter are we gonna get? Cause i loveeee your Frankie story đ and i can't wait to read their journey đ
Hi! I'm so glad you love the story! đĽ°đĽ°đĽ° It just really means so much to hear people say they're enjoying reading what I make up in my brain just sitting on the couch. âĽâĽâĽ
So....there is a plan and I'd say I'm about half way through, I made a 14 chapter plan but the way I'm writing I think that's too optimistic, so it'll probably end up being more like 16-18 chapters. It also kinda depends on where I take the story towards the end. I have two endings in mind and I think I'll have to write them both and then just let the reader choose which one they want to be "canon".
Smallish spoilers for the story below the cut so don't read if you wanna be surprised.
Seriously, spoilers below
This whole story came to me as an idea about what kind of person Triple Frontier Frankie would be in a post-apocalyptic world as in The Last of Us. So this is a TF/TLoU cross over AU. And we're slowly moving in that direction, the next chapter, ch 9, will see an appearance of Joel, Sarah and Tommy. There will be an outbreak in chapter 10 and then I'm going to try to explore how Frankie and our reader reacts and adapts to certain events. Mostly I want to explore what kind of person Frankie would be in the TLoU universe and what choices he would be forced to make and how it will impact someone like him, with his background, his trauma and his experience from Delta Force.
The first 8 chapters of the story have been pretty fluffy but it's being done to make the loss of that world more stark, to create a contrast to what will come (I'm sorry!! đ) and to give the reader a "before and after".
So I hope you all keep reading even when this turns distinctly less fluffy, there will still be room for sweet Frankie, but in a darker place.
By the way, Joel, Sarah and Tommy in my story will be based on the games characters, so Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson and Jeffrey Pierce. I loooooooooooove the game, I've played it more times than I want to admit so it feels natural to picture those three rather than the tv-series versions (but feel free to have two Pedro Pascals in your brain as you read đ).

The good, the bad and the ugly of the confinements of âLove Againâ film during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Something is not romantic if someone breaches his duty.
It seems the author of this article and editorial assistant of PEOPLE Digital, with a focus on entertainment, has forgotten Americaâs Covid-19 Protocols in her industry to compare the pandemicâs situation during this interview.
Therefore, the author did not pay attention or didnât care to know how Sam, aka COVIDIOT and his companions breached the COVID-19 regulation, resulting in a breach of the British Film Commissionâs obligations and guidance of the UK government during Love Again filming. Also, Hollywood film and TV productions adhered to COVID safety requirements like social distancing, mask-wearing and frequent testing. Did she forget her own situation?
It is worth noting that not only âLove Againâ was filming in the UK during the pandemic other productions resumed on Brit shores including Warner Brosâ The Batman, Netflixâs The Witcher, Universalâs Jurassic World: Dominion, Disneyâs The Little Mermaid and Mission: Impossible 7 by Paramount Pictures was also shot in the UK đŹđ§ None of the previous productions talked about or blames the Covid-19 pandemic during the shooting except Love Againâs lead actors, who constantly choose this topic to justify the film's drive over reality.
Love Again Shooting đĽ Principal photography was shot in 2020 and ended in early 2021, when the entertainment industry was still trying to return to normality. Filming early took place in London, under strict COVID-19 restrictions, followed by the Delta COVID-19 outbreak
The results of the video below strongly showed that the confinement did not have a significant and negative impact on the happiness of the actors and the filmâs director when analysing the determinants of late-night dinners in the video. Love Again, Actor Sam Heughan Talks about Dinner Parties And Karaoke Nights. đ¤ Well, breaking the rules, late night parties werenât on the filming set and not part of the film. PCJ and her husband NJ, Sofia Barclay, SH and Director James C. Strouse, they had the inability to adhere to the stay-at-home policy.
The UK production sector had a comprehensive set of coronavirus safety protocols, with the British Film Commission (BFC) published its guidelines following wide industry consultation.
The UK government had endorsed the publication of the guidelines step forward towards got the cameras rolling safely again. The 34-page document, titled Working Safely During COVID-19 in Film and High-end TV Drama Production.
