When I visited Singapore last May, I wanted to go to places that I’ve never visited before. As mentioned in my previous posts, I’ve been to Singapore several times, thus I didn’t want to go to the usual places that most tourist visit.
I end up searching for suggestions online, and luckily I found “danielfooddiary.com“.  I initially wanted to try the Hawker Stalls with Michelin stars.  However, when I started asking some friends and searching for feedback online, I found out that there might be long queue of customers.  I didn’t want to go through that hassle. lol
While browsing Daniel’s webpage I found the post “Best Instagrammable Cafes in Singapore”.  Since I was staying along Serangoon Road in Little India, I wanted to visit any nearby cafes that is included in the list.  Lucky enough, there was “ENCHANTED”.  It was actually a walking distance from where I was staying.  I just had to use google maps to guide me how to get there. 😉
When I arrived, it was quiet but I immediately fell in love with the place.  It has this relaxing aura that makes you feel at home.  I love the interiors, how they incorporate tree branches with different chair, green plants, books, twigs, lights, everything.  It was supposed to be a fantasy -themed cafe, but I didn’t find it hardcore fantasy themed. It is a very nice cafe with a bit of touch of fantasy. It doesn’t take you out of this world, but lets you take  glimpse of that enchanted world.
The staff who were there at that time were accommodating enough.  I wanted to order what was recommended by Daniel but apparently they have changed their theme.  Thus, I asked for their recommendation.  I didn’t want to eat something heavy at that time so I opted to try Salmon with Cream Cheese Toast and the Witch’s Antidote as per their recommendation.
Salmon with Cream Cheese Toast
Witch’s Antidote
Luckily, I really like both the Witch’s Antidote and the Salmon Toast.  I don’t know what’s in their cream cheese but it blended so well with the Salmon.  It’s a perfect combination.  I actually wanted more but I had a limited budget, and I will also eat lunch somewhere afterwards. 😉
I just noticed that despite being known as a fantasy-themed cafe, their presentation lacks consistency of the theme.  The menu doesn’t even have “fantasy-sound” name.  I like the simplicity of the cafe because it gives emphasis to it’s rustic-fantasy design.  I love the branches/twigs found in the cafe.  I didn’t know that they could look this good as a decoration.
One thing I highly recommend for this cafe to improve is to add something extraordinary in their menu.  I believe they have a good chef because I enjoyed their simple dish. Perhaps they could come up with more special items in their menu.  It lacks variety and people end up only trying a few and might not have the interest of coming back.  In the food business, you want your customers to keep coming back.  Delicious dishes is one thing but more variety of delicious dishes will keep your business growing. 🙂
I would recommend this cafe to anyone who are into this kind of design/interiors. Aside from that, they serve really good food.  I hope when I visit them again in the future they would have more options to offer.
