The Wall of Phil Augustus - Philip Augustus II, 1165–1223, king of France (1180–1223) There are a number of places around Paris where you can see sections of it's Medieval City Wall. It was built in the 12th Century by King Philippe-Auguste. On Rue Clovis just east of the Pantheon a section cuts across the road. It is 8 metres in height and a plaque tells a bit about the history of the wall.