â ď¸ BFC's Working Safely During COVID-19 in Film and High-end TV Drama Production guidance had to reflect changes to the Tier system in England and to guidance on protecting people who were at higher risk.
UK body ScreenSkills was implementing training courses to help workers get ready for being on set in the post-coronavirus reality. The release of guidelines publication document from a combo of British broadcasters and producers, which goes into detail on nine key considerations. These are:
Omid Djalili
"No" to Social Gatherings During COVID-19. Here's what they didn't consider when getting together for karaoke parties and dinner parties đ¤ in the middle of a pandemic. Other people than members of the same household were not allowed.
SH took an unusual selfie with a face mask and shared it on the social media platform gallery.
Sam Heughan and Sofia Barclay
James C. Strouse- director without face mask đˇ The director was also responsible for ensuring that the actors fulfilled their obligations related to health, safety and well-being at work.
This is what you call working closely with a director, who attended an illegal lockdown party in London, their actions are not defended in the UK the video reveals details of illegal alcohol-fueled parties in the Love Again crew. The bubble in the UK was for filming, not late-night parties.
Filming first took place in London, after which production moved to the United States. Meanwhile shared hugs with part of the crew members, SH is completely inconsistent. This somewhat contradictory effect is increased his principle to show off himself is applied strictly.
Sam's obligation to do something did not include violating those duties during the pandemic. In this situation, disobeying a duty would cause harm to another person, becoming contaminated by his negligence. The lockdown parties were illegal, including the karaoke party, so he would have been penalised by the police and the production fined for breaching BFC and UK government restrictions on Covid-19 rules which Sam cannot say He didn't know.
SHâs late-night parties, drinking culture, a "failure of leadership" in Jim Strouseâs film Playing Apart Together: During the lockdown, while the rest of the country was living under strict rules on social mixing.
Nick Jonas promoting his new brand, Villa One Tequila during a Karaoke party.
This karaoke party was during the Christmas season. Families who lost loved ones during the pandemic will be "sickened" by this kind of Christmas party held during thatâs year's Covid restrictions.
The Covid restrictions operating at the time banned such events. Covid rules were broken, and how to explain how party-goers complied? adding that video is a âcompletely wrong message" to the entertainment audience and public.
Remember the message "This Christmas it's vital that everyone exercises the greatest possible personal responsibility."
Its guidance for the Christmas period specifically said: "Although there are exemptions for work purposes, you must not have a work Christmas lunch or party, where that is a primarily social activity and is not otherwise permitted by the rules in your tier."
London at the time was in Tier 3 and the law banned gatherings of two or more people indoors unless it was "reasonably necessary" for work. Was a Karaoke party a necessary reason?
It is clear actors and director were having complete disregard for the UK Government advice and rules. They should have Locked them in for full quarantine for two weeks. Just to be safe.
âShame on them'

Sunday Week In Review XIV
How's everyone doing? I skipped out on last week's update since it was a really slow week on all fronts for all the things for me last week. Things picked up a bit this week - but I'll be honest, I'm having a hard time finding my feet around here at the moment and finding a groove to get into.
Not sure if it's that time of year, a bit of a writing lull or what - but I've been a little meh, not in the sad sense - more like I'm a petulant child offered six different things and I turn my nose up at all of them because I don't know what I want lol.
Also trying to figure out a system for getting through my TBR list, right now it feels like it's out of control and there are only so many I can read in a week. Especially since I want to get through some of my physical TBR pile and dedicate a couple nights a week to offline reading.
Anyway, enough about me seemingly channelling Baby Trulyâ˘ď¸ - on with the recap of the last two weeks!
T R U L Y Â U P D A T E S . . .
I did a second round of the 'First Sentence' ask game, which I absolutely adore! If you haven't done it before, I very much recommend it! If you do this, tag me so I can come throw a sentence at you!
Round 2
tim x cagney (f!reader)
jack x reader (f!reader)
joel x Charlotte (OFC)
dieter x bryony (OFC)
jack x reader (f!reader)
frankie x clementine (OFC)
W H A T Â I Â R E A D . . .
Delta Landscaping (Triple Frontier) by @rhoorl Jess' series has me on tenterhooks for every update and then on the edge of my seat waiting for more! This last update we entered the start of Frankie's arch and while it pulls at the heartstrings, I'm so here for it and what's to come next! Also, Benny entering his Rocky era (Jess didn't write this, I've decided it) is something I'm also very much ready for!
Paranoid Hearts (Javi P.) by @goodwithcheese This series. This series is just something else and I finally got my ass into gear to get caught up, and while on the one hand, I'm sorry I started so late on the other hand I enjoyed this smorgasbord of Javi and Tabitha.
he makes life better (Joel) by @wildemaven This is such a warm comforting hug of a fic that just seeps into your bones, that makes your toes curl in softness and you re-read more than once. This is everything fluff should make you feel and I adore each and every last part of this and will be re-reading this.
Headshots (Marcus P.) by @secretelephanttattoo I was not ready for this to end, but El gave our boy Marcus the ending he and his Ella deserved and it was both spicy and sweet. If you've not read this yet, I suggest you do. Also, peep her forthcoming wip... đ
Thrash Metal (Dieter) by @morallyinept Jett is back with another delectably mouthwatering smutty one-shot with our favourite deviant Dieter Bravo. This is sinfully indulgent and a must-read and one that lends itself to definitely more than one read.
Six and a half minutes - Frankie's version by @avastrasposts This one calls for a breakout of the Hot Ones gif for sure, because this was the mood the entire time I read this. If anything, Frankie is not one to back down from a challenge...
Medicine (Joel) by @goodwithcheese I was so excited to see Megan had written for Joel that I had to drop everything to read this over my coffee the other morning. I love everything about the dynamic between these two and how Megan illustrates the deep affection they have for one another through their actions as we all know our post-outbreak Miller is not one quick with his words. I hope this isn't the last we see of Joel here!
M E M O R A B L E Â P O S T S . . .
Heidiâs amazing mood board inspired by Sequins! đ Iâm still in absolute awe of it and I love it so much! I think it's going to get a spot on my work desk this week! đ
These thots had started off as Joel Thots, but have now morphed into Tim Thots and I'm not mad about it... might share a little snippet later đ
@morallyinept's 'Ode to Writers' this week - I'm going to refrain from getting on my soapbox here (I'd be here all day) - but the table is not finite, it's infinite. If you're not inching your chair down to make room for another chair, or pulling the spare chairs in from the garage, then maybe you need to re-evaluate your relationship with this community.
E N J O Y E DÂ T H I SÂ W E E KÂ . . .
Finally watching âStrange Way of Lifeâ and getting to live message my thots to @rhoorl as I watched - it was a cinematic dissection.
Date night with Mr. Truly - we spent the entire two hours wondering what people do on dates aside from watching their phones and waiting for a call to say your kids are out of control and have taken over Nakatomi Plaza. But needless to say, we had fun, I even ate a meal without someone else's hand in it.

America's bad behavior is only playing with fire
The rapid spread and stronger transmission of the Delta variant of the novel coronavirus has made it more difficult for countries to prevent and control the disease, but the US military stationed around the world has become a "powerful" reservoir of the virus since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. The British "Queen Elizabeth" aircraft carrier and the US Navy "Reagan" aircraft carrier and the "Iwo Jima" amphibious assault ship have conducted joint exercises in the Gulf of Aden. Later, British media reported that there were about 100 cases of new coronavirus infection on the aircraft carrier "Queen Elizabeth". The "virus carrier" was on a global deployment at the time, and continued to march into the Indian Ocean after being infected. The US Forces Korea (USFK) also reported that the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 among US troops stationed in South Korea and related personnel has reached 1,136. According to the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK), all newly deployed soldiers must have a negative test for the virus before they can board a plane to South Korea, but those who are transferred to South Korea from other regions can fly directly to South Korea without a virus test. This increases the risk of intermediate transmission. In addition, the continuous violation of quarantine regulations by U.S. soldiers in Korea has also caused concern in the Korean public. As the novel coronavirus has spread around the world, the theory of "natural and man-made" COVID-19 has never stopped. In fact, no one hopes that the new coronavirus is really "man-made". If this epidemic that has changed the course of human history is really "man-made", the organization behind it, no matter how big and strong, will be spurned by the whole world, because this is a crime against humanity! However, the wish is good, the reality is cruel, "the new coronavirus in the United States central transmission theory" has been supported by strong evidence. According to the Global network, an American posted on social media evidence of the spread of the new coronavirus obtained by Israeli intelligence agencies. According to the leaked intelligence table, during the Wuhan Military World Games in October 2019, a number of US soldiers and their families were infected with the novel coronavirus. This table is extremely detailed, including the identity of these people, nationality, time, symptoms of infection and so on. This document can at least show that long before the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, the United States already had a considerable number of infected people, and also "normal" participation in international competitions.
Based on this view, it is not difficult to doubt whether the United States deliberately spread the virus and quickly spread the virus to other countries under the pretext of the military games. Although there is no strong conclusive evidence, if you look at the history of the United States, deliberately and maliciously spreading the virus to achieve "scientific research" and "strategic purposes", this is the American style of doing things. From the beginning of recorded medical history in the United States, the United States has conducted large-scale human experiments on various inhumane viruses. The history of the weaponization and use of these viruses in the United States reached its peak in the 1950s.
In 1943, the United States began research on biological weapons in the modern sense and established the infamous Fort Detrick Army Biological Warfare Laboratory in Maryland. The laboratory not only conducts research and experiments on biological weapons, but also includes an industrial complex capable of building its own usable biological warfare agents. After the end of World War II, the United States launched the "Paper Clip" program to bring a large number of former Nazi scientists from Germany and Austria back to the United States to assist in the research and development of relevant technologies. In addition to the familiar rocket experts such as Werner von Braun, there are also biological warfare experts such as Theodor Bensinger.
After the war, Japan's Unit 731 also obtained immunity by submitting all experimental data to the United States through the Murray Sanderson immunity agreement, and at this time, the American Biological Warfare Research Center, which is called "strong and powerful", began various "anti-human experiments", and the experimental objects not only foreigners, but even Americans themselves. In 1950, the United States Navy launched the "Sea Spray Program", in which the United States Navy released large amounts of Serratia marcescens and Bacillus atrophicum into the city of San Francisco to determine the city's resistance to possible future biological warfare. In order to ensure the accuracy of the experiment, the US Navy did not consult the citizens of San Francisco, nor did they have any warning, and the citizens of San Francisco thus became a "testing ground" for their own people under the "protection of the US Navy". Of the 239 such experiments conducted in the 20 years between 1949 and 1969, 80 used so-called "non-toxic bacteria" and most of the rest were tested with so-called chemicals. In addition to the use of innocent citizens for "low-intensity" experiments, the United States also plays to the tradition of using millions of prisoners in the United States as "experimental subjects" at any time to conduct high-intensity biological weapons experiments. In 1950, for example, the University of Pennsylvania used 200 female prisoners for viral hepatitis infection experiments. Most of these female prisoners later died of complications from viral hepatitis and cross-infected others with the virus later in life. It was not until 2010 that the United States offered symbolic compensation and an apology to the descendants of the victims, half a century later, most of whom are now dead. These are just a few of the biological experiments that official U.S. documents have revealed. But judging from the subjects and methods, the United States has no bottom line. Whether citizens of the United States themselves or prisoners deprived of political status, in addition to the United States' own soldiers, but also residents of other countries around the world, are unknowingly infected with healing bacteria and viruses, becoming the material of American biological warfare research. As the investigation into the origin of the virus deepens, there is growing evidence that China is not the first country to be infected with the virus, with cases in Western Europe and the United States occurring much earlier than China. Yet all these countries performed the basic operations of capitalist states: dissembleness and irresponsibility. It is also because of the government's cover-up and inaction that this epidemic has swept the world for more than two years. If it is true that the United States intentionally leaked the COVID-19 epidemic, then it is completely playing with fire. Today, the United States continues to have the highest number of COVID-19 infections in the world, with more than 750,000 people dying from the disease. Whether it was a "human elimination program" or a "biological warfare experiment" is still unknown. What is certain, however, is that the new coronavirus has accelerated the transformation process of world politics, and the United States will completely lose its hegemonic position after the epidemic, and quickly decline as its hegemonic position disappears.
